We consistently order take-out from this restaurant and consistently have issues with our orders, which is surprising, considering that they charge a 5% to-go fee. Today, the veggie burger that I ordered was missing any toppings, and only consisted of a bun and a patty. The portions provided at Jack Allens are extremely small for the price, and today was no exception. My serving of mashed potatoes was far less than acceptable, and although the manager had both items remade, we were not compensated for the mistakes that Jack Allens made, and our food was cold as a result. Very disappointing.

This is my wifes favorite restaurant in the Austin area. We go every chance we get. The smashed guacamole is awesome. Make sure you get the salsa with it. My wife loves and always gets the trout salad. For me its the twisted cob. Farm to table at its finest! There are several locations in the food and the service is always spot on!

On vacation from Chicago and a friend recommended jack allens and boy oh boy did it not dissapoint. Pimento cheese dip, pork sliders, red fish and the apple cobbler where incredible. The best thing about Jack Allens is their consistency in quality. Been to the restaurant many times but this was the first visit to the one off Anderson. I had the pleasure of grabbing lunch here with my wife and the head server named Biff (over 30 years working for Jack) was a stand-up guy with great banter. Great food with consistency. We tried the daily special, Baja shrimp tacos, and barbacoa tostada siders, with the caramel apple bourbon cobbler for dessert. Delicious food across the board - definitely save room for that dessert, its worth the extra calories, trust.

Really good service and incredibly friendly staff that knows how to be pleasant with anyone. Our waiter was very funny, polite, and even brought us free appetizers. Austin classic, been here a number of times. While the prices are high, it is for a reason. The food is GOOD. Jalepeno crab dip is top tier, & most of their meal choices are unique. It s a combo of Tex-mex & cuisine that matches perfectly. Their bar is deep & has very unique drinks. I like getting whatever spicy margaritas they have at the time. Having had many of the menu choices, I can say none have ever disappointed. HOWEVER, the dessert is the best part. Cobbler is incredible, my favorite is their blondie - you will not regret it.

This is the first time my husband and I have come here and I must say, the restaurant, service, and atmosphere was quite impressive. Popped by on a weekend brunch whim, and boy was it good. Austin has so many stellar breakfast spots, but this breakfast sandwich gets a top spot. Brioche bun, egg, bacon, cheese, comes with a hollandaise that was delicious! Richard was wonderful the whole time going above and beyond. Atmosphere is fun, open, and farm house style. They have beautiful local art pieces of popular Austin spots that was cool to see. We were seated quickly, great food, great staff. We will be coming back for brunch but also to try some other times.

Nice place if you are looking to class up your lunch or dinner experience. Or impress a date. The service was great and they have dividers between the booths to add extra covid protection. I suggest making a reservation as they will get busy and you dont want to have your date in yhe parking lot. I love 5he table side guacamole ad you can customize it. Try and get the patio when its nice the inside does tend to get noisy when they are busy.

The food is really bland. Nothing was properly salted. The mac and cheese left me questioning if the cooking staff knew how to make mac and cheese. Rather than having a cheesy roux, the dish had globs of melted cheese placed on top of shell pasta. The meet was dry and unseasoned. I was never asked how I wanted my steak, and the salads were lacking in dressing. I went with a party of 7. There s no seating for a party of 7 in the main part of the restaurant, so we were left to sweat in the poorly air conditioned back room. The drinks were good, and our server was good, but every member of my party was left dissatisfied with the quality of the food. The food was more about faux fancy ideas than knowledgeable execution. The food was so bland that, as a Texan used to moist meat and reasonable seasoning, I was surprised that other reviews weren t acknowledging the food s total lack of flavor.

Consistently impressed by this restaurant! Their food and drinks are fantastic! This time I tried the frozen pomegranate sangria margarita (strong but delicious!) and the Fat Burger with sweet potato fries. Those sweet potato fries are addictive and while they were delicious and flavorful enough on their own, the garlic aioli this came with made them my new favorite sweet potato fries. The burger was good, especially the bun, and was so large that I couldnt finish it in one sitting! My only gripe with this restaurant is they have a lot of spicy ingredients on their menu (jalapeno and other chilis in 90% of their dishes), so me and my cant handle heat taste buds have to order carefully. They were flexible enough to sub the jalapeno mayo for regular mayo on my burger, so that definitely helps me find items I can order there.

I initially was skeptical about the establishment because of the weird ingredients in their menu items. Wouldnt have gone to the establishment had it not been the location selected for an upcoming girls night with friends. Went in with the mindset that I would be recommending a venue change for girls night. Staff was friendly and server had good suggestions. I was impressed that the drinks were ordered initially werent short on alcohol though the 2nd drinks werent good. Food was actually really good and would be a great place for brunch. This place was our go to happy hour spot. I sat with a server who was nice and all but I found out later that he tried to charge us for something we didn t order without telling us. I came here with hubby and one of our kids who was craving a burger. I haven t been to JAK for quite a while because it was good but it wasn t memorable. Boy, was I glad I decided to come back!! We got the shrimp fundido which was delicious when paired with the perfectly grilled tortillas. Then, we got a Caesar salad with Ruby trout - we were thinking it would come with a small piece of fish but wow, they don t skimp on fish servings! It was so good. Then, we got the beef barbacoa enchiladas- the escabech was perfect since it needed acidity. And it was a good portion size to share. My daughter got the Killer Burger and she could barely finish it! She said it was exactly what she was craving, cooked to Medium temperature.

After trying other Jack Allens locations here in Austin, decided to give this one a try since it was close to the offices of some folks we were meeting for lunch (best business lunch spot btw!). The Anderson Lane location is tucked away in a shopping center so parking can be a little tricky, especially at lunch. The inside was consistent with how the other locations were decorated. Went with one of my usual chicken sandwiches although everyone else got their food, and mine for some reason didnt come out right away. The manager did come over and offer to bring me something else to munch on while everyone else was eating which I appreciated. Service was definitely a bit off, especially with the delay in my food and then when we were waiting to pay the bill-it took entirely too long. Going to chalk it up to an off day for our server, but otherwise a pleasant experience. The Cedar Park and Round Rock locations are definitely my favorites, but would come here again.

We are regulars here. Our most recent visit was slightly disappointing. The bar is usually dependable, but it wasnt this night. Two out of the 3 drinks were unacceptable. The service was subpar as well.

Everything from the service, to the food, and drinks was absolutely amazing. Kyle was great and very professional, answered all of our questions and gave us great recommendations. We got the Carne Guisada Skillet Tacos and the Skillet Of Green Chile Pork Tacos alongside with the smashed guacamole. Everything was amazingly tasty and their drinks were just as good, they re strong but delicious!

I have been coming here and other locations for years with so many positive experiences and good memories, but now I m not sure if I ll be able to come back. For context, I (like many, many other people!) have a severe shellfish allergy. I wanted to get a dish with fried food on it, so I ordered it. Most of the time, restaurants try very hard to not cross contaminate with sensitive allergens, but apparently Jack Allen s is not one of those places? When I told our server about my situation he told me that everything is fried and prepared together, including the shrimp, so there is a severe risk of cross contamination. So instead I settled for a pasta dish that was insanely under-seasoned and watery that I couldn t finish it. Just completely ruined my evening. Just saying, if a restaurant is so nonchalant with how they handle VERY common allergens, they probably aren t worth the risk! It s just so irresponsible and will get someone sick. Please, please, please do better.

Follow up review: February 2024 Ordered the most expensive entree on the menu. It took way too long to bring it to the table and when it finally arrived it was half cold. Obvious that the plate sat far too long before they delivered to the table. Instead of admitting what happened and apologiizing, the manager acted like nothing happened and accused me of not complaining to the waiter (as if that made everything OK). Incompetent manager who needs some updated training on how to manage poor customer serrvice. Curbside staff forgot to include an item I ordered. Called them back after I got home, and asked them to remove the tip. The girl never bothered to apologize and then just said ok and hung up. Completely rude. Then I called back and asked for the manager who answered very sarcastically and acted like didnt care about any of it. Keep it up Jack Allens, just lost a long time customer.

Tasty dishes. I enjoyed the fried shrimp entree, with just the right amount of seasoning. For starters, the pimento and cheese...is ...super good. The atmosphere is inviting and warm with the nicely strung overhead bulb lights and really cool artwork of Austin originals. Im coming back to try the Chicken Fried BEAST LOAF.

Came back the next day because the Cucumber Jalapeño Rita was that delicious and refreshing! I recommend going during happy hour as the appetizers are half off and drinks are 1 dollar off. We enjoyed the appetizers more than the entrees we ordered!! Definitely recommend the crab dip but not the barbacoa quesadillas! Their salad dressing was immaculate but the chicken Mac and cheese was not the best. TJ was my server both times and he was hustlin ! Than man deserves a raise!! Hope to return soon!

Great menu, all good. Was prepared to be disappointed after a long wait on a Friday night, but was anything but. 7 people at our table and everyone was pleased with their entree. Ne sure and try the barbacoa enchiladas. Good drink selection, too.

I have NEVER had anything bad on this menu, everything is always well seasoned and DELICIOUS the portions are filling, for drinks I recommend the Texas Peach and if its your first time I suggest trying the Crab Stuffed Chicken. The crowd is mostly older, and the Atmosphere is laid back but it is kind of a tight space so get a booth!

I had the chicken fried pork chop and it was quite good. Juicy with enough but not too much crust. The cream gravy needed more salt but was otherwise okay. It was served with steamed vegetables which I thought was a good side.

Solid local chain you can come back to again and again. Solid modern southern fare. They always bring out a taste of the pimento cheese and house made crackers, and it is a delightful start to any meal there. We loved the queso. I was bummed they took my old favorite crispy salmon and crab salad off the menu. My sons loved his burger. My daughter adored her quesadilla. Great neighbor higher end dining.
