This was a great place. Food was exceptional staff was great. We really enjoyed the antelope and the stewed okra. The cold meat board was amazing. Fried quail and Johnny cake was also very good. Not a dish that I dislike. The only negative thing I will say is that we booked the counter seats thinking we could see the open kitchen. You cannot. They built a wall between the counter and the line so tall you can barely see the top of the chefs heads.

This restaurant cares about the ingredients. Many of not all ingredients are sourced locally. The menu rotates seasonally with a few staple items. Tonight we tried the taquitos, antelope, black drum and habanero quail. All were smash hits! The fries are fried in beef tallow - if you go here, these are a must. We sat outside - they have a spot where you can use bug spray to keep the mosquitos at bay. Be prepared to park elsewhere close by as their lot is limited. Overall, I will be back to try more of their menu and suggest you do the same. Dietary restrictions: They will accommodate for food allergies. My wife is allergic to shellfish and gluten. The server was very considerate with options.

The pastrami sandwich at Dai Due is simply unbeatable without a doubt, it s the best pastrami sandwich in Austin! Each bite is juicy and packed with melt-in-your-mouth flavors, piled high with tangy kraut, rich cheese, and a delicious sauce. It s a lunch-only item, but it s a huge favorite among the staff for good reason. While the restaurant itself is cozy, there are some great booth spots and bar seating indoors. They also have a small outdoor patio that offers a bit of privacy thanks to some lovely plants, making it a nice spot to enjoy your meal. I can t recommend this place enough!

My wife and I have been going to Dai Due for almost a decade, and it s consistently excellent. I highly recommend the pork chop it s the best you can find. For date nights, we usually sit at the bar. The wine list is nicely curated, and the bartender s recommendations are great. I didn t think Texas had good wine until I came here. When we have out-of-town guests, this is a great spot for a local Texas food experience. We love the focus on quality ingredients and wild game. The lard and sourdough are teriffic. Brunch is also fantastic and worth checking out.

This spot has been a go to due to its unique ingredients and great quality with a very rustic feel. Very good portion sizes for brunch. The dinners there are wonderful with a great drink menu and great value in terms of the entrées. My fiancée and I shared multiple dishes that were awesome, ranging from a Tex-Mex influenced appetizer to an antelope steak. Everything was done with quality. Only minor gripe would be that they got a little overloaded in the kitchen for a bit, but made up for it in the quality of the food.

The menu is really nor unanimous, only few items half of which is 10x more expensive than others making it mostly unaffordable to average person, which leaves people with very few options. The ambience is just of a regular cafe, kind of dark and cold inside, nothing special. Only the burger was good, so one star for it, though you can find a similar decent burger at other places:)

An explosion of flavor with the pastrami sandwich today! Surprisingly Thick but tender Texas toast sized slices of rye enveloped the thick meaty pastrami perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of sauerkraut and their heavenly dressing. Just perfection. (oh, and Im not so easy to please... ) I recommend eating the first half and just sitting back in enjoying all the sensations in your mouth! Then you get to do it all over again with the second half

This restaurant was outstanding. The Nilgai was grilled to a perfect medium rare and tasted amazing. My spouse enjoyed the quantity and flavor of the porkchop. The waitress was really efficient and upbeat. I liked watching the preparation and processing of our food. The owner clearly had a goal for this location, and he achieved it beautifully. I wish Virginia was home to this place. If we are back in Austin, we will definitely come back to this place.

Very generous portions, ordered the pastrami sandwich and the quail for lunch - the meat tasted very fresh although a bit heavy. Also ordered the grilled chicken heart appetizer, which was also pretty savory and sweet. We even purchased some of their homemade soap and some fresh coffee beans to go. Parking is horrendous though, theres only a couple spots in the front and limited spots in the back, so during lunch on a Saturday, we had to find street parking across the street and walk to the restaurant. Overall, not a bad place to try if youre in the area.

Pro tip, order a lighter/fresher side or starter (we always go with whatever salad is seasonal) since all the beautiful proteins are so rich.

I m really confused about the hype. So yes the food was great yes - but the portions compared to the PRICE! gimme a break. Is Austin the new Aspen? Just be conscious what you order. The burger is worth the trip but other meals consist of more bone or fat than meat and you pay solid 47.- before tax whilst the sides are coming in tiny miniature cups. Big wine selection, two wine cocktails - I had one of them (I think it was the second on the menue, it was okish but yeah a glass of wine would have served better - don t come for cocktails). What might better work: order yourself through the appetizer menue - the flautas were amazing and the salad was fabulous too!

Was really excited to try this restaurant. We had a 5pm reservation and waited outside the door a few minutes before they opened at 5pm. We could see people moving around inside so we waited until 5pm and then tried to open the door. Locked. We waited a few more minutes and retried the door just to make sure it really was locked. We could see employees inside about 10ft from the door walking around and talking We tried a couple more times over the next 10 minutes (its now 5:10). At this point, we were ready to try another restaurant so I knocked on the door. Once again, people were only about 10ft from the door. No answer. We also tried calling the restaurant and the phone lines were down apparently. We ended up leaving at 5:15 as the restaurant didnt seem to want people to eat there We get a text from the restaurant asking about check-in, which I assume was an auto-generated text, where we replied saying the door is locked. There was no response for nearly 15 more minutes. At this point, we had already left to another restaurant down the road

I cant say enough wonderful things about this place. I was completely blown away. I sat at the bar and my server was super sweet and so helpful. I mentioned to her that I was visiting Austin and really love to support farm to table restaurants. She told me all about the amazing local connections they have and how nothing ever goes to waste. Even the mocktails were made from mulberries that they received recently. Tons of them from what she told me. I had the giant pork chop, the garlic butter potatoes and the shishito peppers with shrimp mayo. I have never had a pork chop like this. It was so full of flavor, super juicy and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were so creamy, buttery and garlicky. The peppers equally as good and so fresh and grilled nicely. If I lived in Austin, Id go all the time. Amazing!

Understated snout to tail butcher based restaurant. Quality is the key ingredient throughout: top quality ingredients, execution, ambiance, and service. The vibe is upscale edgy hunting lodge. I had the antelope lettuce wraps. They were absolutely perfect. The texture. The flavor. The balance of fat to spice. Great use of leftover off cuts of both meat and vegetables. It took what could have been garbage and made it one of the most flavorful, texture filled, and filling lunches I have had in a long time. I adored the fresh house made grapefruit spritzer (I had them hold the simple syrup) which was a great accompaniment to my meal. I enjoyed the French press tea, but would have thought with a French press I would get more than one cup of tea. The house cured bacon was a soft chew texture - I personally like my bacon a little crisper - but the flavor was excellent. I will come back again and again. Great spot for the meat lover in your life. Awesome date spot or great for a bro s brunch. (I saw a few different tables occupied by groups of male friends and/or coworkers.) Vegetarian options: This is a butcher based restaurant but they do have veggie options throughout. Dietary restrictions: Great for paleo and keto adherents. Solid for gluten free folks but strong chance for cross contamination. Parking: Small lot. But they have one. If it is full most park along the street in the neighborhood. Kid-friendliness: Not really a kid spot. But they do offer an adult sized and priced burger. Wheelchair accessibility: Pretty wheel chair friendly. Has a huge ramp you must use to get to the restroom

Heard about this restaurant and its owner from the Meateater show and podcast. We love the concept of having everything sourced from Texas. We enjoyed sitting by part of the kitchen where we watched them prepare meat for grinding, vacuum sealing bacon for curing, and making bread. The food was crazy good. The price to quality of food to amount of food was a very efficient ratio. You can t beat the quality of food. Not one thing is processed except by them by hand. There are no soy products or seed oils anywhere. Everything is scratch made. The price for our brunch was more than we usually pay but we don t ever get to eat wild boar balogna and nilgai sausage, and so we felt it was fairly priced. Some restaurants get skimpy with the portions, but not Dai Due. It s worth every penny.

Every single thing was a banger, including the drinks, and our server was so warm and helpful in explaining all the menu items. It was also one of the few restaurants we went to on our ATX trip that listened to the little note that said we were celebrating a birthday and put out a little dish of very delicious ice cream for my husband. What a wonderful place with a unique menu focused entirely on local Texas goods, from the meat to the wine. I am in constant pursuit of the best cheeseburger and had heard great things about theirs as well as the rest of the menu. The burger was fantastic and my first foray into antelope which was paired with wagyu. We also had quail stuffed with blueberries and rhubarb, quite a combination of flavors but all went charmingly well together. I love all pocket foods and they had a crawfish variation that was just the right amount of bread to sauce to meat ratio. The brussel sprouts were excellent. The fries were okay, I probably wouldn t get them again - they didnt have the crispiness I look for in my fried potatoes. I reconfirmed I do not like Texas wine much but they have sparkling water and a selection of beer for those who also feel that way. There are three choices of seating options: indoor table, indoor counter, and outside. The kitchen is an open concept which is fun. You can see things being fire roasted. The staff was friendly and well equipped to answer menu questions and all worked together nicely when bringing foods to the table. They checked in without being too much. I an glad this is in my neighborhood! The menu is constantly changing I will be back.

Food and service were great, this was one of the stand out meals we had in Austin. The only bit that would be nice is a less noisy ambience, theres little to no sound dampening which is unfortunate.

Came in here for dinner and sat at the bar with my wife. We were completely blown away by the pork flautas. We shared the burger and meatballs as our main courses. Both were very good but we preferred the burger. The french fries were made to perfection. Nice drink assortment. A really lovely location to check out if you want to eat and drink locally sourced ingredients.

Fantastic service and experience. Absolutely love the atmosphere as well. The decor and design were thought out well and really tied everything together. Loved the enthusiasm of the kitchen as each order came in. Plating was beautiful, especially for the flautas appetizer. I wasnt super pleased with the pork chop being plated on a wooden cutting board, as some of the wood was splintering. Luckily I didnt find any in the food. The pork chop was 90% off the bone so plenty easy to eat. Perfect fat to meat ratio and cooked to perfection. The remaining 10% was on the bone so making that the last part to be eaten was a bit awkward getting the meat off the bone without picking it up and knawing on it. The knives provided just really wouldnt do the job no matter how hard I tried. It would have been nice if this was done kitchen side since they already served it mostly off the bone, take that last step. Saw this place online as a recommendation for some of the best chicken in Austin. They dont have a menu online so I was not really expecting such high prices, especially with the unassuming area its in and neighboring restaurants and businesses (a sample menu is available but they say its frequently changing so they dont post one. Id suggest digitizing your menu for the website so as you make changes, they are published live on your webpage and ready for printing. I found this odd that at such a price point a menu couldnt be provided online.) The website which recommended them for chicken was also off in the fact that they dont have chicken. Its actually chicken fried quail (deep fried quail). The dish is only available on Sunday. Absolutely delicious. Its something I would come back for. Was it worth $35, thats hard to say. Again, at this price point, Im not sure I wanted something I still had to pickup to eat by hand. That was already messy since quail is a bit greasy naturally and then 2 pieces were right on top of the mash potatoes so I had those all over my hands.

Dai Due used to be one of my few favorite restaurants. But unfortunately, the food quality is not consistent there anymore. Yesterday, I ordered Pork Chop. It was dry. It was hard to chew. I would say recently the food is not good 30% of the time. There are not that many good restaurants in Austin. Please don t ruin this one too. Food consistency is critical for good restaurants. I hope you will be able to do good again. I promise to come back and edit this review when they do that.

This restaurant really highlighted the quality of Texas s ingredients and we couldn t be happier to have spent our last night of our vacation here!

Came here for breakfast. Ordered the Central Texas Breakfast. Grits were outstanding. Very creamy. Was not so keen on the boar boudin. It was made as a patty and I didnt care for the texture. Was hoping it was more the link type of sausage. The rest of my food was great. Potatoes werent very warm but still crunchy and tasty. Mimosas are made with fresh squeezed OJ and tasted great. A good place for breakfast in Austin!

This place is GOATed, what can I say? The food is freaking amazing, the service is immaculate, the prices are reasonable considering youre getting high quality farm-to-table ingredients, and best of all, THEY DONT USE SEED OILS! Its very refreshing to find restaurants in todays day-and-age that dont poison their customers with car engine lubricant and cook with animal fats like our ancestors did and how our bodies were designed to handle. Recommendations: The Wagyu Burger was out of this world (mine had nilgai antelope on it!). The beef tallow fries were incredible. Sourdough bread+ beef crackling/marrow- well worth it. Also to add on a nice touch of service, the keg blew while the bartender (also our server) was halfway through my pour- she let me down my half pint and refilled me with a different one on the house. This is up there for me in terms of best restaurants in Austin!

I honestly don t know why it s taken us so long to try out Dai Due. We came on the Saturday post thanksgiving with a last minute reservation I made an hour before for 3 indoors. If it was a little warmer, I would have loved to sit outside because it looked super cute. Between the 3 of us we got a coffee cake to start, a burger with a side of beef fat fries, the Dai Due breakfast and the Cemita Ahogada. Everything was delicious! Our server Jordan was wonderful. I don t have a single bad thing to say. Maybe parking would ve been harder if we hadn t gone on a slower weekend Anyways this is now one of my favorite restaurants in the city. So good!

A lot of their meat dishes have mint incorporated which I liked! The chai ice cream is super strong, as is the basil in the lemon basil sorbet (4 of us couldn t finish it). Memorable flavors, but too strong imo, the chai mixed with a scoop of Vanilla would be perfect, as would a much smaller portion of sorbet. We had the quail, steak, and fish. Steak was good, but wasn t worth 8 dollars a bite. Quail presentation was immaculate and tasted good. Fish was flakey / not fishy at all. I recommend this place but had too high of expectations going in. Eddie V s, Perry s, and Steiner offer superior steak. Dai due is > for wild game! Get the fries and both sauces! Super unique flavors. Ambiance and server were great.

The first part of the experience was great - easy to reach on the phone and get modifications to the reservation. Our server was really sweet, however food and drinks were a but disappointing. We ordered the two aperitifs they had on their menu and they tasted really diluted - super weird. I barely drank a 4th of mine and was never asked about why. Out of about 12 items that we had ordered, which I believe was about half the menu. The antelope leg, which was recommended by our server, was chewy to the point it made us gag.. and this was after a wait since the first time they overcooked it. The chicory salad, while nice and fresh, was truly overly salted.. to the point we could not finish it. The prices are no where near humble, and the quality follows to an extent, but I would say there s a bit of a discrepancy in value for money. Finally, I had noted we were celebrating a birthday and it was asked by Dai due what the occasion was while I was making reservations- in no way was the birthday acknowledged. And, I m not sure if this is an Austin thing - since we visited from houston - half of the severs did not smile or acknowledge you in any way as you re walking through the restaurant

Finally decided to try after hearing good things and was excited about the menu options. Unfortunately did not have a good experience. We made a reservation with plenty of time to eat and make it to a show afterward. Our waitress was unattentive to our table and in no hurry to help anyone else. We ordered drinks and appetizers and waited a while for our entree order to be taken. Then it took a very long time for our food to come out. During our wait we were not offered anything else to drink despite being empty and right next to the server station. A manager eventually came out to apologize for the delay. By that time our food arrived we had to leave to make our show and took our food to go. The food was okay but would not recommended.

Good house wine at a reasonable price. I loved the all-texas source concept. Convenient parking in the back. I d go back for the burger and the cheese boards, but sadly, not for the meat.

Truly an amazing place to eat if you re a meat lover. Everything about Dai Due is unique - the first half of the restaurant is a store where rubs, meats, pickled veggies, frozen goods, and swag items are sold; the second half is the actual restaurant and the theming is rustic but charming, sort of like walking into a colonial outpost. The menu items are VERY unique and adventurous and almost all are based around protein (antelope, boar, sheep, etc). I got a breakfast platter and the sausage made from pork and antelope was my favorite, and my friend got the award winning wagyu cheeseburger and she loved it. The menu is different for brunch and dinner and some day soon I hope to come back to try out their dinner menu! Parking: Limited parking behind the restaurant, maybe 25 spots total. Street parking a few blocks away available.
