When we first ate at Abuelos shortly after this location first opened, the food was great. This last visit will likely be the last time we eat at Abuelos. The menu has changed a lot from what it was originally, and I do not like the changes. Seems like now the major ingredient for the dishes is an excessive amount of melted cheese on every thing. Other wise the food was nothing special. We tried different enchilada plates. Mine had the worst tasting tamale I have ever had, and I eaten many tamales.

Weve been to our usual Abuelos but decided to venture and try another location closer to home. The atmosphere and food were just as good as the Plano location. However, the service was not as good. We are not picky, inpatient, or needy, for that matter. However, if you want to ruin any meal by all means, bring me the check right after serving our food. I understand it was close to closing time. However, the table behind us were still there when we left, and they were already eating when we arrived. Their waitress was very attentive and interactive with them. We didnt even get asked if we wanted dessert or any drinks to go. Well be sticking to our usual location going forward.

Yes, the service was excellent. However, the foyer smells like it hasnt been cleaned in the last 5 years, and the palm tree we sat under was so dusty, I thought it was going to fall into our food. I had the special, which looked like it had sat under the heat lamp for 30 minutes and tasted so salty, I really couldnt eat it. The guacamole tasted like mashed a bunch of avocados with no seasoning.

My fiancé and I came here on our official first date 5 years ago. Well, according to HIM it was our first date but I counted the first time I slept at his house, which was the first time we hung out lol, our first date. Anyway, this place has the best spinach enchiladas on the planet! You have to try them! They have a 3 enchiladas plate and I got 2 spinach and one beef. Great build design, atmosphere is great, waitress real attentive and honest. Unfortunately that s where it ends. I should have known when the 2/3 salsas were a 0/10 and the 3rd was 3/10 at best. Our waitress honestly told us that their Micheladas are not that great and I sincerely appreciate her honesty. Ask for the enchiladas with green salsa the salsa is not green. I can go on but I ll leave it at that. If you really know Mexican food, you ll realize this is a luxury Taco Bell that serves alcohol.

An absolute poor experience overall. I took my wife here for mothers day. We stopped at a different restaurant as the wait for Abuelos was 2 hours but had every intention of actually eating at Abuelos. I must say from the minute we walked in the door we could tell something was off. It wasnt that busy from what we could see. The table and seat in the booth we were seated at were covered in liquid. I asked the hostess to please give me a towel or something to wipe it off. She wiped it off for me. We sat and our waiter came to take our orders. We ordered a couple of drinks which came out fast! We also ordered guacamole LG and nachos. The guacamole came out within 15 minutes. The nachos arrived 45 minutes later. We had already order our meals which I would only assume wouldve taken 2 hours to arrive considering we had our nachos at almost an hour and 15 minutes later there was no word on our meals. I told our waiter to give us a box for the nachos and we would pay for what we had received and cancel our order for the meals. The waiter apologized and made some excuses. We tipped him well considering it wasnt his fault. He is at the mercy of his kitchen staff. A managerial figure came out to explain that she had excuses for their shortcomings. To which I was not interested. I explained that we simply wanted to be charged and leave. I also explained that it is inappropriate to give the guest excuses as that is not the guests problem. I am a restaurant manager and I do not offer excuses to guests in absence of exemplary service. We took our $45 nachos bel grande and a valuable lesson away with us. DO NOT PATRON THIS ESTABLISHMENT. It is unprofessional from seating to bill and they do not care about their patrons. I will say this. The hour long nachos are actually quite tasty. But there are plenty of fast food options that are cheaper and more efficient in customer service that are far superior to this inferior joke of a restaurant. Its like they trained them wrong on purpose. As a joke. But its not funny. My advice to Abuelos: install a drive thru and charge a quarter of the price. You will thrive!

We ordered delivery The Los Mejores del la Casa was definitely not worth $38 unlike the photo on the menu it was one very small sirloin not bacon wrapped very very over done ordered medium, 3 tiny shrimp burnt. This was our first visit in a long time. Menu options were varied and suited my tastes better than most other similar local restaurants. The amount of food on my order was just right for my appetite with taste to match. Prices were reasonable, and the service was excellent. The only complaint I had was that the atmosphere was noisy and hard to hold a conversation. This was probably due to a lack of noise canceling decor. But overall, we were satisfied and no doubt will return.

This was my 1st time at this restaurant 4/21/24 about 2 pm, the Arlington, TX location, and will definitely be back. I dont really know where to start. The ambiance was really nice. All of the staff were amazingly polite. Our servers RiRi, really made the day for us. She was very nice and engaging. She really took care of us. We had a party of 10 and she was just amazing. Without her, this would have been an average outing, but she definitely enhanced the experience. The food was great! When you go, you have to get the Grande Platter. We all got something different and there were no complaints from anyone at our table. You get a lot of food for the price. We all left full with to-go plates. ridiculously mediocre food. bar service was lacking in attention & professionalism by our server (other employee behind bar was great, though). nice fountains but awkward path through dining room to restroom made big one more of an obstacle for this disabled old lady. we needed food pronto but decided early in we wouldnt be back. fajita beef was very tender & flavorful. bad beans. bland rice. only 3 tortillas and nearly no cheese. shrimp overcooked. onions poorly sliced and wayyyy undercooked. 4 pieces of red pepper were not enough for two fajitas. good salsas. had combo fajitas... hubby had chicken salad. What a huge disappointment! We used to love Abuelos and have eaten here many times over the years. Tonight we had one batch of chips that was not cooked enough and two other batches that were way overcooked, just crumbled and were extremely greasy. The charro beans that are usually very flavorful were bland. My husband had a piece of stiff metal wire, like from a wire brush, in his salad. My daughters expensive pork medallions were overcooked, dry, and tasteless. The manager did comp some of our food and offered my husband a different entree at no cost. All in all, not sure we will be eating at this location again.

We visited Abuelos to celebrate my brothers birthday on 3/14/24 The atmosphere and restaurant deco is what has always been an inviting feature of this restaurant chain.Their menu options are well appointed and the portions are generous. Our waiter was very bubbly and was always very engaging which made the whole experience fun. There is only one downside and its something that you see in many dining areas nowadays. We came in around 8pm when there were still a lot of people in the restaurant and ordered well ahead of time after we sat down. The staff started sweeping around our table and getting ready to close around us like vultures circling a carcass.We just had barely gotten our food and were not even halfway into our meals when they turned on the bright restaurant lights and sat around us with brooms signaling us in a way to hurry up and eat. This behavior killed an otherwise great experience and the sweeping kicks up dust which then gets on your food whilst you are still eating. I believe that restaurants can improve in this area.They want the revenue yet they treat customers who come in to dine late poory. UPDATE: I had a great conversation with the management team on 3/21/24 who acknowledged my concern and advised me that they will be implementing changes to enhace their customers dining experience.

Abuelo s Mexican Restaurant is our absolute FAVORITE Mexican restaurant. It truly is the best and I have never found a single Mexican restaurant that compares to Abuelo s or anything that compares to their Chili Rellenos, and I have dined at a lot of Mexican restaurants. They offer a diverse menu with many options and the food is spectacular. They have ample seating, prompt service, and have a wonderful atmosphere, making it a pleasure to dine at Abuelo s. They provide spectacular, kind, and accommodating customer service. Our attentive servers have always made sure we had a memorable dining experience and have always been the best. Once seated, they offer free chips with a trio of salsa, the pineapple salsa is my absolute favorite, and they always ensure that they fill your chips, salsa, and drink. They never leave you wanting for anything. We always begin with the Queso Diablo: homemade creamy cheese dip, seasoned ground beef, slow-roasted peppers and chiles, topped with queso fresco, Cholula, cilantro. It is a great starter and absolutely delicious. But be careful to not over-indulge and save room for your entrée! For my entrée, I always, always order their Chile Rellenos filled with blended cheese and buried in chile con queso. No other restaurant serves such a delightful, mouth-watering relleno like Abuelo s. Abuelos fries the chili relleno batter to perfection, giving the roasted poblano peppers a mouth-watering crunch. I could rave about their Chili Rellenos all day. Hands down, they serve the ultimate Chile Relleno. One you will delight in having. My husband generally orders the chicken enchilada platter: three enchiladas with slow-roasted shredded chicken and sour cream sauce, served with beans and rice. The entrees he orders are always perfectly prepared. On this visit, we ended our meal with their Dulce de Leche Cheesecake: creamy cheesecake whipped with Mexican caramel and served with leche quemada, a sweetened milk sauce. This dessert is a sinful delight and a fabulous treat. And all they gave her was tiny pieces of canned chicken in a bowl of beans . It was completely ridiculous. Over priced for trash food. If you go there your wasting your money. The food isnt authentic Mexican food. Better off going to a taco stand. At least your food would be good.

To celebrate our anniversary of dating, my queen Revonna and I went to Abuelos for lunch. Unlike in most of my reviews, I dont have any images of my meal but I loved it! We had a great server also! The food was great but the lemonade tasted watery. Thats why I usually request the beverage without ice.

My wife and I stopped by , we come a few time to abuelos but tonight we met RIRII, she must be new because we ve never seen her , great server great person overall, I just said that CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HARD TO FIND AND SHE IS GREAT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE WEVE KNOWN HER FOR YEARS, and my wife is picky but you made sure my kids had their 5th refill and my wife had her double rice . First time at thus location, been to other Abuelos locations before. The atmosphere is better than most locations, however our food was kinda tasteless. I had the Grande and my girlfriend had the Chimichanga. Mine felt it was microwaved and smothered in way too much sauce. Also had the tres leches cake which seemed like it had way more sugar than other locations, so much so I felt like I was just eating syrup basically. To top it off, 3 hours later I feel nauseous from the food. Ive ordered the exact same stuff at other locations and enjoyed every bit of it, I dont know if this was just a weird night for this restaurant, but yeah probably wont be going back after that experience.

If youre after Carne asada, abandon all hopes of getting it at Abuelos. Tonight makes the second time this restaurant has failed me for it. First time: it came out well done when I ordered it rare. I dont believe in wasting mrat so I was a good sport and accepted it as it were. TONIGHT....my birthday and I specifically wanted Carne asada and great margaritas to mark the occasion. I wanted Abuelos. I regret it now. Words fail me as to how Abuelos failed me. It was embarrassing and I am done with ABUELOS. To start, tonight they were out of Carne asada. Wait person returns to my table and asks would I like to substitute for steak. EXCUSE ME? Isnt Carne asada and steak the same thing? (Yes, essentially so.) Sure, Ill take the steak so long as it is rare. A few minutes later, were out of steak but we have beef fajita skirt steak if youd like that. Okay, lets do that. Upon being served what is about 6 SMALL pieces of steak ONLY, on a small dish, I had to order sides to go with it. A la carte, anyone? The more I reflect on tonight the more angry I get. Come on...this is an upscale restaurant and theyre not fully stocked on a PRIME menu item? A customer (myself) has to order beans and rice to go along with a paltry order of beef skirt steak? It was quite embarrassing and humilating for myself as a person celebrating his birthday. Im not ordinarily a person to complain but this is the SECOND time Abuelos has failed me on service. I have every intention to contact the manager and share what Im writing here. Dear reader: please think twice before going here. Im specifically writing about the Arlington location as it is the only one Ive ever gone to. In retrospect, I am greatly upset. My family felt disrespected for me and I appreciate that, but they shouldnt have to be. I will NEVER go back to Abuelos. Once bitten twice shy. ABUELOS is a fancy joke and I regret choosing to go there for my 52nd birthday. Never again. By the way, there was no offer to adjust the bill to offset the faux pas of this situation.
