Walked into this establishment at 3:15 after calling to confirm their address. Hours showed they closed at 4pm. No greeting, when we entered, just people moving chairs and tables stopped to stare at us. After I spoke they just say were closed and reopen on Tuesday. we are giving up on this place, tried multiple times.

Hidden gem! I got 2 different plates because I couldnt decide what to get, BEST DECISION EVER! The food is SOOO GOOD! Great customer service, friendly and fast. I have been looking for a good soul food place so I did some research and this was what I went with. I am so happy I came here. Thanks ShaCasual and the rest of you guys for being so welcoming! You ever eat something so good that you sigh or say MMM after every bite? I ordered the cajun mardi gras pasta on Sunday, and it was the best thing I had all week. Im from Louisiana, and this place is the real deal. Food is wonderful and so is the service. Damians very friendly and hooked me up with a free drink and catfish for my first visit. Definitely gonna be coming back here!

awesome place, awesome employees and awesome food! i drive from waco regularly to eat here and have never been let down.. the gumbo is my favorite! Update: I am taking 2 stars away as I called today to make sure meatloaf was on the menu (I drive a very long distance to eat here) and the phone was answered by a very rude young lady that put off the impression that she was being severely inconveinienced by having to answer the phone for a customer. She ignored everything I said and then rudely asked so you calling cuz you want the meatloaf or what? The sad part is that the food is always great, but the attitude of some of the employees makes me not want to make the trip in the future. A business is only as strong as its weakest link and this particular link is almost broken. I dont know whats changed over the last year but I would advise to change it back.

The food is as amazing as I remember, but its the to-go feel I dont like (and this is just a personal preference because I remember what it was like when the spot first opened). I get it - I completely understand why the owner would go this route, but if everything is going to be pre-packaged, just make the spot to-go only because right now, the ordering process feels rushed and two of our orders were incorrect. We didnt say anything because we didnt want to make a fuss, plus the employees were really friendly. We are DEFINITELY returning, but it will be a to-go order.

The Catfish was seasoned to perfection the way Catfish should taste. I also enjoyed the greens, candie yams, the rice and gravy was a surprise I wasnt expecting it on my order to go but was very tasty. Family owned which is always a plus with me. Ive been here several times and had mixed reviews. The service is always good but at times it can be a bit slow. All of the food is seasoned with a spice, that for me personally is hit or miss depending on what youre eating. I definitely prefer the entrees over any of the sides. I ve been meaning to check this place out for years, and I finally made it in today. I got the pleasure to meet Mr. Damien and he hooked me up since it was my first time. Service like all previous comments was really uncomfortable and rushed. The food on the other hand was great. Bbq plate , candied yams, greens and mashed potatoe sides were all pretty decent and very fresh and hot but the Mac n cheese was just ordinary. Brisket was great and the fried chicken wings were done perfectly. The fried catfish filet was very dry. Their cornbread was also great. Limited drink options and not very clean, although it does get very busy so it s somewhat understandable.

I usually dont do reviews but as a black owned restaurant I had to. I remembered the food being a lot better years ago. The greens were salty, the macaroni tasted like it came out the kraft box, the yams had too much lemon on them and the catfish was too battery. It did not make it any better the lady placing the order had a bad attitude. The red kool aid and pound cake was good though.

I have been Mr. Damians customer for 8 years now, going back to the old location on 360, but it had been a couple of years since i had dropped in. UPDATE: Well so much for the response below as I reached out to the email provided with no response. It makes sense now. I don t plan to return as there are other great options that are ran professionally and including cooking my own food. I would like to speak the owner. I attempted to call on an order, at 3 something .and the lady purposely left me on hold and never came back I could hear her talking to customers we get there and she yells out we close at 4 . So she purposely left me on hold for that reason. Although your website says you close at 5 if you were sold out she could have simply said that on the phone rather than just leaving me on hold. This is why is really hard to support black businesses: poor customer service, rudeness, running out of food, randomly changing business hours etc. I saw other reviews about the rudeness..it s awful this has not been addressed at this point.

The lady at the serving line (short locs) was not very friendly and had a bad attitude. She didnt greet us, smile or anything. Just stood there and waited for us to order and asked what do you want as of we were disturbing her. We were first time customers (family of 4) and did not know how ordering worked. Ordering food was very disorganized; they need additional help and a new process for made to order food items. I will say that the smoked ribeye (pictured) was great! Keep in mind they do not ask what temperature you would like it prepared. The rice and gravy alongside my add-on catfish was very good. The floor was very sticky. Overall, The owners were kind, but the attitude of the serving line lady killed the experience for us and may not return for that reason.

I recently went to Damians two days in a row for lunch, dining-in both times. On day #1 Mr. Damian took my order for the smothered beef tips over steamed rice; it was sooooooo good! The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was warm/friendly with soft music playing in the background. I loved that Mr. Damian came over to my table to check on me . He even packed up my doggie bag and made sure I had everything I needed. On day #2, however, the young lady who took my order wasnt nearly as friendly as Mr. Damian had been on the day before. She didnt say anything out of the way, but her disposition left something to be desired, giving off vibes that she didnt want to be there. I ordered the smothered ox tails with mashed potatoes/gravy. Readers, OMG!!! They were EVERYTHING! I also ordered the Salisbury steak dinner to take home. When I was ready to pack up my doggie bag, I asked her for a container to put my leftovers in. Initially, she offered me the smallest cup. When I asked for a larger one, she loudly sighed and slammed the small one down, then offered me the next size, which was also too small. But because I do not do well with attitude and confrontation, with a smile I accepted the medium-sized container and used it for the leftover ice in my drink cup, then used my drink cup for my leftovers. I found her attitude extremely disheartening, especially considering the friendly demeanor Id received the day before from Mr. Damian. I told myself I wont return, but Im all about supporting black-owned business, especially when Im treated nicely and food is up to par (or beyond). Anyway, Ill still recommend Damians to people because the food is awesome and Mr. Damian has a really nice personality. Also, I had the pecan peach cobbler and the caramel cheesecake. Please, please, please try them both, as you will definitely not be disappointed.

This is a great place! I was a little apprehensive about staying because it was lunch time and there werent many customers, but i dont see why there werent .They have the biggest, thickest chicken fried chicken around! The fried fish made fresh when ordered and very tasty. Worth the wait. The platter included 2 nice sized pieces. Their greens were a little spicy, but i like them that way and yams are well seasoned. They had seasoned fries as well. They were playing R&B music to set the atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

The customer service needs major improvement. My friend and I went to try Damian s and the only greeting we got upon entering was what you want . No hi, how are you or nothing. The server/ cashier Jasmine or Jaz (however you spell it) needs to work on her attitude. It s very nasty and unprofessional. First impression is everything and because of that I will never be back or recommend to anyone. Also, y all need to sweep the floors more often. There s no reason I should look down and see a decomposed gecko while I m eating. As far as the food it s not bad but after the customer service I received I had completely lost my appetite.

I went to Damians for the first time today. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for so time now. I arrived about 30 minutes after opening because I heard that sometimes there may be a line. I was glad to see there were only 3 people ahead of me when I went in. While in line it was announced the card machine was not working properly after attempting a few times, so if we would pay cash. I did not have any cash on me, but I was determined to still order and try his food so I left to get cash. When I arrived back there was no line and only one young man finishing up his order. I order deep-fried cajun ribs, Salisbury steak. I received the same sides for both greens, cabbage, rice, gravy, and chicken and sausage gumbo. Woozer, I am so glad I came back. Everything was seasoned well especially the gravy on the Salisbury steak and rice. It had a little kick to it. The service was great except for one employee who appeared to have an attitude/rude to another customer about some rice. The young lady that took my order/prepared my plates was very nice and a multitasker as well as the young lady at the cash register. She offered suggestions and shared her favorites. She was dead on about the pecan candy cake...melts in your mouth good. I think I have become a fan and plan to make many more visits.

I ordered once before and the lady answering the phone was a bit abrupt but I looked over it. The food was pretty good 7/10. I called today and she was down right rude. No customer service skills. It made me cancel my order before paying. I addressed it and she hung up in my face 2/10. I need the food to taste good and your attitude to be just as good at all times!!!!!!

Terrible! I ordered fish with 2 sides. The fish was very doughy & thin, the yams was not sweet and very soupy. The cabbage tasted like ginger for some reason. The drink was good though! 2/10 wouldn t recommend

This is a great family owned restaurant the food is delicious the prices are affordable. The best customer service with a smile. I had smoked meat loaf ,cabbage ,sweet potatoes black eyed peas and rice. I was given a rib to sample which I bought a plate to go. You must definitely try the pecan peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Yummy yummy.

I am big on finding black owned businesses to spend my money. I visited Damians yesterday for lunch. The young lady at the front register was very polite and professional..VERY ENGAGED with customers!!! Oh God yall the food was so savory and tasty!! I have to say just a tad too much pepper spice...had me choked up a little but i still kept eating . I ordered Salisbury steak, mash potatoes, cabbage; white navy beans, cornbread and even topped it off with dessert (pecan candy cake) ...heaven! Puts ya in the mind of an Italian cream cheese cake just with Damians spin on it!! I was satisfied I will be returning for sure!

My wife and I went to Damians Cajun Soul on Mothers Day. The atmosphere was really nice the young lady behind the counter serving, was very rude. .The young lady at the register however was very nice, professional, and gave great customer service. My wife ordered the oxtails which were delicious I ordered the catfish which, I asked was the catfish really real or was it swai. My order didnt taste like real catfish, so i asked to trade for wings.The owner came out with a box that said catfish on it and very loudly and rudely told me that it was real catfish. All I wanted was to exchange it for wings and he told me no and I would not get a refund! Will never eat there again nor do I recommend this restaurant to anyone. But please continue to support our black owned businesses.

I ve personally had the oxtails, Salisbury steak with Red beans and rice. Also the Gumbo, and nothing has been short of amazing. Food has amazing flavor. And that Gumbo with some rice is an amazing combo. Restaurant is worth the trip if you re close or ever near by.

Forgot to take pics of the food. Sorry :( The etoufee is delicious, must try if you like seafood. Second, the menu changes. Go online the day of to see the day of the weeks specials. Youll be upset with yourself (not them) for having your taste buds set on something that was not on the menu. Earlier you go, the better if this is an option for you. Items could be sold out due to lunch rush. Mr. Damian- super friendly and attentive. Hmm... the other workers, depends on the day honestly if you get a friendly smile or not. I like to get sides- so the sweet potatoes and red beans/rice are a good go to. Now, the potatoes be sitting in the syrup so you get more syrup than potato on occasion, but the taste was good when I have gotten it.

My best friend introduced me to this spot. The food was phenomenal. I had the ribs and meatloaf and my son had the smothered beef tips. I cant wait to go back. I spent about $40 for the two of us and it was worth every penny. Thats just the food. The atmosphere is very casual yet the staff is very attentive. My son is on the spectrum and he was calm and enjoying himself thoroughly between the delicious food I ordered and the treats he got from what I believe to be the owner. The establishment is wheelchair friendly. You can fit your wheelchair in line and at the tables with ease. Kid-friendliness: My son is 4 and on the spectrum. He was chilling like he was at home. Normally hes fussy at restaurants. This establishment has a good wholesome vibe. Wheelchair accessibility: Youre able to fit through the ordering area and tables comfortably in your wheel chair. The floor plan is level and open enough where you can sit wherever you like.

Amazing food! Went for lunch, had smoked meatloaf, red beans and rice and mashed potatoes. Generous quantity of food and excellent service. Their smoked meatloaf is incredible, flavorful and comes with bbq sauce. Owner even stopped by my table to check how I liked everything. My only regret is I didn t have enough room for dessert. I never leave reviews. But this was the worst food I have eaten in a very long time. Everything was bad. I have a stomach ache as I sit here writing this and drinking down Pepto Bismol and praying that my tummy can recover while on vacation so that I can enjoy more flavorful Texan food. All of it was bad. And I mean everything. I had catfish (which was decent), the greens was horrible, they tasted like the dreaded canned greens other people use, the Mac and cheese was weird and watery and had a strange jalapeño taste, I actually would have preferred that odd tasting Mac and cheese less cultured restaurants serve, I almost choked on the cornbread as it was dry, chalky and plain, my jaws got a workout. I am shocked at the deceptive reviews. I am bewildered by them. I could not be more disappointed. This restaurant needs to do better. One half star.

I was told that if my etouffe wasnt up to par after i stated i was skeptical because there is no good Cajun in dfw, that i needed to call back and speak directly to the cook.
