To start out. The fries and orka were over cooked and cold. Fish was great just darker then I like but it was al least hot. ( we were told they were short a cook ....ok... but when the manager was eating out of the olive tray at the bar with her hands and licking her fingers like kinda made you lose your appetite anyway....but get rid of that band. A loud band doesnt need in a small place. You couldnt talking to the people around you plus they sure arent dinner listening band. Wont go back or recommend this place. Sad cause it was a dear friends birthday.

I placed my order to go and was sent a message saying it would be ready to pick up at 4:32. I walked in the door at 4:32 and waited by the front counter for close to 10 minutes as a line formed behind me of other customers. Finally someone saw me and brought my food from the back. It was a large sack with two Styrofoam to go containers. When I opened them at the house I realized they had not included my baked potato and the chicken fried steak was on the small side and room temperature. I suppose my long wait at the front was to blame for that. I ate the steak and the cobbler but it was not much of a meal without the potato. Ive tried to contact them with the two numbers that were made available to me. My messages were unanswered. all in all it was a disappointing experience.

@conniesreviews Place was recommended for their chicken fried steak. The food overall was just OK for me. Except for our initial encounter, I would say the service we received was very good. Our waiter was very sweet and friendly. She took great care of us. When we first arrived there was no one at the hostess desk and we waited for a while. We almost decided to leave and go someplace else because it was taking them so long to seat us. It was a Sat night, but after the dinner rush so it wasnt busy. There were only a few other people eating. Someone walked by and said someone will be right with you while we were waiting. It was still another while before someone finally showed up to seat us. The decor is super TX and very cute. My son loved the feel of the restaurant. I really appreciated the live music, it was great. The bandana touch for table napkins & large Mason jars for drinks is cute. On the food side of things, the fried pickles and cheese fries were good, the salad was fresh and I enjoyed the hominy green chili side, very yummy. I read reviews of the pickles being too salty, but we didnt have that experience. Also, I mean, theyre pickles, so um, yeah, theyre salty, kinda a given. My son enjoyed his patty melt and my husband said his steak was good but a bit more on the well-done side instead of medium. We all got our food, but my sons fried pork chops didnt come out until a bit later in the meal. Our waitress told us sorry, we have a new cook and he doesnt listen. ummm ok. I had the chicken fried steak, it was cooked well but flavorless. It was very easy to taste that the flour batter just wasnt seasoned. There is salt and pepper at the table, but it had zero flavor alone. A flavorless piece of meat fried in flavorless batter. My daughters chicken tenders and my sons pork chops also tasted like they were fried in the same batter and therefore also flavorless. Neither one finished their meal since it tasted like nothing. The baked potato was delicious. The cobbler was also yummy. My potato salad was very sweet so I didnt eat it. Personal preference, I dont like sweet potato salad, but someone else might. As mentioned, all of the fried items were cooked well, the meat inside was tender and the fry on it was nice and crispy, but since it tasted like nothing, it just wasnt palatable for us. The gravy was just ok, Ive had better. Everyone liked the fries and loved the onion rings. Also, a storm blew through while we were there and water started dripping from the roof onto the table next to ours and started splashing on my daughter. They might want to look into getting that fixed. It was at the end of our meal and had just finished paying our check so we didnt ask to be moved. Overall, we probably wont be back and we wouldnt highly recommend it, it was just ok. If youre just going for bar drinks and to listen to some live music, this is a good spot.

Such a Great experience!! I want to thank everyone there for amazing service great food and wonderful ambiance. Roberto the Grill Master was on point with all the meals that we ordered for 3 days. I cant thank him and the rest of the kitchen staff for excellent execution of the presentation of every delicious meal. Especially my Rock Star server AIANNA! I had center cut sirloin medium and it was delicious. The okra was tough and spiny. The loaded potato soup was delicious but a bit greasy. The peach cobbler was great. The bread was a sweet bread loaf and delicious. I gave the atmosphere a 3 star because I dont like TVs. To me they reduce the classiness. Food : 4/5

Service was good....very attentive. However, food at best was....meh. wife and I both had the meat loaf special. Meat loaf was dominated by the BBQ sauce, the mashed potatoes were instant, the green beans over-peppered to the point of being inedible, and the hominy with green chilli cold. Regular customer, usually come in 1x week. Mainly on Wednesday for meatloaf. Not sure if there has been mgmt or cook changes in last month , but quality has not been good. Last 3x meatloaf not hot, sent back every time. Stayed away for few weeks. Came back today for catfish., great as always, but fries not hot and cobbler barely warm. *One star, because after dinner last night, I have been sick in bed all day with food poisoning. First, it needs to be said that our server was perfect. The food at dinner last night was OLD. Everybody knows what food tastes like after it s been sitting under a heat lamp for hours and hours. We arrived just after 7pm and, as far as we could tell, were the only patrons in the restaurant. There was ONE car in the parking lot when we pulled in. Our complimentary bread tasted absolutely rancid, so the oil used to make it had most likely been pretty bad. My husband and I each had one small piece and neither of us finished our piece. My husband ordered the prime rib sandwich with a side of fries. The prime rib on his sandwich was like thick slices of leather; tough, and dark brown. Had he not eaten all day, he wouldn t have eaten any more than the first bite. His fries were so old they had begun to shrivel and dry up. They looked to have probably been over cooked when they were still fresh, which they certainly weren t by the time they landed on his plate. I ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. usually, here in Texas, it s hard to go really wrong with that particular dinner. I ve ordered the same more times than I could even count. I ate the mashed potatoes and gravy. I ate less than half of my shoe-leather-tough chicken fried steak - which was inexplicably on top of the gravy instead of beneath it - before my jaw literally began to ache from chewing it. I gave up. But the problem, I think, aside from the rancid jalapeño bread, were the green beans. They were quite literally floating in grease. I presumed it to be bacon grease, because it was thick and nearly viscous, the way bacon grease becomes when it s no longer hot. The green beans seemed older than anything else on my plate; the beans themselves had become soft and lfloppy, and tasted like they were about 3-4 days old. When our wonderful server came to ask if we were done, then asked if everything was okay, we were honest with her about just how okay everything was *not*. She was horrified. As we were telling her, as politely as possible, her eyes grew more huge and at one point her jaw literally dropped open. She was very apologetic, but we reassured her it was not her fault, nor did we need an apology from her. However, it would have been nice if we d been offered at least half off our nearly $55 dinner bill, but we weren t. It was a very expensive meal, even if it had been good, or at least edible. We took it as a lesson and will not ever be going back. And now I ve been sick for more than 12 hours.

Tonight is my wife s birthday. For special days our family picks a local place that we have not been before . This time we picked poorly. Everything we ordered seemed old. The jalapeño bread even tasted almost rancid. Some how all the food was overcooked, dried out and greasy at the same time. Within an hour of leaving my wife was in the bathroom getting sick. So for a ruined special day and too much money, all we got was food poisoning.

This is where the locals go. The only cowboy hats are genuine sweat stained. Nice haze of grill smoke greets you at the door and hangs out in your clothes till laundry day. The sides are pretty good, and the steaks perfectly cooked.

The fried pickles were great and the cobbler was delicious. My strip was cooked medium rare as I ordered it, but it was a bit tough. Ill definitely go back and try the ribeye next time. Red River Steakhouse has good food, amiable staff, and a true-to-the-area atmosphere. After a couple of meals there, I haven t found a dish that I felt compelled to tell friends about. And the motif is Western America similar to other Amarillo restaurants. However, I would describe the experience as consistent, which is heartening in many ways.

Called order in, and they said 20 minutes. Got there 20 minutes later, and they forgot to cook 1/2 of my order. Not to mention when I got there the young man (child) had to text someone before he checked me out. Then I got home, no each dressing, no cobbler and no bread. When I called the manager she was super nice, and my dressing was waiting for me when I arrived back to the restaurant. I didn t even mention the cobbler or the bread to manager. It s sad the kind of service we get these days for the prices we pay. At the end of the day, the manager was super nice and apologized. This was a recommendation from a local resident. He said, the best steak youll ever eat...maybe not THE best steak Ive ever eaten, but it was damn good! Our server was very personable and attentive. The atmosphere was great, lots of neat little western knick-knicks. My one irk...we walked in, and the hostess looked at us, and I said, two please. She walked to the closest booth and pointed. I contacted Red River steakhouse on Wednesday to request seating for 50 people after a funeral on Saturday. Sabrina was very accommodating and they were ready for us when we arrived. The environment was perfect with all the cowboy motif, since we buried a cowboy. The food was good and the atmosphere was awesome. We did wait quite a while for our food but nobody was particularly upset about that since people were talking to people at different tables and moving around. When the food came, it was delicious. We are very thankful for allowing us a private section. Sabrina also was our server. Very friendly and hardworking.

Good steaks, cooked as ordered. I was a little disappointed this visit. The ribeye was a little bland. It didnt seem to have any seasoning at all. Usually when we dine here the steaks are perfect so maybe it was just an off night. The sides were as good as always. I was really looking forward to their peach cobbler but unfortunately they were out but, all of the cobblers are delicious. You just have to get there earlier if you want variety because they go pretty quickly. An added bonus this visit was the man playing music and singing. He had a really good voice. What a wonderful surprise! Visiting Amarillo for a weekend getaway. Here to see Palo Duro canyon and TEXAS which was a bucket list. Went to the tourist steak restaurant and was out of control and not a smile on any customer. We left. Red River Steakhouse was wonderful. Great atmosphere and live music. My chicken fried steak sandwich was great! Maybe, best ever which is shocking. My wife got a hamburger, and she is so-so on burgers- but enjoyed every bite! Highly recommended. Their meat is not good! I ordered a bacon wrapped filet cooked medium (which is warm pink center) it came with raw bacon I cut into expecting it to be cooked rare but it was cooked medium but the very center was grey! So (grey, pink, then grey again) I sent it back and they made me another that was cooked rare. Sent it back again to cook it to medium. All that hassle and it was just ok. I would not recommend this restaurant.
