While we had a great time at Hook and Reel, thanks to the lively atmosphere and stellar service, our experience was unfortunately dampened by a possible issue with the shellfish. About two hours after enjoying a meal that included their lobster bisque and Cajun boil (with cooked lobster tail, shrimp, mussels, fried calamari, and corn), I experienced an unpleasant bout of diarrhea. Its worth noting that my wife, who had a smaller portion of the shellfish, experienced no issues at all. While its impossible to pinpoint the exact cause, its possible that the shellfish was affected by a toxin, something that can unfortunately occur, especially in warmer months. Food sensitivities vary greatly, and this is just my personal experience.

I love this place but the Gratuity it s insane!! 18% is crazy! And we were all going to tip a decently amount too! My party of 6 was going to tip $7 each person that s $42 total from us, our server wasn t even consist with us so I feel like $7 is okay if she was better at it we were going to tip more, but this is crazy, that needs to be negotiable to at least %10 or %13 but wow that s crazy I m never taking my friends and family from there and it being her first time in Texas experiencing this is wild

We planned to eat here. Unfortunately, we were a party of 12, and they would not accommodate us at all. The hostesses were rude and confrontational. They would not split us up and said the wait for a large enough table could be at least a 45 minute or longer-she just didnt know. Wow, what a way to ruin an evening!

Mack was our server. Loved her. Professional fun attentive and friendly. Shrimp, flounder and catfish HAND battered. sweet potato fries are waffle fries and amazing!! They could serve them for dessert with cinnamon and maple syrup! and the regular fries are the lightly battered super crispy kind we all love. Two huge baskets and took enough home for 2 more meals and it was 33.00. We drank water with lemon. Go try and enjoy!

Absolutely delicious, however wsit times can be a little too long during cery busy hours. expensive, as expected by any seafood places. I got the biggest boil with cajun butter and it was great. the shrimp chips also taste good and are very interesting to eat. Parking: decent amount of spots but is in a plaza. Kid-friendliness: very modest restraunt with quiet music Wheelchair accessibility: not that great.

I used to love this place but the managers are trash. The waitress brought me a mini shrimp boil when I ordered snow crab so she takes it back n just adds the snow crab so I figured she did this to not have to throw away n since it was her mistake. I ask for to go box since I didn t eat much of the shrimp. The bill comes and they charge me for the shrimp I didn t order. The lady manager comes n says I have to pay for it since I ate it. I told her that was her mistake n I didn t eat much. She takes my to go food to the kitchen comes back n says since I ate 5 little shrimp I have to pay in full after they just touched it in the back counting how many was left. I was not about to pay for that so only gave me a small discount n still took my left over food away. I still had corn and potatoes I was planning on eating but nooo they took it away. I had to pay for her mistake. So unprofessional and nasty. They expected me to pay for something I didn t order and after they touched it!! I used to love it here but the service was awful. Never again will I go here!!!

We have tried to have dinner here twice and both times it was a 45+ minute wait. We did not wait either visits since it is not worth the wait. We saw plenty of tables and no one else waiting unless they were waiting in their vehicles. We decided to go somewhere else and not 10 minutes later we got a text that our table was ready. Either the hostess does not know what she is doing or customer service in general is terrible because they are not able to turn tables on an average night.

I had a great experience all around. My waitress (Faith) was very punctual with drinks and food. She served me with a smile. Tammy (manager) was complimentary to my waitress. My waitress was dealing with a bigger table when Tammy brought me my second drink and took away my unwanted plates. I got a perfect spot to watch the football game. We are visiting my sister in Amarillo and she mentioned Hook & Reel. We were a little apprehensive considering Amarillo might not be known for their seafood but we love a good seafood boil. The ambiance was quaint and server was attentive although not very friendly. The lighting was a little more subdued than I like. The gumbo was good, as restaurant gumbo goes, but still lacking the familiar flavors of a cajun home kitchen. Sadly, the shrimp po boy was disappointing. Shrimp were not fresh, and they were overcooked. By themselves, they had no flavor. The sauce was the saving grace of the sandwich.

This is the deal with this place. Food isnt bad, the atmosphere was what you would expect. What I didnt care for was the tip that was added to our ticket. I understand if you have more than 6 in your party they add it. That isnt the issue. My issue is if you are going to add that then make sure the service is top notch. Our drinks were refilled, nor did anyone come by and check on us until the check was brought. Before you think they were busy, it wasnt. $45 dollar tip for awful service, you wont get that from me again.

New Orleans style seafood. I highly recommend giving this a try at least once. Spicy is hot after a bit of eating. Mild is a bit warm. The sauces are very flavorful. The serving size is a lot. You get 1/2 lbs or 1 lbs. Along with corn and potatos. By far, it is one of the best places for seafood in town. I mean, like this place is by the Gulf Coast. Everything seems freshly caught. Theres even a place to wash your hands after chowing down. Although it might be a bit pricey for some but plan ahead if you go theres usually a wait.

As a bar and restaurant establishment, its quite comfortable and the atmosphere is very nice. I really enjoyed the lobster plate with sweet potato fries. Hushpuppies as an appetizer couldnt have come any sooner. We were very hungry after taking my grandson to the kart racing track outside of the city. He wanted to create his own boil plate. He just loved the snow crab and the crawfish boil. The gumbo, clam chowder, and the lobster bisque were very delicious and fulfilling. They had good service, although she could have checked on us more often. They keep their bathrooms very clean and well stocked. We found this place a cozy, enjoyable, relaxing restaurant. Prices are a bit higher but well expected. Unfortunately, the tiramisu was not that good. It did taste as though it was a boxed item and thawed in the box it came it as well. Wheelchair accessibility: There is only one handicap parking spot for the close location of the restaurant. Right in front.

First off the food was amazing best seafood in amarillo even then best food in the whole panhandle area I just had 1 main issue and thats the manager Dylan is a real dirtbag he was absolutely disrespectful to a server when she asked to leave for a medical emergency he said figure it out yourself because his girlfriend wasnt feeling okay so her cover had to cover his girlfriend so to me as a restaurant owner I would never let a manager and a employee date in my restaurant thats really unprofessional so whoever is running this really got to have that in check but I would still recommend this place to anybody but as owner observing the workspace I wouldnt recommend to work here just because of that manager DYLAN such a peice of trash to his employees!!!

Place is always good but customer Service out the the guy Manager Really Sucked! I asked for a certain waiter and he was rude about it so we headed to bar where I guess his stuff sat we asked people beside the stuff who stuff it was and they said the manager (Dillan) well he came past us looked annoyed didn t say exuse or anything pushed stuff aside went past us mad as hell and left. Team members say he is always like that well he needs another job maybe answering phones. Parking: Need more parking

First time at this restaurant (anywhere). Thee most delicious seafood Ive ever had in my life! We had the Cajun boil w/lemon pepper/mild/plus sausage and the Mardi Gras w/original cajun/spicy, breadsticks and 1/Root Beer 1/Pepsi for $95 (w/o tip). The food was out pretty quick and streaming hot. Everything was perfectly cooked, even the potatoes and boiled eggs. That sauce was amazingly good! The service was great. We went about 3pm on a Saturday, it wasnt super crowded and our waitress was very attentive. Everything was clean; tables, floors, bathroom, even the little wash area was very clean. Looks like its a family restaurant, saw people of all ages from little kids to senior adults. It wasnt noisy, you can definitely hold a conversation in there. Everybody busy eating that awesome food!
