Came in yesterday for first ever visit at 4pm for some drinks and appetizers to start out our progressive date night. Honestly, we tried to go to another place in town square we enjoy, but were turned away. In hindsight, it was the best thing that coulda happened. The young man that was the bartender helped us when we walked in and checked on some things for us so we decided to try it. Drinks were fantastic along with the charcuterie board and the Philly steak on potato pancake. The young lady that was our server was so sweet and helpful. The chef brought out our dish. We loved the decorations and atmosphere! We will definitely be back! Liked it better than the other place!

Had a fantastic dining experience at Metropoliton Steak and Seafood! Met the owners, Veronica and Jaret, a husband-and-wife duo who are present every day in the business. Its rare to find such a combination where both partners take an active role in the business, and it truly reflects in the quality of the food they serve and the customer service they provide. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Amarillo; it offers the best dining experience possible. Moreover, the food is incredibly fresh and excellent!

A lovely first experience. Found this on a Google service and verified its rating through Yelp. Food and service were excellent. Be prepared for an expensive bill, but if you know that going in, you won t be surprised. My husband had crab cakes for his entree and found them to be outstanding. I ha the petit fillet which was done to perfection. The Caesar salad and the spinach salad were delicious. Our only disappointment might be the green beans which were a tad underdone. Otherwise, a great experience.

Had a birthday dinner for my wife with the family a couple of weeks ago. The kids were super excited to eat at a fancy place. They had our table ready and the waitstaff was great! The food came out great and everyone enjoyed their meal. Staff was friendly and helpful about the menu and making it comfortable with all my kids. Definitely going to have to go back again.

We were passing through Amarillo and were looking for a place to eat. First, reservations are strongly encouraged - we didnt have one and waited about 30 minutes, which wasnt bad considering it was Saturday night. Steaks are phenomenal. My salmon was a bit overcooked and dry, but the caper sauce more than made up for that. Portions are small but large enough to be filling. Our waiter was personable and seemed to do an amazing job at balancing multiple tables and knowing exactly when to check on us. The atmosphere had the perfect amount of low lighting while still allowing you to see well. I was a bit perplexed by the TV and the storage of wine boxes for such an establishment. I felt they were very much out of place and detracted from an otherwise nice dining area. Overall, it was a great experience, even though it was completely full, it wasnt so noisy that we couldnt have a normal conversation at our table. Well done and worth it. Parking: Give yourself time to loop around parking to find a spot and walk.

We came for drinks after dinner and we got seated at the bar. The bartender was alert, friendly, and just the right amount of interaction without being distracted or interfering. The cocktail menu changes regularly, so theres always something new to try. We didnt have any food, so I left those stars blank.

Great dining at this restaurant. It has the speak-easy vibe but gets louder as the night progresses and alcohol flows, as youd imagine. Honestly, any quieter and I wouldve been uncomfortable. Unfortunately, even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. Not a big deal, but certainly defeats the purpose. Secondly, the vaulted atmosphere carries noise throughout. Although it doesnt matter and I had no issue from it, I had to have my water replaced due to a sizable contaminant. And, finally, another minor issue with receiving the wrong steak sauce, but its brought to light given the decision was entirely based on having 2 sauces between my wife steak and my own. These little things were irritating at most, but honestly, they didnt bother me. Had the service, food, or atmosphere been bad, I may have said something, but it seemed so inconsequential unless weighed all together. Unfortunately, a few mishaps lead to a 4 instead of a 5-star review. However, I agree that these prices are hard to justify. I think theyre about 25% too high when considering all metrics. 2 apps, 2 entrees (steaks), 2 sides, 4 alcoholic drinks, and a dessert ran me $275 with an almost $50 tip.

Great place. Food was delicious. Lots of cocktails to choose from. Cocktails were above average in their taste. Lots of liquor options to choose from. Had the filet mignon MR. Came out just right. Other people in my party enjoyed the beef short rib and lamb. Both tasting wonderful. Chef came to the table and asked how the food was and was pleased to hear we were all satisfied Only reason for the 4 star service rating was when first arriving it took longer than expected to get someone to take our drink order. My wife and I ate at Metropolitan with friends and had an incredible night. It s a beautiful restaurant and the service was amazing, but the food was the star of the show!! The filet was perfection, the chicken fried steak is the best I ve ever had and we ended up ordering brussel sprouts twice because they were so good!! If you re looking for a nice night out, I don t think you can beat Metropolitan.

My brother and I went for lunch today and had their special which was meatballs with spaghetti and some amazing toasty bread with pesto and Parmesan cheese on it. The food was amazing. I didnt originally write anything with my review but the owner reached out and asked for more details because they were switching owners when I went there. The reason for the 2 stars is for a few reasons. One the waitress was an older woman who kept trying to recite the specials and menu by heart but kept messing them up and confusing us. She was nice but also kept coming up and making conversation through the whole dinner , nothing weird but me and my girl were on a date and didnt feel like talking to this waitress the whole time and she didnt get the hint. We got some drinks that i dont remember too well, I remember them being good but not great, also most of them were gin based if I recall which wasnt really to my taste. We got the calamari as an appetizer but it was very undercooked I didnt think it was too bad at first however it made both me and the person I was with feel queasy and I threw up a while after we got home, it was the only thing we both ate so we knew it was that. One of us ordered the Alfredo special cause the waitress kept saying it was delicious and homemade pasta but it tasted like sauce from a jar and the pasta was nothing special, we threw most of it out. I had a steak which was very delicious but the portion was extremely small for the price. Especially when theres 2 other steakhouses in the area serving bigger portions with similar quality and price. This was a few months ago now so there may have been some other things to mention Im not remembering. The only reason this was not a one star was because of the decor and I thought the steak and sides were good, in hindsight it probably did deserve a 1 star since i got sick overall I dont have much desire to go back.

Absolutely divine is what we all said after our experience the other night! You can tell the owners care very much about their restaurant, as they came and checked on our table throughout the evening. Our server was extremely attentive and very helpful with food descriptions. The menu is limited, but two people in our party only eat fish (no meat) and there were three specials to choose from, and one entrée on the permanent menu. Three of us ordered an absolutely mouthwatering appetizer made of scallops and mushrooms in a curry sauce that was to die for. Accompanied by salads and delicious house made cocktails, we were in heaven! One person in our party is extremely picky when it comes to her fillet mignon, and she said it was absolutely the best. Another person in our party ordered a special of snapper on a bed of quinoa with broccoli rabe and she raved. Our party shared tiramisu for dessert and it was SO DELICIOUS. The lighting/ambiance was perfect and they had live music. We enjoyed the fact that the music wasn t so loud we had to scream at each other, which is very common at a few other local fancy restaurants. What a special spot to spend an evening. Yes, this is a high-end restaurant with top-quality food. You get what you pay for. If you want a ribeye with a baked potato and 14 sides for $15, go to the Big Texan. If you want quality food made with attention and a discerning palate, go here. Metropolitan is by far the TOP-of-the-list high end establishment in Amarillo. We will definitely be back! Great service and drinks! The steak was freaking awesome. And honestly for fine dining it s actually affordable for a nice date night. I would recommend the hummus as a appetizer. And any of the steaks, if you can get a ribeye, ask for that. The drinks are absolutely solid. Especially the espresso martini. THAT DRINK SMACKS. I will definitely be back. The owners both greeted me personally and were very kind and made sure I was taken care of, I would absolutely recommend this to restaurant to everyone. This is one of those places where you dont want to leave, my wife found this place on YELP and by all means should be advertised on Good Morning America..... I could spend hours pumping this place up.... Just go and relax and enjoy the atmosphere. we arrived at the time they were only serving appetizers and drinks....we debated on staying do to the fact I was Starving but the waiter told us to come in and he would talk to the cook......by the way the cook is not just a Cook he is a Chef ....one of the best...the Waiter the bartender the atmosphere it was the best. I think it is beautiful inside! The staff was very professional and almost each one who passed our table said hello. The early evening we went they had a live band practicing and boy they sounded awesome, wish I heard them more then the sound check. You cant expect guests to wait an hour and a half from the time they arrive to get their brunch meal and be pleased. Please inform your guests when you have a fruit buffet available, in the meantime, and not force them to question you if the fruit buffet is for them an hour into waiting for their meal, when they finally notice it across the room. Good ambiance. 1920s/30s theme. Waitress was a bit lacking. Manager was friendly. Chairs and seating situation were a bit cramped. Get a few highchairs for your restaurant. Food, once it finally came, was very, very good. My wife absolutely loved her salmon, and I enjoyed my salmon benedict. Kids liked their breakfast food. Salmon a bit overpriced. Wow! I had such a good time tonight at the Metropolitan! A group of us came to see a duelling piano show and that group knocked it out of the park. The service and food was terrific. I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection and I could cut it with a spoon (which is something Ive never been able to do at any restaurant in town). Fantastic service. All the wait staff made sure our drinks were full and all the servers really did a fantastic job. Now for a little history. Another group of us went here about 6 months after they opened and the food was ok at best and after spending $$$ (lots of money) we went to a local Mexican food restaurant to eat afterwards because everyone was still hungry. I havent been back until a few nights ago. They have completely changed my mind and itll be somewhere we will start frequenting. Thanks metropolitan for a wonderful evening!

Food was terrible. We were a party of 12 and everyone complained. The Appetizers and drinks were great. If your thinking maybe it was because we were a big group that doesnt matter if you cant deliver then dont embarrass yourself. At 30 to 60 a plate. I compare this food experience to the Golden Corral. Golden Corral has you beat on dessert. Most of are group got Chocolate Moose it taste like they just pull it out of the bottom of a refrigerator it was hard gritty and just tasted nasty.

Usually a great place but far from it this evening. Went to have a nice relaxing evening and hear some live music. On the plus side there was live music. However, it was impossible to hear over the sports bar atmosphere. They had a football game on the TV and had a group of people screeching at the top of their lungs and banging the furniture into the bar. Shocked that the manager didnt shut it down. I guess I didnt realize this was now a rowdy sports bar and not a classy establishment. The only saving grace was our great server.

Good atmosphere. Food quick and tasty. Large drink selection. Had bbq chicken Flatbread and pulled pork with pimento cheese sliders. Sadly they were out of fried olives and pecans. Really wanted to try that. Update: they had fried olives today, they were very nice. Heres my issue. I ordered the strawberry spritzer for my drink. After a bit they came back and said they were out of strawberries, so my drink would not include them. When they broug5 my drink it was very plain. The staff then proceeded to tell me they forgot the champagne in my drink. NO attempt was made to right the situation. Basically I had gin and lime juice as my $12 signature cocktail. I was charged full price. The charcuterie board was nice though, but not nice enough to entice me to return. Btw, we were one of only two tables at noon. So I gave two stars because it is a cool place, just dont expect your order to be completed but it will be full price.

I am giving this place a 5 star review. The waitress Torri and her hospitality, service, cleanliness, with the restaurant was perfect. The imagery, was excellent, the noise not too loud, like places Ive been before. Now for the food. I chose prime steak, with garlic mash potatoes, and brussel sprouts, in a red wine glass. To drink a Johnny Walker Black scotch. This meal, and drink came out perfect. Definitely going to recommend this place for anyone coming through. Price was reasonable, considering what I had and where I was. Would come back if I lived here. Maybe they could open up one in Tulsa Oklahoma? LoL

Husband and I decided to eat here after church . It was between this restaurant or the X steakhouse down the street. This restaurant was serving brunch and their menu won us over. The plating was done nicely but unfortunately the food was underwhelming. I had the Lobster Benedict and had a difficult time differentiating between the taste of the hollandaise, Lobster filling and the poached egg . very one note. It came with asparagus which was done well and potato confit. The confit was basically fried diced potatoes with salt and pepper a side that could easily be trumped by any of the drive thru chains. Would it kill them to add some fresh parsley and freshly grated Parmesan to dress it up? I also ordered a griddle cake on the side which was slightly burnt on the bottom. My husband ordered their huevos rancheros w/chicken which was good but not memorable. My husband and I were not in a hurry so it didn t bother us that it took 40min to bring our meal and besides with the current labor shortages we kind of expect it. This restaurant oozes a high end atmosphere along with a high end drink and food menu but unfortunately would not recommend it. Just for reference YCSF is high on our recommendation list as Chef Scott cares about the taste complexities of the food he attaches his name to.

I stopped by for a quick bite on the suggestion of a friend while driving through Amarillo. My truck decided to break down as I was leaving the parking spot, so I ended up staying a while longer. All the drinks were great, the staff pleasant (looking at you especially Coby and Tory), and the chicken pasta was amazing! Definitely made a bad day so much better. Give it a chance, Im glad I did

Atmosphere and decoration was nice! Our table was wobble the whole time. Appetizer & desert were really good! but all three entrees were mediocre and nothing that would bring us back, especially for $30 + entrees. Like mentioned the only thing that would bring us back are the appetizers & deserts.

One of the highest class of speakeasy Id been to. I only had the chance to have some whisky drinks and cocktails since we visited after steal dinner. But all guests were polite, high class with great maner. If you plan to take your other half to indulge in an environment that makes you feel honored to bring yourself and the guest here! The entire staff although underhanded, have been very attentative and took care of us. We are traveling thru on business trip, and now we must stop by Amarillo for this special Metropolitan!

After looking at all the raving reviews, my partner and I thought: this should be very good! Well we were wrong. The food was very mediocre and the service was not too attentive. Look, Im no food critic, but the food had no visual presence and was bland. We both ordered New Zealand lamp chops (partner is from NZ so we decided to see how it s done here) and we said to each other: the cuts were inconsistent and the centers were all ranging from medium-rare to well-done. Potatoes on the side were hard and the brussel sprouts were warm and soggy. Very disappointed in this place and not worth the money:(

Blown away this is a five star restaurant with five star staff and five star atmosphere. The selection of beer wine whiskey and unique drinks is amazing. Great date night cozy atmosphere. We had the new york strip and the scallops. You dont find the pairings like this anywhere in amarillo. My boyfriend and i paint the town red and by far this is the most impressive menu in Amarillo

Service was phenomenal, didnt have to ask waiter to refill drinks, he provided service with a smile, wonderful suggestions. I chose the prime which was wonderful, cooked as stated , seasoning was just right for me, potatoes were wonderful & my love had the chicken pasta which was lovely. Chicken was well seasoned and I believe I picked up a hint of honey mustard. After dinner we decided to get shots bartender suggestions and he suggested this. This drink, was amazing. I think he said it was called the Cape Cod Tito. I will definitely be returning.

**** UPDATED ***** Wow. I have written plenty of reviews-- but usually they are geared toward future consumers looking for an honest review. I was quite surprised to hear from the owner. But what was more impressive was the tone of the response -- not accusatory, or minimizing my experience but wholly accepting of my feelings and apologetic. It is quite rare these days to have a business person accept that someone may have had a less-than-pleasant experience. Simply amazing. So I decided to contact Ms. Sellers and had a very pleasant conversation and accepted her invitation to return. From the beginning, my wife and I were warmly welcomed. We were led to our table and promptly waited on. After we were settled in, I think my wife was still a little gun shy. She wanted to skip an appetizer but I convinced her that we should try the Caprese flatbread. It was superb. I think it helped put her at ease. Next we moved onto our entrees (Filet Au Poivre for her and Metropolitan Meatloaf for me). While my Meatloaf was delicious and very satisfying, my wifes filet was the star of the evening. My wife couldnt stop smiling while enjoying her meal -- the filet was so tender that she was actually cutting it with her fork !!! Let me repeat --- She cut her filet with her FORK!! No knife necessary. By now, we were really enjoying ourselves, so much so that we decided to try dessert -- something we dont typically do while eating out. My wife chose a creme brulee and I had a pina colada cake (i think that is what it was called). A perfect end to a perfect meal. But just as important as the food was the service. My first experience was less than spectacular because of an inattentive waitress. This time, our server was outstanding. He did not dote over us and did not give us special attention. Throughout the evening, I saw him and the rest of the staff treat every table with a friendly yet professional demeanor. It is a true pleasure to see a well trained staff working well with one another and taking joy in their service. In the end, our dinner was a little over an hour. I appreciate the owner reaching out and asking us to try Metropolitan again. It was well worth it. I am proud to give them 5 stars!! My wife is already making plans to treat my father-in-law during his next visit. Thank you Ms. Sellers for a wonderful evening! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (Previous review) It appears to be a great place--but only if you are personally acquainted with your server or the owners. Unfortunately, we didnt have the right connections. Instead, we were treated like an unwanted guest at a dinner party -- relegated to an out-of-the-way table (with uncomfortable chairs) near the kitchen and mostly forgotten. Server wasnt fully familiar with the menu and keep forgetting items. Seems like she finally gave up on us and spent the rest of the evening gabbing and hugging the guests at other tables (must have been family and friends from the looks of it). Although the food was a bit above average, it just took too long to arrive --- apparently the server entered our appetizer order but not the entree order. So after finishing our appetizer, the meal didnt arrive for almost a full hour after - - and that was after we had to grab another server to check for our meal in the kitchen; our server was too busy with other tables. In the end, we spent almost 2 hours at a place we didnt feel welcome. And to top off the entire experience, I had chosen the restaurant because I wanted to pamper my wife on her birthday. Instead, I had to keep apologizing to her for ruining her birthday. Instead of her feeling special, she felt like an inconvenience to the staff. I wanted to like the place so much, but regretted my decision. Next year, I hope I can find a better restaurant to celebrate my wifes birthday.

The ambiance is spectacular. There was a live band the night I went. The band, Love Sessions, was awesome. Our server, Brisa was attentive, knowledgeable, made great suggestions and accentuated our visit. The drinks were phenomenal and I cant wait to visit again when Im in town.
