I have visited here many times. They also have a public park with a large pond in the same parking lot along with the Discovery Center. This area is close to the hospital district and both hospitals. There are multiple motels and hotels in the area along with convenient stores who offer gasoline. Parking is plentiful even handicap. There is a small private street to cross to get to the DC, but its easily crossed and there is a handicap ramp available to the entrance. There are a lot of trees in the area. You can have picnics here. There is also a splash pad that is free to the public. Its close to the Ronald McDonald House as well. I will answer any other questions you may have. Thanks for reading my review!

The monument is in the exact shape for helium on the periodic table just extremely huge! Im not positive on this but I think Amarillo was once or is the helium capital of America, or could be of Earth. Not positive on that, but something like that!

Right by the arboretum, a park, a lake, and. a medical centre. Some interesting plaques about the time capsule / sundial that was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the discovery of helium and to focus on the role of Amarillo in US helium production.

The discovery center was run down and many of the exhibits are broken or missing key pieces. The restrooms didnt have soap in the dispenser. Overall it was an okay experience, but they need to start putting money back into the place.

Next to discovery center so plenty of parking. Its a time capsule. Also have signs about history helium and inpact for amarillo TX. Takes about 15 minutes to read everything. On a sunny day enjoy the sundial. Maybe come see as another capsule is opened.

Nice place to visit near the botanical gardens regarding the history of helium here in Amarillo. Also, the old helium plant is not far from here on Amarillo Blvd on the western edge of town. This monument used to be near I-40 and was visible to anyone passing through Amarillo. But it was moved to this location in 1982. The signs and plaques could use a good cleaning and refurbishment, but the stainless steel monument looks great.

Nice for a short stop. Especially for chemistry interests. The Monument reminds of the special status of Amarillo as helium Capitol of the world. Its a stylish erected statue surrounded by a nice place, go there and take some nice pictures. Nice for a quick photo stop, especially for those interested in chemistry. The Helium Monument is a very stylishly constructed statue in a well-kept setting, it commemorates the importance of Amarillo as the Helium Center of the World and is really nice to photograph.

Took my son here a few years ago. It was neat to see how far apart the capsules were dated and it really makes you think. Lots will have changed and the people opening these will think, were so outdated! Really neat place to randomly stop if youre driving around that area.
