I got the fish tacos because I like seeing how different establishments go about it. The fish was well seasoned, and overall, I had zero complaints about it. For dessert, I had the fried ice cream, and maybe its just my memory of it, but I remember the shell being crispy. The shell on this one was kinda stale and pliable. Either way, its not terrible, and maybe Im being nitpicky. The service was great even though she was busy. Apparently, lots of people had birthdays that night.

Very disappointing! Ordered combination fajitas for takeout and it cost &50.00. Got it home after a grueling day and didn t get any of the things that were supposed to come with it ie. guacamole, sour cream, pico, cheese, or tortillas! What a bummer! The meat was very tough, too. We were so disappointed! Do better! There is so much competition in this town! Just lost our business.

The food here is almost always good. They are happy to cater to requests to omit or add certain things (like cilantro). The staff is knowledgeable and polite. With a quick kitchen, even in peak hours, you wont wait long for your meal. The atmosphere is very touristy. It feels like its trying to be the American idea of a Mexican restaurant. Its a bit much to be honest. But I will say that it is clean and there is plenty of seating. So over all, go for the food and the service. Its one of the best places in Amarillo.

Im a big tex-mex fan.... I believe I was born with a taco in my hand. Always trying new places when traveling to different parts of TX for various gigs. Im in Amarillo to photograph a Best Western tomorrow, so of course I had to check out some of the local fare. This right here is SOME OF THE BEST TEX-MEX IVE HAD in a very long time.... and thats sayin a lot as we have some damn good tex-mex in the DFW area. The Chefs Choice..... A crispy chile relleno stuffed with a delicious ground beef served on a wonderful queso sauce, along side a cheese enchilada covered with spicy tomatillo sauce and some seriously good charo beans. The house made chips, salsa and guacamole were all equal to the task. Service and atmosphere also top notch. Hot damn that was good... Wish theyd open one of these in Dallas!

Food was amazing, huge portions...one plate could have easily fed 3 people and that was with each of the three different plates we ordered. The drinks were just as good if not better. Also huge and well worth the cost. With tip costs was about $40 each, well worth it. We all took home doggie bags that will make up at least 2 meals each. Keep it up, well worth the trip. We will absolutely return with more friends and family....!!!

I called in an order for enchiladas dinners and when I got home the food was cold and appeared not to be freshly cooked but precooked for a quick pickup! I then called and shared my concern. I was told they would remake or give me a credit. I chose to go back for the remake. It was the same thing! Basically, I paid $40 for overrated TV dinners! This is very disappointing for when I dine in the food is always freshly prepared! After two times I gave up and called Abuelo s where my online order was freshly prepared!!!

Ordered the same order my wife and I have every week, Vegetable quesadillas. Always had zucchini, yellow squash and spinach in a creamy cheese. Tonight we got raw onions and peppers in some kind of glompy cheese. Totally inedible. Asked the waitress why it was different and she immediately got an attitude. The atmosphere is nice. It is a nice building in an easy to access location. Went on a Saturday at opening. The food was bad. I got the beef fajita enchiladas. This is not what Tex-Mex is meant to be, nor did this pass as food from The Plaza even 10 years ago. I am going to be a minority opinion as Amarillo loves The Plaza, but I would rather eat at Taco Bell. At least there, I expect food that comes from a package. There is no way they can honestly say this was not pre-made and Ben E. Keith just distributed it. Adding water or heating up does not count as cooling anymore than if I do it. The fajita beef had little to no flavor. The 3 red enchiladas I got were good for the sauce. Too bad I ordered 4 and got 1 sour cream. Either the waitress or the kitchen messed up, and no one caught it or cared before getting to the table. Yes, the waitress asked to fix it after she dropped it off, but I was not going to wait while everyone else ate. The beans and rice there is no excuse. I have had Great Value refried beans and rice with more flavor and moisture. I took two bites of each and stopped. I dont know what is going on with The Plaza, but this was the worst Tex-Mex I have eaten in a long time. They used to seem to care, but they need to rethink what brands of heat and serve foods they are ordering if this is their best. I wont be back. Even if someone offered to pay, I would skip. Then again, they are popular in Amarillo, so maybe I have taste buds that are wrong. Still not going back through.

We are staying at the Drury Inn 4/27 next door to their Amarillo restaurant. I phoned our order in at 6:30, the gal said to give them 20-25 minutes. I show up and pay for our 2 entrees at 7:02. Its not ready. So I go sit to the Exit side of the Cashier, coincidentally where they package/organize the To Go orders. There are two orders sitting there packaged up. I watch one of the orders get delivered, I watch two other orders of To Go boxes get bagged and delivered. Its 7:28 and I am giving it to 7:30 before I go and ask the gal I paid at the register and asked where to wait to lmk how my order is doing. 20 seconds later she leaves her register, comes into the waiting area, picks up the bag that has been sitting there longer than I and hands it to me with a no look Thank You and shes gone. Im wondering if what I have all tied up in the white plastic bag is really my order and where the communication broke down that me and my food sat there for 26 minutes. I also left steamed that I gave her/them a 10% tip on a $45 dinner for two in good faith when it should have been $0. The food is probably better than my 4 star rating, when its hot out of the kitchen. But sitting across from me for 30 minutes and the walk next door ... And judging from the number of people waiting for a table, they probably do a lot better a lot of the time with service.

A little pricy for what you get. It has a nice atmosphere with plenty of seating and room between tables. The wait was non existent on a weekend. The Plaza has been one of our familys favorite restaurants in Amarillo for over 30 years. We love their food. We especially love the jam that comes with the cheese sticks. We have many favorite items including the stuffed avocados and enchiladas. The papas are also very tasty. The restaurant is family friendly. Usually, there are many people trying to eat there during peak dining times. The service is always good. Our only complaint would be that they do not take reservations which is particularly maddening when we have a large group. Parking: Usually there is plenty of parking. Sometimes you have to walk a little if during a peak dining time.

I cannot say enough good things about the Plaza. We always try to make it a point to visit here when we are in Amarillo. The waitress was superb- calm as a cucumber, friendly and efficient with our party of 12. The food was excellent! Not a single complaint- all was hot, fresh and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. My perfect meal here is the beef fajita chimichanga with rice and beans and a tamale in red sauce on the side! The tamale and sauce really stole the show, perfect guajillo sauce! And the beef in the chimichanga was tender and well seasoned. Definitely worth a try

One of my favorite places to eat in Amarillo. All their foods, Mexican or American, are very good! The absolute best crispy relleno of any place we have tried...not just Amarillo....anywhere. Their jalapeño cream sauce is excellent! Fresh made tortillas. Spicy cheese sticks are a great appetizer. Only draw back...the salsa...it okay...but compared to everything else...it on a lower level....need a salsa with more of a homemade type flavor. All and all....A+ and still one of my favorite spots!

Weve been to this restaurant many times since accidentally discovering it when we went looking for the Route 66 Buffet located next door which wasnt yet open at that time. We love Mexican food and decided to give it a try, and it has been one of the regular Mexican food restaurants we go to now. The food and service are both always excellent, and we have never really had to wait for a table, as they have plenty of seating.

Found Plaza from other Google reviews and Ill add they are spot on. Service and food were excellent. We were seated in big room on the north side. It was loud from other diners. It could use some acoustic treatment. We are just passing through town so it wont be an every week spot but if I lived here it would be.

I ordered a margarita and the server never came back to see if I wanted to order food, or if I wanted chips or salsa, or if I even wanted a glass of water. I was there for an hour and a half.

The food is great and the staff (Paula) is very engaging with her customers. A very nice place to enjoy Mexico food. Oh and the have the coldest draft beer in Amarillo!!
