Ordered an Old Fashioned burger, added green chilies cheeseburger and curly fries (no drink). Somehow it came out to $14. Burger size was small but taste was decent. Curly fries were not crispy and unseasoned. Overall, an underwhelming experience.

Have been coming here since they opened & the inconsistency has finally driven me off. Paid $38 for 2 chicken fried steak dinners. No drinks. To go. It was Friday about 7:30 pm. We paid an extra $2.79 each for 2 baked potatoes that were dark brown on the inside & dry. The CFS was tasteless. Even the salad was tiny compared to usual. Had to go back for the salad because they forgot it. I used to take my family there to eat all the time but the prices are too high. For about the same price, Ill go to Dyers or Youngbloods from now on.

Great stew and cornbread. I had the special, chicken fried steak .today. It was inexpensive but mediocre. Service is counter service and is ok Overall, a good experience but nothing to write home about. I will say, McDonalds is not less expensive and Homr Plate Diner might not be as fast but has superior food and choices. You can call ahead if you are in a hurry.

Oh my! I havent been to a Home Plate Diner in probably 15+ years since the last one closed in Lubbock and that one had really gone downhill towards the end. This one is exactly like I remember the ones in Lubbock. The shrimp basket is still amazing and the curly fries and mac and cheese really sealed the deal. Id driven by this one many times and was hesitance to go on because there were never any cars in the lot. So glad I did though. Great food and the young ladies at the counter are really sweet. Will definitively be back! Maybe a burger next time.

Chicken fried steak was absolutely disgusting. Its a frozen patty covered in the most bland gravy Ive ever tasted. Fries had no flavor, thankfully they have ketchup to drown them in. The cobbler is chunked up pre made pie crust with canned filling. I assume all the ratings higher than 1 star are accustomed to microwave dinners at home. Left more food on the table than we ate, this is saying something as the portions are small. Will not be back, as everyone in my household currently have stomach pains from the food we ate, and are fighting over the bathrooms.

Purpose of a good diner is to provide tasty meals. This place does not even come close. Food was undercooked and cold. Chicken fried steak was cold and sent back. Steak was thin and extremely tough. We love the food here but on two separate occasions we have seen and heard altercations between the kitchen staff and waitresses. One time we even witnessed a fist fight in the kitchen between two of the cooks. This put the whole restaurant on edge and made me and my family very uncomfortable trying to keep our kid from hearing screaming profanity coming from the staff. I really hope this issue is resolved cause we really do enjoy the food and theming of Home Plate Dinner.

They forgot to bring out my salad. After waiting 15 minutes from my wife went up and asked for it. Then they started calling other peoples numbers for the main food. We were number 23, and when they got to 27 I went to the front. When confronted the staff said it was a quicker order. Except that it was the same exact thing we ordered. Then it was we can t control what they do in the back. The previous review said the wait was long. I agree. It was way too long.

I highly recommend either their chicken fried steak or their burgers and curly fries. The fries are a little on the garlic side but goes well with the hamburgers. It was out first time here. We mentioned that to the cashier. We didnt know how things worked. Instead of explaining or giving directions I had to ask every step of the way. It was a little disappointing. My mom has been fighting cancer for 10 months and has not been able to eat. She has been seeing commercials for this place and was excited to go as today was one of the days she had an appetite. The food was okay. We order the chicken fried steak special. The flavor wasnt bad. But the food temp was seemingly less than luke warm. I added okra for almost additional $3 to get a bowl containing about 10 small pieces. The restaurant was clean. The staff did not seem very enthusiastic. I might give them another chance. Im still undecided .

Ive come here for years but my last visit wasnt very good. I made my order and waited at the window about 12 minutes and was asked to pull over to the parking lot and it would be brought out. I waited on the lot another 10 minutes and my one order was brought out. There were no cars in front of me and only one came up behind me as I pulled over to park on the lot. Diner was nice and very roomy. It was decorated with baseball player photos and bats. We like baseball and thought the decor theme was neat. Ordering was easy and the girl who took our order at the counter was nice and helpful. My kids had burgers and chicken tenders, my husband had the chicken fried steak and I had the grilled chicken salad. I didnt hear complaints or compliments about food. My salad was just ok. The tea wasnt that great either and Im a big TEA fan. I thought it being chef salad that it would have bacon and croutons but it didnt. My husbands cousin had the chicken fried steak and she said that it lacked flavor. Mostly I liked the diner because it wasnt packed with people, it had lots of room and the overall look.

We love this place. The chicken fried steak is exactly like it used to be. Not over breaded and the size of a doormat. You don t have to cut off an inch of crust to find the meat. Portions are just right. Meatloaf is also like grandmas. I think I ll go there now .just talked myself in to it.

A bit hard to get to from the street(got to watch for sign), burger was great. Fries hot and wasnt busy. The staff was pleasant. Nice atmosphere if you are a baseball nut. Lots of memorabilia.

I had so much fun here. The vibe it has is very old times, 50s. The food was delicious. There wasnt many people while I was there. The baseball theme is everything!!

My first time there had the grand slam meat was over cooked strike one, gravy was luke warm strick two, only three people working ball one asked for onions on my baked potato none put on ball two baked potato was hot ball three but the baked potato looked and tasted like it had been cooked at 11am i got there at 3pm setting to long kinda rubbery ball four i will give them another try at a earlier time in the day but i thank the cook needs to be sent back to the miners for cooking lessons.
