I personally do not to insult, but small restaurants with big taste and plenty of food will always get my attention and appetite. We ordered the sampler plate, and it was a Lot! 4 meats and two sides, price was very reasonable compared to most competition. I believe its family owned and operated, but whatever, the food is good! Im gonna be fat if i keep eating here, and this was my first time. Staff is friendly, and Big Ray comes out to check on the satisfaction of his guest. Big points in my book! I dropped a pin for Big Rays for when I returned to Texas. Im getting full now and need a to go plate.

My ribs was so delicious today was our first time eating dinner from Rays. We got the family pack ribs and three sides. Mac n cheese, baked beans, potatoe salad.... So good. I literally woke up from a nap. You know how food be so good you go straight to sleep afterwards. Lol. That was me today. We have leftovers, so Ill be finishing it off later.

Good food and friendly staff but check your receipts before you finalize. Wife and I ordered a combo 2 meat platter (pork and brisket), charged for 3 (see receipt) but they missed the awesome fried okra and onion rings so it all works out in the end. Very cordial staff! I would recommend stopping if youre in the area. Baked beans were sold out... :( so tried the cornbread salad - tastes like 7 layer dip :) Note wifes reaction when I said this awesome food can make me a Cowboys fan.

This place was recommended by friends so we decided to give it a try. The food was bad..my husband ordered the brisket and it was extremely dry (we brought home to the dog). I ordered the fish and it was decent but took forever to get. My husband was done with his meal before I got mine. And the atmosphere is nasty. Dirty and dusty starting with the front door. Go if you want but don t say you weren t warned.

I don t actually crave bbq that often, but I don t think you ll find a better spot in any of the surrounding cities. The building is quaint, and the service isn t noteworthy, but that s not what you re coming for; the food speaks for itself. The cornbread salad is actively blowing my mind right now. I ll be back.

I have searched this place several times and finally had the chance to order through a Uber eats promotion. I didn t even pay full price for my meal and I hate that I spent the change that I did. Working a 12 hour shift and had food delivered, delivery went very smooth and fast. 2 meat plate; sliced brisket/ chicken with Mac n cheese and fried okra. Banana pudding and sweet tea. I received pork sausage (which I haven t eaten in decades), chicken was old and dry. Box Mac n cheese (the taste of processed cheeses) everything was cold except the okra was warm fried extremely hard with absolutely no seasoning. The banana pudding was banana flavored jello pudding and whipped cream with wafer cookies. And the sweet tea was unsweetened. Beyond disappointment.

So, Saturday I was out w a few friends and they wanted bbq, my friend was driving and said she was taking us to hutchins. Id never been there and we got there well the line was so long so my friend took us to the next best BBQ she said was as good if not better. Ooooo Im so glad we made it to Big Rays. Not only was the food good but the desserts were so good I had to take some home to share as its a hike and a half for me being that I live in Denton. I had a 2 meat platter w brisket and ribs and my 2 sides were potatoes n onions and coleslaw. The meat perfectly smoked, ribs were fall off the bone. The potatoes reminded me of home. This is a scratch kitchen and it shows and it tasted oh so good. Janelle was the young lady who served me. She was quick to give me a sample of the slaw, then the banana pudding and bread pudding so glad she did. I had my portion there and excited to take a bigger portion home to share. She had great smile and disposition.. I look forward to my next visit to allen. Lunch/dinner location is already decided. Looking forward to trying some other sides. Let me first say the customer service was great. But if your eating bbq, its all about the meats. I got the double meat baked potato. First off, brisket flavorless. Sausage flavorless. I also got 2 child chicken sandwiches. Chicken dry as hell and flavorless. BBq sauce was great and the beans were fire. Overall, will not return. If I am craving bbq I want allll the smoke, I can get good bbq sauce from the store. Just being honest. But again, customer service was great!

So first of all, the people that work here are so genuinely kind and do a fantastic job. Went in for lunch an hour ago with the grandparents for the first time and my goodness AMAZING brisket sandwich for a great price and all the sides are phenomenal! Out of the blue I was craving bbq that doesnt cost an arm or leg! Idk how all these folks have rated below a 5 star. The food omg was amazing nothing was dry and I was even sad because my husband got to the cornbread salad before I could! This place is definitely a hole in the wall that has history and makes me feel like Im back in my home town. So needless to say if you arnt one of those city slickers that go for the vibes and actually going for a hearty meal this is the place for you! Barbeque oh barbeque is what called out to me today. My place of choice for great food and good people was Big Rays so I m on my way. The brisket sandwich from now to eternity will always be my go-to. Not many others have been so tender and flavorful from my point of view. The baked potatoes, ribs, and sausage get a point as well They also have an honor system that pays for those who can t afford to eat which I think is swell. The catfish is always fresh and hot but only on Fridays and Saturdays Too bad it can t be every day as it was in the good ole latter days. It s okay, it doesn t matter, for Fridays will be the day. I will be sure to fish it up as well as buy an extra plate for those who can t pay.

Just ate here for the first time. Had a daily lunch special. For the price it is the best you can get nearby. I love the pulled pork sandwich. The bag came with two bbq sauces and a side of your choice. You can get your pickles and onions and you re set. I am now convinced that I have been wasting my money at fast food places. I m definitely coming back here again. Parking: They have a small parking lot but there are streets nearby to park as well Wheelchair accessibility: Their parking lot has a ramp to access the entrance easily

There was a slight miscommunication on our order and they gave us a free strawberry short cake to make it up. All the staff is really friendly and you can tell they care about their job. The brisket was good but no flavor other than the bark on top. The spicy BBQ sauce definitely saved it. The Mac and cheese was basic but the scalloped potatoes were amazing. Hello! So, I visited here for the first time a few weeks, as I was in the area for a Conference. They were down-to-earth, personable, and worked with me on an adjustment, since I was on a special diet, so to speak. When I went to eat that chopped beef, ooh-wee! Not to mention I m one that specializes in being the worst food critic ever. my spouse said the brisket melted in his mouth. I had the ribs, string beans, cold slaw, garlic bread. I absolutely loved this place. I lived in Dallas for years and I wish I knew about this hidden gem. Best brisket ever! Ive eaten bbq all over the country, and hands down the BEST. The side dishes were overwhelming. So many yummy choices. Peach cobbler was awesome. Definitely a favorite. It was so good I went back for more, but sadly they were closed on Sundays. Local gem! My husband had the catfish and it was phenomenal! He is from Mississippi (and a catfish connoisseur) and loved it! It was fried to order and the fish was super fresh like it had just been caught! I had a brisket baked potato which was delicious. I also enjoyed the sweet tea and strawberry cake (super moist almost like tres leches). Please open a location in Frisco!

I don t know where to even start because everything is good and right about this place. I drive an hour weekly to to eat here. The food is seasoned perfectly, staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is like home. I love love love this place and recommend you try it because it will become your favorite. I always get the pulled pork sandwich that buttered bun is delicious. Go and see for yourself

September 9, 2023 Back again as we come here regularly. Always love this place. Brisket is absolutely the best and their cooked cabbage is to die for. Bread pudding is really good too. You just can t go wrong with the bbq here and so much more reasonably priced. I highly recommend. We are regular visitors. You know what they say about hole in the wall places. This one lives up to it. Original review. Best kept secret in Allen. Ive never had a bad meal here. My favorite sausage in town including all the bigger barbecue famous places and a chopped brisket sandwich just the way I like it. Heavily buttered and grilled bun! Highly recommend.

My kids and I drove out here eom Garland tonight wanting to try a new bbq place and was not disappointed at all. First off, the staff was just as friendly as could be, which was very welcoming. It was the best brisket sandwich we have had in a long time! I also asked for xtra crispy okra and it was exactly how I liked it. We then ordered the banana pudding to take home and eat, again amazing! I was very impressed and will definitely make the drive again for some good ol barbecue.

This is one of those top quality family run BBQ joints that we all hope to find. The food is top tier, the service is fantastic, and theyve got something for everyone. Sides are wide ranging with many things youd find in a real Southern kitchen, all made with love. The BBQ is tender and well seasoned (but not insanely salty), and comes in portions that wont leave you hungry. If youre on the hunt for lunch, theyve got some killer specials throughout the week. When in need of a loaded baked potato, this is the go-to spot!! Ordered a single meat brisket loaded baked potato and a single meat hot link loaded potato, which was about $14 without tax. Double meat potatoes cost $2/3 more. Fair warning: the single loaded baked potato was loaded!, it took about two days to finish. This is if you re planning not to share. But the single meat could have fed 2/3 people, the way it was packed. It also lasted a 40 minute car ride and still stayed hot!! Kids meal for chicken nuggets was about $6. They have a wide variety of meats to choose from or to make it a sandwich. They have your typical soda machine, and they freshly make and refill their koolaid drink. They also have desserts and other sides, if you so choose. The atmosphere was fairly clean and quiet. Good place to bring the family and enjoy an inside meal, in the A/C.

This was the literal WORST bbq I have EVER had. I got the half chicken and it looked and smelled like it just came out of a formaldehyde bag, meat was dry and bland and had a grey coloration. The sides were super over salted and the Mac and cheese was hard. I would recommend going LITERALLY anywhere else.

I was coming from Honey Grove back to Dallas where I live and we missed our turn from 121 and ended up on Highway 75 when I thought about out of the way barbecue spots. I asked my phone for barbecue near me and I have never been happier than I was when I finished my meal from big Rays barbecue! Everything tasted wonderful! I am a bbq fan. Eaten it in 40 diff states. At local spots non chain in all of them. These guys are solid A- to strong B+. The meat was not seasoned enough for my personal taste but seasoned to normal water American taste. Smoke flavor and effect on meat was a solid A. Tenderness and juiciness a B. Side that I tried classic Mac and cheese a solid B and cornbread salad was an A. Staff polite and friendly. Genuine local business and people. Def hit this spot before any of the chains for bbq. In the area.

I have been eating here since 2017, and never had any issues up until recently. The food and service have been getting worse. I know Its not going to be a hit everytime, and thats why I came back because the price was fair and the food WAS good. Tonight helped me make up my mind. I ordered my food, paid, and waited. While I waited I watched SIX people who came after me get their food before me! I listened to the woman checking people out ask TWICE for my food. After I waited for more than ten minutes after I ordered two sandwiches, I get home to find a surprise of two sandwiches filled with fat! Picking through my food to get the fat out is exactly how I pictured my dinner going. Sadly, I will never be putting my money into this place again. There are much better BBQ places in Texas that take pride in their food. This place was better under the old management.

Ive lived in Allen since 2000. I dont understand how this place is still in business.Only been here once years ago. Stopped in today to get a chicken sandwich and the ONLY 2 things that were good were the toasted buns and my Dr.Pepper. The chicken was chopped and full of skin and fat. The bbq sauce was so watered down, it had no taste. The bbq beans were so sweet I couldnt eat them and I have a huge sweet tooth, so, these were SWEET!!! Needless to say, I wont be back. Ill stick with Dickeys. I hope they will read this and make changes. Disappointed!!!

Small joint, BIG heart! Driving around Allen with the kiddos looking for a place to eat and happened upon Big Rays! Did not disappoint. I had the Catfish plate, hubby had an enormous BBQ baked potato and the kiddos had the Brisket sandwich and Nuggets! Big enough to split between 3 kids and adult portions lended to a to-go box. Food was deelish and only surpassed by genuine service. Koolaid and Bread Pudding are a PLUS! We ll be back The Buffs
