Usually hesitant about places in the low 4 s, but the chicken fried bacon burger caught my eye. Then, I arrived and discovered they had an all-you-can-eat catfish with a chicken tender add-on. Soooo delicious. Surprising to see reviews as low as they are. Highly recommend if you re in Abilene.

I have been going to this place since the 90s. We had out of town guest that was looking forward to eating there. We were so disappointed, the onion rings were over cooked and room temp. and the catfish and fries were the same. So disappointed. Water tasted like tap water. I think the cook served us leftover product that was not freahly cooked. Please tell servers to not put their fingers on the top of our glasses..

If you like quality good food this is not it. Subpar gas station quality fried food. Onion rings and fried pickles were hard and over cooked. Catfish was dry. I don t want to hurt the business by adding what I actually saw. So to the owner or manager all I m going to say is start cleaning and fix the know issues. I am not pleased with my experience. Peach cobbler was good I will admit that.

After reading a few positive reviews we were excited to try this little spot out. Man we were highly disappointed. My husband ordered the catfish plate, and I ordered the all you can eat shrimp. His plate had 4 fish fillets, hush puppies, fries and a small salad. My plate (as you can see in the picture) had shrimp, fries, fish, and coleslaw. Both plates came out with food lukewarm and the fish lacked of seasoning bad! The coleslaw had a good taste and the fries were fresh cut fries, they just were lukewarm. I did order a second batch of shrimp hoping that it would be hotter and fresh. It did come out a little warmer but I am not sure if the shrimp, oil or batter was old but it just was not appetizing. We ended up just letting calling it a done deal and left (we had been at the hospital all day and didn t feel like waiting for food to be remade, etc ). As we were leaving we did hear that the table in front of us had a bad experience as well. I m not sure if it was just a bad night for the restaurant or ? The lady at the register did offer the previous table to fix theirs (so I would guess she would do the same for ours) but after two plates of cold shrimp already we weren t willing to wait. We just wanted to go. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was just a little joint but it has a friendly atmosphere.

Had the 5 piece catfish lunch plate with fries and coleslaw. Fish was not flavorless but could use something. Fries looked hand cut and had good flavor. Coleslaw was cream style, could use a little salt and pepper. The server was Maggie, she was very helpful and friendly. Always made eye contact without hovering. Kid-friendliness: Full kids menu with options for non fish eating kiddos.

I had a disappointing experience at Catfish Corner. The wait for our food was longer than expected, which might have been tolerable had the service and food quality met basic standards. Unfortunately, that wasnt the case. Our server forgot the appetizer we were looking forward to, and to add insult to injury, the main dishes we received were not what we ordered. When we finally got our onion rings, they were a letdown - mostly batter and unevenly heated, being cold in some spots and hot in others. This visit was far from the enjoyable dining experience we anticipated.

Went in, waited ten min for someone to tell hello from the back, ordered 2 combo platters with two extra shrimp on each plate. The cashier didnt seem to know what she was doing. Entered our order twice. Had to change it. Got, I guess the manager. He fixed the register, after nearly 15 min. Our food came out, there was three times the amount of breading as shrimp. The doughy substance overpowered the flavor of the shrimp completely. My fault I suppose, everyone at my job said I shouldnt go. They did definitely listen when I asked for extra tartar. And they tried to be kind about the whole situation. Unfortunately, after that experience, we wont be returning.

Stopped here for a late lunch on our way back to DFW from west TX. They were fairly busy for a Wednesday late afternoon. I had the catfish small plate and the portions were just right for lunch. I traveled to eat here twice 300 + miles each time. Service sucks people cant remember what you order. You wait hours for your food, just for it to come out wrong. When they do fix it its the smallest 3 chickens they could find. When you order all you can eat. Ive seen this place in its prime I ate here every week. But this whole place is just trash. Went Sunday after church when they re supposed to have all you can eat catfish which means it should be ready. Coleslaw should already be ready and baked potatoes should be on standby you would think we didn t get to try the food because we got tired of waiting after 30 minutes and walked out. We were not there for all you could eat, but we were ordering baked potatoes and catfish and coleslaw. For some reason the table that came in after us got their food before that. But besides that the grease was so thick in the air in there that it was burning my eyes. So no, I do not recommend.

Been here twice, giving it a second chance. Had the catfish/shrimp combo with fries. Everything tasted like old burnt grease as if the grease had not been changed in a long long time. The catfish was dry and tasteless, overwhelmed by the burnt grease taste. Fries had the same taste and smell, too bad. Amazingly the onion rings we had for appetizer were amazing. Not sure how they accomplished that but seriously good. The service was friendly and fast. Just wish the food was better. There was a staffing problem when we went to eat here one of the waitresses walked out and left only one server at prime dinner time run. You could hear the men in the kitchen talking loudly and seemed like they were harassing the one waitress they had left while the dining room was filling up quickly. The lady did a great job for being the lone ranger, but the kitchen help was loud obnoxious and borderline abusive. Food was great and the lady waiting tables handled it and kept her composure throughout. Hope when we go back they have acquired better kitchen help and more help for the floor. Just went by and ate here for the first time in a while. Our server was so friendly! Her name was Debra and she took great care of us. Also, the new manager, Herb, came out and talked to us after our food came out and made sure we were having a good time and to make sure the food was good. Absolutely love this kind of service! Baked potato was tiny and way over cooked 1 out of 5. Catfish was lightly breaded and tasty 4 out of 5. Shrimp was over cooked and batter so crunchy it hurt my teeth 1 out of 5. Ive eaten here since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and it always had its own...down home type of feel about the place that was like a fish fry out at the farm. A lady named Deb has been my waitress the last few years, and shes never messed up my order and the food is always fresh. RECENTLY, HOWEVER! We walked out....Waitstaff is rude and incompetent. We had eaten here a couple of months prior and our experience was similar.. Rude waitstaff and waited to pay out for over 15 minutes... No one manning the cash register. The establishment is old, outdated,cramped and dirty. I will never go back.

Went into this establishment with high southern expectations and was disappointed quickly. The servers were extremely rude, seemed as if they were understaffed. The fish was mediocre, fried extremely hard with small sized servings. The fries were amazing and the shrimp was mediocre as well. The fish and shrimp combo is not worth the price, maybe try the all you can eat fish.

I went here twice this week and the fish is mushy inside the crust..I first thought it was under cooked, but I think its a different type of fish. Also the onion rings are too thick.. Wont be back til it changes... Food

We went for an early dinner and as we walked in the girl at the podium didnt say anything to us and just left to the back. We stood there for half an hour and not one person acknowledged us or gave us any indication for anything at all. There was one server but she didnt acknowledge us either (kind of understandable to an extent) but there were several others we could see at the computers. It was a tad busy but not to the point that we should have had to stand there for 30 minutes without a single person acknowledging that we were there. Decided to leave and go to Fuzzys instead.
