My husband I have always been greeted w a smile and friendly waiters. The food is authentic with added flavors from the family. Happy atmosphere with cooks having a good time preparing delicious food. Vegetarian options: Vegetables are available if that is your choice . First time here and it was absolutely delicious. I d heard mixed reviews from people over the years but my husband said it was one of his favorite spots. So glad I finally went and tried it. I had a chicken taco plate with beans and rice. All the food was delicious and came out very quickly. I got full off of one taco and lots of chips and salsa. Both of which were also extremely good. The tea comes unsweetened but with just a few sweet n low packets it tasted fantastic. Definitely would come back again. Prices were extremely reasonable as well and the waitress was very sweet and accommodating to me showing up late to a big group.

Overall I absolutely loved this place. I mean the service and food were outstanding. My husband and I have been looking for a Mexican restaurant here in Abilene Texas for a while. Oscar s surpassed my expectations in every way possible. I will be coming here more often from now on. The food is so delicious. I can not stress enough how good this place is. 10/10!!!

I m literally in here trying to eat my food with a straight face. This is terrible. The food has no flavor and the atmosphere is similar to a retirement home (actually that may be better). Their shirts say If you don t know Oscars, you don t know Mexican food , well, I m pretty sure Oscar doesn t know Mexican Food either. The service was fast, food was out in 30 seconds and was warm at best. Definitely not fresh.

It was great. Hot sauce was wonderful. Everyone should go try it. Its just where its located it was a challenge to find. The city engineers that put the roads they had one too many drinks that day, but if you get there, its worth going. Every time l go through Abilene l plan my trip with a stop here for the best chile rellenos, they are the best l have ever had, l always ask for a side of sour cream for them. Pros: food was excellent! All plates came out warm. Service was great, cup never fell below half full. Lobby area was clean, tables were clean! Food selection was massive, so much to choose from! Cool factors: you get your own pourable hotsauce/salsa bottle to fill the small black cups for your chips. The decor really fit the atmosphere. Mom and Pop store feeling. Cons: Small/oddly shaped parking lot (difficult for large vehicles to back out of if its full). Building location is nestled away behind a Greyhound bus station making it difficult to see from the main road. No sweet tea! (They have unsweet, and you can add your own sugar from the table). Point of sale system could use an update like every other restaurant whos servers use tablets (this mitigates errors that could happen in the kitchen, helps sort out language barriers, and conveniently organises orders with names, makes tipping easier and more secure). Overall: Will absolutely visit again and refer friends to this location! Parking: Large vehicles beware if the parking lot is full. Odd L shaped parkinglot, no guide lines, free-for-all.

Nice chill place for quiet Saturday evening meal. Seated right away and staff was very quick & courteous. Chips were fresh & salsa tasty but could be hotter. The hidden treasure in Abilene near the east side Walmart. Clean is not enough to say, spick and span ! The neighborhood felt a little scary and there were people hanging out all around but we were hungry and took a chance and let me tell you we were not disappointed !! This was one of the best Mexican food places we have visited, the food was delicious , the staff was very courteous and attentive, and the atmosphere was so inviting and relaxing. The Christian type music that was playing was amazing as well. As a Google guide, the restaurant had a clean atmosphere but food needed improvement. Chips and salsa were cold and stale. They didnt even heat up the taco shells before placing unseasoned beef inside with some lettuce and a slice of roma tomato. The enchiladas they provided were cheese, covered with what looked like a cheese slice heated up to melt it. They charge $3 for a fountain drink, and no other adult beverages are on the menu, nor do they have anything on draft. After $17+ for the meal i still have my waitress a $5 tip. I dont need more $23 bad experiences.

Came here because we had a great experience a year ago when we ate inside. Went through the drive thru today...Hair in the bottom of refried beans... I have red hair. Definitely not mine, How gross. Id heard such good things about this place. Was looking forward to great food. The place is clean, with nice decor and good table service. The food is fresh and it is very fast, but it is not very good! I ordered the queso and got a bowl of nacho cheese sauce straight out of a can. The enchilada sauce, also right out of a can, and I suspect the refried beans too were out of a can. Everything else was just kinda bland, but at least it wasnt over-salted. I did enjoy the chips and salsa. The salsa was obviously made in-house, and it was good. I got the distinct impression that most of the employees were just collecting a paycheck; very few of them seemed to be happy. I can only tell you about my experience there. I love Oscar s! I eat there any time I m in Abilene, TX. Their Mexican food is always inexpensive and consistently good. I had the fajita beef quesadillas and they were really good. If I could give a negative number I would. We ate here a few year ago and it was fantastic. It was so good that we made note of it so that when we passed this way again we would make sure to stop. BIG MISTAKE. Something has changed, drastically. Forget the lack of service, the food was disgusting. My wife had fajitas and i ordered the old persons cheese enchilada plate. My enchiladas were corn tortilla filled with ?something? and covered with fake plastic cheese sauce. The kind that you find on school lunch mac and cheese, the really bad kind. My wifes beef fajitas at first glance looked like they had been cooked the day before and then microwaved. But then the smell hit.... Something was very off with the meat. Not due to spices, but due to bad meat. We paid and left... It was not worth trying to discuss the meal as the waitresss only comment was people eat it all of the time... I was very very sad about this. We had been looking forward to going back for a meal as we had in the past.. Boy, were we wrong.

It has been years since we have been here. Last time it was okay. This time the food was very good. Order the queso appetizer and it was okay. I ordered the shrimp taco plate and the flavor was delicious. Hubbies ordered the smothered beef burrito plate. He said it was very yummy!! He has also had the Carne Guisada plate before and said some of the best.

Was so not impressed. We had a large party, one waitress who had zero patience with answering questions. The food was just okay for mostly everyone. Wouldnt return if Im in town.
