From the outside, the building may not be particularly eye-catching, but dont let appearances fool you. The parking lot was full, and I quickly learned why! The food here is excellent, with a diverse menu offering some unique options. The queso is hands-down the best I ve ever had super cheesy. If you love cheese, this is your spot. The quesadillas were thick and satisfying, served with delicious rice and beans. I also tried the Hawaiian ceviche, which you can order with shrimp, fish, or a combination. The flavors were incredible! Overall, its a fantastic place with a fun atmosphere and super friendly staff. Highly recommend giving it a try!

Mine and my daughter s food was disgusting. I had shrimp tacos and asked for corn tortillas, but they came with flour. I asked for corn tortillas and received them separate to make my own from the ones given. No sorry was said for giving me an incorrect food order. Then the kids chicken meal is a joke. She had one bite and said it was so gross. Was super greasy. My waiter did not care about us one bit and it was an annoyance to have him working. My shrimp were not cooked all the way. Where we were sat was off from the normal area and it was dirty, stinky, sticky, just horrid atmosphere. I have no idea how this place has so many good reviews. A friend just went for the first time last week and got food poisoning from the shrimp so I should consider myself lucky!

We were visiting the area on a dove hunt weekend. Looking for good food Friday night before the local high school football game, and this place kept coming up in the reviews as a good place to eat. Believe what you read because the food was fantastic. Quesa Birria tacos were amazing as well the massive plate of fajitas. Chips and salsa were the best Ive ever had at a Mexican food place. Small area, lots of folks cramming themselves in and lining the walls. If you know spanish, it will help to communicate here.

Best chips in town, hands down. Their habañero rice is also excellent. Everything else is on par with the best Mexican food restaurants in town. *Edited to add... Their Cadillac margarita is one of the best margaritas I have ever had. I get it with half salt, half Tajin on the rim. It is tequila forward in the best possible way. Also, do yourself a favor & order the quesabirria.

Awesome local Mexican food place. Clean, looks like its been recently updated inside and out. Restaurant and bar. Service was friendly and efficient. Salsa is one of my favorites. Not bland like a lot of places. Our whole party liked our food. I had the avocado salad. I ordered it with chicken but they sent steak instead. It was delicious. There were even pieces of bacon on it. The meat is on top of shredded lettuce and finely chopped tomatoes not the huge chunks of lettuce and tomatoes you often get with a salad. I prefer this. Plus they are generous with the avocados and limes. We definitely moved this place to being one of our local favorites.

The chips are the best chips I ve ever had and I m picky about chips. The salsa is always good and fresh. But you ve got to try the queso flamenco with beef! If you don t know what you want to try, get the tampiquena, it s got a little bit of a few different things. The fajitas are great. Awesome enchiladas and quesadillas. Can t go wrong here!

We were only visiting Abilene for the day and it was such a great place. We had the shrimp tacos and they were fantastic! Some of the best that Ive had. The shrimp itself is nothing to brag about, but when you add their cabbage and sauce, there in lies the game changer. The sauce has a tropical yet vibrant taste to it that just compliments the spices on the grilled shrimp. I highly recommend you try this place for the shrimp tacos. Now, we also ordered the birria tacos and they were really really good. More often than not, the meat is good, and the sauce is bland. The sauce actually has flavor, very vivid and vibrant flavors. You could taste the various peppers, the garlic, and it really was one of the best ones Ive tested. We had a shrimp quesadilla and that too, was tasty. Nothing to brag about, but it was definitely tasty and delicious. Same for the plain quesadilla. Overall this place delivered, and then some! I would be willing to make that drive back over there just to eat here. Vegetarian options: Anything there can really be adjusted to be vegetarian friendly. Parking: Limited parking so just make sure you dont get there at peak hour.

The Chef here takes pride in not only the quality of food but also food *presentation! It looks delicious and absolutely is awesome. The Chef himself checks on his customers and the entire staff are grateful you are there to dine with them. They want you to know that you are APPRECIATED. Don t judge this proverbial book by the cover. Stop, go inside and enjoy. PS, the chips are handmade and the super crunchy texture is unlike any others in town. Oh, and the white queso is fresh, not watered down and the salsa fresh made. The price is right. Have been twice now and plan on being a regular. I like abuelos in Abilene HOWEVER, this little diamond is better and priced right. No kidding. Thank you Aunt Nancy for sending us to try the Blue Agave.

Being new in town, this was our experiance: On a Sunday, mid-afternoon, we were seated at table 7. The chips and salsa were a home run. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and my wife ordered the beef Chile relleno. Both well prepares. However, our server had poor communication skills. We were not afforded the options of the beans or rice. We had to flag him to ask about these options that appears on the menu. My water was filled once. Flagging was also needed to pay out. Would I return? Sure. But I will need better service. It was blown that day. It was not crowded. Our server was in conversations with other employees.

My now-favorite Mexican food place in Abilene. Starts off with excellent chips & salsa. I usually get the combo enchilada/taco plate, which is very good. The flavor of the meat in the taco is the best. Ive been there only once when the meat was too greasy and sogged up the taco shell, and thats one of my gripes against a lot of places, but I think they corrected that, because Ive been several times after with no problem. Both the chicken and the beef enchiladas are excellent. Rice and beans are average. Service is good and quick. Restaurant is too loud. My daughter sometimes has issues with that. Seems like my favorite Mexican restaurants in Abilene always end up closing down (first Dos Amigos, then TaMollys), so Im super happy Blue Agave opened up. Wishing them a long run and great success!

It was our first time to try Blue Agave and it was very good! We ordered our food to-go and since they weren t very busy we just waited at the bar watching the TV and chatting with some of the staff who were all super nice! The whole menu sounds great but Mom got her usual of Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas which she said were very good! I asked for a recommendation and one worker said she loves both the chicken and the shrimp chimichangas so I got the chicken chimichangas with charro beans and habanero rice! The chimichangas were great and surprisingly big! The beans (which I m picky on) were perfect and the habanero rice, though less spicy than it sounds, was good! I definitely plan on trying more of the menu but as good as my food this time was I kinda wanna order the exact same thing again! They have lots of good looking drink options (which seemed a bit pricey) but the our order was pretty reasonable (both $11.99) considering the generous amount of food plus a free bag of very good chips with 2 cups of unusually good salsa! 100% recommended and definitely planning to return! Update The food and people here are always great! Very generous portions that we usually order our own but end up taking half home for later! The steak or chicken chimichangas are perfectly crispy and amazing and the sweet tea is very good too! If you re less hungry the quesabirria are a great choice! Parking: Small parking lot but usually spaces available Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking

There food is awesome. Ive only had a few dishes, Caritas Aculpulco style (actually fajita style [jus means with grilled onions, bell peppers or onions, and grilled sliced jalapeños] ). Theyre Chios and salsa are bomb, they do something to thier tortilla chips that provides a unique texture. Last time we went the salsa was the spices dish. Theyre so good that its hard not to filled with chips and salsa cause they are so good. Try the queso dip to, I think, they add a chorizo to the dip thats just amazing. Could be wrong, I thought it was delish, wife not so much! She did eat it though. Brother-in-law ordered a Beer-rita (take in margharita) made with Dos Equis, he loved it! Definitely give it a try and: KEEP AND OPEN MIND!!! Their food is great and Service has been a 4 everytime weve visited! Give it a shot!

From the moment we stepped in, the freshness of the food was unmistakably the star of the show. Each dish we ordered, from the savory tacos to the zesty enchiladas, tasted as if it had been prepared with ingredients picked straight from the garden that morning. But what truly stood out were the chips and salsa; they were absolutely addicting! The chips, perfectly crispy and lightly salted, paired with a salsa that boasted the right balance of spice and tanginess, made it impossible to stop after just one serving. Above all, the staff at Blue Agave enhanced our dining experience significantly. Their warmth, attentiveness, and knowledge about the menu made us feel right at home. I had the beef fajitas with rice and charro beans. The food had good flavor. I do wish there were more beans in my bowl and more of the fajitas. The fajitas tasted good but we prefer a different/thicker cut of meat for fajitas. They should consider including a little bit of guacamole with the fajitas and making their own flour tortillas. In San Antonio, where we are from, you are not allowed to be a Mexican restaurant if you don t make your own tortillas. The frozen margaritas are the best we ve had so far in Abilene! The sopapillas were soft and delicious! I just wish we were seated in the front area. Both times we have been, we ended up in the back where the atmosphere is not so nice. Maybe we ll ask specifically for seating up front. I would definitely go again to this restaurant.

First time trying this place and it did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken fajitas toxicas. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The servers were very attentive and were on top of the refills. We were constantly asked if we needed anything. The music made for a great atmosphere! I will definitely be eating here again.

Stopped here for lunch and so happy we did! The chips were delicately crispy, the salsa was fresh and tasty, and the queso was some of the best weve ever had. Smooth, flavorful, yet light. I ordered the shrimp tacos, and again, they were some of the best Ive ever had. The shrimp was juicy and perfectly cooked on a bed of tangy slaw and drizzled with a delicious creamy sauce. It was the right amount, too, even after pigging out on the chips and salsa/queso. We loved this restaurant so much and look forward to eating there again!

Couldnt say better things . Went in with 3 young kids and 4 adults. At about 11am just before the lunch rush. They went out of their way to gather certain colored crayons for the kids that they asked for. We were a little warm and they turned the heat down. To be clear Im not the kind of person to even ask but they offered as we were taking off sweaters and such. Which I appreciate. Server and even other employees were all in a good mood , cook asked if it was good. Really was best mexican experience Ive had in abilene. Chips were homemade, salsa was delicious, though not spicy enough for me. Everything was delicious, best refried beans Ive had in abilene. The carnita street tacos were fantastic. The smothered burrito and cheese enchilada my wife and kid got were just ok tbh. But kind of expected. Move past the ground beef to better options. It is on the pricier side with basically everything 13$ and up. It is worth it imo. Also to note is they serve liquor not just a limited beer selection like most places. Nice mixed drinks . Would definitely make this a go to Mexican restaurant. Total bill was 105 without tip. Definitely reasonable for 7 ppl , 3 kids meals. Margarita and chelada

They sat us in a side room, basically forgot about us. They did not give us any plates with our chips and its a watery salsa, so you had to use your napkin as a plate. She dropped off chips, only returned with our plates of food. No refills, nothing. Then we leave and people are in the main room getting service. Very odd. Dont waste a meal here.

I went while I was on a dietary cleanse and was able to get items off their menu that still fit my dietary restrictions and made me feel satisfied full and like I had a great experience there Cadillac Margarita is classic and perfect.

First and foremost, the service was fantastic! However, the food and drinks didnt live up to our exceptional waitress. The food was very basic, it tasted like every other Mexican restaurant. Not bad by any stretch, but nothing special. Our drinks were quite pricey (we both got margaritas) with very little alcohol. Overall, not bad, but probably wont come back.

They have a huge menu, and we look forward to going through it since our lunch was so good today..

My son took to to lunch there, during a time when I was sitting with my husband at the hospital...it was close..it looks like its ready to be torn down , inside and out..nothing is organized the whole place is not uniform..its this or that style and, old not new..the music was blasting...I politely ask for it to be turned down and our waitress kindly obliged....the food was pretty good, and plenty of the servings..but I wont go back, I felt a little uncomfortable being there. Sure wouldnt take my grandkids there.. we dont drink, so we dont fit in a place like this.. you need to look a little more inviting sorry, Blue Agave

Hit and miss. Came in around 8 and they had no avocados for guacamole. I needed a magnifying glass to find the chicken in the quesadilla and for $13 thats not cool.. The tacos had good flavor, but way too much grease and the shell was very hard. The queso was very good, but the chips had strange flavor and texture. Definitely unique.. Good salsa. We couldnt get a salt shaker or other things for our meal which was frustrating. We may try again when its not so busy. Parking sucks too. Strange there is no phone number listed or website for customers. We tried a second time and it was worse than before. The fajitas were not sizzling when they came out. The beef was tough and in general everything lacked flavor. We had to salt the food. The rice was cold and bad and the guacamole had many very large chunks of onion which served to ruin it. The margarita tasted like it was made with some kind of thicn syrup and lots of it. It turned both our stomachs for a couple hours. Definitely not fresh tasting or scratch made. A small queso was almost $8. This was the last chance for this place and to make things even worse it was expensive. The only positive about the meal was how quickly the food came out.
