9-16-2024 It had been quite a while since we stopped at Sunrise. As you can see from the menu, the prices are pretty reasonable. We ordered 3 egg rolls, 1 spring roll, and a small vegetable fried rice. All was of decent quality. However, they charged for a large fried rice. The server (and assume, all employees speak limited English. ) must have misunderstood our wanting a small order. I didnt question it at checkout. I should have pointed at our selection. We ate most of it anyway. All in all, it was a nice meal.

Walking into this place takes me back . The food , the decor , the ambiance ,and price points hit all the right spots. Wait staff is very friendly and helpful when ordering . Ok, I will try to break this down as well as I can. The service and atmosphere were fantastic. The food was good. Now, let me explain why the food was only good. The flavors were excellent. The food tasted amazing. But it still left me feeling like it could have been better. You see, like all Chinese restaurants, the menu is enormous. I was there on a Saturday night at 5:30 pm. The middle of the dinner rush. There were only two or three other tables seated the whole time we were there. The only way a restaurant with that size menu, with that many options and with that few customers, could possibly survive is to cook everything from frozen. Like I said, the flavors were on point. The chef who cooked the food knows what he or she is doing and is a talented chef. They are just working with food that stays in the freezer for to long because there arent enough customers to support a menu that size. The food tasted great, but it also tasted frozen and reheated. Overall, I will be going back, and I encourage everyone else to go there too. Sunrise needs more business so they can keep their stock rotated and put out the excellent quality food I know they are capable of doing. I would love to see this place packed with a waiting list every weekend night. The kitchen deserves to be recognized for putting out food that tastes that good even with the problems. I would love to see what they can do with fresh ingredients that havent been frozen.

Regularly eat here food is fantastic! It s what I use to say, but over the last couple of months I ve ordered moo goo gai pan. The smell was different, the taste and texture was off. I nearly regurgitated. I went as far to tell them it tasted weird. Let s just say he didn t deny anything. Sorry but I will not go back!

Tried this place once before years ago and thought I would give it another try. We started with the Crab Angels. They were disappointing, flavor was bland and the filling was nonexistent. They were very dry as a result. The Wonton soup was bland and the dumplings were very chewy and pasty. The egg rolls were good but the dipping sauce was to sweet and runny. For an entree, I went with the Jalapeño Chicken. I would say the flavor was ok, but the chicken was over fried so badly that it was like eating beef jerky. The rice was bland as well, the dish was served with no sauce so needless to say it was extremely dry. To top it off, the waiter never filled my drink from the beginning so I ate the entire dry meal without a drink. My wife got the sweet and sour chicken. She ate about a quarter of it and left the rest. This wasn t so bad I wouldn t go back, maybe order something else and only if someone else wants to go.

I love low key atmosphere Herr. Its quiet, comfortable, and a great place to eat. I have had better luck with dine in vs take out probably because it comes out hot and fresh vs out of a plastic or paper container after the drive home. Always friendly faces to greet you and it has been voted the best locally many times! We will continue to enjoy Sunrise Chinese food as our go to place as its also priced very well!

This was my first time and Im kinda sad I hadnt tried them sooner. The food was very good. I had the lemon chicken and pork fried rice. I was surprised that it was all white meat, no fat and crispy! Completely dishonest with their pricing. Ordered online for pick-up was unknowingly charged a 5% processing fee. When I got to the restaurant and signed for order I noticed my debit card had an additional charge on it. The guy couldnt really explain it other than to say it was for using a debit. It was basically a convenience fee. Now the charges werent a whole lot, but they took another 4 dollars off me and completely hid it. I only saw it by sheer accident. The food is mediocre, and apparently the owners are thieves. Will never go back!!

I ordered the sesame chicken and white rice with an egg roll. Personally little panda is way better than this place. They are severely overpriced and the sesame chicken was severely over cooked and no sesame sauce on the chicken all they did was sprinkle sesame seed on it. The broccoli was extremely bad. This place has long been a favorite of mine for years. You will not find their spring rolls anywhere else, they are my favorite item cooked fresh with a unique noodle, no cabbage but some meat. They are delicious with sweet and sour sauce. I usually get the cashew or almond chicken but this time we just got sesame. It s not just over fried and old but fresh. The vegetable mei-fun is a must and coconut shrimp as well. Take out is great but the inside of the restaurant is unique and authentic with all of the Chinese culture.

Ive been eating here for a little over a year. The food is always good. Great customer service. Ive always gone through the drive thru, so not sure about inside. Ive never had an issue here. The only reason I took off a star is the prices. When ordering on their website, it charges a convenience fee, and when I pick the food up, they charge for using a card. I pay online, so there shouldnt be any extra fee after paying the convenience fee. All in all, you have to pick your battles. Youll get worse service other places. Sunrise is delicious and friendly.

Ordered the moo goo gai pan as carry out. It was delicious. We walked in, ordered, and it was ready in ten minutes. The serving was generous and I was able to make two meals out of it. Years ago this was my go to Chinese place. Since then Ive been doing mainly buffets but Ill definitely be back for more when carry out is on the menu. Our food was delicious and we ordered 3 orders of Fried Rice and 3 egg rolls to bring home to our sons for dinner and they enjoyed it(We did dine in & take out). Our service was good. The decor in the place is very Oriental in style and the Asian music in the background was very relaxing. We will definitely be returning. !!! Vegetarian options: There are definitely vegetarian options with Asian food... Fried rice with vegetables for example. Dietary restrictions: The only dietary restriction I have is low sodium and I didnt see any specific meals/dishes stating that on the menu. Parking: Plenty of parking in back and not alot up front. Kid-friendliness: Not really for little kids or babies because I didnt see a changing table in the ladies room. Wheelchair accessibility: I didnt see handicapped parking up front and I didnt see a handicap restroom in the ladies room either.

I came in midday starving and wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant out since I have been to almost every one in Abilene. Ordered egg drop soup and the General Tso s chicken dinner combo. Came in on Easter Sunday 2022 with my Wife and Mother. My Mother and I got the Happy Family plate. And My Wife got Vegetable Fried Rice and Egg Drop Soup. The Happy Family plate was so good! Ithad Shrimp, Pork, Lobster Meat, Baby Carrots etc. with a delicious sauce! My Wife thoroughly enjoyed the Egg Drop Soup! She also said that her Fried Rice was terrific. Our Waitress was very sweet!We will visit again. Edit: I forget to mention that the Restaurant is beautiful inside. It has been upgraded since the last time I was there, when a different owner/business ran the building. It was beautifully decorated and peaceful. It was exceptionally clean!!! We had a great dinner.

Abysmal Service! Yesterday just after noon, six adults, a small child, and I sat down at a table in Sunrise, a Chinese restaurant on South First Street in Abilene, TX. About four other tables soon were also occupied, with one or two diners at each. We were aware that the drive-up window service was active. Only one waiter was in the restaurant, which is the consistent staffing pattern at Sunrise. We do not know what role, if any, the waiter had regarding the drive-up customers. He came to our table and took an order for a spring roll and an appetizer dish of fried chicken wings, and then left us sitting. He did not ask what we wanted to drink, and we were served no water or other drinks. He never came back to finish taking our orders. One of our party went to the owner and told him we had not been served water nor had our orders been taken, and soon the waiter brought us water. Eventually he delivered the spring roll and appetizers to our table, but we had no plates to put the appetizers on for each diner, so we used paper napkins to place appetizers in front of each diner. He still did not ask for our orders. After waiting a bit longer, one of our party went to the owner and placed our orders with the owner. Soon the waiter came to our table and yelled loudly at us in Chinese, with a distraught expression on his face, I am so busy. We had been waiting about 35 min. By that time we had had enough of the appalling lack of service. We offered to pay the owner for the appetizers that had been brought to our table. He said, Forget about it. We left the restaurant still hungry.

I had never been there, but my daughter was ordering take out so I ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce. I was not prepared for how flavorful the sauce was! It was almost a broth and while I would normally pick and eat the shrimp first, I tipped the large cup and drank it! Excellent!

The fried pot stickers alone are worth coming here for. Unfortunately the sweet & sour chicken was bland with very little sauce. Cheese wonton were sweet & yummy. Very nice people and clean dining.

Chose this dump based on positive reviews. Spent $100 on take-out and tipped $20 hoping for the best. The food was terrible and half went in the garbage. This was for a Christmas party. At first everyone pretended it was good then we ordered pizza instead. Thanks Sunrise!
