Do not go here. Avoid if possible. Butera put me on too high of a dose of medication and in turn has caused me life altering illnesses and pain. Please if anyone reads this find someone else. If I could go back in time and reverse the debilitating pain he has caused I would but the least I can do is caution others to avoid this place like the plague.

I ve been going to Dr. Butera s office for I think around 10 years. I first went to Kim, who is about the kindest lady ever. But then I had to change to Dr. Butera because of insurance reasons. Dr. Butera is so so intelegent. He s made suggestions about non psychiatric issues and nailed them. Yes his office is very busy, but it s worth it because I am also one of those who take up their time. He is one of the reasons I m alive. Nurses Jennifer and Rachel are awesome! And Tina s runnin the show! Love them all. My only complaint about this office is the very long walk you have to take when you walk in the bathroom, to get to the toilet.

Of course Dr. Butera and his staff get 5 stars. I mean the diligence, honest, open and welcoming you get from Dr. Butera, who is by far the best psychiatrist I have ever had or met, from day one only leads to an open communication and finally being heard, understood and cared about. Yes, the office can get busy and sometimes getting a call back can take more than a day but the fact that you arent just some number under some stereotype and you realize you actually matter is worth the wait of getting a call back or the wait of getting into your appointment because you will never find a more caring, understanding, nonjudgmental and empathetic staff or psychiatrist. I love all the ones I interact with regularly and youll definitely connect with them and get an amazing bond with them. I actually enjoy going to the office and that says something in and of itself!

I had my appointment w/ NP Kim. I specifically wanted to get my ADHD treated. She absolutely ignored me and prescribed me 3 medications for symptoms of ADHD (depression, anxiety and insomnia) but refused to treat my actual problem. Wasted $175. So, I found an ADHD clinic, got treated and guess what?! All those issues resolved themselves. With 1 prescription. Plus now I actually have coherent thoughts. Edit for response: So you assume because someone wants their ADHD treated, they must be an addict? Also, Adderall? Who said anything about Adderall? I simply said I wanted my ADHD treated (modafinil works best for me which as a schedule 4 drug, has pretty low potential for abuse). This is a diagnosis I was given as a child, BTW and treated for several years. Which I explained. I didnt get angry, just felt completely dismissed (because I was). Also, its funny how the medication worked so well for me. Do no harm? Then why dont you treat the actual diagnosis? Its hard to be wrong, isnt it? Perhaps youre in the wrong profession. A quarter of your patient reviews seem to think so. Also, if youre concerned about drug abuse, give me a drug test. Its quite common, you know. I would have happily obliged to get the treatment I so desperately needed.

I ve seen Dr Butera for years on and off. I absolutely adore him. I ve been trying to call the office for a while now and the phone lines are always busy or get picked up by the answering machine. Edit: I still adore Butera, but, I ve been waiting a week for a medicine refill on my anti depressants that I NEED to function. The office phones go off 30 minutes before they close. The lady I talked to the first day was very rude and informed me that they ll get to me when they do because he has too many patients. Thats only IF you get to speak to someone at all. Most of the time the phone line is busy or goes to the the office is now closed . I m getting to a point of just finding another doctor. Again, absolutely adore Butera. Do not like how his office is run.

Over the years lve seen 3 other psychiatrists at hospitals, etc. People, you arent going to find a better psychiatrist. The staff isnt perfect, but they continue to improve under what must be a large workload-lve never had a life-threatening problem. Give them a break and give Dr. Butera a call if you need psychiatric care.

Dr Butera is great...he is one of about 3 people in my life that I trust & can tell him how I really feel. Hes attentive, never judges me...even when Im judgemental of myself. He is the first person to tell me that Im an important person. He is compassionate, intelligent & very patient...as we have tried several different combinations of medications. I can say so much good about him! I wouldve given 5 stars, but a recent issue came up last week when I tried to get a refill of a medication. After FINALLY getting through to someone, I explained where I needed it to be sent...long story short it was called into another pharmacy& they wont have it in stocks for days& its going to be almost $600 instead of $200. I dont want to be negative...Im sure its a misunderstanding. The other issue is that I picked it up last month on the 21st, but the pharmacist said theres a note stating not to fill it until the 26th...even the pharmacy staff is confused about the delay. Im not really sure what to do from here, but I know Im about to get really sick& am in an absolute panic about it. If anyone has any advice, please let me know! Dk if its just me, but really have a hard time getting through to office staff...even when I leave messages, I dont get my calls returned. Probably a misunderstanding or miscommunication somewhere. Having said that, I still recommend Dr Butera...hes saved my life& even though Im in a panic right now about running out of suboxone, I do think the world of Dr Butera& highly recommend him...no matter what you may be struggling with!

Big mistake, when I got home I was told I got cut off from my anxiety meds, more i have panic attacks all the time and my anxiety is on the roof but thats what I get for trying to get real help. Im just laying in bed holding my chest as usual praying the anxiety goes away. Just feels like Im being punished for opening up.

Therapists are great here. I recommend exploring here for a therapist. However Dr. Butera himself does not follow through with what he says. His nurses are the same. I still have yet to have a prior authorization for Vyvanse. This has been going on since he first Rx the medication in April. Took his nurse a month to contact me about a prior authorization. After arguing with her on the phone about needing one. She finally tells me to have insurance send the request. I should have never had to do that. They can easily go on Cover my Meds. They completed a paper prior authorization but apparently insurance never gets it. Which is why insurance wanted them to do it through Cover my Meds. I was hopeful at my last appt after speaking and directly messaging Dr. Butera. He said he himself would complete the prior authorization for my Vyvanse through Cover my Meds and he didn t. I also left a message for him asking him to send in Adderall XL if he wasn t going to do the prior authorization. He told me he would do that if the prior authorization didn t go through. No Adderall XL. No prior authorization completed. I am so disappointed in him. I thought better of him. I would never recommend him to anyone after my experience. Yes to therapists there but no to him managing your meds. He s very knowledgeable and listens to your needs. He s pleasant to talk to but the follow through and Meds management is painfully lacking. His office needs to switch from paper to digital and is severely lacking in organization and individuals needed to run the practice. Response** THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE APRIL AND YOU TOLD ME YOU WOULD DO THIS THAT YOU WERE NOT DOING PRIOR AUTHORIZATION ON CHEAPER MEDICATIONS. YOU ARE NOT OWNING UP TO YOUR MISTAKE. THIS IS WHY YOU COULDN T KEEP THE NEW PSYCHIATRIST TRYING YOUR PRACTICE OUT. NEGLIGENCE & I HAVE EVERYTHING DOCUMENTED.

Gifty Acheampong (LNP) put me on a cocktail of meds that made me suicidal. She was rude and offputting during our first appointment saying things like nobody can work 70 hours a week and wouldnt you like to gain some weight? Im 26, 6ft, 150lbs with a 6 pack....condescending and rude doesnt begin to describe her. I asked to speak with a different prescribing professional as I felt Gifty was uncaring of my concerns and wrote me off any time I had a valid concern. I was transferred to Dr. Gorely, who although was more understanding than Gifty, locked up like a clam the minute I suggested I had a condition he was not familiar with and told him benzos are the only thing that have helped so far. He advised that I get off the medications all together and see a neurologist, then come back and he would discuss medication options, to which I agreed. The next week I had an appointment with Rachel Rallis, a therapist at their practice that I was really looking forward to and mentally preparing for. Rachel is awesome and the only compassionate person Ive dealt with in the entire office. Well they illegally dismissed me over the weekend without my knowledge and didnt bother to notify me. Instead of getting the appointment with Rachel Ive waited over a month for, Im told by a receptionist, after having to call in 10 minutes past the appt start time, that Ive been dismissed by Gorely and Gifty. I asked to speak with the office manager who was incredibly rude and of little help. I left a message for the owner Dr. Butera, and have not received a call back. That was 2 months ago. I still havent seen a bill or formal letter of dismissal. Their phones are rarely answered and they will jack up your prescriptions and leave you on the side of the road to figure it out yourself. 10/10 avoid at all costs, for the sake of your own mental wellbeing.

Have watched this office be mismanaged to the point that, on the rare occasion that the phone is answered, my wife is tasked with solving an endless series of issues that she is not qualified or paid to resolve. Shes on a month without her meds because not a single nurse or secretary can work either a computer or a phone. Literally every useful bit of help has been gathered from endless calls to our pharmacy that result in one more simple task being dropped by this office. Have never seen such a useless staff at a medical facility.

If you don t have enough people to answer the phones then hire more. If you don t ha e enough people to respond back to messages left, hire more!! Plain and simple!!! I m on day 3 without my medication and don t see a call back coming any time soon, if I didn t work for a living I could go by and ask for it in person.

In the begging I really liked my appointments. But them I started having a lots of concerns, first, I never could talk to my DR when I needed to. Second, nobody never really answer the phone. Third, if I call and leave a message they can answer calling back, or maybe they will never ever answer. Then I stared doing therapy their. I had one app that went super good, but then, they never called me back to set another app, i never could talked to them again. The last problem i had, I think sometimes we think they will understand our feelings and emotions. They dont, it is okay because nobody can have the perfect empathy for nobody. Nobody is perfect. But them they kind of said: you just need to control yourself. That actually made me feel a looser and I got out the app feeling worst. I dont want to judge, I am just showing the facts that would help this amazing clinic improve even more. Thank you you guys and please improve!

Dr. Butera is great IF and only IF you are speaking directly to him. If you have a serious issue but no appointment, you wil hit wall after wall trying to get to speak to him bc his staff will NOT relay exactly what you need him to know IF they tell him at all. Ive had anxiety and panic attacks bc of their refusal to let me speak to him. Not professional when it comes to a patient who already requires treatment and meds for MDD, anxiety, and already has to deal with terminal cancer.

Every time I speak to one of the ladies that answers the phone they re very short with me and I m just trying to get everything they need to get my medications prescribed here. It has been a big hassle being on the phone multiple times with both doctors offices and I haven t even seen the doctor yet. All I have done is intake and then met with Dr. Butera s nurse.
