There s only a few places we saw to try sushi in waco so we tried this place as it s a little closer than austin(we re between austin and waco). Had to order pay and tip at a Kip s up front standing at the door. Then we got table and every single table we moved to was sticky. Finally got a cup of water and some napkins to clean the tables and in the middle of it they came and threw food on table in the middle of me trying to wipe it down and walked away. We got 3 rolls and potstickers. Potstickers were good. One roll was ok and other two we just left. I hate leaving food especially when we aren t full but there were not edible.

This place has gone so far below par. Customer service is nonexistent. Impolite and always snotty. Charged for food not ordered. They claimed we took the wrong order so went to pick up the correct orders. 3x more than the wrong order that they had claimed had been sitting out for pick up almost 2 hours...this was SUSHi!!! Our order was online and proof of time, quality of foods all documented. Talked to the manager who also refused to refund the charge for the wrong order - old sushi! The tonkatsu used to be so delicious and soft. NOW awful taste, tough meat and stringy. As previously stated by other reviews the customer service is terrible, rather rude and combative so I had to be as well. MAKE sure to check the freshness of your sushi specially!

The staff is not friendly. Everything is basically self service. Needless to say left food on table, left, and grabbed Wendy s across the street. Save yourself $60.

The most delicious Kimchi Bokkbeumbap fried rice and sushi rolls in town! They have Mega rolls that are as big as your forearm dang near. Staff is very kind when they drop off your food at the table! I liked that ordering at the register used to give the staff and you a chance to interact and ask any questions without having to chase someone down thats busy clearing tables. Now that there is a self-ordering station at the entrance it kind of feels more fast food like. They probably added this self-pay kiosk because of covid. I feel like its more of a negative than a positive at a restaurant like this. Also every time we eat there it looks like the owner is always at a table next to us on his phone. While he doesnt stare at everyone hes still sits there glancing around from time to time and all the customers with a irritated look on his face that is awkward too experience every time. It just feels weird that hes always there at a table somewhere nearby every single time you go. You can even see him behind my husband in the picture I added. Surely he has a back office area he can sit at unless hes eating or at least trying to look a little bit more pleasant or happy. Because the food is so good its probably a better overall experience to just order your food to go.

Not a fan of the fast-food self order screen.. but whatever. The seaweed salad was warm and tasted like wet dog. Def beyond its use-by date. The rolls sucked. HEB is definitely better quality. First time back in 3 years and I wish I hadn t. Will probably come back up later on today already feel gross inside. Decent little spot. Maybe they ll vacate and let a good restaurant take its place.

This place is great food. This is the kind of restaurant where you order at the counter and the bring it to your table BUT they aren t your wait staff. The poor reviews seem to be missing that key difference. The food is ALWAYS good. Well balanced seasoning, fresh ingredients, Great options. My favorite roll is the Baylor roll, super flavorful with crunchy bits on top. I tried the Korean bulgogi and it s delicious! It came with some kimchi, pickled zucchini? And some marinated bean sprouts. The parking is easy as it s in a strip mall parking lot. It s in my regular rotation.

Self order, the menu is not in alphabetical order so the menu on the screens and the wall are not in the same order. Menu on the screen is not detailed for sushi rolls, it just says the name. The jabchae is not the best here. It s served with broth very runny. We had sushi last night after my graduation ceremony and my son s Austin roll taste spoiled. Overall not the best quality but does the trick if you re hungry.

This place has really gone down hill. The nigri has rice that was the size of tennis balls, the fish was mid at best, and the place felt dirty and sticky. There is only little plastic cups for dipping sushi into soy and it didnt really fit inside the cups.

This was just disappointing. If you have ever had good sushi at all, avoid this place. The nigiri was beyond terrible. It is one of the most basic sushis to make and they somehow managed to goof it. The rolls were to large in size and were poorly put together. The restaurant itself felt gross and poorly managed. The service was okay. All they have is a kiosk and a few people at the front. Overall 1/5. Do not recommend at all.

I love the concept of having to grab your own cups, to go plates and silverware, so you dont bother anyone for something so small. They just should add a sign so people are aware. I will def eat here again. My recommendation is Wako roll and chicken udon noodles

The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the prices were quite reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality offered. What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service. Currently, Im disabled and the waitress went above and beyond to assist me with my order and drinks. Her attentiveness and kindness made my visit very comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you so much for the outstanding service and great food, Wako Roll. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for excellent sushi and superb customer care.

Seems like every time I go, the girls at the counter have the crappiest customer service. Also, on our last visit, they didnt have change for 100. What is the point in ppl paying cash if you cant even provide change? Mind you, our bill was over 40 dollars. Ordered at kiosk which appeared to be the default route to ordering. Once I completed my order the kiosk asked for a tip, I declined. The only interaction with a human was a staff member bringing my food to the table. There is a fountain drink machine available for self service. The condiments ( wasabi, ginger) are right beside the drink machine which virtually sets the customer up as their own server. I saw zero need to leave a tip. I saw no above and beyond or even a measure if service that rated a tip

So I stopped by here after seeing some good photos online. Needless to say, my portion size was not the same as advertised in the pictures. Maybe because I got mine to go? Next time I will take a seat. So there is a kiosk you use to order to-go and dine-in. I picked a meat around $14, and then it asked what kinda rice you want or no rice. I picked no rice, but the price didnt change, so I added the fried rice price still didnt change. Hit checkout price went up $2.50 for rice, then it asks for a tip. So I walked out of there spending $20, and I mainly got lettuce, cucumbers, and rice. For twenty dollars on just one person, I would go elsewhere.

It is a shame that the food is good here, because everything else is subpar. The family that owns this restaurant gives the impression that you are bothering them by coming in to dine. They are so rude and non-gracious. It is beyond irritating that they do not want customer contact, so they installed these computer screens where they force you to order. This takes away any customization options, too. At the end of the ordering process, the computer has the audacity to ask for a tip. The family that runs this restaurant does not greet customers upon entry, doesnt speak as you pass by their counter, etc. The water spout on the soda machine wasnt working correctly when I tried to get water, so I asked one of the employees for help. She asked another employee that was sitting down slurping food and looking at facebook why the water machine was not working. That employee just said, its not broken. That was the end of it. In this day and time when food costs so much, one would think that a local owned restaurant would appreciate every customer that walked through their door. At Wako Roll, they could care less if you are there or not. I will say that the food is good, but I hate going there and being treated rudely.

Country music? Why? Whose idea is that? Nothing inherently wrong with it, just not the best time or place in my opinion. Whatever the kind of music, it shouldn t be so loud, either. Personally, I d prefer oriental pop/classical music, or silence. For goodness sake, please finally fix the many, many annoying and unnecessary typos on the ordering kiosks. If I m ever invited to pay $3 or more for another fountian drink, I may become a faintin drink. And if the Heart Attack remains a recipe offered with spicy crap , I ll have a heart attack for real before I ve even finished ordering. Speaking of ordering, half the times I ve eaten here, my favorite order (black rice bibimbap with spicy squid and extra egg) arrives to our table cold, missing ingredients, or both. Their excessively high prices become less worthy of the gamble with every waning visit. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp near entrance, wide walking areas inside.

The worst thing you now have to place your food on a kiosk and the staff at the cash register sit and play on their phones, occasionally taking people their orders. They ought to be cleaning up the place instead of sitting around. Management it s time to look up and pay attention.

1st time to eat there. Personnel were friendly and helpful. Parking: Located in a shared shopping center, but this restaurant has several spaces, both handicapped and non-specified, close to entrance and visible from inside the restaurant.

The ordering system is terrible. The restaurant has a pantry that was located behind the booth we ate at which was odd. They also had a few refrigerators located at the front of the restaurant where you enter. The food was bland and barely had any flavor. I love Asian food but this was not good.

We waited 30+ min for 2 sushi rolls. The place was dirty ... lots of leftover food on tables. The sushi rice was weird and gooey and blocky at the same time. It looked like a cauliflower. But it was a sushi roll.

Not good. The order kiosk was hard to follow and did not work when I tried to pay. There were 6 dirty tables and lots of leftovers on each table. That should have been I sign to me that the sushi would not be good. The sushi rolls came out about 3 min after we ordered. So they were premade. They were served cool but not cold. The flavor was unappealing so we only ate a few from each roll. The only good thing - our large portion of udon noodles came out a few minutes later hot and delicious.

We Were trepidate about our incipient experience here, but we were very pleasantly surprised when the server appeared with miso soup. We both prefer tofu--if it must be present--to be very soft and nearly dispersed in the soup, but these cubes were very firm. They could be distributed among the bibimbop, though. The soup presented a texture that I, being very suspicious of bean-based material, felt wholly like a lentil or some other small bean smashed and suspended as a type of thickener. The serving size of the main dish was exceedingly generous, particularly in consideration of the moderate price: I see two full meals here in my bowl. We look forward to another visit for shared Wako rolls.

DON T BOTHER very disappointing. im a big fan of sushi/nigiri. the tuna and yellowtail nigiri was so thin i could have read the newspaper through it. at $6.50. for 2 pieces that fell apart it was way over priced and chincey and i would have ordered my usual 4 servings of that itself. the rice immediately fell apart and had to use the only utensil provided, a fork. the 2 rolls we ordered tasted good but fell apart as soon as touched. we asked for water and got two small cups and were pointed to the self serve station. and when ordering from the 2 electric self serve menu spots upon entering you are prompted to add a tip before you even order or choose a seat yourself. if you want a good experience and top notch food go somewhere else. parking right up front was plentiful, lol

In my opinion, the best international restaurant in Waco. No frills service (order at register) and atmosphere (just regular booths and tables - and a sort of neglected bathroom), but the food is outstanding- both Korean and Sushi items. Fresh and authentic.

This is my first review of a business ever. The arrival was terrible with a touch screen for ordering and immediate payment. People behind us were impatiently waiting. No decent drinks. Staff was just chatting and giggling among themselves nobody even greeted or acknowledged us. But then the sushi. I have no words for the worst sushi experience in my life. Right now I am worried if this will make me sick. We were in and out in 10 minutes! Staff does not care at all. I could go on ... I cannot believe that a business like this can stay in business.

I feel like the food was prepared by someone who has no idea about rolls and Korean cuisine. I didnt expect them to be excellent, but average or close to, at least giving flavors. The quality of rice in rolls. They dont even know how to cook rice. The mushy fillings when the name says crispy tempura and soft shell caps. I just dont recommend this place. If you want to eat here, order teriyaki chicken which will be the safest option.

Its one of the better places for sushi Ive been to around central Texas, but is alright overall. The price seems alright for a food $15 - $20 per person. There isnt much service to speak of here so once youve gone they bring out your food other than that you get your own. They have order kiosks as you walk in and if its busy and youre not a regular the door environment can be off putting as people pile up waiting their turn without a lot of room.

I had gone here twice with my significant other. (Shes also a frequent diner here). The food was okay during previous experiences but it has slowly gotten worse. We went last night and noticed the food was not palatable and had to leave barely touching our food. Reasons: 1. Spicy Mayo tasted stale/old. They gave us some that was not refrigerated and just sitting out on the counter. 2. Kimchi tasted dirty, we believe they forgot to wash their cabbage. 3. We got fried shrimp tempura and after eating we noticed it did not taste like shrimp. I opened it up and it was imitation crab. Yes the ones you get from the store for very cheap. They charged $8-$9 and only gave me maybe 4-5 full pieces. 4. The Waco Roll was distasteful compared to other times my significant other had eaten it. It was smelly and tasted wrong. 5. The food is not worth the price. Needless to say we will not be going here again. You can go many other places for cheaper and better quality food. Especially the Boba which was incredibly overpriced for the size.

truly I m not a Karen but this must be said. I ve enjoyed Wako Roll for a while now however, when I ate there yesterday the sushi tasted the worst it ever has. Everything in the roll from the rice to the tuna tasted not fresh at all. I ve never had a negative sushi experience like this, EVER. The miso soup was oddly bright orange and tasted sour as well. Just overall a very unpleasant experience for a high price of sushi rolls. I hope things get better and they fix whatever is going and take this as constructive criticism. Also please remove the pile of kitchen storage supplies from the dining room, it s such an eye sore and makes me feel like I m eating sushi in a basement.

We ve frequented this restaurant over 10 times and the staff seem to be getting more and more entitled and rude. Tonight, we ordered a take out special meal for a family member s going away dinner and this is how they plated the pork bulgogi. It was mostly grease and hardly any of the entree. I couldn t stomach picking out the 7 small pieces of pork so I took the plate back to the restaurant while my family ate their dinner at home. The entire team of staff behind the counter just stared at me and didn t offer to make this right by either replacing the plate or giving a refund. After 2 awkward minutes the girl with a complacent attitude grabbed another employee and he rudely asked, so do you want a refund or something? They reluctantly gave a cash refund when I told them I would not make a second trip and ask my husband to get up from the dinner table at home to show his card. I don t understand how anyone working in food would even plate this and call it palatable.
