I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Olive Branch, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience, thanks in large part to our waitress, Tori. From the moment we arrived, Tori s warm welcome set the tone for the evening. Her friendly demeanor and genuine enthusiasm made us feel right at home. Tori was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations tailored to our preferences. She took the time to explain the specials and even suggested wine pairings that elevated our meal. Throughout the evening, she was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and checking in at just the right moments. The food at The Olive Branch was delightful, with fresh ingredients and expertly crafted dishes. Tori s passion for the restaurant and its offerings was evident, and her service truly enhanced our dining experience. Overall, if you find yourself at The Olive Branch, be sure to ask for Tori. Her exceptional service is a standout feature of this charming restaurant, making it a place worth returning to. I can t wait to visit again!

We have been waiting for 30 minutes which is ok, then we ordered our food. After another 30 minutes we got our food, there were families around us who came here after us who got food and already ate it all. I don t know what happened to our food but my avocado toast was cold, egg was so cold. It looks like our food was left somewhere and nobody cared. Don t recommend to come here again.

Took my family of 5 for Sunday brunch here this August 24. Great ambience in the historic building. Great service- our server guided us in our food decision (she was not wrong). The food was top notch. Ive paid more for food of this caliber at other restaurants, and I feel the price and proportions at The Olive Branch are a great value. When were back in town they are getting my repeat business.

Stopped in for brunch and it was fantastic. I had the Farmers Hash and it hit the spot. I noticed so many other dishes being served around me that I would love to come back and try, too. Service was great and coffee was excellent! There s a reason there was a short wait for a table! Highly recommend.

We were visiting Waco for the weekend. Had a couple of locals recommend the Olive Branch. They were right, the food was awesome. I had the steak and egg hash. It was the best I ever had anywhere ! The steak was cooked perfectly. It had peppers, onions and potatoes with just the right amount of garlic. Perfection ! My wife had the cinnamon walnut pancakes. It came with a side of eggs and bacon. The pancakes were perfect too. The service was top notch.

Waited over 15 minutes for someone to take out order and then waited another 30+ minutes for our food on a Sunday afternoon. Interestingly, tables(larger party and a couple of smaller ones) seated after us got their food before us. Never really received the coffee we ordered or accompaniments with the meals and a cupcake we received was stale and dry. They discounted the food. All in all, average food with terrible service in a great location.

We found this place right outside the Convention Center and enjoyed it a ton. Food was good, service was excellent, and the place is very cute. Try the upstairs terrace. We ordered the avo toast and the menu did not say it had red pepper flakes so we noted it to the staff and they offered to replace and took it off the check. Thanks for making it right for us. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu and it is a friendly enough place to feel ok bringing kids.

At first we were very happy with the service but, 35 minutes later we hadn t gotten our food. The server said the kitchen was behind however, the tables around us had already been served their food and were checking out. Finally, who we think might be the owner, approached us and asked if we needed anything. I explained that we needed our food. The chaos ensued. She came back and explained that the server never submitted our order and was never placed. They kept saying that they were going to make it right, that they were going to go ahead and take care of our bill, and brought us to go pastries. Honestly, that was not what we were looking for, all we wanted was our food. They also reminded us to make sure we give a good google review. Next thing we know we get the bill. We were charged after they said we wouldn t be and to make things worse the server never came back with change. So, for the bad service and chaos, the server ended up getting a $24 tip on a $36 tab. We will not be back.

I was expecting a more boutique like experience. The website and photos look great. However when you walk in the decor is lacking. The food was good, but was not as fresh tasting as I was expecting based off their marketing. The music was all over the place, no decorations anywhere, staff were wearing shirts of different colour. It was a half hearted attempt to an elevated diner experience. Wait staff were super busy, I also wasn t told what drink options were available when I asked; but I understand since they were trying to get people in and out.

Ate here on a Thursday night after arriving for a weekend conference (three people). Place was totally empty (literally) when we arrived. Our server was extremely friendly. Took a long time for the food to come out despite the fact it was just three meals exactly the same, and we suspect only one person was working in the kitchen at the time. When it did come it was hot, tasted great, and was a solid value. As we finished up and then left a lot more people were coming in, so could be they man the place a bit more during the later hours. Otherwise, a good experience and great food. Would try again.

The Olive Branch was originally born out of the idea that communities gather around great food and drink - From daily restaurant business to high-end caterings, bringing people together over modern food and vintage wine is what we love to do. Our bistro situated in the heart of Downtown Waco strives to deliver a welcoming vibe, Hand-made baked goods and freshly-prepared foods to cater to everyone. No matter what s on your plate, you have a spot at our table. I like it. I think their mission says it all. My experience was true to their word. A good find in Waco.

I was craving a chicken salad sandwich and saw they had one on the menu. Although the sandwich for me was mediocre the service, the pastry, and their availability for feed back puts them squarely at 5 stars. Emily was my server and she was super attentive personable and just a joy to be served by. Definitely do recommend this great little stop over in your travels or if you live in the area! Cheers!

The food was delicious, portions were large, everything was freshly made with high quality ingredients. It was laid back and calm, not very crowded and we liked that as well. Although we are not from the area when we pass back through we will stop again! To the owner: Great job on never giving up through all of the challenges youve faced! Your restaurant is something special and Im sure will continue to grow through your faith in Gods provision, hard work and perseverance. The atmosphere was great, really trendy. The service was mediocre, but it was busy. The food was just meh for what it cost us. I brought a large group of ladies in to eat and I just felt that $12 for a medium sized plate of macaroni was way overpriced. I had a salad with fried chicken on top and there were french fries mixed in with the chicken that obviously didnt belong in my meal. I mentioned it to my server and she didnt offer a discount or anything- or even offer to replace my meal with another. Which, in my opinion, was poor service. There was maybe 6 small pieces of chicken in the whole salad. I do believe there were more pieces of french fries in my salad than chicken. Pretty disappointed and honestly I dont know if Ill be bringing our ladies group back.

The only issue we had was when the waitress tried to input our order, she messed up and didnt fully submit our order. She was able to catch her mistake after a bit, but this caused a delay in our food coming out. The staff was incredibly apologetic and even gave us a discount on our meals due to this error. Every other aspect was great. The food was delicious, and everything about the order was still correct ( there had been a couple of customizations made to some meals). The portions are also very generous! Would still recommend even with the delay. I appreciate the staff for being able to correct the mistakes and having good service.

The worst breaded French toasts ever. The biscuits and sausage n gravy horrible. They were not biscuits but something else and hard. Also they served it with just a little bit of gravy. Expensive, however servers were nice and attentive if that s any compensation. Don t waste your money on below average food. Mac Donald s would have been better.

Well....first time in and 50 mins later, our waiter finally told us they forgot to put our order in. 20 mins into our visit, I finally got my mimosa. Not very busy at the time. Server needs training. Probably wont come back and thats unfortunate.

We were very impressed by the food. Everyone at the table was remarking about what they were eating, and it was all positive (There were 10 of us, so thats impressive). The prices are actually great for what you are getting. The value is realized after you taste it. I ate the best chicken-fried steak Ive ever had. I usually dont order it because its the same everywhere and it seems like most restaurants just warm it up and throw some gravy on it. This chef actually put love (and seasoning) in it. All of the food was creative, fresh, cooked well, and delicious. We didnt get dessert, but it all looked amazing. Next time. Vegetarian options: I didnt order it, but they had an impossible burger which we will probably try next time. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu and coloring page. The Mac and cheese wasnt overcooked mush. It was slightly al dente and my kids really enjoyed it. Wheelchair accessibility: Didnt see any issues. Tables were far apart, doors were wide. Ground was level.

Atmosphere was nice but food choices were not for me. Service was very slow and uncaring (and they were NOT short handed). I chose the only menu item that seemed interesting to me, only to be told they dont serve it on week ends. I was essentially told tough luck by my waiter -- no accommodations made. No apology, just a sneer. Got the chicken salad sandwich that tasted like saw dust. I had to eat it anyway, as my party had to move on, and there was nothing else on the menu I wanted. And I was really hungry. Waiter just said too bad. Dont go there unless you like to eat starchy slop, and dont mind staff with attitudes. Parking: Plenty of parking. Not many people there

Breakfast was room temperature. Decent coffee. The strangest thing was the restrooms. There is no dedicated men s restroom. Instead there is a women s, family, and male/trans restrooms. The male/trans restroom had a trash can labeled feminine hygiene trash which was obviously empty! Pretty sure the waitress was a man. You could consider these things a positive if you are into that or a negative if you aren t into trans stuff. But either way, food wasn t very good.

Only had breakfast so can t comment on anything else, but breakfast is the , best in Waco. Anyone who complains about it should go to rocket cafe and be happily mediocre. The deets 1. Coffee is legit, NOT the watered-down-scalding-hot Shipley s kind of coffee. 2. Fried chicken biscuit was amazing. Chicken seasoning was so good. 3. Pancakes were top notch with fresh fruit and homemade whipped cream topping. 4. Sausage was clearly hand made, but had a kick of spice to it so be aware. 5. Service was friendly without being too friendly. 6. On a good weather day, ask to sit in their upstairs patio. All in all, everything we had was delicious, scratch made, served well, and heartily portioned. Venue has plenty of space for larger groups.

Waco has a number of very good breakfast or brunch places. This place, to me, is the best in Waco. Yes, I understand how that is a big statement. Their avocado toast was good, and so is the Power Bowl with bacon.

It s not the usually that defines quality and superior service; it s the ability to do these consistently and catering to everyone. I waited more than 45 mins to be seated and an order was placed. The server came back and informed me that they are no longer serving breakfast! As they were informing me, French Toasts and eggs were being served at other tables. Arrghhh! They could have posted the breakfast hours or announced to those who have been waiting that such a cutover is approaching. And if you check their google ages there is a breakfast anytime menu. I guess false advertising?

My husband and I were very excited about trying a new place. After reading other reviews and looking at the menu, we decided to give The Olive Branch a try. It was a rather meh experience. We placed our order and then the waiting began. It seemed to take forever to get our food and once it arrived it was decidedly lack-luster. I opted for the Cajun Pasta. The description made it seem amazing and anything that has the word Cajun in it almost seems to promise that it will be flavorful and delicious, with a hint of spice. What came was most definitely not flavorful. It was, in effect, BLAND. The chicken was dry and the pasta, though cooked well and coated in sauce, didnt seem to live up to the promise the dish seemed to imply was coming. Probably the highlight of the dish was the little piece of bread that came with it. My husband got the TOB burger. While the burger was large and had lots of fresh looking ingredients on it (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.), the burger was also lacking in flavor. The egg that my husband added to it did improve the richness of the food, but shouldnt a burger already have some richness and flavor on its own? The high point of his meal was the french fries. Those, at least, were crispy and delicious. We tried the house sausage and it was decent. Since my husband also makes sausage, we were both excited about trying something professionally made. After sampling it, we decided that his is superior, although what we were served was okay. One of the things that struck me after looking at the menu we received versus the menu online, was the absence of some of the choices. There are more pasta dishes on the online menu and there were NO house specialties available on the paper menu from the restaurant. Part of that may be because we were there for lunch and they may have a limited selection then. With all this being said, the service was good, although, once again, not great. Having ruminated on it for awhile, I think I will be good with not repeating a visit there. If you are looking for something delicious, look elsewhere. If you are looking for something overpriced and with meh food, this may be the place for you.

The hostess was nice, 20 minute wait. The waitress was nice an the restaurant was busy. Looking at other peoples meals the food plates look like art work an delicious. The menus they had 2 an it was simple to read. On 1 menu had drinks an the other 1 had the fo9d an drinks also. We placed our order an didnt take long for our food to arrive. I got the Brisket Skillet, everything was in a Skillet when it arrived. The food in the middle was hotter under the egg when cooked then out side of the egg was barely luke warm.

NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. I went here to have lunch and catch up with friend I hadn t seen in a long time. Food was good but shortly after we finished eating our server abruptly asked us to leave so they could have our table to sit someone else. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant! There were only 2 people waiting to be seated and there were plenty of seats available on the outside patio area. Waco has so many other eating options. Customers beware. I won t be going back.
