Arrived at 6:00, not busy at all. Very slow to be waited on for drinks, over 15 minutes. Food came out extremely fast. It was just ok. Very little flavor on anything. Started to get busy around 6:30. Waiter never checked back. We were wanting another round of drinks, but he never came back. Thought about running the bill since he NEVER returned to our table. It is a tiny place and our tale was facing the bar!! A loud group came in, they got lots of attention from several employees. We finally had to ask the bus boy for our check. Won t be back. Can t imagine how bad the service would be if they were busy. My husband asked for house vodka. Tito s?? $10 Definitely box mash potatoes

Food is limited especially when they say there s no food truck at a certain time. We went there for dinner and there was only one waiter who was also the bartender. We were expecting some energy from a whiskey bar. It lacked that and the apps were basic. We eventually had to go find somewhere else to eat dinner

First time we ve been into Barnett Whiskey. Sienna made our first experience fantastic. She was super helpful and incredibly nice. She picked out the bacon wrapped dates for us and they were amazing. Overall the experience was great! Staff is attentive and very friendly and the atmosphere is really cool. Husband loved his cheeseburger and House made potato chips. I ordered the shrimp and grits from the brunch menu. The shrimp was great but the grits really didnt have much flavor. You would think with green chilies and Cajun gravy that would be exploding with flavor but I found the grits mixture to be very bland. Again the shrimp was great. This wont stop us from returning!

We were looking for a good brunch place in town and this place came up and man, it was a great choice! The place was welcoming and fun to come into and the staff was on point! We immediately were greeted with nice menus and able to give our drink order. There was even a whiskey event going on that sounded so fun! All of the food options looked so good, I will have to be back to try all the options for sure! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great! We also saw that they have live concerts and food trucks so we will definitely be back to try all the things! Desi, the manager, came over and introduced herself and told us about all the things to do and was amazing. I would highly recommend coming and trying this place for brunch, drinks or whatever else you want to have!

I went there for the first time and it looks very interesting. The drinks menu really looked good. The food Menu sounds interesting. Unfortunately, I went with my wife and we waited in the table for 50 minutes, and never even got a drink. We were able place an order after like 25 minutes and that was then end of it. As I was walking out after 50 minutes with nothing to drink or eat, I was asked if we needed anything. This review is purely based on service, as I was not able to try anything.

For whatever reason, they dont answer the phone when you call a day ahead for reservations (according to the website, you should have a reservation for Sunday Brunch). We started calling at 10:00AM and literally 19 attempts over 4 hours and, still no one answered the phone. We had looked at the menu online and had decided on what we wanted before we got there. Well, they had just changed over to a new menu 2 days before and hadnt updated the website, so we were a bit disappointed in the Brunch selections. Overall, the food was okay. The sausage gravy was disappointing; a tablespoon of dry sausage crumbled on top of the gravy just didnt cut it. The burgers were good, although a bit over cooked. The shrimp and grits were under seasoned. We drove over an hour to experience this particular restaurant. I just dont think the quality of the food will justify trying it again.

First off, anyone who loves whiskey needs to visit here. Biggest selection in Texas. Barnetts provides more than just whiskey. It has something for everyone. Love music Thursday through Saturday. Chefs put out some killer food in the bar. And the Smokehouse of Waco food truck they have outside has the best wings in town! Bring the family for a meal or come get a cocktail! It took 20 minutes for my husband to read through their thick menu and finally pick a pour. If you are a whiskey snob, definitely visit. We had the special of the day, which was a seafood boil. The service took forever, it was extremely loud and we got charged more than 40 bucks per person for a ridiculous amount of whiskey. It is unacceptable. The bread pudding was cold on the inside, burnt on the outside and hard as a rock, it was inedible and felt like concrete. It is highly upsetting because I really like the atmosphere and the decoration of the place. But it felt like a waste of money and time.

The service was terrible. It took almost 15 minutes before someone came by to take our drink order. Thankfully that time gave me an opportunity to decide what I wanted to drink and eat. Once our order was placed it was 25 minutes until another person arrived to give us our appetizers and ask if we wanted another drink. Not long after our food came out and it was cold. Needless to say I was less than happy. After politely asking for it to be reheated and receiving a burger that was slightly warmer than before I was done. I asked for a the check and paid for the entire meal without complaint. It was then that we were approached and asked if there was a way to fix the issues we had. We declined and were asked to wait while they spoke with the manager. I will say she was quite apologetic and did refund the cost of the burger. Thankfully I was just busting so I ll never have to go there again 1/10 wouldn t recommend

I have absolutely no idea how this place has positive reviews. We came through Waco and stopped for lunch due to the good reviews. We sat directly at the bar and proceeded to watch 4 separate bartenders completely ignore us for about 20 minutes until someone finally came over. Besides taking our order for food and drink, she basically never came back and continued to ignore anyone else at the bar. Now we waited for our food maybe 25 minutes only to be handed the worst burgers I think I ve ever had. Tasted like a hospital cafeteria and was cold. To top it all off, when I asked for the check there was a dead bug on the clipboard. When I pointed it out, the bartender who originally took our order an hour ago finally came back just laughed and handed me back the check. Picked this place after reading two articles that it was top brunch spot in Waco. Would not have chosen a bar otherwise. Staff was friendly and greeted us fairly quickly. Went down hill from there. Ordered starter of sausage kolaches. Later ordered bacon starter and our three meals. 30 minutes later the sausage kolaches came out and all looked burned on top and bottom, but actually tasted ok. About 30 minutes later waiter finally came by again and asked if we needed anything else. We then asked how much longer on the remainder of our order as if he had forgotten we had more food. He said let me check and came back quickly with the bacon, which was greasy and lukewarm, telling us the rest would be out shortly. Food came one order at a time. Fried eggs were burned, but undercooked, scrambled eggs had brown burns and poached eggs were runny. English muffin looked ok, but tasted burned. Think they need to clean their griddle. All of us agreed it was the worst meal we had ever had. Both men had ordered extra eggs and could barely finish one of the three. All sitting here sick to our stomachs thinking about it. Maybe off day in the kitchen and we re short staffed, but definitely won t get a second chance for breakfast. Had to chase down a third server to pay our bill as other two that had come to our table never returned. Wish I had taken some photos to share.

The atmosphere and menu are great. Only problem is that the service is lacking. I can understand that they may be busy and understaffed, but the bartenders need to at least acknowledge your existence. When there are 5 people at the bar and you are prepping, just look up and state I will take care of you in just a minute instead of ignoring them for 10 minutes and refusing to even look up and acknowledge their existence. They are great at making drinks, but have no soft people skills.

Reviews were good and whiskey was in the name so my spider senses drew me that way. It was brunch time on a Sunday we stood at the door for several minutes looking around for a wait to be seated or seat yourself sign but found neither no wait staff addressed us which hurt my feelings a tad. We re out of towners so had no idea what we were doing. Sat at the bar and it was some time before we were helped. Wait staff seemed pretty frazzled from the crowd. Was a decent experience besides some of the issues I mentioned. Would give them another try on another less busy day.

So, I have been there 4 times now. The first time I went was around lunch and service was fast and good. Second time was a busy thursday night and service was good for how packed it was. Third time same thing, but no pme ever came to ask for an order instead I had to go to the bar to order a drink. From those experiences I would rate this place a 4 or 5 star place. However I just went there today(4/13/24) and was given the bourbon list after sitting down at a half full bar. I proceeded to wait for 30 minutes and not one of the 4 bar tenders even looked at me or asked of I was being helped. Waiting for 30 minutes and than left after being disregarded for the 30 minites I was there. Not sure why the other couple or taavles got served and I didnt but this was attrociois from the staff. I likely will not return again after this expereince despite plans to bring family and friends. Time to find a different bar!

Looked up this place on the web. Saw they had a Happy Hour with food and drinks. When my group arrived, we were told the Tuesday Happy Hour only included drinks...not food like what was/is advertised. Disappointed...the waiter said I dont have anything to do with the website. Bad response. After receiving our drinks, we proceeded to order some House Made Chips until we figured out what we wanted to eat. Well, that was another false claim. The dishwasher brought out a plate of store bought chips that were poured out of a bag and presented as if they were House Made Chips. When asked the waiter if, indeed, this is what they did, his response was, Yes. Needless to say, we left w/o ordering anything else. We lost faith in the integrity of the business. St.Patty s day at J.S. Barnett was the most fun I ve had on a night out in years. The staff was warm, welcoming and energetic. The drinks were reasonably priced and the atmosphere conjured up feeling of a celebration at a quaint local pub. Wasnt told before we ordered our appetizers and drinks that we essentially wouldnt be able to order anything else because of an event. This was not our waiters fault as he was also not made aware. I was told I wasnt going to be able to order the dish I went there for because of this event, after wed already been there for about 40 minutes. Thanks to Cody and Dezeray we loved our Brunch experience at Barnetts Whiskey House. Upon arrival we asked for water with LOTS of lemon while we decided what to order. Within a minute, we had our waters and a glass full of lemon wedges. Now thats service! Each of our party of three had a cocktail with her entree. Visited Waco and saw the selection of bourbons and whiskeys this place had and told my wife we had to try it. Selection was impressive! Ordered my favorite bourbon and the waiter brought me a book with something like 1,200 varieties they had. Couple sitting at the table beside us seemed to be enjoying their food, so the anticipation grew. Waited. Waited. Asked about our drinks. Waited. Probably 15 minutes to get the drink and the place wasn t half full. Food was ok at best. Ordered a burger and it was not hot, and the waiter was hard to find. Probably would not post a bad review from my one experience, until the couple beside us jumped up because there were bugs on their table. Roaches, but they just called them water bugs and when I mentioned it to the waiter, his response was extra protein I guess . This place seemed to have an awesome atmosphere and could be a cool place, but I was very disappointed.

Heres the deal we ordered a double Mitchlers Celebration $1750. We were all clearly intoxicated well before arriving. We would have appreciated if the server confirmed the order, with the price, with the table before placing it since there were 10 of us ordering individually. Tab comes out and it was over $4k, also the server we felt was obligated to confirm if this was together or separate. The service rating is what it is since it was a wednesday night and the place was empty and she was not attentative. Atmosphere of such a comprehensive liquor list was that of a local dive hole in the wall, charm is one thing, the kind of charm this place has isnt that charming.

There are TONS of whiskeys here, BUT 50% of the selections I asked for they either didnt know what it was or were out of (I ordered from their own printed menu and picked very basic selections) so maybe just luck of the draw?? But the staff seemed not very educated on the whiskeys they actually had or if they even had it. I also noticed the locals were not drinking the whiskey and mainly doing beers on tap and mixed well drinks. So I guess its just a normal bar that houses a lot of whiskeys they dont know much about. Cool building though, nice atmosphere.
