First time at the Woodlands location. I love the location. We walked in and were greeted by the host. We were 15 mins early for our reservation, however, they were able to seat us immediately. Our waitress was really friendly. My burger was supposed to be medium and I got a well done pattie, and she took care of it quickly and kept me updated on the progress of the remake. She even brought me a dessert at the end of our meal for the inconvenience. The ambiance is nice and the food was good. Our table ordered : The cheeseburger with a fried egg and bacon, Onion rings (extra charge)The chicken Fried Ribeye (huge portion), hushpuppies, Crab balls (hushpuppies), Grilled Chicken sandwich and 1 more meal that I cant remember. Overall, a great visit. Great staff and our experience was superb. Well be back.

We spent so much time waiting to be waited on and this was early afternoon, 4pm! They had an item on the menu, but then we were told only available for brunch, but it was on the regular menu. The fries were good, but they were crumbs like from the bottom of the basket. We were celebrating a birthday.

My wife and I went here a year ago as a first time diner. Its nice that you can sit outside, but the service was slow and the food was unflavorful and mediocre. I said I wouldnt go back, but decided to not be close minded and try it again. So we made reservations on a Saturday night a few weeks ago to sit outside since we had a cooler than normal period. We where seated and waited 15min before Frank or Freddy( I can remember)came over to let us know he would be with us shortly. Roughly 5 minutes goes by and he comes back to orders drinks and hush puppies. So weve been seated for 20 minutes at this point. My wife gets a margarita and I get a draft Modelo. So he brings my wifes drink within 5 minutes and then the hush puppies come out. We eat half the hush puppies and she almost finish her drink and had to ask again where my beer was. He brings it out and in the bottom of the glass is a brush head from the beer tap. Needless to say I asked to see the manager and expressed my discontent with the service and the issue with my beer. He offers to take care of everything but at this point I was so put off we left and went next door to escalantes. We had drinks within 5 minutes after sitting down. There was no sense of urgency from Frank and for reference there where two couples inside and roughly half there patio was full hardly busy enough to warrant some of the worst service Ive had. Needless to say I will never go back to this place. There are so many restaurants in the woodlands they better step up their game or will end like the local pour next to them and be out of business.

I went here for my birthday. This was during the power outage caused by hurricane Beryl. The staff was polite, and understanding of us wanting to stay a bit longer due to lack of power at our own house. The food was fantastic. My wife & I ordered two different meals and swapped half to share with eachother. I got the breakfast burrito, which was excellent. She ordered the birria grilled cheese, neither one of was super impressed with the flavor of the grilled cheese itself. However, the birria meat was great! The portions of all the food were large compared to other restaurants. It was a bit loud in the restaurant, which normally isn t a problem for me. I just had a long day. So if you re easily overwhelmed by sound or looking for a quiet place, I wouldn t suggest this spot. Overall we had an amazing experience here!

State Fares name conjures visions of a deluxe Cracker Barrel, but the reality is an elegant, relaxed, yet still upscale restaurant with refreshing takes on classic foods that werent greasy at all. There are two other locations in the Houston area. I went in for Houston Restaurant Week and tried the Sweet Green Salad and Cheeseburger. The salad was surprisingly fresh and light, and I loved the mixture of nuts and apples; I wish it had come on a larger plate. The cheeseburger wasnt greasy; the bun was light, and all the flavors worked well. The fries were seasoned and matched the burger perfectly. The restaurant itself feels high-end, but with its mixtures of plush seating, sofa, and natural woods, it still feels inviting and cozy. There is a bar, but it by no means dominates the restaurant. Oddly, the menus are crinkled paper, which doesnt match the foods quality or the restaurants atmosphere. The restaurant was slow at 1 PM on a weekday, with only a few people in the relatively cavernous main dining hall, so I opted to sit at the bar. Value-wise, its a costly lunch, especially if you have a cocktail, which was also excellent. Overall, it was just a surprising experience and an enjoyable lunch; Ill be back to try dinner or brunch with family. Parking: You can park at the Whole Foods parking garage and walk across the street.

I ve been to State Fare a bunch of times. This is my first time at this particular location. I was pretty excited because the menu was a bit different from the others. I was pretty try multiple things. Liz was our server . We sat outside because I had my toddler with me and let s be honest a 2 year old and a restaurant is not always ideal. Liz came to the table and brought us waters. Asked if we wanted drinks we ordered drinks. She asked if we would like appetizers. We declined. Someone came with our drinks pretty quickly. When I tell you Liz never came back to get our order. We sat there for 15 mins. And She didn t ask if we wanted food or even a water for my son. We decided we would pay for our drinks and leave. It wasn t until my best friend went to pay for our drinks at the bar that Liz magically appeared. And had the audacity to ask her if we wanted to order something to go. Or if we were going to the concert happening near by. Very very disappointing. We just ate somewhere else. What a waste of time. We literally sat and watched as everyone else outside were waited on by their server. Sitting on the patio is lovely though. You have the view of the ducks and everything. Very nice

Very well seasoned without being to much. Great place to eat at. Prices are reasonable. I paid 27 for the shrimp and grits but it was so much I could not finish it.

State Faire is a great option for brunch/lunch, but don t expect anything show stopping. If you need to please the foodie and the picky eater in the same meal, this is the perfect place to visit! The drinks are decent, but I noticed there are sometimes seasonal drinks online that aren t listed on the physical menu, so keep an eye out! The service and environment is fabulous! Absolutely nothing to critique there. Good people and a good hangout spot!

I ve been to one of the other State Fare locations, and had excellent food. This location served me unseasoned burned toast with some corn on it for the elote avocado toast , took an exceptional amount of time to serve my partner and I, and we had to hunt servers down to even get attention to get served. Abysmal experience, absolutely horrid in comparison to their other location.

We tried this super cute/trendy restaurant for date night. The service was excellent and atmosphere was chic and cozy. The two stars given in our review are only for the atmosphere and service. The food doesn t even deserve one star. We started our meal off with the empanadas then proceeded with redfish and fish tacos for our entrees. Empanadas lacked flavor and were bland but the mashed potatoes served alongside were good. Onto what I hoped would be the best part, entrees! The redfish smelled fishy, crabmeat was not fresh and there was so much lemon butter on top, that s all you could taste. We subbed green beans for the veggie and those were undercooked. The fish tacos were dry and each had about 1/4 cup of guac piled on. Think long John silvers rolled into a tortilla. Actually their fish may be better. Rather than garnishing the taco, it s all you tasted. We really wanted to love this place but it needs some healthy work in the kitchen. Excellent staff and space though!

The food here was a great value for the price! I was traveling to UNT Dallas for some classes and managed to make this stop. I can tell you it did not disappoint. I got the chicken fried steak and eggs, and I split pancakes and bacon with a friend. The plates were huge and we could not believe that the silver dollar pancakes were only 5$. Parking: There was a parking spot right across from the restaurant so it was not a long walk like other places in the woodlands area.

This place is beautiful! However the food is very subpar. First, we started with the fried green tomatoes, which gets 5 stars for presentation, however the flavor profile was not there.. very little seasoning so unfortunately it fell extremely flat. The mimosa flight is very good as well as the spicy chicken thighs and that s about it. Our other food, the pancakes (tough to cut through) grits, eggs and hash browns were meh. Our waiter, Josue, was absolutely amazing and I m so glad we had him!

Went with the family on Saturday before Mothers Day. Started out by getting burned toast on the Avocado toast appetizer. Order our meals and then had multiple issues to the point two meals were re-made, eggs received were iced cold and rubbery, eggs were missing, seafood platter was fried so hard it couldnt be eaten. The wait staff and manager though did a good job of trying to correct all the issues. A sandwich was ordered and asked that half be packed up to go before coming to the table. They charged $3.00 to cut the sandwich in half and put it in a to go box whereas getting the whole sandwich and boxing at the table would have cost $0. That doesnt make sense to me.

Overall not somewhere I d consider dining at again based on the initial experience. To be clear, it s all about the food. I can dine in a hole in the wall as long as my food is great. The place is beautiful and has a wonderful atmosphere. A friend took me out to dinner and we were so excited to eat here. The Southern Farm board was amazing and if the rest of the food was that good. I would have given 5 stars. I got the birria grilled cheese it was 90% bread. The fries were ok. Plain no flavor. Kinda soggy. But dark like they were over cooked. Brussels were wonderful. Crab cakes were ok but nothing to write home about. Funnel cake dessert was delicious. Drinks: cranberry mule was good and the cinnamon apple gimlet was ok. Not much apple flavor. Waiter was great very attentive. Will try again because every place has off nights.

My parents are in town and we decided to check out this location. My wife and I had dined at the downtown location previously and enjoyed it. My shrimp and andouille gumbo had not a single piece of shrimp and had to send it back. My fried chicken was dry as well. The cauliflower and potatoes that accompanied the dish were overcookee. Waitress forgot about one guests drink. Sons meal was missing ranch that was ordered when entrees were taken. Dissapointing experience.

First time here and sadly I didn t enjoy the food. The hostess and waiter was very nice. I order the fried chicken biscuit. The biscuit was as hard as the table. The fried chicken was mainly fried batter and hardly no chicken. It crumbled to pieces. Everything was so dry. I sent the order back and didn t have time to wait for something else to be made so I didn t eat. The waiter apologized for the meal and kindly removed it off the ticket.

I had a dinner reservation with my work crew. Now the reservation was at 230pm but of course I wanted to take in the scene. I mean it s Christmas holiday time, I wanted to see what was going on. I took the trolley trip and I was not aware that the ride would take an hour. Yes I was late for our reservation. I mean I did apologize to our crew. The floors were clean. The aroma that filled the restaurant was amazing. I could smell Smokey, salty, sweet yummy goodness. As always I had to use the ladies room. Restroom was ok. The seat was a little dirty, the floor was clean, the door was not labeled so of course I struggled. That s my fault ok. The napkins were those thick napkins so that was great. Now I go sit down ok. Of course I greet and hug my crew because I appreciate working with awesome folks! And I work with the best folks! Our waiter was super nice and attentive. He asked what would we like to drink, my answer was Guac and chips! Because that s what you say when you are me and very hungry! Don t judge me. The guac and chips were delicious. Believe me I would let you know if it wasn t. The guac was so good. The sweet tea was sweet. So yay for them. I ordered the pork chop and I was not expecting all the flavors. Or the size. Yeah it was a leg. All in all I give them a five. What matters the most is the loved ones you go eat with. I would go back Sorry no photos I tend to be in tune with my crew. No phones allowed! Be safe and enjoy

The atmosphere was good and the waiter was amazing. My only complaint is that they may want to try a different method for battering fosh and shrimp. I didnt enjoy my meal because the batter fell off. They did take $15 off the meal after spending close to $40. I left there hungry and had to grab something quick to eat because it was too late to dine somewhere else. Overall, the restaurant was okay. Im not sure if Ill return

Good food, large portions. Came here on a Wed night and it was fairly quiet. Service (freddy) was great. The southern board was a very large appetizer and everything on it was good. Loved the salmon-it was cooked well with a crisp outside and all the sauces on the plate were delicious, made each bite a bit different. Would come back for this. The chicken fried ribeye was so tender and the plate was huge, probably need to share. Fried oreos were fried in a funnel cake like batter, very tasty. All the drinks were great. The cinnamon smoked old fashion was very theatrical. Favorite drink was the (spicy) state fare margarita-they can make it spicier if you ask. All in all, great time here.

We were looking for somewhere to go for Happy Hour in the Woodlands, and thought we would give State Fare a try. The venue is good and the decor is tasteful and elegant. The food was good but not great. The portions were large, and in fact way more than you would normally seen at happy hour, and very well presented. The staff were really great - professional and well trained. I would like to perhaps go back sometime and try the food from the main dinner menu to see how it compares.

Quality and value have gone down since they opened. Had Brick chicken ($26) which was terrible, overcooked and no seasoning. Burger ($18)was overcooked. Fries were excellent which meant we spent $45 on fries. Couldn t even dip fries in Ketchup it was old and must have been in fridge, open and exposed. Server was nice. Patio view is great but tables are tight. Family with little kids showed up, they ran around and yelled as kids do. Ruined the experience, but not restaurant s fault. Lack of parenting. Won t be returning, will be surprised if still there in a year. Never saw a manager otherwise I would have given feedback.

I stumbled upon this restaurant on a recent trip to Texas. I have to say hands done some of the best southern food Ive had. I grew up in FL and GA and the fried green tomatoes were one of the best Ive ever eaten. They were crispy and had a lump of crab meat on top, which was a nice twist. The staff was very fast and had great suggestions. We didnt wait long for food and it came out hot and fresh. Looking forward to my next trip to Texas and this place will definitely be a stop.

I had the pleasure of visiting this place at the celebration of a private event, and from the moment I entered, I was impressed. The decoration and organization of the restaurant are worthy of praise. Every detail, from the ambient lighting to the table arrangements, had been meticulously cared for to create a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere. The atmosphere was perfect for a special evening, and I felt like I had entered a truly exclusive place. But what really stood out was the food. The appetizers were a delight for the senses. Each bite was an explosion of incredible flavors, and it was difficult to decide which one I liked best. From the most traditional options to the most innovative creations, State Fare Kitchens cooking demonstrated a high level of quality and creativity. In addition to the food, the variety of drinks available in the restaurant my favorites were blood mary and garden party, is worth mentioning. There were options for everyone, from craft cocktails to an excellent selection of wines and beers. Everyone attending could find the perfect drink to complement their meal and celebrate the occasion. Im so impressed with State Fare Kitchen that Ive decided to celebrate the launch of my next book there. The combination of its exquisite food, wide selection of drinks and charming atmosphere makes it the ideal destination for a toast among family, friends and colleagues.

No thanks! My 2nd time coming here and I didnt like my food. AGAIN! Had the chicken biscuit. It was small cut up pieces of overly fried thigh meat. The biscuit was ridiculously humongous and hard. Nothing about it was soft nor appetizing. The hashbrown tasted burnt and was really hard. Now I will say... those hush puppies and fried green tomatoes were FIRE!!! SO GOOD!!! I sent my meal back and just ate on the hush puppies. Service was nice. He let us know why he didnt eat there which was hilarious. The gumbo roux also tasted more like a thick brown gravy. It had way too much of a flour taste. Had a bite of my friends Brisket grilled cheese sandwich, which was humongous. It wasnt too bad. I wont be back, but my experience may not be your experience. Hopefully yours is better than mine.

She met with us early before the event, offered us a tasting, and made sure we knew every step of the plans along the way. On the night of the event, our serving team was phenomenal. Tamara, our event coordinator, made sure the rooms looked exactly like we wanted them, and made a few quick resets to be sure we had what we needed! Liz, our lead server, was On. It. All night long. She missed nothing. And the food everything was perfect. I highly recommend them for any meal, but I would also highly recommend them for your special events.
