Service was bad. Naan bread is frozen bought and served. It is reflected in the quality of the food. The waitress forgets utensils for serving the food. We had to ask for spoons and forks for each curry as it came out to the table. Food took way to long to be served at the table when compared to rush in restaurant. We never got lime wedges we asked with the water in the beginning but the receipt came even before we finished eating.

Absolutely the best Indian food around, and we came from Waco to eat here with a group of friends. Sam was a great server, the food was so so so delicious. Ignore the other reviews of it being greasy. Naturally, some plates will have a little grease with them. That s anywhere you go. Ours was perfect.

I ordered curry and chicken lollipops which I ordered on my lunch break. The lollipops were mostly fat and batter. They were salty but not seasoned. The curry was spicy and gritty. The naan was salty and borderline undercooked. The sauce was oily and tasted like toothpaste. The plastic container with cucumbers and onion looked seasoned it tasted like nothing. Also the portions are small and overpriced. I got 4 small wings for almost 17$. I would not recommend this place unless you like expensive food with disappointing mediocre flavor. Go somewhere else skip this place.

I only ordered from here because Taz is still closed after that tornado that hit Temple. But I will never order from here again. The food is terrible quality. As an Indian, I have never had indigestion after eating Indian food but this place definitely made me feel horrible after eating their food, even in small portions. I ordered a garlic naan and it was clearly just reheated stale naan, not fresh. The food is filled with so much oil, I had to remove spoonfuls of oil before I could eat my food. I pray to God Taz reopens so I can at least have a good Indian food option while I am staying here in Temple. I regret spending $40 on dinner here. Never again.

They were out of several dishes. The chicken korma was OK. However, the fish special was awful. The fish was WAY overcooked and WAY oversalted. The veggie biryani was inedible; it had obviously been cooking ALL DAY LONG and the textures were not OK. No words, just it was bad. We brought the issue to their attention, and they provided a coupon for our next visit. Will not go back ever. Hope it was just a bad day, but yikes that was a complete waste of money (did I mention it was $50 for two people)?

Ordered the lemon rice and Chicken Tikka Masala. Looks or taste nothing like any of the other Indian restaurants Ive eaten at all over the country. Wasnt in a creamy tomatoe based sauce. Was more like floating in grease curry. The naan was more like a pancake texture. Not that great. Of course this is only my opinion.

My moms 50th birthday was exceptional due to Roopas Kitchen service, quality food, and ambiance! This was my first time at Roopas, and they did not disappoint. It was great to host this event, as Mr. Sam (one of the owners), allowed one of my guests to decorate the table and design it with the utmost beauty. There were about 12-14 people in attendance and Roopas brought out fresh, delicious, quality food. You can also choose to modify your spice level, so for those who are sensitive to spice, one can get mild-or if you are in the mood for a challenge get the most spicy option! Very respectful of dietary restrictions as well- there are a lot of vegetarian options. So glad this is an option, as there arent many cultural food options in the Temple-Belton area. I a a huge advocate for Indian food. If you are just starting out, I suggest the chicken biryani / butter chicken, and getting either a samosa/ garlic naan! -Thanks Roopas!

Honestly, not that good for its price of 17.99 per curry. I ordered Butter Chicken - medium spicy, and it tasted very watered down and bland. The butter naan was undercooked. This place is definitely lucky that theres no competition in the area. Ive heard many of the Indian residents in Temple/Belton go all the way to Austin to eat Indian food and now I understand why. If you want quick Indian food and you dont know what its actually supposed to taste like, I guess this is the restaurant for you.

I had dinner here with several of my friends at celebration after an exam. The food here was great, and it did taste authentic. I ordered the chicken biryani with medium level spice. The rice tasted slightly fried and seasoned well. It was salty, and it was not overly spicy. I feel that getting the maximum level spiciness would be excessive so air on the side of caution. The garlic naan is a bit thicker than typical naan. It is also not greasy like other naans that I ve had. Portion sizes in general are fair for the price. I would recommend getting the entrées and try to go into the restaurant during lunchtime so that you can get a lunch special. The food here can also be made Halal if you request it. Several of my friends would benefit from meeting here as they follow Halal guidelines. if you have allergies, the menu, bolds and capitalizes, cashews or nuts, if they are present as one of the ingredients. The restaurant also marks which dishes are vegan or gluten-free if you follow those guidelines as well. Overall, I will recommend this restaurant if Indian cuisine comes up, or if something needs to be celebrated .

I lived in New Jersey which has a high population of Indian cuisine. So I know naan! I also expected lunch specials and complimentary Naan. So in this aspect I was disappointed. I love how the spice levels actually represent how spicy it is, if you like spicy food but not use to it go for mild in spice level. I dislike how a lot of restaurants say something is spicy when its barely mild! Give it a try i know you will love it!

I love coming to Roopas, it was suggested to us by our neighbor when we first moved here. My husband and I used to make it a weekly thing but with our schedules it s a bit hard to find a moment to go out and eat now. The parking lot is a bit small, they share it with adjoining businesses. They usually get busy around 5:30pm just as an FYI so if you want to sit in and eat at the restaurant go a little before or a little after that 5-6 dinner rush. I usually get the Chana Masala and I really like it. It has a robust flavor compared to the chicken dishes. My husband will bounce between butter chicken or chicken vindaloo. He usually gets his spicy or sometimes requests extra spicy. We also order garlic naan and apps will range from chicken lollipops to any of the various vegetable pakoras. I will say I ve never had a problem with staff or my food while eating over here for over 2 years consistently. If you don t have a spice palate the flavors can be really strong to you. Sometimes people will find mild too spicy when it basically tastes like a coconut sauce (to me). If it is too spicy tell them because they ll bring out a cream to even out the intensity of your meal for you. I really enjoy this restaurant. I visit Roopas more consistently than any other restaurant within the Temple/Belton area. The staff is always really nice when we come in to eat and they always remember us and will chat for a bit. We don t have a lot of various options in Temple other than various fast food restaurants, Mexican restaurants, and other eateries in downtown Temple. If you are up for it, consider giving Roopas a chance!!

We used to live 10 min from here, and now we are an hour or more out, but literally drive from Austin to temple just to eat here. We visited this restaurant last Sat for the first time, driving from Crawford TX to Temple. The food was OK but the service could be better. We dined on the premises but also ordered take out. When we got home we discovered that they were stingy on the portion of Sambar they gave us, half container. That was a disappointment. We will go to Roopas again, it is the only Indian restaurant in Temple and we are happy they operate or we will have to drive to Austin for Indian food. July 22, 2023 Since my last review the prices have risen a lot, sometimes 40%. I can understand that we are living in the post Covid world and food prices have gone up all over. Generally, the quality is still pretty good; but we were disappointed with the sambar that was absent of vegetables, it was plain gravy only. If you ask for extra sambar, they charge $3.00 for this gravy. Service has improved a lot.

I love this little gem. The food is always tasty, the service is prompt, friendly and attentive. My only complaint would be that the rice always seems to be clumpy. It still tastes good, though. If youre in the mood for solid Indian food then this is the place!

Food is delicious. I had roast pork (recommend you try it). If its your first time eating Indian cuisine, you should go for a mild, not mediun. I need a lot of spicy food and can usually handle a lot of spice. But I wish I would have gone for mild, not medium. Their food is pretty spicy. The aroma the spice you could tell its all quality seasoning. For my side, I got the green beans, and boy, were they delicious!!! Prices online are inaccurate. My meal was $19. It didnt see like a lot of food, but it was enough to fill me up. The decor is boring in the bland. Looks like a restaurant just starting off. I dont know how long its been there, but they need more furniture and nice decor

Food was delicious and fresh. Staff was super friendly. And it was a very nice kept and clean place. I m happy you can find Indian food in central Texas that is reliable and yummy. All around fine with great tasting food. Will be returning or ordering take out. This was one of the best places I have eaten at. 100% will go back.

First I wonder how this place has this much 5 stars and reviews. Something is fishy. Okay, about this place; its very calm because I am the only customer. On entering the dining area first I feel is the smell. Meet cooking smells filled the place along with a bad room freshner. Ambience is little dull. Menus r not that great. A routine menu of a small Indian restaurant. There was a kid who takes the order, poor fellow, he doesnt know how to talk to customer. Moreover we need to ask all sort of questions to understand what they have and how they serve. Food taste: some how I feel a group of kids taking a weekend drive in kitchen. I ordered planner Tikka Masala. It is watery. I also feel that they r serving MTR ready to eat stuffs. Overall this place should not be considered as a backup until they improve.

One of our Central Texas Runners Group members suggested that we go to Roppas for great Indian food, so we did and found the experience quite pricing, the service a bit cold, and the food tasted mediocre. The menu choice is clear all main course meals just meats are $18 and up and if you want sides like rice is $2 and $5 or more for nun (6 pita bread). The service on entry was nonexistent; we picked up our menus at the entrance and sat ourselves down at a combined table. About 15 minutes, later we see someone service us and we asked to get drinks first and order about 20 minutes later, not good service on a first impression. The food is catered to mild, medium, and hot curry dishes, but there did not seem to be a quality control on what was mild or medium. My wife ordered mild and I ordered the medium, they both had the same amount of heat. She had Ginger Chicken (can t taste the ginger) and I had Chicken Biryani (Heavy on the curry no other tastes). I am no stranger to Indian food in my area, I am also not an expert in it either; this is my experience at Roppas, so I cannot say I shared the same experience as what the others have posted. What I do know is that when I am eating good Indian food it should excite the senses, as I can taste the flavors in the spices as well as smell the sharpness of special seasonings like mint, basil, saffron, lemon, and cumin. The decorum is nice inside and the food is displayed well. I just wish there were better quality controls there. Vegetarian options: on the menu Parking: 20 spots

Unfortunately, Roopas is the only Indian food restaurant in our area! We came here once and never again. The food was hit and miss, mostly miss. More importantly, it is WAY OVERPRICED for the quality. Check out the prices on the on-line menu before going. Admittedly, weve had the pleasure to eat at Indian restaurants in Houston, and they were much better in every way, for a lot less money. Roopa, please come down on your prices. Also, please watch the amount of salt you use in your dishes. Not everyone wants that much salt!

It was eh. T Ive had better its way too spicy I asked for mild and it still had heat. The rice was a major disappointment it was like minute rice im use to having the long grain rice. The potatoe thing I had was EXTREMELY spicy that it was bitter I threw it away. My moms food was also so spicy she tossed it. I most likely will not come again.

Authentic Indian food at its finest! Whether youre looking for a quiet dinner for two, or a place for a delicious business lunch, Roopas has got you covered. The food was amazing! So delicious in fact, that I left the place not being able to feel my face, so be careful of the spicy scale. + = But the food was so good, youll quickly forget your cleared sinuses, tear-filled eyes and numb mouth and start craving Roopas again!

If I could I would give zero stars! The first thing you do is serve water when you are hosting. That s basic courtesy!!!! Below average watery curry and dal.. I have had much better food for this exuberant price.. not worth even $5 for the entree. And Gobi65 was just Gobi pakora..off the lot Masala chai was a little edible. Terrible hosts.. both man and the woman who were hosting us.. a simple smile goes a long way! Especially when your food is not upto the mark!!! Very disappointed .

Roopas kitchen is my favorite Indian restaurant, hands down. The butter chicken is the best Ive ever had its so creamy and flavorful, I could eat it every day and never get sick of it. The chicken 65 dish is also a must-try. Its a spicy fried chicken dish thats absolutely packed with flavor. Ive tried it at a few other Indian restaurants, but none of them hold a candle to the version served at Roopas kitchen. But the food isnt the only reason I love this place. The service is always top-notch, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Whether Im dining in or taking out, I always feel like a valued customer at Roopas kitchen. Overall, if youre a fan of Indian food, you need to check out Roopas kitchen. The butter chicken and chicken 65 alone are worth the visit, but trust me, you wont be disappointed by any of the other dishes on the menu
