This business was such a safe haven for the LGBTQIA community of Hays County. Learning that the owner decided to cease drag brunch AND coincidentally fire the bartenders that are also a part of that community was an incredible disappointment. And the reason for this decision? It s just business. Thats not business. Thats nothing less than despicable. I will not be supporting this business any further. I advise anyone with sound morals to do the same.

I ve been going to this bar for YEARS now just to hear my favorite bartenders no longer work at this establishment. Words going around that it s no longer a LGBTQ+ safe zone, I was there when there was a full on BRAWL. A grown man punched a young lesbian woman in he face. Staff was trying to break it up, there was no security and is NOT a safe place. Last thing this town needs is another straight republican bar. My girlfriend and I are distraught without a place to go to feel comfortable in our own skin and to feel safe as patrons. We will not be returning as I m sure a lot of other people.

I would give more stars if I could. Kelsi was a phenomenal bartender, host. She kept us laughing, comfortable , and rofl. I was hesitant to come because a not so gentleman arturo had put me off to this place but I thought hey Jojo and Sam might be there let s give it a shot. I was not disappointed by giving them a second chance. Drinks were on point and environment was lit and mind you for a few moments it was only us three. I would come back just to buy drinks from Kelsi.

I came in after a few months cause I thought why not I might see Jojo and Sam, I previously had a bad experience with one particular person whom I will not mention .it starts with A ends with o and rhymes with barturo lol even though Jo Jo and Sam were not here this time, KELSI WAS!!!! this beautiful, charismatic and confident vibrant woman was a breathe of fresh air great service and very knowledgeable on her drinks. I ve been to Davenport a few times now. I ve never had a problem with my dog. I have a 10 month old puppy tonight. The bartender who was drinking the whole time. I was there shots of whatever and more I asked her for a martini she refused to serve me unless my dog would stop yapping my dog yapped a couple of times when she got very excited about a dog coming into the premises she s a puppy, she quickly calm down. The bartender was very agitated and ignorant. She refused to serve martini unless my dog shut up. At no time was my dog barking yeah she got a little excited at other dogs walking in, but she quickly calm down. This is the worst dog experience I ve ever had. No one else complained about my dog only the bartender who was drinking the whole time I was there shame on her it was July, 24th between the hours of 5 and 8 PM. The fact that the bartender was actually drinking the shameful in itself and shame on her for being agitated because she was drunk.

Everything about this place is fantastic! The vibe is vibrant but laid back. The music is right in the groove. The food is phenomenal! The place is very small and seating is limited. Staff is rude! My wife and I walked in. the bar was cluttered. We asked if a seat was taken because it looked like someone was sitting there and it just wasn t cleaned up yet. His response was yes it s taken and we looked around and we said it s taken? and he said yes by her and he points to the bar back. So the short story is we couldn t sit down because an employee was taking chairs at the bar. He impatiently waited for us to decide what we wanted to drink. We asked for a menu .He grabbed a menu, gave it to us and turned his back to us and started talking to another patron. We decided what I wanted to order and he contenued the conversation for extended amount of time and would not even look at us. My wife and I walked out.. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We used to like dinner here. Burgers used to be amazing, and the mushroom toast was great. My burger tonight smelled and tasted like it was a roten veggie patty. We ordered 2 and compared them. The other, while it didnt smell or taste weird, was not of the caliber we have come to expect. Too bad. Oh, and the throwing of glass bottles to make as much noise as possible. What is that about?! Just stop! This used to be one of San Marcos more original, better places, and now it feels like all the others.

Literally one of the coolest bars I ve ever been to. Fair warning to first timers, these guys pour doubles as the stands so order accordingly!! There s an extensive list of delicious cocktails and martinis but I almost solely get the old fashions because they are the best I ve ever had. An incredible roster of bartenders, led by Naomi, who all know what they re doing and how to go the extra mile for the customer experience. I recommend this place to anyone coming to San Marcos!

Davenport knows what they are doing! They have great bartenders who know how to make delicious (and very adult- aka strong) drinks! If you want a fun and lively spot that does a lot for the San Marcos community then look no further! They also make great food with smokin happy hour deals! Brunch had just ended but the Bartender was so kind and went to check with the chefs if they would still accommodate us. Not required by them by any means but it was an added bonus. Food itself was delicious and drinks were well crafted. My partner got the steak and eggs and the steak was cooked perfectly. Great music, friendly service, fun drink menu. And amazingly solid food offerings. The shrimp ponchos are the best thing Ive had here. Patatas bravas are fair, but ask for extra bravas sauce to turn up the dish. The chicken and chorizo paella was a solid dish. The chicken was a tad under seasoned to carry the dish, but as an ingredient in the whole, it totally worked by not stealing the spotlight. Highly recommended place to hang out, day or night.

The Davenport is fabulous, their drink menu is extensive, and the experience is immeasurable, but Ill try. Ive been here several times and each has come with memories that Ill keep forever. Some memories of bad nights, others of great ones, but either way they make great stories! It can be crowded, but somehow you never have to stand at the bar for long. It successfully prices out most college students (which I think is a good thing in a college town) by presenting itself as a high class cocktail bar, because it is. They fill their glasses to the brim with every flavor of liquid courage imaginable and they have every flavor. Some drawbacks are the limited parking, limited indoor seating, and the outdoor seating is plagued by passing trains and loud cars. I understand that the last one is completely unavoidable, but it is the cost of having any business on Guadalupe. I highly encourage everyone to experience the Davenport for themselves because reading reviews can only take you so far. I hope that I see you there! Cheers!

Went there a few afternoons ago and the first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. Very modern, laid back, and accepting, which I am all about. But the reason for the lowered rating is the pricing. Its outrageously pricy and I almost left for the Golden Chick across the street. The drinks were generally terrible with 1 out of 6 being good. While I enjoyed my time there, it was 100% due to the company and nothing The Davenport had to offer.

Took a vacation on search of a specific book for my games that I run. Ran into this small place labeled as a gastropub. Walked in and it is definitely a retro feel with the bar and couches inside. The bartender, I believe her name was Adaline, was the best bartender have had in a long time. She offered ideas on what was the best and even a keto grapefruit vodka that they carry which was perfect. Places like this really come down to the people that they hire. The bartender greeted everyone that came in with a smile and even knew to get the bike riders some waters as they were putting their bikes up on the deck before they even stepped foot into the place. I had a handful of drinks and the tostada appetizers and chicken chorizo paella. The cook was from Louisiana and definitely knew what he was doing! The food was absolutely amazing and they even have sharable sizes perfect for a mid day date. All in all, I highly recommend this place for anyone that wants good afternoon vibes while touring the town.

I visited for lunch and I ordered the paella. It was truly delicious, the rice carmelized on the bottom and was cooked to the exact consistency. What a treat to order paella in San Marcos cooked to perfection. Im ready to return and try the brunch menu. So glad to see this restaurant here, its aesthetically stylish and someone really cares about the food and making people feel welcome. The atmosphere is friendly and has a warm community vibe. There are NO screens, so people can really enjoy and focus on one another or their own thoughts and just relax...Yay!

VERY COVID FRIENDLY. The patio is huge! Bartenders wear masks! It s a great covid conscious place to be. Happy to have a place to go out in the world and feel safe during this pandemic. Also, the bartenders know how to make SOLID cocktails. I had brunch here and it was rulll good, so while I have less experience with the food, every thing I ve put in my mouth has been tasty. Worst service I ve received in San Marcos. Came here with a friend and we were the only ones in there for a good 15 minutes until three more guests came after us. As we were waiting 30+ minutes to have our order taken, we see that the others guests were already receiving their food while they still hadn t come to take our order. We eventually just got up and left. Who waits 30+ minutes to get an order taken, I watched the waitress get up so many times and talk to people, but never came back to take our order. Highly disappointed with the service, it was our first time here and we were really looking forward to it. Won t be back again!

This place has a cool vibe, and their staff is super friendly and courteous. The drinks are pretty good, and the pricing is standard for a slightly nicer place than the usual bar scene in San Marcos. I docked stars because we came for brunch and my partner and I got the veggie hash and the western hash which sounded delicious in the description, but unfortunately the meal was highly underwhelming and we left pretty unsatisfied. If youre looking to eat basically potatoes with sauce then order the hash(es), but if youre looking for the actual description of the meal then dont order those items. I was expecting for there to be so many veggies or at least the veggies in the description but all I got was some canned green beans and corn and one sad little artichoke heart and none of the other veggies in the description nor the cotija cheese. And the western hash wasnt any better.

I relish a good cocktail and this place most certainly didnt disappoint! Quality tipples, created with obvious care and attention. Worth the wait in line, which hopefully is just a CoVid thing. The ethanol stories had me in hysterics, so I had to go and see for myself. I guess some folks arent used to proper measures or dont know their feet from their face. Certainly they dont know a good cocktail from pre-mixed, sugary slop concoctions. If you cant handle the spice in your food, perhaps dont say the chef is trying to poison you.
