Empty dining room. Took 2 hours to get simple brunch food for a few people. All food came out cold, over cooked under seasoned. Chili s has better food. Absolutely terrible. Burnt coffee. Rude staff. Cold watery soup. Cold rubbery omlette. Hard boiled poached egg.

One of my WORST restaurant experiences. Not much I can say that isnt negative. A 30ish wedding party was booked and us regular customers were put on the back burner. 3 1/2 hours later we paid the check. From the French onion soup to the schnitzel we did not like the flavor profiles of our meals. We will NEVER return and recommend find out if they are servicing a wedding party the time you are going.

Great service, and beautiful ambiance. We had the burger, and it was amazing. Im not a fry person, but the truffle fries were so good. The schnitzel was ok. It lacked seasoning. The sauce and the mushrooms were a good touch, but thats in the middle of the dish. Without the sauce, the entree has no flavor.

The service was top notch ! Our server was so knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. The cocktails definitely stole the show, they were exceptional. The food was nice, but needed a little work. In my opinion (and just an opinion, I just eat food I m not a culinary master) every dish and dessert we received was bland or not very memorable. I love eating a nice meal, but respectfully, I feel the level this restaurant is playing at didn t hit the flavor spot I was hoping. Overall it was a great environment, great service, and I would return for cocktails !

So my party and I are from New York. And Ill say it felt like something carved out of soho. The drink menu is loaded with local beers on tap and in bottle 6 of shared the tomahawk but to be honest its good for 4-5 the potatoes that it comes with well seasoned the waiter was very helpful in recommending things on the menu. For sides we had the asparagus, bacon Mac and cheese ant the Brussel sprouts. Parking: Theres a free lot on the next block.

The family went for a double birthday party of nine and service was terrible because server knew he was getting gratuity because of large party anyways and just didnt try. There was a hair in my food from the manager twirling her hair at the food pick up and when I brought it to their attention they acted like I was the one in the wrong and still put the plate on our ticket. We were there for almost 2 hrs and were never brought a refill on drinks. We will NEVER eat here again and I dont suggest you go. The bread, asperagus, and atmosphere was good other than that no thanks.

This was one of my Southtown favorites but recently one of the worst food experiences in memory. Started with Bibb or butter lettuce salad that was old iceberg lettuce, when I confronted them, they said it was Bibb. I had to show them a picture. I ordered a fish that was so dry and hard it was inedible. They were apologetic and said they had lost their chef which was pretty obvious. I would not recommend at all for the prices one pays there until they get their kitchen back in order.

When we finally started getting food, it came out by entree, and many said that it wasnt hot. I had the French toast, and it was very good and hot when I received it. We only had a choice of 4 entrees, so I didnt understand what took so long.

Spent the evening with the parents for Fathers Day and I selected a new restaurant and not the norm. I selected Mavericks Texas Brasserie off S. St. Marys right off The King Williams District. Mom and Dad approved of the selection. Valet Parked and was blown away with the old building and ambiance when we first walked in the doors into the phenomenal bar area. They have with individual dining rooms which were really cool. A nice piece of literature of the old building and lay-out when you check-in for your reservation. Mom and I started with our wine selection . . . Extensive wine list, but went with the waiters recommendation for both her red and my white. They have numerous customed cocktails too! I can go on and on, but to cut the post a bit shorter . . . We ordered 2 dinner salads, Dad had the duck, Hubs and Mom had the 12oz Ribeye (grass fed from Fredricksburg and you cut with a fork served with a green peppercorn sauce) and I had the trout with a lemon and caper sauce. Sides were a garlic/parm gnocchi and broiled Brussels with basalmic glaze. Deserts were and Apple Tart and Creme Brulee. Service was spot on! Kudoos to Johnathon our waiter. When in SA, check it out. You will not be dissapointed. Ironic story is the owner happens to be my parents eye doc and they have been wanting to try it out and I chose it because review and the Duck . . .my Dad loves Duck. So! Next time you are in San Antonio, check Mavericks and ask for Jonathan! Parking: Valet!

I would give more stars but we were so hot and uncomfortable the whole time,,,sitting down in the main dining area....not a consistent A.C. unit AT ALL............ The food was tasty and everything is priced ala carte so if youre looking for a budget meal this is not the place but if you dont care and can stand the humidity its a little adventure.......will definitely go back again in the cooler months but not until then...... Parking is quite QUITE the challenge if you dont want to pay the $15 valet fee you still have to pay to park in this area period......The bathrooms inside are unisex but they are clean and very cool inside & lots of a.c. in THEM...... Our waiter whose name i forgot Im so sorry, a beefy fun Latin guy who was so delightful and patient with all our crazy questions....many more stars for him for sure if I could add them....but because of the heat it was hard to relax and just enjoy the meal.....the salmon very tender with crispy skin was yummy and the schnitzel with sauce and capers was also crispy and flavorful....took up the whole plate had to take half home and also shared some ...the gnocchi was crispy and good.....the grilled charred asparagus was a tad chewy on several of the ends... those should have been snipped of before cooking......the duck which was served over white beans in a sauce that tasted like a tangy light BBQ sauce definitely a Texas take on duck confit...... There are what looks to be several banquet rooms in the back as well........ The acoustics are not so good where we were, we were yelling at each other throughout most the meal as the voices went up and down with conversations.....I dont suggest if youre hearing challenged as I am.

Updated review: continues to be an amazing experience. Great selection of wine and drinks. Tonight we had the cheddar biscuits (these were just okay), steak tartar - very generous portion with horseradish aioli and gherkins, and Calamari and octopus - quite fresh and delicious. The ribeye had an amazing flavor, but the star if the show was the schnitzel!!! Soo good and can be split between 3-4 people!! (Review from 6 years ago) What an experience!!! A will come here once in awhile for special occasions. Our waiter was phenomenal and we had a great time. If you like seafood, you definitely need to check it out. Our favorite plates were the corn bread (which you do have to pay for), mushrooms, and the mixed grill. I enjoyed the fries but they werent as crispy I thought they would be. The flounder/steak was good but not the highlight of the meal. Parking is annoying so make sure to walk.. or expect $7 valet charge. El Mirador apparently owns all the parking.

We were attending an alumni event in San Antonio and were offered a choice of places to dine with a small group. We couldnt have picked a better place! Friends had told me this was a great place ahead of our trip and they were right. We arrived early enough for happy hour at the bar while we waited for our group to arrive. The bartender was kind enough to extend happy hour a few more minutes when one of our group arrived to wait with us. The menu features beef, pork, and fish. I enjoyed the plat du jour which was pork confit, served with salad and a dessert after. Full bar with a great selection of whiskey and beer and wine. Service was excellent.

Best part of experience by far was our server, Bryan. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by 2 different females with less than friendly/cheerful attitudes. The female that actually seated us presented herself with an attitude that she really didnt want to be there. After sitting down I told my wife if our server had a similar attitude, wed just leave. Fortunately, our server was Bryan, and he was a great guy. Super personable and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we enjoyed our experience at Mavericks. Regarding the food, the brussel sprouts and the cheese puffs were amazing, the pork schnitzel and roasted chicken were good to great, the frech onion soup was good, the salmon with saphron was a miss. For desert, the creme brulee was good and whereas my wife loved the lemon cheesecake, she lost her appetite after finding a 2 curly black hair right in the center. Bryan again was genuinely embarrassed by this and apologized profusely as he took it away. The manager also came out and apologized. Overall experience was good thanks to Bryan and we understand mistakes happen so werent angry regarding the hair. When the check arrived I paid without reviewing the check just assuming the we wouldnt be charged for our hairy desert. I was wrong. Needless to say, whereas most of the food was quite delicious and Bryan was awesome, hard to say if well be back given the overall attitudes of management and the greeters.

After 15 min I walked to the other side of the restaurant to ask a waiter who had helped me the day before if he would get out table. Ordered right away. They did comp us calameri. Problem is next to the garden room after they dropped off the food we had flies and gnats. I killed 3 gnats and showed the waiter. Aftet that we just asked for our bill for the 2 drinks and bread basket. $45. Needless to say will never be back.

Took my wife to celebrate Valentines on the weekend to what I thought would be a special dinner. Completely Disappointed!! Service was awful waiter only recommended a 135 dollar tomahawk steak. No wine pairing, no sides to recommend with meal Nothing. Ordered the calimari and octopus was decent then ordered the salmon and pork chop. Entrees took about 30 min after calamari had to call waiter over to order more cocktails because he never asked. Salmon was cold like it had been sitting, when entrees were served had to send back. You would think after a long wait our food would at very least be hot NOPE! Wife and I frequent high end restaurants in the San Antonio area and this was by far the worst one as well as overpriced. Our first interaction was with one of your valet waitstaff. We were on a double date and my friends husband asked to see a menu, the valet attendant was so dismissive and waived his hands stating he had to could inside to view the menu. Regardless of that first interaction we looked at the menu and made an online reservation. We were sat in the middle type room and our waitress came to greet us, she seemed nice enough I told her it was our first time here. My friends husband asked what kind of entry s she recommended. He literally said entry s instead of entrees. The waitress looked at him and said entry s? What do you mean? My friends husband was being funny when he said entry s and pardon my French. She still looked at him like he had five heads. We all at the table said he means entrees. She then goes on to explain entrees. We said we were going to drink a bit and then order apps and then dinner. After we ordered drinks and an app she came around and asked if she could pick up our menus. Now why would she ask that? If she knew we were going to order dinner after drinks and appetizers? All the while we made it through apps and dinner. Only for her to finish with the night we said split the checks evenly down the middle. She brings us our checks and says now don t steal my pens you have to understand the entire night she was serving us did we ever connect in a humorous or friendly way. Im uncertain as to why she felt the need to tell us this. Was it because we were the only Latinos in the room? Was it because she was assuming we would steal the actual pens? Either way her assumptions were disgusting, disrespectful and certainly disheartening. Shame on you for allowing a waitress to treat your customers like this.

She was very pretentious, spoke to us like we were incoherent, and all around made the experience a 5 when I could have been a 10 easily because of the food! Second visit (brunch): server was excellent! Night and day difference. Different menu for brunch, still delicious. My sister in law had the burger before and I tried it this time - the BEST BURGER I ve had! Simple and tasty. We also tried the breakfast schnitzel and loved it all, special notice to the sauce! The food was not that good to be honest. My wife had the pork chip. It had so much salt she had to wipe it off to eat it. I had the steak it was cooked perfectly. But so much peppercorns. It was not tasty. Our service was outstanding. But for the price of the food. It was not worth it.

Just had lunch here for the first time in awhile and it was very good. I didn t take lots of pictures but the house salad was so good I cleaned the bowl. The trout almondine on the prix fix lunch menu was very good. Service was excellent. Parking can be tough but behind the restaurant they have spaces and an empty lot where you can easily park if the street is packed

The pork was good, except the chicken was still raw in some parts. The server was very apologetic but the manager seemed indifferent. We then switched out the chicken for the salmon instead. Appetizer came after the food, the salad was slimy. The only good thing about here was our server. Would not come again.

The evening began with a Clue-inspired atmosphere in their newly remodeled Garden Room. It felt like we were in the midst of a mystery - Colonel Mustard in the conservatory vibes! We started with escargot accompanied by delightful puff pastries and a French onion soup that set a new standard. The bread, seasoned with Old Bay, was a delicious touch. And let s not forget the Autumn in Avignon, a Gin-based drink with pear and yellow chartreuse that was simply divine. The culinary journey continued with the Duck Leg Cassoulet, a dish that redefined what duck should taste like - flavorful and incredibly tender. My bride opted for the Pork Confit Plats du Jour, and it was a juicy delight. Our dinner guests raved about the smoked chicken and the quail and sausage dish. Each bite was a testament to the chef s skill. Dessert brought a taste of fall with a dish reminiscent of Thanksgiving pumpkin pie and a heavenly lemon meringue. In summary, Maverick Texas Brasserie seamlessly blends French and Texas-inspired dishes in a way that s nothing short of exceptional. If you re a food enthusiast, this place is a must-visit. Au revoir! #FoodieAdventure #MaverickTexasBrasserie

We made a reservation for last night to celebrate my mothers birthday, we had a group of 4 and they quickly accommodated when we requested a different table (we love the half circle booths) Once we had placed our order, we eagerly awaited our tomahawk steak, the main attraction as far as we were concerned. The presentation and flavor of the tomahawk was incredible, and the potatoes were like nothing I ve had before. For dessert, the crème brûlée was like light and sweet, the perfect end to the evening.

It was the highlight of our San Antonio weekend getaway. The atmosphere is sophisticated and relaxed. The service was great, prompt, polite and professional. The food was amazing. Started with the Lyonaise salad, which was delightful and perfectly executed. The pork schnitzel was top notch, crispy on the outside and juicy and tender. Also tried the Brussels sprouts, and they were excellent. Perfect balance of char and seasoning. We also had the Coq au Vin, and that was so hearty, aromatic, and savory. It was perfect. Cant wait to visit again.

Very high end restaurant with classic French cuisine. The service was excellent but the food was not quite as good as I was expecting. The French onion soup was just okay, which was disappointing. Also, our $44 pork chop was grossly overcooked but they fixed it. The fix just took a bit longer than Id like. They knocked off $8 for the trouble with the pork chop which is a big meh for me. The beer and wine selection is well-rounded and the cocktail options are high quality. They have a full bar but dont have the liquor selection of some larger restaurants. The service was excellent and the level of knowledge of the server staff was exemplary. My water glass never went empty and everyone was very friendly and responsive.

Painfully slow service. 1.5 hours before we had an entree served. We had an 11am reservation for 4 and they seated us at a table for two. We reminded them of the need for 4 seats so they moved us to a table with 4 seats, but only 2 place settings. 30 mins later they brought the other two place settings after a gentle reminder. We also had to remind them of the missing side salad, missing stout, and missing IPA. All were eventually brought to the table. The schnitzel is listed on menu as a brown butter, caper, lemon sauce. It is not brown butter. It is just a buerre blanc which is NOT brown butter. The dish was overall very bland since the meat, breading and sauce were not appropriately seasoned. A little salt would go a long way. A properly made sauce would do wonders. The steak frite is tough. It was appropriately cooked to Med-rarer. Frites were cold. French toast was fine. Eggs bennies have a watery thin hollandaise. Maybe they added water to stretch it out instead of making enough in the first place to make it through service. Overall brunch for 4 adults was $250. We last ate here 4 years ago and it may be 10 more years before we return. There are much better dining experiences in SA worthy of frequent repeat visits. Maverick just isnt that place . Parking: $15 valet is about what you will spend in the area lots. So may as well do valet.

Appetizers: We ordered the escargot and steak tartare. Absolutely delicious and rich with flavor! Every bite was excellent, and the presentation was top notch! Superb start! Main course: We ordered the steak and fries and the chicken schnitzel. Generous portion on the schnitzel and fries. The steak was well seasoned, but we ordered medium rare and were served a well done steak. Still, it was juicy and tasty! Dessert: We ordered the lemon tart and chocolate creme, along with a couple espressos. The desserts were very lovely and beautifully presented! The espresso however tasted like Folgers coffee. Service: Excellent, wonderful, and very good vibes all around! Our waitress was a delight! A nice gentleman, who was not our waiter, delivered our main courses and complimented my hair - which of course made me feel great! Really, any one we interacted with was kind and charming. Thanks for the hospitality! Atmosphere: Great decoration and tasteful use of bold blues! There was a mix of classy and rustic everywhere, great for dates, parties, celebrations of all sorts. I only took one photo that evening, which doesn t best represent how beautiful everything really looked. You ll just have to see it for yourself ;)

Wine was great! Food was good although I didn t see a lot of French in what we ordered. The Tartar was chunkier than my personal liking but the meat was tender and it was tasty. Had dinner on a Friday night. Ordered several things (octopus and calamari, escargot, steak frites, brussel sprouts) and requested to have it delivered throughout the night. The steak arrived before the escargot, but waiter was apologetic and offered a dessert on the house. I recommend the escargot. It was fabulous. The steak was ok fries made up for it. I would come back. They have great service and tasty options Came back for culinaria. Recommend the sangria margarita and beef tartare. Already mentioned the escargot and steak frites. Got the mussels and it was too rich for my liking. My preference is garlic butter wine sauce, not what they had.

This is a little away from the Riverwalk, but boy we re we happy with Maverick. It was Sunday morning and we were looking for brunch. It wasn t open yet and we were waiting, but the kids were hungry, so we walked through historic King William Street. We stopped at Guenther house but they told us 90 minutes. Shame. So we started to walk back to head to Box Street All Day (which we had the next day and was absolutely scrumptious), but Maverick was in our way, so we went. Thank the stars that we did. Not crowded, but the staff, food, drink, and ambiance were outstanding! So glad we ended up here. They did not have the doughnut or the schnitzel.. Bummer, but I did have the sandwich with the au jus. So very delicious! Definitely recommend! My family s dishes were also top notch (salmon gravlax, eggs Benedict, and steak frites). This is a must especially for brunch. Wish I had taken pix, but I wrote all of this because it was THAT GOOD.

Good service, friendly. Beautiful restaurant. Ordered the Blackberry Paradis cocktail, which was spicy. At first, the spiciness packs a punch but then its in the background. Wish I could have tasted the blackberry more but its a good drink. For the main, ordered the Pan Seared Trout Almondine. Great flavor, fish was cooked to perfection and the green beans still had a crunch to them. Would order it again and would come back to Maverick to try other menu items.

Their brunch is definitely better than their dinner. Been here a few times for their brunch which is always good. First time having dinner here and all I can say is that it was really underwhelming. I ended up with the schnitzel after they told me they ran out of the burger (which I had been looking forward to). My wife had the Trout. On both dishes the seasoning was way off. My schnitzel had a lemon brown butter sauce that was extremely lemony. To the point that it made my stomach hurt and that was all I could really taste. My wifes trout was very plain and the green beans they served with it were undercooked. All in all charging $24 for what was probably the worst schnitzel Ive ever had felt wrong and with no sides for a cheap cut of meat felt like a scam. Even the bread they served was stale and not warm. Its a nice place but the dinner wasnt worth it for us.

A truly fantastic dinner. My husband and I ordered several dishes to share. We started with the endive salad, beef tartare and goat cheese gnocchi. The salad was fresh and bright. The tartare was crazy flavorful. I wanted to lick the bowl that the gnocchi was served in. Next was the cheese bread which was similar to pao de quejo. I forced myself to only eat one because we had more food coming but my god they are addictive. Finally we had the schnitzel and the potato pave. The schnitzel was so huge it hung over the sides of the plate. Delicate, perfectly tender with a nice crunch. This is the dish that brought us back for this second visit. The potato pave was good but outshined by everything else. Service is great, ask for Johnny. Drinks were yummy too. We will be back.
