Everything about this place is great except the manager. A group of us were planning to go here for dinner, and two girls arrived early and sat at the bar waiting for us. When we arrived, the girls got up and went to tell the hostess to inform her thar our group arrived / the manager then proceeded to ask my friend directly - did you pay your bar tab? but in an accusatory manner. Hey bud, how about do your job and work in the background like she s not about to walk out on her tab..chill.. I would say it s a one off, but he awkwardly walked in front of her as we were escorted to our table and ive heard this manager is particularly rude to female employees . Make your own assessments , I ve made mine

The food is fantastic. A waitress spilt a sticky drink down my back. She was very apologetic. To the waitress it s ok this stuff happens. When my husband asked a manager for a dry shirt for me the manager was like ummmm ummmm I mean I guess. My husband told him her shirt is all wet and sticky. Not one of the managers came over to check out the situation or see if I was ok. Manager service was terrible.

When in San Angelo, please dine at this hidden gem. You will not be disappointed! Our server, McKenzie, was sharp, witty, and cute as a button with an amazing smile. She took care of us and was brutally honest with recommendations. I had the This Aint Your Grandmothers Meatloaf, and it was delicious along with the mashed potatoes and carrots. I purposely did not eat it all so I could take it home for another meal. It was so good. My coworkers all had salads...lame! And for dessert, try the Molten Lava Cake! Scrumptious! So run, dont walk... to the Angry Cactus! Thanks, McKenzie!

This is a quaint little place in downtown San Angelo. They have put a twist on each entree to make them their very own. My wife and I shared the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. The chicken fry was very good and the gravy was excellent. I didnt particularly like the green beans because they were wirey and stringy. Our waitress was Callie. Our group was large (around 15) and she worked us like a champ. I didnt see anyone having to send anything back and our drink glasses were never empty. The only help she had was when it was time to bring the food out. There were probably at least 10 checks and she got every one correct. VERY impressive!

Which was perfect!! I had the bacon wrapped pork loins with seasoned vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes and from appearance to taste was a 10!! Our waiter was the best ... She came and checked on us!! The manager was nice about the stale shells I would definitely recommend you try this place

I went there while I was waiting for my tire to get fixed next door. I initially sat at the bar and opened a tab. Bartender said I could smoke on the patio. Which has been the case every other time I was there. The manager or what ever guy must have been watching very closely. I waited about 5 minutes before I pulled a smoke out. He immediately popped halfway out of the door- before I even got it lit, and started yelling at me. There were no signs. No notices. I had smoked out there every time I had been there. I asked the bartender why she had said I could smoke on patio. She said she thought I could said she had never heard about that before. That was the last dollar I ll ever spend in there. I m a barber. I intend on telling everyone about my great experience . At least post a notice instead of jumping on someone about something they know nothing thing about.

We went into The Angry Cactus today for Saturday Brunch not realizing that brunch is only served on Sunday. However, we had a great experience!! The atmosphere here was great!! We were kindly greeted at the door & promptly seated. We ordered Bloody Marys & those were filled with a lot of fun garnishes. Being served complimentary bread & olive oil was a nice touch!! We had the Fork & Knife Burrito & West Texas Tacos for lunch. Both dishes were delicious. There were many children dining with their families - so I wouldnt hesitate to bring children. Today was my wife and I 15th wedding anniversary and we decided to go to Angry Cactus. It was a perfect day to go because its prime rib on Wednesday after 5. We got there a little after 5 to take advantage of the prime rib before it sold out but when we were ready to order they let us know the prime rib wasnt done because the oven wasnt turned on 2 hours ago. Thing happen so we ordered something else. After we ordered I wanted a drink but couldnt find our server, so I went to the bar to get a drink. The bartender took my order and told me she would tell my server. We got our food but my wifes order wrong, so we had it sent back. By the time we got my wifes order back I realized I still hadnt gotten my drink, tried to get the servers attention but got ignored by her and the bartender. So we just ate our food. We only saw our server again we she came with the bill. We were so upset with the whole situation that I wanted to talk to the manager but realized he was having to good a time talk to the servers to care about us. So we left, thanks for the memorable 15th wedding anniversary. We will never go back.

Pleasant for the eye, unfortunately not so much on the tastebuds. We order the hibiscus drink and the prickly pear marg. Both drinks seem to try hard to make something nice but end up unbalanced. The quail was tasty but I d prefer they left them on the bone. The biggest let down was the antipope. It was a very tough meat that even cooked med rare was like chewing leather. There was little taste and the sides did not pair well at all. Maybe I ll try this place again one day, but not in the near future.

Was a spur of the moment dinner, and was not disappointed. We were seated quickly, and drinks were quick. Our appetizer (chips &queso) came out quite quickly. The chips were nicely seasoned, the queso was good while hot but became quite mealy in texture as it cooled- probably using pre-shreded cheeses with cellulose anti-caking agents. The entrees came out well plated, my meatloaf in particular was extremely nice. I wish I had taken a picture. It tasted as good as it looked. A spicy bbq sauce over a very generous portion of well made meat loaf. The potatoes were smooth, well seasoned and very obviously made from scratch. The grilled veggies were the perfect extra. Crisp, fresh, and cooked just enough to be right. Ive never ordered meat loaf in a restaurant, never thought I would. As a child of the 80s, meatloaf isnt the highlight - its the plan b. Angry cactus changed my mind.

My husband and I stopped by for lunch/brunch on Sunday. I ordered the French toast with banana pecan rum syrup. It was outstanding! I ordered it with the syrup on the side. I can rarely eat an entire entree, and the four slices prove to be too much for me to eat in one sitting. Our server gave me a to-go box and a small cup with lid. I had eaten all of the bananas while at the restaurant, so when I ate my leftovers (which I rarely do), I sliced another banana to add to the syrup. Even several days later, it was still very tasty. I would definitely order it again.

My burger was good, my wifes chicken fried chicken was awesome. The only problem I had was being charged like $1.50 for a tiny side of mushrooms.

The food is always fresh and plated beautifully. The drinks are some of the best in town. The atmosphere will make you feel like youre on vacation and trying the local hot spot. The service is well trained and mostly friendly (even to the fat and unattractive wife). Dont miss this place! Parking: Expect a potential walk since this is downtown in a high traffic area. Kid-friendliness: Personally, this is just not a place for children and family dinners. Its upscale, always crowded, and more of a date night niche. Wheelchair accessibility: Mmmmm...accessible but not friendly.

This place is fabulous!!! Came in at peak busy time and only had a 20 minute wait, plus our waitress Aubrey was amazing! She was kind and really took care of her tables, despite how busy it was. The food was absolutely incredible, my husband and I both loved our plates. We will not hesitate to eat here again the next time were in the area

First off, our waitress Rian was a true gem!! She made recommendations for us, she was patient, and her Texan charm has no limits. Now, to the food, our party as a group have travelled to well over 50 countries. The food here will forever be remembered by all of us. The antelope, the lamb, and the catfish must be part of your order!! DELICIOUS! and extremely well presented, a feast for the eyes, body and soul!

The food and service are great. Its a combination of rustic and fine dining all in one. Its definitely a different type of atmosphere, which I am always looking for. They also have a great drink menu along with a nice variety of specialty draft beers. A definite must.

My first visit here at the Angry Cactus. Everything was great . Our waitress was friendly, I had the West TX tacos, blackened catfish. They were delicious with blue corn tortillas. The atmosphere was great! I will definitely be going back to this place. Two thumbs up kinda place .

They really don t give you enough stars for this place. The meatloaf is the bomb. I caught myself just before I picked the plate up to lick it clean. It s not that sort of place . But it s not overly formal or anything uncomfortable like that either. I regret that it is six hours away from home as I would like to work my way through the entire menu. People of the Cactus! I will return.

I used to live in San Angelo and this was my favorite restaurant! I went back today and I was shocked at how bad the food was. I got the lunch coconut chicken, my MIL got chicken tacos, and my 12 year old daughter got the kids chicken strips. None of us could eat more than a couple bites. All the fried food tasted like fish for some reason and all of the chicken was rubbery and tasted off. The chips and queso was really good though. The waitress was super nice and attentive. I was so excited to eat there and was very disappointed. Maybe it was an off day.

Great experience, delicious food, and attentive service! For a Saturday evening my wife and I only waited 5 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was patient and knowledgeable of the menu. My wife ordered the antelope (our first time trying it) and we throughly enjoyed it! Personally preferred it over my medium rare filet mignon. The portions were worthy. The old fashion smoked cocktail is beautifully presented! I will say, I do not recommend the pork skin (chicharrónes) appetizer. That was the only con on our visit.

So far our experience here has been Amazing!!! You definitely pay for what you get and you will not be disappointed. We ordered the crazy cheese fries! Yum!! Definitely delicious, chips and salsa, the dips here are off the chain. I had the Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin. Husband had the Smoked Atlantic Salmon. Both no complains on the consistency or texture. Awesome!! The only down fall was the seating area. We were placed at the shortest table, heavy traffic from the waitress, customers, coming and going. But overall great experience! Amazing food! And our waitress was amazing! Had a great sense of professionalism! Thank you Rian!

Wonderful, attentive service, interesting decor and fantastic food. We sat at the bar for lunch and were promptly greeted Our server was kind and engaging. All of the staff members I engaged were friendly and took the time to answer questions. Our food was delicious. Two of us had the angry burger and one person ordered the catch of the day, which was mahi. Food was freshly prepared and flavorful. I especially liked the mashed sweet potatoes and the sauce the beautifully decorated the mahi. Overall, a terrific experience.

First time in San Angelo and decided to eat here, so this is our first time here too. The restaurant atmosphere was really nice and was greeted and sat immediately by the host. Our waitress was Julie H and she was very nice and friendly. She took our drinks and food order but she was happy all-around. The food was really delicious! The ribeye was cooked perfectly and my wifes hamburger was on point too! I had an old-fashion drink with smoke and that was really good too! We also got the chocolate lava dessert and that was perfect too! No complaints at all with the food and service! Julie made our dinner experience really great and would definitely go again the next time we go to San Angelo! Thank you!

The entrance with the giant green Angry Cactus is definitely a draw to folks wandering downtown! We couldnt resist!! There were several seats at the bar available so we grabbed a couple as thats our favorite place to sit! The service wasnt what were used to when sitting at the bar, the bartender was pretty aloof and more interested in her co-workers. You win some you lose some! The cocktails were made well and the restaurant atmosphere seemed fun and casual, wed definitely return, just not sit at the bar! The food was a bit hit or miss. The Skillet Nachos were excellent flavor wise with plenty of cheese and toppings, its just that some of the chips were so stale and hard you couldnt bite into them! The Bacon Wrapped Shrimp were anything but jumbo, however they were good and I ate every last bite! Now, the Cajun Chicken Pasta, thats where its at! That dish is absolutely delicious, spicey, cheesy and addicting!! Thank goodness its such a huge portion too because we had plenty left over for another meal! Definitely a good hang out spot with potentially amazing food so I do recommend and will return if in the area!

Sat at the bar by myself on a Wednesday evening, the bartender took several minutes to acknowledge me (it wasn t busy at all, including myself there were four people seated at the bar She was busy chatting with a couple of folks at the other end). When I finally got her attention, she let me sample some of the local taps, and she was friendly and helpful enough (although she did not know what the seasonal tap was for one of the local San Angelo breweries). I made my selection, but it took her a while to come back to get my food order. I ordered the West Texas tacos, they were wonderful. It was a great meal for not much money. I ordered a second beer, and that one arrived quickly. I then asked to sample the house-made pepper vodka; I just wanted a taste to decide if I wanted a cocktail with it, but she ended up serving me a 2oz shot and charged me $5. Overall, it was a decent experience. The food is really good; I ve been here before, and was very pleased with that meal as well. I get the impression that they really take care of their locals here, too. There is a little gift shop area off to the side where you can buy their Bloody Mary mix, some of their sauces, etc. I also like a place that makes their own vodka and bitters.

Not to bad. Been here quite a few times. Chicken fried chicken is great. Prime rib is good. Would not order Ribeye again, they over cooked the first one (medium rare) then took forever to get the next one. The waitress kept apologizing about it. Not her fault. It was pretty much medium and the sauce was very much like teriyaki sauce and didnt care for it. The (jumbo) shrimp came when I was almost done with my steak. Texas Roadhouse steak and shrimp is way better than this.

Finally ate at this joint, and as you wouldve guessed the supposed owner Tim condom was yet again MIA and judging by the wonky appetizers and poor portion size the rent on this place must be burning a hole in that absentee mis-administrators misappropriated fanny pack Had the flavorless salmon on sweet potato and veggie shavings and was hungrier when I left then when I entered stick to hamburgers and food trucks tim

This evening was my second time eating here and I have to honestly say that this is my new favorite place! The service, food, and atmosphere are definitely top notch and they really thought of everything right down to the awesome server who offered to get me contact lens solution when I was having a slight problem with my contacts! I highly recommend Angry Cactus! Kid-friendliness: They were very patient with my daughter, who has high functioning autism. That s a big deal for her. Being able to interact socially is a huge win!
