Relax at KOA's 10-acre campground covered with native mesquite trees. This historic spot between the Hill Country and the rolling plains started as a military outpost, Fort Concho, to protect the settlers as they moved West after the Civil War. The lawless town of "Santa Angela" cropped up across the river. Today's contemporary attractions include boating and water sports on Lake Nasworthy (less than a mile from the KOA), the planetarium at Angelo State University and the beautiful river walk through town. Shop for antiques, visit museums and play golf. Then relax at KOA's 10-acre campground covered with native mesquite trees. Enjoy Wi-Fi, cable TV in the game room, barbecue pits and a 1,...

A JOKE!!! The other girl in the office never knows anything every time you call her response every time is I m not sure well I m not sure why she even works there! Charges you for an extra 11 days even tho u only stayed 1 extra day! Also careful with the breaker boxes the camper behind us their breaker box caught fire burned a hole in our sewer pipe had to replace those and having to get a new outside power outlet because we also took a hit on our side and now we have breakers tripping! They didn t even do nothing about it either still let him continue using the same breaker box without anyone coming to look at it! I also asked to move sites to be in the shade and they told me they had someone moving in that spot the exact day I asked, but nobody moved into the spot the whole 2 and a half weeks that I stayed. I stay at koas / many campgrounds every couple months and this is by far the worst campground I ve ever stayed at! Very money hungry, greedy, and rude!

If I could leave no stars I would. Made a last minute reservation for Memorial weekend and came in Saturday. We unloaded and went to dinner. Came back, cabin was hot, had two ac units and one didnt work at all. Went to use the tv for some evening cartoons for my kids, wifi didnt work and no channels. Finally went to sleep. Next morning (Sunday) for showers we noticed the bathrooms were dirty; trash overflowing, floor, shower and sink dirty, ac didnt work there either. Went to town and ate and such. Came back to swim since the pool closes at 6, you cant have even a water or an insulated cup in pool area and boy they were sure to walk by and yell no drinks. They had some young guy driving around on a golf cart all weekend and then the older guy that yelled about the drinks yet the bathrooms couldnt get cleaned. Monday morning the bathrooms still were filthy and hot. We got dressed, packed and loaded then cleaned up. I swept inside and out, cleaned on top of fridge, made sure mattresses were back up and nothing was left, cleaned out fridge, and dumped all trash, my mom even took to dumpster. Few days later noticed I was charged the $75 incidental fee and it was no longer pending ok my account. I called three times and the third time left a voicemail to have them call me back. No call back. Called again and she answered but was rude off the bat going off on a list of things that were wrong. Said it wasnt swept, there was food all over on the ground outside, sugar on the fridge and bottles and cans left in trash can. I swept everything and when I did I could tell noone had swept there in a while. We didnt even have sugar, we had a coffee maker of our own but no sugar, my mom even mentioned how she forgot to bring it. We had no cans or soda bottles, I know because we literally only had beer when there and my kids had water. The food left on the ground my 18 month old spilled a few funyun chips and smashed them (on the ground), how am I supposed to clean that with all the dirt and rocks?! She said they had pictures and told me she would email them, that never happened. Will be calling to ask again for them. This place is a joke, especially for the price. Youre better off at a motel 6 or a tent.

I loved my stay here! I was taking a motorcycle trip from Denver to this area, and I decided to camp at KOAs instead of other lodgings. Im glad I did! This location is really nice: - great amenities that feel updated / modernized, - kept very clean and tidy, - at pretty nice location with plenty of tree shade (note: there is some light air traffic overhead) - managed well, efficiently, and with heart My tent site was really nice, with a raised area for the tent which - had it rained - would have been a major source of peace of mind. In addition to the all-around great experience with the core reason for my visit (tent camping + showers), I also had a truly excellent experience with the folks who run this location: Diana & Troy (and another woman I spoke to only over the phone). Without getting into a very long story, I had a 22-hr motorcycle ride to get here that did not go very well. When Diana and Troy heard about the story, they personally took care to make sure that I was okay, and went out of their way to make me feel right at home. At every possibility, they were accommodating to a degree that would never be expected of a management team, and - after an arduous trip - it was enough to bring tears to my eyes. These are GOOD people. I would stop at the San Angelo KOA Holiday just to support Diana and Troy even if it wasnt great, but the awesome thing is it IS great. Great stay, great people. You really couldnt ask for more.

Peaceful neighborhood vibe among the campers and long-term residents. -Very clean campground. -Had a nice laundry room. -Site was really nice gravel and spacious with paver patio and fire pit. -Lots of space behind and between spots. -Close gas, food, and groceries, without feeling busy. We stayed for 5 months as my husband worked a contract in the area. Very close to the city but with a remoter feel. The staff and management are always friendly, and helpful. You can see the care they put into this campground. They are always out working and trying to improve the campground. I believe all the sites work are pull thru which can be nice. Very clean facilities and park. They have 2 nice walking paths next to them. They offer site trash pick up, so convenient. The one thing I would say they could do is invest in some new dryers. There essentially is only 2 dryers that work properly. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend and if we are ever in the area again we will most definitely stay here!!

The staff was very friendly and helpful, This Koa is well kept. Just fyi my parents stopped by for my birthday dinner and parked at our campsite, was told by management that the Deputy Sheriff drives through there a lot and would have the car told. Also we were in the pool drinking a Seltzer Water, management told us no drinks or food in the pool area that if the Deputy Sheriff was to see this that they would shut the pool down. Just watch out for the Deputy obviously he drives through a lot looking to give tickets or tow vehicles.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AND RUDE MANAGEMENT! We are RVers and have stayed at hundreds of sites, including quite a few KOAs but the management here was TERRIBLE! We were in the process of moving and when making the reservation, stated we had a Uhaul towing a car. When we arrived and stayed a few days (to visit friends) we were not only scolded but VERY RUDELY treated for having TWO vehicles parked at our site (which was weird because there were other sites with multiple vehicles and not permanent sites too). She stated it was a fire hazard but we werent blocking any lanes, fire hydrants, other visitor parking spots and were well within our spot. We were then RUDELY told to not plug in our electric vehicle because the park doesnt have the resources yet there are golf carts (which require plug in) and numerous large RVs and campers needing 50 & 30 volt. Weve been at many other sites with literally less resources that could handle the minimal power requirement. Then, a friend came over and parked her truck at our spot after we moved our other vehicle. We were yet again RUDELY yelled at to move the vehicle and that we needed to pay $5 for the visitor to even be here! Thats not a KOA policy so where does the $5 go? Not the KOA... Its one thing to have these local policies in place but they arent stated or posted anywhere but from the managements mouth and its always very rude. Their approach couldve changed this review. Needs younger more appropriately resourced and professional, hospitality staff in order to handle the customers coming to this location.

Out of all of the KOA s, we have stayed out through the years. This by far has to be the worst management behavior ever experience at a KOA. The managers, Troy and Dyanne are not reasonable or levelheaded, that if asked a question becomes very hostile. Our daughter who is 11 went to ask for quarters our first day arriving to only be scolded by Diane the manager that it was inconvenient and you only bring a 10 next time. If she asked about the pool, she was scolded and told she cannot be there without an adult, even if she was just asking if it was open. And yes the pool was open one day before June 1, that is why she asked after that day. First they said it was at their discretion when they will open the pool the day after they open the pool they did not open it again for a few days then being told that there was a June 1 rule, when really, it s just at their discretion or what s convenient for them. They refused to unlock any toy to be used by children. My daughter could not walk comfortably around the facility without being scolded for any and everything by Dyanne and Troy. One evening 3 young girls with the most uncomfortable looks on their faces asked us if there was a shower they could use they were staying in a tent. Troy refuse them the shower pin like they were in the wrong. Of coarse we gave them the code. I felt horrible for them. As we were unloading groceries, we were threatened to be towed within five minutes if we did not move our truck, even if we tried to explain to them, we were just unloading groceries when asked for the corporate number after days of their inappropriate behavior, I was given the number to the front office to speak to Dyanne about Dyanne when I asked for the owners number I was screamed at and accused of trying to assault her so I started to record for my safety, only to be screamed at by her husband, Troy for recording him and his wife s behavior. All was done in front of other customers when I refused to leave the front office without a valid number to call we were then told we had to leave and had the sheriffs called and trespassed against all for asking for a higher ups number. Troy yelled violently when I asked for the owner s number he claimed he was the owner and it won t go no further than himself me and my family then decide it was best for us to leave for our sake in our daughter sake not a pleasant experience by far. Tried reaching out to the owners multiple times, but have yet to hear back. These were just a few instances with the manager of the property. Troy and Dyanne.

The staff are very nice but are very procedure oriented. We cant hang a few clothes outside the camper van, every morning they blow the snowblower and the noise is very unpleasant although its not necessary. Pool hours are very restrictive (10 a.m.-4 p.m.). Too bad because when you come back from a day outside, a swimming pool would be good. Very noisy at 6-7 a.m. because most of the people there are permanent residents and leave early in the morning for work with their vehicles.

Centrally located in the park there is a nice pool, laundry room, and clean bathrooms with showers! My husband and I stayed at this KOA in our travel trailer as work brought us to the area temporarily. With how much we travel for work, and of all the different parks we have stayed at, I will have to say this was our best experience yet! The managers Troy and Diana work so hard maintaining the park! They said that only 4 people were allowed to stay in the cabin and ended up charging him for 6 people for 2 nights. They wouldnt even listen to anything he had to say. He ended up leaving a week before he was supposed to due to the people running this location treating him and his group like garbage. Would not recommend this location at all. Every campsite Ive been to my neighbors are always really nice that I invite them for a beer when I cook out, or vise versa. The staff here is incredible and will help you out as much as they can. I appreciate the help from these great people when we had that freeze here 2x. I couldnt find propane, and since they had propane on site, they refilled my tanks. When they were closed and my propane ran out (cause I was unprepared), they came out and helped me. These people here are kind-hearted, and I would recommend staying here! They have a trail thats 2 miles long. Its basically a hill. But at the bottom of it, the lake is there, and you can hang out there. The lake is also across the park, so if you dont want to make the hike. Its literally the best campground Ive been to.

Update: second time camping here and Im miserable! We are military family coming from ohio and had to stay in san angelo and it was very pleasant the first time we stayed and was an easy choice. However, we bought a different rig that didnt have two air conditioners on the roof (Ohio doesnt really need two). We ended up buying a seperate floor air conditioner that you normally plug into any home socket to cool the rear part of the unit. We used this floor unit at multiple KOAs and other campgrounds with no issues. We typically just plug into the tower instead of plugging into our rv sockets because it will trip the breakers. No issues with other campgrounds until we got here and the manager stated that their infrastructure couldnt support something plugged into that tower. This was the first and only campground that has told us this. So here we are, sweating in our bed at 10 pm because we didnt know that we couldnt plug into their tower...even though they stated it was on their website but i couldnt find it on there. If you are from the north and only have one ac on your rv roof and expect to power an additional air conditioner here... you cant...and they wont allow it. They stated its too much money to upgrade their infrastructure which is totally understandable, but it should be in bold letters when you reserve through KOA website. Previous post from 2019: What an awesome place to camp!!! The camp hosts and employees are all amazing and friendly, and the actual camp is clean and organized. The campsites are situated to where the sewers are facing each other instead of right next to your front door and picnic table! Ingenious to use in a smaller space and the only camp place Ive seen use this so far. The facilities are well maintained and smell clean. The area has very beautiful landscape and a hiking/running road right next to camp where you can see the lake for.a 2 mile loop. All other amenities are great as well and too much good to describe. Tent campers have a great setup and the cabins here are very well maintained and clean!!! KOA has hits and misses around the US, but this one is definitely the best of the best!

Easy stay for one night. Traffic patterns are a little confusing and clearly caters to seasonal and long term residents. Kept getting headlights in our window at night from people coming in. I dont really care for sites that face each other, but luckily our neighbor was not out much. People were nice. Dog-friendliness: Has a decent dog park.

Staff was friendly and helpful. However pull thru site was not level and not all that clean or picked up. Saw several cigarette and cigar butts, also someone previously decided to brush their dog leaving dog hair around the site. It was nice having the walking trail to use and enjoy watching the local deer.

I don t know what the deal is with KOA. We travel with friends. This has happened every time we have been in a KOA. When booking, I make a point to tell them we are traveling together and want campsites together. It NEVER happens!! What is that all about. They may even say that we can be together when making reservations but when we arrive they don t have 2 sites together. There is no discussing or changing sites. We are told they are completely full. All I get from check in people is sorry, we did the best we could. We are currently camping under this situation. Even though we were told 2 sites together were not available, the site right next to ours has been vacant the entire time we have been here. Soooo frustrating and not worth booking KOA in the future.

The park is very well kept. Although I just had a disappointing interaction with an individual who claims he is the manager of the San Angelo KOA. This person approached me as I was throwing out some packing trash and demanded I tell him what RV space I was in. Never having seen him before I asked him why he wanted to know. Unfortunately, the conversation did not go well from that point, as his demeanor became more hostile. During this intense exchange, I asked this individual if he came over to me in order to fight, he stated no I don t want to have to kill you. I can t understand how a person with that type of personality could reflect positively on the San Angelo KOA.

One of the most friendly KOA campgrounds I have stayed at. Nice gift shop and very clean. They strive to make you feel at home. The bathroom suites with individual shower, sink and toilet facilities are the most creative and useful concept I have ever seen at a KOA. They are substantial in size (a parent and a couple of children could fit in one comfortably) and considerably lesson the fear for disease transmission from others in the same facility. I hear the main bathroom facility is being renovated to accommodate more of these bathroom suites. I will definitely be back!
