There were not many places to sit, and there was almost no parking. Once we were in, we had to secure a place to sit, and the food wasnt particularly good. Maybe another thing would have been better. If you want to read or just relax by yourself, I would not recommend it, but I would recommend it if you go with someone.

Amazing little place. Customer service was amazing. Food was perfect. Great combination of textures and flavors. Every thing was cooked to perfection! The in side is super clean and well organized. I wish we had more stuff like this closer to my home. I had the bento box and it was perfect. Great prifor the amount of food you get. Pork was cooked excellent. Partner had curly and it was just as a good. I had a ice coffee and again perfect. I cant rave enough about this place.

Unfortunately, the food wasn t that great and it was expensive. I saw too much pink for my liking. The hamburger patties were burnt from the outside but pink on the inside! I should have just ordered the omurice (the egg and rice was yummy) without the hamburger patties. There is also very limited seating, so keep that in mind if you go for that reason.

Love this cafe! Authentic Japanese dishes and staff were friendly and helpful with providing suggestions. There are traditional Japanese style booths for seating, as well as American style tables. The chicken Katsu was some of the best I ve ever had and there are freshly baked steam buns with fun flavors like pizza or chicken curry. For matcha lovers, there s a large selection of matcha drinks, and also matcha mochi and ice cream Parking: Small lot shared my multiple businesses

Super cute place with super friendly staff. Food was delicious and came out super quick. Went with my mom and sister and my mom was in Matcha heaven with all their options for Matcha drinks and desserts. The bento box with chicken Katsu was delicious. Parking is a bit tight but worth it for the experience.

A solid 4 stars. There is limited seating so it made for a wait. The food was delicious. The rice and the fries were a little hard but the flavor was good for everything. Staff and service were great. Very kind and apologetic for the wait. It was kind of weird. They seat you, but then you go back up to the counter to order and then they bring your food out. Prices were reasonable. Do be sure to check the menu online because the printed one has less offerings. They do honor the online menu, though. We had the Okaeri loaded fries, Omurice Curry, and the Kids Teriyaki.

everything about Okaeri is just perfect. The most kind workers, amazing food, amazing matcha (and I m super picky about my matcha- I love their matcha w honey!) I don t even know what else to say other than you MUST go here. Everything is prepared with care, the seating choices are awesome (minimal tho!), and very cute decor! The portions are huge and filling!! All of their hot dogs are the best, I love the katsu one! Their loaded fries are amazing, yakisoba is great, and the onigirazu (I got a katsu one) is yummy especially when they make it fresh around the morning! The workers have been extremely kind everytime I go in, they answer your questions and make sure u enjoy your meal and ask for feedback. I m so sad to only be in Dallas temporarily because this place is amazing.

The Okaeri Cafe is the definition of simple is often better. My first visit here was met with kind staff and quick service. Everything was clean and was cleaned often. The bathroom was quaint and offered hand sanitizer as well as mouth wash, along with the normal commodities. They offered complimentary self-serve iced lime cucumber water. The takoyaki app was perfect, from its crispness and fluff to the eel inspired top sauce. Fish flakes and green onions complimented the calamari dish. Chicken gyoza was good, if a bit plain. For entrees, I tried chicken katsu curry and omurice. The katsu was impressively moist and tender while retaining its crunch. The omelet was cooked to perfection and the demi glaze served around it was a beautiful mix of thickened stock and soy. (Think of a soy sauce mole). The rice on both dishes was cooked to perfection. Soft, not mushy, and still has a stick. The overall presentation of the food and its restaurant hostess was petite, simple, and catching where it needed to be. When I come next Ill update on how the drinks are. I have no doubt they will be just as great as everything else I experienced. Both thumbs up

I saw a group of people being asked to give up a table when they sat down first with not so good attitude , I thought this was a first come first serve restaurant; Couldn t have imagined if it were us, I d be pissed. Aside from their horrendous service, their food was not so good, their curry katsu is very dry as if I was eating chicken breast that was cooked for more than 1 hour. Food no good service no good yeah I mean if you re just here to eat without palate, well I would still avoid it

This is now my favorite cafe in the Dallas-Fort-Worth area! Such a cutely-decorated Japanese and Shiba Inu inspired interior, with yummy matcha drinks and Japanese comfort food. Inside the cafe, are a few small Japanese-style Tatami rooms with floor-mat seating (which I thought was really unique) as well as traditional table seating and some lounge couches. The service is fast and friendly for the most part and the ambience is nice for a chill afternoon for hanging with friends or studying. They have a wide selection of different matcha and tea drinks, as well as a menu of Japanese comfort foods including katsu curry, onigirazu, omurice, yakisoba, bento boxes, and even Japanese-style hot dogs. They are also Shiba-obsessed, as there are Shiba Inu decorations everywhere all throughout the cafe. Here s what I tried: -Okaeri Loaded Fries ($7, such a huge portion!) -Spam Onigirazu ($8) -Omurice ($12) -Japanese Sausage Curry ($14) -Matcha Latte ($5) -Mochi Trio ($6.75) -Free Water -Restrooms and WIFI

First come first serve seating, order at the counter and fight for a spot. The seats where you sit on the ground is really appealing at first but the table is really small. Its a lap desk and can fit two plates at most with very little room. Food is cute and decent. Its cafe food not restaurant so keep your expectations low. I like the loaded fries crunchy and lots of food flavors. Most of the things are decent here, but I can say with confidence that you shouldnt get the chicken katsu onigirazu. It was terrible lol. Soggy and unfresh tasting. Parking: Limited parking in front but a huge parking lot right at the neighboring building

It was our first time coming here yesterday. We loved it. The food and coffee was great! I had their omurice and it was filling! I wish there was more of the glaze though yummy and cute presentation! My boyfriend had the curry katsu, that was okay! He still finished it but we did agree having better. For appetizers, we had the loaded fries and okonomiyaki pancake! They were delicious no doubt! The reason why I give them five stars is because of the ambiance, interior, and customer service. DO KEEP IN MIND, that this is a café so do not expect 5 star Michelin gourmet food. It s supposed to be comforting and that s definitely what Okaeri achieved. We will definitely come back!

I want this place to stay in business but I think it really needs some improvements: I ordered Misas Matcha and Miyako Mochi and both were terrible. They really need to consider buying higher grade matcha because the taste in the drink was bitter and chalky. And the mochi was hard and crumbly - it seems like it had been sitting out for a while and was old. I think this shop is cute and the people working there are nice but they really need some improvements.

The most special thing is that they have a sit-down area where you can have your meal sitting on a pillow across from your partner. Definitely one of my favorite places for food now in Dallas. 10/10 ! P.S. I forgot to mention they have a rewards program that gives you 1 point for every dollar you spend and can be used to redeem food and drinks. I m really not sure why the high praise of this place. The staff was very friendly, the reason for 3 star is staff lack basic SOP experience dealing rush hour. As people pack the place no explanation on how one is to be seated or if there s a waiting queue. I saw couple who s order came out with no seats yet or sitting at the sofa section bending over to eat. Omauri rice was very plan but the egg was beautifully made. Pork Yakisoba was made extremely bad. The pork was not marinated therefore very plan and the meat odor was extremely strong. Cabbage was barely cooked. This dish was a complete disaster. Tonkatsu Curry was the best out of the 3 however the curry sauce was way to watery to be consider Japanese curry. The friedpork was good. This might be a fluke for my first time but I m definitely will not be back.

Since someone posted about this place, I paid a visit today. I think the owner overpriced the foods. We ordered one teriyaki bento and one omurice. 1. The sauces were salty. 2. The egg on the omurice was too hard. 3. The food portion was too small. 4. The server just brought one spoon and two folks. We paid for these two foods more than $32? It would be better for me to visit Panda Express next time.

I can see the appeal of this cafe. Its all vibes! Unfortunately the food fell short. I guess dont expect authentic Japanese food. Kids meal is cute but way too salty. Everything else is just passable. The only thing I enjoyed were the drinks. So a good place to get a drink but not so much the food.

LOVE this place! I come here all the time and bring family and friends who always leave impressed. Brought my father here, who is a chef, and he was so in love with the chicken katsu curry that he is still trying to find a way to replicate it haha! The interior is cute and always VERY clean. And the staff are welcoming and helpful. I will definitely continue to be a regular here!

A perfect 10/10 one of the best atmosphere to have a conversation with a loved one or a friend, service was just great overall you can really feel the family touch in the café. I ve been to multiple restaurants and cafés and it took a 2nd visit to leave an outstanding impression. Most places I visit take about 12 visits for me to leave a positive review. I will definitely be coming back to Okaeri Café.

We ordered one of the special Gyu Doggu which was delicious if not a little messy. The chicken Katsu curry was very good. Definitely stop here if you re craving curry.

How is this place 4.4 stars? I just done get it . The food taste so bad, the drinks were bland and barely any seating. The only thing it is good for is to stop by and take a few pictures of the walls and the statue dog. The seating aren t even like seating it looks like they got a tiny laptop table and put on the floor with the chair cushion y all can do their seating at home, have a vase with a cherry blossom branch and BOOM! There ya go! Save a bunch of $ and have a better meal at home/somewhere else (DO NOT come because of TikTok!!!)

Cute but without enough seating. I wanted to try an onigirazu, but they were sold out (at around 4:30 p.m. on a Sunday). The curry was surprisingly watery - I personally would have preferred it a little thicker. Foods and drinks were good overall, but we found nothing special about them. Its worth a visit if you are in the area, but I wouldnt drive the distance just to dine here.

Cute Cafe. Id waited a long time to finally visit. Im sad to say we were disappointed with our food. The okomomiyaki was a freaking egg foo yung. Seriously? If there was any cabbage in it, it was barely there. The only thing that made it anywhere near authentic was the katsuobushi. The sauces on top of it were meh. I felt like I was eating at a cheapie Chinese restaurant. The kids chicken was mostly breading than chicken. Kudos on making the rice look like a panda. No thank you, Okaeri.

Okaeri Cafe is a Japanese cafe located in Richardson, Texas. The cafe serves a variety of Japanese comfort foods, such as omurice, katsu curry, takoyaki, and yakisoba. The cafe also has a wide selection of Japanese teas and coffees. I recently visited Okaeri Cafe and we were very impressed with the food. The omurice was especially good, with a fluffy omelet and a delicious curry sauce. The katsu curry was also very flavorful, and the takoyaki were perfectly cooked. The service at Okaeri Cafe was also excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and she made sure that we had everything we needed. Overall, we had a great experience at Okaeri Cafe. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very inviting. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a great Japanese meal. Here are some of the pros and cons of Okaeri Cafe: Pros: Delicious food Excellent service Welcoming atmosphere Affordable prices Cons: The cafe can get crowded, especially during peak hours The seating is a bit limited Overall, I would highly recommend Okaeri Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable Japanese meal. The food is consistently good, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is very inviting.

There was certainly not enough seating when we arrived, with standing room only at one point. Similar for parking. One of the people taking orders failed to even put part of our order on the ticket. The food was great though, but came out in a very staggered manner, leaving us to wait quite a bit before everyone was served. The whole places appearance was very cute and fitting. We loved the little touches on decor and enjoyed our time here regardless.

This is a very chill, cozy, and relaxing place for spending time during weekend. They offer some great Japanese cuisine and a great vibe for you! I personally love the taste of their katsu a lot. The marinade is just so good, crispy outside while tender inside. I put 4 stars on food not because of the quality but because they don t mention additional cost for the soft boiled egg on the menu, and personally prefer thicker curry sauce. Overall, I would definitely revisit soon, and consider to join their rewards program next time! Vegetarian options: They offer veggie option for most of the items.

I saw all of the positive reviews so I thought I would give this place a try and was unfortunately quite disappointed. I got a matcha latte and Tonkatsu Bento Box and my husband got a ice latte and Omurice. He said the ice latte wasn t that good and and my matcha latte didn t have much matcha flavor and wasn t that great as well. The Omurice eggs were soft but the sauce wasn t tasty and didn t taste like any we have had in Japan. My Bento Tonkatsu was okay, but it tasted more like it was cooked in a more Chinese style. I was hoping for a Japanese style potato salad, but it was American and just so-so. Honestly the best thing of my Bento was the rice, and normally rice should not be the best item. There are some positive points. The atmosphere is nice and very cute. The staff are also very friendly and quick with serving and taking your plates. I am guessing a lot of the positive reviews might be from people that haven t tried authentic Japanese food or are new to it. If you like it then great. But for me, with the cost and quality of what we got, I don t think it s worth it.

This is a pretty cute spot for a date or just to hangout. It seems like it can get quite busy here and the seating and parking can be limited, so I recommend carpooling here. I got the omurice, and loaded fries. The omurice was definitely a better experience than the one Ive tried at another restaurant here in the DFW area. I cant speak for the authenticity of it, but it was yummy and I ate all of it. It was paired nicely with the glacé sauce. The loaded fries were surprisingly good as well. I wish there was an option to add meat to the fries.

Ive been here a couple of times; both by myself and as well as with my friends. I would say that it is a good place to study at in the morning because it is quieter. Towards the end of the day, more people come in to actually have meals so I wouldnt recommend coming in to study then. Food-wise, Ive gotten their bento boxes before and they were okay. Sometimes its good but then sometimes it could be a little bland. The Loaded Fries are really good, actually quite filling. I tried to find a picture but it seems like I lost it. I havent really tried any of their specialty drinks other than the Charai Guy. It was pretty good if you enjoy brown sugar syrup like I do!

This has been on my list for a while so I made the trek from Fort Worth to see what the buzz was about. Look. Its cute, I will give it that. The traditional looking booths are definitely ~aesthetic~ and there were several people waiting for the booths to open up so they could take photos for the gram. (Not a bad thing!! Just be prepared that this is one of those places.) I did think the inside was small, but so is the menu. I was super excited to try the omurice, as it can be difficult to find in DFW, but I was disappointed it was a bit flavorless, even with the sauce. It did look beautiful, though. Okonomiyaki was delicious. Wife had the curry and she said it was pretty okay. Drinks were definitely tasty. We had a good time looking at the figure collection. All in all, its pretty adorable but I wont drive across the metroplex for it again.

My spouse and I visited here after seeing this place on TikTok. It s a cute place with friendly staff and the food and drinks are delicious. My spouse got the chicken katsu bento box which came with rice and two other sides. My spouse chose the potato salad and seaweed. He loved both though said he wished there were more side options. I ordered the omurice. The demi glaze was so delicious and I m usually not a fan of runny eggs but the way this dish was presented made it all so yummy! We both ordered the passion fruit lemonade. I thought it was just perfect but my spouse wished it was sweeter. I highly recommend this place if you re looking some a quiet place to chill or looking for a light lunch.

A very cute cafe in Dallas! The service was warm and kind. The decor is cute and very inviting! The food was absolutely delicious. I first got one of their summer drinks which was a passion fruit lemonade. It was so refreshing especially coming in from the intense heat. My friend and I got a regular order of fries and one order of the loaded fries. Let me tell you, the fries were out of this world. They were pipping HOT. The right texture. And the sauce that s served on top/on the side fits it perfectly. There s also some seasoning they put on it that just makes it all come together full circle. I then got an order of the chicken curry katsu. Pretty good! Chicken was crunchy and juicy. Potatoes and carrots were cooked just right. My only personal preference would be for the curry to be a bit thicker. It had a soup like consistency that I personally don t prefer, but it still didn t take away from the fact that it was good. If you re in the Dallas area, I truly recommend this gem!
