Our new favorite date night restaurant. Overall amazing. Great date night with my wife. The food was incredible, the spot was super small and very unique. We sat right next to one of the butcher shop windows with a view of our protein options for our dinner. We will definitely be back!

I recently dined here and was greeted by the owner. The food was top-tier, and our server was attentive and friendly. I took my grandparents, who were visiting, and they loved the meal and ambiance. My partner and I went to Bar Ranch on 8/31 for a birthday dinner. Arrived early for our dinner and were treated to personal service as we were the only ones there at the time. Spencer was fantastic and ensured that we were walked through the menu in a comprehensive and thorough fashion. He was sure to pass along his recommendations as well which we happily took him up on. We ended up ordering a dinner for 2 option from an off menu steak option. We decided on an A4 wagyu, picking the potatoes and brussel sprouts as our sides, the tartar as our starter and the cheesecake for dessert. Everything was amazing! Exceeding my every expectation and hope when first looking into this restaurant. Service was stellar and the ambiance is intimate. A perfect place for a birthday or an anniversary which seemed to be the vibe of the other folks that eventually filtered in after us. I was sad when I started to feel full and knew our experience here would be coming to an end. I sincerely and earnestly look forward to next visit and would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique, amazing, and intimate experience with the best steak and sides I ve ever had the pleasure to try.

Cozy, great service and amazing food! The beer selection is connoisseurs worthy and the dessert will blow you away. I had the ribeye fillet and on each bite my pallad went nuts. My wife had the steak Sammie sandwich and it was everything you d hope for and more! Again great service by the host. Me and the fam are definitely coming back. Now back to my Russian stout

Ok my friend intro d me to this place several months back. I m not in the area OR else, I would make an excuse to do lunch here every week! I ve had the steak Cobb salad, the prime rib & the burgers here so far every one is 10/10!!! The restaurant, environment, grill & plating area, the viewable meat locker & butcher s area all create such an interesting vibe you just wanna sit & take it in & relax. The owner & staff are all so personal & engaging & genuinely care about your experience. Refreshing how much pride they take in what they do without being pretentious!

Came here for my birthday dinner and it was such an amazing experience. I would even go as far and say it was a perfect dinner night for my husband and I. Steaks are beautifully done, our waiter made sure to tell us how they prep and cook the steaks here. Please note if you do not like your steaks on the more rare side this may not be the place for you. Small dinner menu but I believe this adds more to the experience. Gaspar (I hope Im spelling the name right) was amazing and super helpful when it came to the menu options and wine pairings. I dont think its often you can say you got to meet the owner of an establishment and have conversations with them. Definitely a more intimate dining experience and I highly recommend coming here! Will be back soon!

This place is a MUST!! I will admit that I typically don t enjoy red meat but this was the first place that changed my mind on that! Melt in your mouth delicious! The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door. We let the owner, Lane, guide us on all things to order. We had the wedge salad, waygu ribeye with asparagus, potatoes, brussels, and mushrooms. The cheesecake and bread pudding were STELLAR! The wine that Lane selected was outstanding, as well! The price point is steep but worth every single penny! We will DEFINITELY be back over and over again with friends and family!

Wow. Great experience. Lane and the chef greet you, go over options, answer questions, tell you about the place etc... this was fun and special from the get go. We did the dinner for 2, NY prime/waygu 18oz w potatoes and sprouts. Meat was amazing. It has a nice char, which u can understand bc u watch them cook it. The Brussels sprouts were great, potatoes were tasty. We also had the cheesecake, made in house, wow it was creamy. They will cork a btl of wine, so get one and take it home. I had a btl of Stress Vines, a cab, delightful. Lane corked it for me. Perfect. Service and great food come at a price, this was worth it. Great fun in downtown plano, highly recommend

Unbelievable dining experience. The owner/butcher gave us detailed explanations of all of the meat selections for the evening and he didnt fail to deliver on his promise of the best steak around. The time and care placed into the selection of the steaks was evident in both presentation and taste. Not to be undersold, the sides were also amazing. BAR-Ranch is a fantastic location created by business owner and veteran Lane Rainwater. You can expect to be delighted at every step of the restaurant experience. The atmosphere is a curated intimate new york style steakhouse, maybe 10 tables or so in total. The ceasar and wedge salads, both amazing. The Am F1 American NY strip just melts in your mouth. Asparagus, mushrooms, sprouts brussel and potatoes were wonderful complements. The cheesecake was solid, its usually my go-to. However, we also tried the bread pudding with ice cream and that was absolutely brilliant.

We had high hopes for this place based on a Reddit thread we had seen suggesting lesser known steak houses in the area. The actual place is quaint and romantic, with only 7 tables. Service was extremely slow and chaotic, our server was the owner and he frequented our table so much that I felt like we were on a date with him instead of each other. He was pretty condescending, mansplained and bragged the whole time about his ranch and the meat and didn t take social queues at all that we wanted him to stop talking. He also smelled heavily of alcohol which is so inappropriate. I wanted my steak cooked medium, which was his first problem with me. Apparently you must only order steak the way he deems appropriate. I didn t eat it. The veg was ok. Messy presentation, and for the price I should be able to order my steak wrapped in bacon and burnt if that s how I prefer it. By the time it was dessert course I was so ready to leave that I didn t even eat it. Place could be cool, but the owner gets in his own way.

This wasnt just a meal...this was a culinary experience like no other. Most restaurants are all about quantity, not BAR...theyre strictly focused on mastering the quality. Owner Lane greeted us as we walked in. He treated us like old friends, guided us to our table and gave us a breakdown of how he personally selects each cut of beef. He even knew the genetics of each cow. Shortly after, Chef Spenser came to our table to explain how he would be preparing our meal and what he would recommend. We ordered the dinner for two, picking the A5 Japanese Chateaubriand, crostinis, potatoes and brussel sprouts. Owner Lane asked if wed like any wine or beer with our meal. My buddy is more of a bourbon guy, so we politely declined. Lane leaned in and gently asked if wed prefer some off menu bourbon. We gladly accepted. ....so Im a bit of a beef fanatic/connoisseur. When I say this was the best cut of beef Ive ever eaten, I mean it. Ive never chewed so slowly in my life. The sides were also top notch. I asked for Lane to bring me a glass of red wine...he immediately knew exactly what to bring. This man knows his stuff!!! Lane offered us more bourbon after our meal and asked about dessert. We ordered the cheesecake..which was *chefs kiss* If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Will definitely be back!!!

Extraordinary! The best steak I have ever had. My wife and I spent our anniversary night here and the service and food was top notch in every way! They really went above and beyond to give us not only a great meal but also a great experience! Fresh roses on the table, skillfully crafted appetizers, salad and entrees perfectly cooked and plated in a way that I was never expecting to see in downtown Plano! Friendly and accommodating staff that made us feel right at home. To top it off it was the best steak either of us has ever had, and we have been to all of the top steakhouses in the DFW area and several of the top rated ones around the country. We had an amazing time at this restaurant. We went for our anniversary celebration and they had a small bouquet of red roses waiting for us on the table, what an amazing gesture! The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable. I wanted something a little different than what was offered on the menu for the night and the staff didn t hesitate to accommodate me. We were shown our steaks before they were cooked and then we were able to see all the behind the scenes preparations and cooking which was really neat. The restaurant is small with only a handful of tables, but it was so charming and we felt like it made it all the more special. We truly felt appreciated just being there to dine for the evening. And the food was absolutely amazing!! Everything was plated so beautifully and we could see the care and pride they take in their food. We ve been to many a nice steak restaurant and this one is by far the favorite. The steak tasted delicious, best I ve had. The appetizer was delicious as well and my husband loved the Caesar salad with their homemade dressing. We will absolutely be coming back very soon!!

If anyone knows me, they know I NEVER give away my restaurants because I like to keep them for myself, but here we are!!! This place is too good to not rave about. The steaks are impeccable and are carved with such precision then cooked to perfection. The mushrooms are by far my favorite side, but all sides are amazing and tasty. Wine selection is also perfectly selected. I love the feel of the restaurant and how my friends and I are treated like family. Awesome experience and unique gustatory pleasure and over the top bill. The staff were very nice, friendly and courteous. My wife and I had the 3 course dinner for 2, which was the only option for dinner and goes from 295$ to 495$. The final bill was close to 600$ (!) for both of us, 400$ for a 32oz Wagyu steak and 165$ for a 2017 Malbec, plus tip, so definitely an unexampled rip on the wallet for a 3 course dinner (carrot cake as desert) plus wine. We wont come here every other week obviously, unless I win at the lottery... Since I dont play, it was my last time.

The smooth creamy mushroom cappuccino was served hot and delicious.The pairing of the Prosecco was perfect! The grilled brussels sprouts Caesar, was amazing. The brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, texture, flavors- Perfect! The paring of Sauv Blanc was delicious. The Amuse was a great pallet cleanser to move onto our next course. The Ricotta Tortellino, freshly made soft and creamy. A perfect blend of flavors, Absolutely delicious.. The Rose Rock Pinot noir, was a perfect choice. Then, my Absolute favorite;. The Australian Wagu - the flavors of the meat the cut was amazing.. the potatoes were delicious. The wine, Vice Cab that was paired with. It was fabulous. Chef couldn t have cooked this anymore Perfect!!!!!!! Then we finished it off with a delicious Lemon Tart- lemon curd, lemongrass ice cream, charcoal sugar dessert, with a perfect, house citrucello tean cocktail. Unfortunately, the service was subpar, with a refusal to take a starter order, and they even messed up our salad order (typically, a restaurant would remove that from the bill, but they still charged us). The owner was flippant when we opted to skip ordering dessert. Which was rude to say the least. Then we were rushed to leave as we were finishing up our bottle of wine. The chef and staff were openly having disagreements that was loud enough to interrupt our private conversation. must say, this was my first experience at this location. Reservations were made two days ahead. We arrived on time. We were instantly seated. Our table had a dozen cut forever yours long stem red roses laying on the table. What a delightful suprise! The owner spread a table napkin on our laps and asked if I wanted him to put the rises by the front door. I did. I made the reservations in my husbands name and did comment it was our anniversary, so we were looking for a seat off alone if possible. Although it wasnt possible where we were seated was away from the group of other patrons. It wasnt too noisy. We were unable to hear anyone elses conversation, and I am sure they did not hear ours. The wait staff was very friendly. My friends. You really do need to work more on responsibilities. I think what has happened is that everyone is trying too hard to make sure things are done, but communication is lost. The service was stellar, but we had too many different people coming to our table to remove plates, then give us new plates to have them removed and returned. Better communication will resolve this. Typically, one waitstaff per table resolves this. If that person needs help, they ask the boss. We were greeted initially by the owner. The chef was next to come to our table. This was a very nice experience as most restaurants, especially in fine dining, do not have the chef initially come to the table. I liked that. It makes patrons feel special. The chef took our order. He did ask if we needed an explanation of the steaks. We did not. If it was our first experience with fine dining, then maybe we would have needed that. I would think that people new to the experience would benefit. However, we did not require it. We both had decided on the Wagyu Tomahawk for two, which was part of the 3 course meal choices. (The other choice for two was the wagyu NY strip). The chef BROUGHT THE UNCOOKED STEAK TO US to ensure that it was indeed what we wanted and if that cut was satisfactory. A really good cut of steak has marbling and fat. A lean piece of steak will not cook up to be tender. Be mindful of that. The steaks were cooked on a charcol brick grill. As the name would suggest...Bar-ranch. There will be charing or burnt parts of the steak. Usually, the fat. The seasoning for the meat was perfect. Nothing took away from the flavor of the meat. The seasoning was very light for this reason. The meat had been ages but prepped adequately. The meat tray has sweet grilled baby tomatos on the vine with broccoli and stuffed peppers. It came with a side of grilled brussel sprouts and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The quantity was perfect! We also had a glass of wine each that the owner recommended. After our meal was complete, we were offered desert. We inquired about recommendations and settled on the Cream Brule. This did not disappoint! Served with a strawberry on the side and an orchid bloom allowed a beautiful presentation. The Brule was creamy, and the top crust was not too thick. It was delicate and delicious. There was not a single negative experience. There was the plate mix up after dinner and before the desert, but nothing that involved an issue that was negative. We absolutely loved our experience there and will recommend them to anyone. Thank you all for your concern in making sure we had the ultimate dining experience. I think you will go far.

This place really blew me away. You expect a good steak and a high end steak testurant. Which this place does not disappoint on. But what was crazy was how good the sides were. The fire roastered tomatoes and peppers garnishing the steak were insane, not to mention the fire roasted creamed corn, bussels and truffle infused mash potatoes. The Tatar we has was right up there in top tier and I would argue is one of the most complex and refreshing. Even desert, we got the bread pudding was insane. I have had a lot of great meals in the DFW area. But this was the most complete. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The owner was super friendly and made the night really memorable. Its pricy, we got the wagyu tomahawk steak for 2, which to be fair is the most expensive thing on the menu, but your paying for an unforgettable experience not a quick bit to eat and you truly get what you pay for. Every patron that was seated in this very cozy atmosphere was made to feel like they were a top priority and the service was not worried about turning the table. Be prepared to be delighted by every course, we had the wedge salad with some insanely unique dressing, followed by the Australian Wagyu tomahawk that was cooked and prepared to a perfect med-rare, complemented by mashed potatoes and mushrooms that I could not get enough of, followed by a pecan pie dessert that truly was amazing. They are focused on dry aged meat and if its not your favorite thing then its not your place. Also, if you want to share a plate with someone they charge you $20 for an extra plate (the same amount of food!) And this is not allign with a fine dining experience (it was not on the menu either) The cook of the meat was good, they were some burnt spots tho. They have a really good mashed potatoes. Most of the cuts of the meat was fat and everything was seemed a little overpriced for what it was.

What an incredible experience! My husband and I had the opportunity to dine here recently. The atmosphere at BAR-Ranch is incredibly intimate and romantic. The lighting is warm and the decor is rustic. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine. The owner recommended a blend called Aperture and it paired well with everything we tried. For food, we were served meatballs, crostinis, and Texas style Gnocchi for starters. We then enjoyed wagyu steak with vegetables paired with brussel sprouts and corn. Menu is available online but may be slightly different in person depending on availabilities. I ve been to BAR ranch a couple times and I have to say, it is easily one of the best restaurants in Dallas. They specialize in dry aging, and they re the best around at that process. I tried their 800 day aged burger and it was the best burger I ve had in my life. Downtown Plano is an up-and-coming restaurant scene, and BAR Ranch should be the first stop on any tour of the area. Everything from the warm romantic atmosphere of the restaurant, it has the perfect ambiance. Lane told us how he s used bits and pieces from successful steakhouses around the states and developed his own vision. The result, a custom experience of beef culture fusion focused on serving the most delightful steak. We had the Japanese strip steak, mashed potatoes and charred Brussel sprouts. The steak came accompanied by a bourbon peppercorn cream sauce, and a chimichurri sauce made with grape seed oil that gave it a different, more zesty profile. The steak was beyond reproach. Total melt in your mouth goodness that reveals the level of care only someone who is invested in the success of his own business has. No cocktails, no fancy music, hight heat burners or tactics, just good ole steak cooked on a Santa Maria grill at the perfect temperature. But don t be confused, the appetizers and sides were equally scrumptious in their own category. Been to many steakhouses in the DFW, and Bar Ranch has been the best experience so far. Coolest thing was when Jasmin chased after us because we forgot out Valentine s rose. Great customer service, didn t really care much for the 1.5 hr time limit, but honestly there s no need to be there longer than that. The star of the show is the steak and that s plenty time. Wonderful service, phenomenal food, and amazing atmosphere!! My fiancee surprised me with a birthday dinner here and it was hands down the best meal we ve ever had. The servers were always attentive and went above and beyond to make the experience one of a kind. Wilfredo made us a fantastic crostini and the wagyu beef took us to heaven. Bring anyone and everyone here!!! This place is worth it, the next big thing in Dallas.

After living in downtown Plano for 3+ years, we were always lacking a steakhouse to meet the meaty needs of the locals and visitors. Our party of six came to try this place. We had everything on the menu (except the soup - because August). First, amazing appetizers... wagyu tartare, gnocchi, and wagyu crostini. The table got quiet as we started tasting these crazy-awesome dishes. Next, the salads... caesar, wedge and spring - all fantastic (even the carnivores made room). Then onto the main course: three steaks cooked perfectly over wood fire and then enjoyed family style. The mushrooms, potatoes, broccoli, spicy corn, brussels sprouts, all sides we loved. Then after all that, oh my God - dessert. As a small, locally-run and owned restaurant, this place has killer service as well. Book a table and do the damn thing.

Great experience! We celebrated our 16th anniversary here. From the second we walked in they made it a special experience. There were roses and a nametag at the table and the owner came up to greet us and congratulate us on our anniversary. Every bite of food was interesting and delicious. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. I ve had multiple different offerings from them and I ve been blown away by every dish I ve tried. If you haven t been to bar ranch I highly suggest you set aside an evening and prepare for some of, if not the best, food you ve ever tasted! P.s. The chocolate mousse cake is to die for.

Went to BAR-Ranch for the first time yesterday. We had six total in our party & had an amazing experience. With that large of a party we were able to basically try everything on the menu. The food is incredible - I mean, insanely good. The A4 wagyu boneless rib steak & the Wagyu strip steak were fantastic cuts of beef, were prepared perfectly & melted in your mouth. Every appetizer, every salad, every side (especially the Brussel sprouts & broccoli) the was incredible. The staff - the owner, the wait staff & the support staff were kind & professional. I highly recommend this spot! Its a place we will be returning to.

I cant tell how many times Ive salivated looking at the meat from outside their window. I finally found time to try lunch today: french onion soup, wedge salad, ribeye sliders, and the Chairman burger. I wish I had three other stomachs to try everything on the lunch menu. Everything was yum-mazing! My belly is full, my taste buds are happy, and my soul is satiated. Foodgasm is a real thing. I cant wait to try dinner!

Well I have to say that my lunch today at this new establishment in downtown Plano left me without words. When I review it s typically bad in this case however I can t say enough about the service the food or the amazing chef. He was able to elevate a hamburger to heights I never thought could be met. My wife was also very surprised and pleased. This is hands down the best food we have had here in Plano in years. Intimate seating with no one rushing you out. I tend to eat fast, not here. We will keep coming back I assure you. The product he uses is plainly visible And stunning aged beef like I ve never seen beef presented. On a lighter note he is the only person besides myself who has laguiole knives. He won me over when I saw those steak knives. Thank you my friend for an amazing meal!

This place is truly a hidden gem and quite possibly the best steak house Ive been to! I Absolutely reccomend! Their cuts are top notch, and the starters/sides/desserts are incredible. First time visitor and I have to say, I LOVE a good steak and this topped them all. The staff was amazing and the environment was lovely. It is obvious that hard work has been put into this place to make it run as efficiently as it does. 10/10 recommend for a great night out with friends to enjoy wine and steaks. Will definitely be recommending this place to other colleagues that come in town and will definitely be returning to visit soon.

I came here on Saturday for dinner and had an overall OK time. The service was great but the food wasnt as good as youd expect for the price. I would have given a better rating, however the owner came by and told us hed discount the meal if we left a 5 star review, and I must say that made me feel uncomfortable to be almost bribed, in a sense, to leave a good review for an average experience for a pricey meal.

First time there today for lunch and it was so amazing. The service was spot on and amazing. I can t say enough for the great experience I had! Now for the food I had and will give it a 20 out of 10. It was off the chart amazing. The chef was so nice and we chatted and I told him back in the day I had been to very high class restaurants, this was over and above the food they serviced. I hope to go back for the dinner experience soon. The small restaurant has class beyond what you would think. Nice relaxing music planning. Awesome!

This has been a once month lunch location for myself and friends. Always got treated well by the waitress, chef, and manager. Everytime one the menu is delicious. You always want to close your eyes and savor the flavor. Pricing is reasonable for what you get and the menu is always evolving so there is always something new to try.

Great atmosphere and good food. The wait staff was attentive and there to answer all our questions. Hats off to the Chef! He made the experience that much better. On a side note the Banana Foster it was not what I expected. It looked like a bowl of soup. It definitely did not look like the pictures on the review I looked at before going to the restaurant.
