My wife and I stopped in during a visit to downtown McKinney. This was our first time and we were excited to try something new. Lets start with the good; the atmosphere is really nice and the service was good. The manager made us feel welcome and we were excited about our experience. The Okay - brussel sprouts appetizer was decent and the sugar bacon was as well. Not the best rendition of this dish Ive had but not bad. The bad - A recurring theme in our food was lack of salt & seasoning. Especially on the meat. My wife had the short rib sandwich and there was no flavor to the meat and the only thing she could taste was the mustard. I ordered the ribeye tacos and again, the meat had no flavor. I only ate one of my three tacos because of how bland the overall meal was. In each bite you either tasted the tomato or the queso fresco, not the ribeye. Overall I feel this dish had too many components but if you took them out youd be left with unseasoned bland beef. We wanted to love this place but I dont envision well return.

Ive been here for dinner (amazing) and brunch (disappointing). Highly recommend this as a dinner spot. It is located in historic downtown McKinney so be aware parking can take extra time. For brunch, I had the steak and eggs with coffee. The steak was good, the eggs were cold and the breakfast potatoes were mediocre. The coffee didnt come out very hot but had good flavor.

We were so upset to have the worst experience here last night. We had reserved a large table to celebrate my bridal shower and wish we had never chosen this restaurant. The A/C went out in that section, and although sitting in nearly 90 degrees sucked, it wasn t the worst. What was upsetting was not getting service for 45 minutes and having to ask the manager if he could bring over water and him dismissing us, telling us to just be patient . We get it, but having our aunt clearly going through cancer, an 81 year old grandmother and one 7 month pregnant woman at our table we felt that asking for water wasn t that crazy to ask for. We were there for 3 and a half hours wondering what we had done to deserve being ignored and treated with such disrespect.

We got the pulled pork Benedict, short rib toast, and the BLT with the BEST tater tots! Service was the best I ve had in a while. Request for Trey. He was very attentive, friendly, and had great recommendations. I ll definitely be coming back and asking for Trey!

Food is average, nothing to write home about. The sugar bacon was over cooked, leaving it a little on the burnt side. The atmosphere was calm but the gnats were extremely present even when we moved to a different part of the restaurant and for that the service was excellent for making those accommodations. Service/staff is nice, food needs work

I ve been here a few times before for birthday celebrations and had no issues with anything but this last time I went there on a date with my husband we both had ordered a burger and fries. We had also asked for the meat to be cooked rare since we were in a time crunch to go see a movie. The next day I had an upset stomach and it was the burger that made me feel ill. Not to mention they brought water to our table and it was not cold. We had to ask for ice to make it cold. No telling if they got the water from their tap. Maybe their water made me sick too. The burger was good but definitely not cooked enough which was poor on our part for being rushed to our movie.

First time visiting and the food was better than expected. I had the Ciabattac Breakfast BLT with herbed mayo, sunny side-up egg, hickory smoked bacon, fried green tomato, lemon vinaigrette, and arugula. All the flavours combined for a delicious breakfast. My side was the tots with truffle oil. It was an amazing compliment. And as my severe, Mallory was great. Will definitely come back.

I was so excited when I looked at the menu online. I had high hopes. The atmosphere is really nice. I was really let down by the flavors of the food. I just didnt think the risotto was cooked correctly and just wasnt impressed overall on the meal. My friend didnt like the goat cheese app. The food was just okay and didnt stand out. Its a shame because we really liked our waitress she was checking on us Often and made sure we had drinks. We might come back to try something else. But just felt let down.

My wife and I came here for brunch. We were very excited based on the menu and atmosphere. The food sounded amazing and the atmosphere was very inviting. Our server was amazing. Lets start with the positive. The plating was really good. The food came out and it made you want to dive right in. The deviled eggs were OK. They were lacking salt and pepper and the bacon on tip tasted like bacon bits. They were lacking seasoning. The overwhelming flavor was more of a mustard flavor. The sugar bacon app looked great. The pork belly was fried well. It had a nice crisp and was still moist inside and the peach chutney went really well with it. However, the pork itself had no seasoning on it and was very bland. There was also not enough of the peach chutney to compensate for the lack of seasoning on the pork. They also put the peach chutney on the chicharrons which made them kind of soggy. My adult biscuits and gravy also looked great but was lacking a lot of flavor. The gravy was tasty but it was overwhelmed with pepper flavor. The sausage in it was ground so fine that you would not have even noticed it. The eggs had so salt and pepper and by themselves were very bland. I did like the addition of jalapeño because it added a nice heat but thats about all I enjoyed with that dish. My wife had the short rib omelet. Again it looked really good but had no flavor. It didnt taste like there was much love in it. The eggs and short rib lacked salt and pepper. However, she did enjoy her sangria. Overall, based on our experience, and again everyones flavor profile is different but we did not enjoy the food. It looked beautiful but was lacking flavor.

We have been here before and had a decent time. This time we got there at 2:30, brunch stops at 3, and we should have honestly walked away when I was ignored by multiple staff. It was apparent they didnt want us to stay from then. We were seated, told brunch ended at 3 and lunch/dinner began. We said we knew but the young lady did everything but take our entree order until 2:53, I checked. Our food was just bad. The grits were undercooked, the French toast was doughy inside and the chicken strips were burnt. The only good part of the meal was my espresso martini. Mu issue is if you cant or dont want to serve a meal before the end time say so, dont give subpar service and food. Worst we got home and my husband and I have been in separate restrooms all night. Will not be back.

We arrived a bit off hours 2:30 on Saturday. We were seating immediately, which was great. Once we sat down it was a bit before our server arrived. We were able to order or drinks and appetizers right away but also placed our meal order. The devil eggs came out quickly but had to wait an additional 30 minutes for our food. Again off hours so there weren t many people there. Around 3:10pm pm server comes over to tell us they dropped our plates and re plating them. We should have know better. The food came out cold, we had to always flag down the server to things and over all not a great finish. I m not sure if I would recommend this place.

Maybe we are a little food snobbish but, when you are charging $68 for a filet oscar style, i have a right to be. Empty plates snd checks left at tables all around us (not at all appealing). My daughter s steak had to be sent back due to being undercooked. It came back again rare at best. There are so many options and this one will be a one and done for us. We will stick with our tried and true Kenny s Wood Fired Grill in Addison moving forward. We took a chance and it just didn t measure up to the price. For a $318 tab we expected a lot more.

The food was honestly disappointing. It lacked salt and developed flavors. Appetizers The breading on the fried green tomatoes comes off and is not seasoned. The deviled eggs have way too much egg yolk filling and it literally overpowers the rest of the toppings which werent that good (tomatoes and fried pork skin). The Brussels were decent but for a placed called Sugarbacon, Id rather some sugar bacon than candied walnuts. Entrées My husband ordered the Waygu Ribeye and it was super bland, grilled fine but no seasoning. Instead they serve the steaks with two sauces. For $56 a steak, Id like some salt and pepper at the very least. I ordered the duck and ended up sending it back as it was insanely dry, overcooked and gray. The fat wasnt rendered so it tasted more like chicken gizzard than beautiful duck. I ordered the scallops which were only seared on one side and served in a creamed corn soup. Again, the ratio of scallops to creamed corn was extremely off; no comment on the asparagus and onion salad that was served atop the dish. Overall The menu and the flavor profiles need some work. The menu looks exciting but the execution falls short especially for the price point; Perrys Steakhouse serves exceedingly more flavor on a plate at a similar price point. The ambiance was fine, very chill and the playlist was inviting and energetic for a Saturday afternoon.

We were disappointed in our brunch at Sugarbacon. We went in early on a Sunday and the restaurant was fairly empty. Our appetizer to start was the Sugarbacon and it came out lukewarm. We waited over 45 minutes for our entrees and most of our table did not finish their dishes or bother with asking for a to go box. Our server seemed new but he did a great job checking in and topping off our waters. The restaurant was beautiful but the food was huge disappointment unfortunately.

The staff was amazing! Every time we go the food and service are impeccable but last night it was a different experience. I took friends and family for a celebration and was excited to show them the purple drink but it was missing the smoke, our food took 45 mins to hit the table and our salads had brown, slimy lettuce and my steak was barely edible. I was so disappointed, it s so unlike Sugarbacon to let those quality issues slip by. The fondue appetizer was so good as usual and the three people in our party who got burgers absolutely loved them!

That is the restaurants poor planning and appears continual based on other reviews Ive read.

we went for brunch. The waitress was very helpful and was doing the best that she could, but she seemed to be a bit overwhelmed. The food was just okay. We tried the sugar bacon which I assume is their signature dish and it was okay. It was actually served to us lukewarm and I think we wouldve liked it more if it were hot. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, which surprisingly did not come with any bread so I ordered a biscuit to go with it. The coffee was weak and the biscuit was well made but tasted like it could use a little salt or something. It just felt like something was missing, even when I added butter and a blueberry compote. There was nothing really special about this dish to me, but even the egg white was runny and also there were a few completely charred burnt pieces in the potatoes. My companion ordered the brisket Benedict which was served cold, but they ended up replacing it with a hot order. Overall the food was unremarkable at best and I would not eat here again. Parking: There was a free parking lot across the street and in the back with free street parking as well, but because its in a busy neighborhood, it was still difficult to find a space. There was a sign that said there was additional parking by a church, but Im unsure where that was. You should give yourself time to find parking if you visit during the weekend.

What a great experience! We made reservations at Sugar bacon tonight and ended up being a little bit late, I called them, and they still accommodated us. Upon arriving, we were quickly seated, and Lisa who took care of our dinning experience was very prompt at every turn. . If you re ever in Mckinney on a Saturday night, you know it s crazy, chaotic, and things happen. A huge shout out to the staff and manager that went the extra mile when there were minor hiccups. Definitely has been one of my favorite spots and will remain. Cream corn reminded of a childhood favorite. The goat cheese fondue was unique and I really enjoyed it. We had the chicken pesto pasta .. it was fresh and the chicken was great! ( I hate it when there dry or compressed cardboard tasting chicken). The servings were generous and we ended up so full we had to take leftovers home. For sure a place to visit when we are downtown.

I ll start by saying I m willing to go back and try something else because everyone I was with loved their food. However my meal was a huge disappointment. I got their main signature dish (Short Ribs) and it was terrible. The size was great but you could tell it wasn t cooked long enough and the fat didn t get time to render out. It was tough. I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it, but it didn t matter, the chew was off, and the taste wasn t there. Drinks were great, service was awesome, vibe was chill. But if I m paying that price for your most popular dish, it better be miles above a steak salad or the chicken pasta. I took two bites and left it on the plate.

Main courses were 1. Avocado sourdough toast (had poached egg atop) 2.Proper breakfast plate (two eggs, bacon, biscuit and gravy, Mexican style grilled potatoes 3. Brunch burger with brussel sprouts (AMAZING) 4. Breakfast 6oz filet steak (AMAZINGLY COOKED) with potatoes, eggs and biscuit over they knocked it out of the park!!! I will say this, the biscuits were not buttermilk style and listed a bit cold and not fluffy also the gravy mehhhh Ill pass on it next time but for the price the food and portions were definitely 100% worth the visit. Went there on Sunday for a little Sunday Funday and brunch but I will say it was quite disappointing. We ordered the deviled eggs, the pork Benedict and shrimp and grits. The deviled eggs were 3 out of 10, they had a molasses sauce on top that made them way too sweet and some of the pork cracklings were burn. The pork Benedict was a sandwich, not what you expect, you get this huge biscuit with not enough meat to spread between both pieces of biscuit. The hollandaise sauce was broken as well. The side of potatoes were undercooked and the onions that were in the hash were burned. How you manage that? Im not sure. The shrimp n grits was cold and the shrimp were undercooked, I told the server about it and he with a smirk said oh really, I said yes and proceed to show the undercooked shrimp. He took it back, about 10 minutes later my food comes out, grits were still cold but the shrimp was cooked correctly. The whole food experience was disappointing. The server was fine until his demeanor about my food happen. Not sure if I would come back. Good for mimosas 23 bucks for a whole bottle with 4 juices is not too bad.

We have been here many times and usually everything is fine, but when we got there we ordered for the kids asap as they were hungry and asked for the kids to be served as soon as possible. We also ordered them a appetizer too. An hour and a half later and the food was still not there and our server had not come back. We finally asked if at least the kids food was done and was told it was being cooked right now. It was just being cooked An hour and a half later? A grilled cheese with fruit took that long? Honestly the food came out mostly cold on our party and my sister in laws super expensive avacado toast was soggy and cold that she had to choke it down since we were nervous asking for new food would take another 2 hours. My husbands steak was well done when it should have been medium. It was overall a very expensive mistake to go here today especially when the party that was set next to us An hour in got their food super quick before us.

Arrived for our reservation and sat at our table for over 10mins without being at least acknowledged. Every waiter that past us avoided eye contact , crazy part is it was dead slow for a Friday night so they couldnt even blame it on it being too busy. Another party arrived and was sat and given even water and greeted immediately by their server. My hubby and I got our coats and walked around the corner to Ricks Chophouse which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I took my wife here for our first anniversary. We had been here a few times and love the food. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and the deviled eggs. They were awesome! However, unfortunately there were about a dozen gnats buzzing around our table trying to land on the food. This place is too expensive to have a bug problem. We requested to move to a new table and our server moved us over, no hassle. However the bugs followed. . We had to tab out and get entrees down the road. . Super nice server, super good food, need to fix the bug problem. .

Food was great, when we eventually got it. We waited about an hour and 15 minutes from ordering before our entrees arrived, during which time the waiter checked on us twice, giving us a heads up about the delay 45 minutes in. Id be more forgiving if the place hadnt been half empty. Again, the food was tasty, but not worth the wait. Dont think well return.

Sugar Bacon in the McKinney square has great food. I ve had their classic sugar bacon in the past but for date night we went for $1 oysters. Atmosphere was great. We sat at the bar tables since it was packed and this was the worst experience we have ever had. Our 4 year old had his food and his desert way before we got ours. I mean he was done and we still didn t get our food. I ordered the chicken and my wife ordered an appetizer of the crab cakes and the mashed potatoes. The appetizer of the crab cake should have been delivered way before the dinner entree. The servers assistant(which the server had no idea what is going on as he was also a bartender to a bar literaly with two people at it. Now the servers assistant did give us a discount, Which is nice however we will no longer be coming back.

This was the perfect spot to eat with our large group of 12! They sat us in a back section that was roomy enough for everyone and quiet enough to hear from one end of the table to the other. The food itself was great. We got bacon 2 ways, fried green tomatoes, and gulf oysters for appetizers and all were delicious. On Thursdays, oysters are only $1! It was a steal. I got the herb roasted chicken for my entree and it was so good. The chicken was so tender that it fell off the bone and the cauliflower/shaved brussels sprouts mix paired perfectly with it. We were too stuffed to get dessert but it looked like they had some tasty options. Their brunch is also delish! Can t wait to return!

Went in whilst on holiday in Dallas, fancied dining out somewhere a little out of Dallas. This place is perfect, we had short rib on mash with a side of Mac and cheese, my wife had the short rib burger and grits, both were beautiful, cooked to perfection. The server was great l, being from the uk there was quite a bit we didn t understand on the menu but he patiently explained it all to us. The atmosphere is amazing, happy feel to the place. My wife and I went out for a date night tonight, the pork chop and short rib are the best menu items. Unfortunately our night had gotten weird when we caught a glimpse of the manager smoking a cigarette outside in the front of the restaurant as we left. We blew it off and proceeded to go home when we drove around back the same manager was outside behind a wall, smoking what was obviously a marijuana pen. All I can say is very unprofessional on the behalf of the restaurant.

The wife and I had the Sugarbacon as an appetizer, it was delicious. I was skeptical about the watermelon, but it tied together nicely. I had the filet for my meal, cooked medium. Great cut of meat, cooked perfectly. They give you 2 sauces to dip in, which I don t typically do, but the creamy peppercorn sauce was amazing. Every aspect of our meal was good, including the drinks. We will have to come back again, but I ll probably get the filet again. Highly recommend.

We loved the atmosphere. Unfortunately, that s where it ended for us. The water was served room temp with no ice. We ordered 2, 14oz rib-eye s medium rare and they came out so dry with a slop of very unappealing mashed potatoes on the side. We had a plate of brown and tan, not very appealing to the eye. A little chopped chive or a garnish would have made the plate look more appealing. 277 dollar tab for a meal I could have made better at home. It s very sad because when they sit you down they say, We are known for our steaks!!

This place is phenomenal. I wouldn t give any bad review regards. The Caesar salad was the best I ve ever had from coast to coast. Coming back for brunch and to try the pork chop. Short rib dinner was perfect. Proper Burger s flavors blended well together. Filet was flavorful and seasoned well. Tender and scrumptious. Creamed corn was amazing! Tried the Sugarbacon appetizer, and it was fantastic! Desert is next level. Bread pudding and chocolate cake were tasty. Try it .you re missing out if you re not. In downtown McKinney which is the cutest area around. Great date night or one with family. Ask for Larry who was our server extraordinaire! Treat yourself, Texans! Ok, its a nice environment if a little pricey. However we had the Sugarbacon appetizer and it was little more than the fattest pieces of bacon you can imagine. Neither of us could eat more than a couple bites without feeling our arteries clogging. I ordered the short rib which was, again, a hunk of fat. Wanted to like the place but we had to stop for something sweet on the way home to get the taste and texture of all that fat out of my mouth. Maybe well try it again, just not anytime soon.

The waiter saif another server must have answered the phone. Bottom line it resulted in being told that I shouldnt order food if I am expecting it within 40 minutes. If our future experiences were as great as today, we will be back. Previous experience: Walked in and we werent greeted. Had to ask the bartender if it was self seating due to the lack of a welcome. Once the host arrived they asked if we had a reservation even though there were countless open tables. Currently seated at a table and have been here for 10 minutes without a server coming by. Still sitting here without drinks. If no one speaks to us in the next 5 minutes, we will be walking out. Update. A server spoke to the 2 tables beside us but didnt acknowledge our presence. We walked out. Spoke to the manager before doing so.

Honestly I d like to like this place more. Only thing decent was the people and sugar bacon app. The braised short rib was 1/3 inedible fat and based on the cut I m pretty positive it was a pot roast not short rib. Truly not joking. Hardly any sauce (whole table asked for more) no flavor on potatoes either. The worst sin they committed was charging $30 for 4 half dollar sized scallops and creamed corn. Lastly, cocktail was all ice. 4 sips and it was gone and I had a whole glass of ice. This place wants to be something it s not. If Mgmt reads these, please take this as constructive ways to improve your experience and execution as it does not match your price point.

Once orders were taken they arrived in bits and pieces over the next half hour to 45 min often kin of randomly like we were getting things they hadn t planned on making but were being delivered by mistake. Every time someone delivered something they just dropped off a part of someone s lunch and disappeared to forget we had asked for something else like napkins or water. We won t be back.

First impression was uninviting and unappealing as it is overgrown with weeds. We arrived and the hostess was standing outside. She looked at us and continued to stand there. After about 10 mins she came in and I announced myself as we had a reservation. (There were only 5 other tables) she kept us waiting another 15 mins before she seated us. We were met with a cracked and broken water glass which the waiter only noticed when he went to pour water. Shocking. We ordered starters and they arrived while we still had our menus on the table. I had to ask the waiter to remove them to we could eat. The green tomatoes were ok. The Sugarbacon was cold, tough and chewy. After sitting with empty plates in front of us for 15 mins. I had to ask the waiter to clear. Dinner came and it was nice. We had the short rib. The side of carrots was terrible- I couldn t cut through them. Again I had to ask (the passing hostess) if someone could clear our table. She said your waiter will do it and walked away! If I waiter was doing it I wouldn t have had to ask. If I was the owner I would be annoyed as your staff are letting you down. Service was rubbish!

The scallops were slimy, and then to texture them with cream corn was so gross on so many levels. As long as that offensive side did not contaminate my plate, lol. She went and asked the back, and told me we dont do that here. Wait? What? First time in Tuesday evening. It was not too busy, but the service reflected otherwise. It could have been better. We started with some deviled eggs. They were definitely not Grandmas, and were quite bland. Around the table, we had chicken tenders with fries, the shortrib served atop mashed potatoes, and the ribeye tacos with fries. The tenders were a bit burnt but manageable because the chicken remained juicy and tender. The fries were sadly ordinary. The shortrib plate and the tacos were nothing short of fantastic, though. Both were completely devoured and would be ordered again. I had the tacos, and I loved the explosion of flavor and texture. They were delish. Overall, this was a good experience, and we will be back. Seems like a nice place to kick back and have some adult beverages, too. Maybe thatll be next time.

Wow. Just wow! This was a flavor experience I ll never forget. I am truly so glad we dined here tonight instead of somewhere else. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone. Bring a healthy appetite so you ll have room for the generous portions of every menu item. Don t skip the craft cocktails. They have an award winning Old Fashioned that you can order either classic or smoked. For the smoked one they bring out your glass with everything in it but the bourbon. The bourbon is in a Mason jar containing an ice sphere and literal smoke swirling around before it gets poured into your glass. I don t even like Old Fashioneds but this was incredible. So balanced and smooth and flavorful. I also had the Pinky Promise-bubbly, mellowly sweet but still lively on the palette. But hands down, if you re going to indulge, finish your dinner with the Espresso Martini. I will never forget it and I can totally see myself showing up just for that-drinking it on the patio with a good book. The scallops were perfectly cooked, served atop the best cream corn I ve ever tasted. The short rib was soooo tender, all you needed was a little pull with the fork to get an incredible bite. The Sugarbacon appetizer was a surprising, creative blend of flavors. Topped with a watermelon chutney that brought brightness and subtle complexity to an otherwise heavy meat. The crabcake appetizer was bursting with flavor. We finished with the White Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake. The texture was smooth and soft, more delicate than cheesecake I ve had before and I found it better by far for that and for being perfectly balanced-not too sweet, not too rich, just flawless. I have to say that every single thing I tasted here was an experience, it was not just eating. My highest regards and compliments to the chef and his back-of house team, as well as to the front man who greeted us (also the man responsible for the killer music that was being played) and to our server who was well versed in the menu, ready with suggestions for each course and so accommodating. I can t wait to come back for more of whatever Sugarbacon has cooking.

Service was a little sloppy. Apps out before bar drinks. Bar drinks were very pricey and slow. Steak was super overpriced for the cut and quality ($52). Generally, overpriced and just ok- one time stop, no lasting impression to return for.

My wife, 6 year old, and I walked in at 5:45 without a reservation. We were told 45 minutes for the wait. My wife really wanted to try it. We waited for an hour and then checked back to see how much longer it would be. The hostess proceeded to tell us that she was sorry, she made a mistake, and it would be another 45 minutes to sit. Needless to say we left, at 6:50, without dinner, and with a hungry kid. They saved zero space in their books for walk-ins. We then couldn t get in anywhere else without an hour wait. We won t be back. We won t send our friends.
