Omg the lady at the reception is so so rude she needs to learn about hospitality welcoming or at least smile or she have like a really really BAD DAY SHE WAS MAD .. We absolutely loved this place. The food was really good. My husband had the meatloaf lunch plate with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was really tasty. I had the special for the day which was red snapper sandwich on a brioche bun with their city fries. It was EXCELLENT! Plus the portions are a healthy amount. I ate twice from one meal. I looked around to see what othet people were eating and will definitely be back to try some more plates. Great little restaurant with friendly staff. Also, bathroom was really clean when we came. Thats a big plus for me.

Sat down and the atmosphere was nice. Tables were taken, people are busy, and Im not sure how many people are working but we were waiting for about 6 maybe 7 minuets until we got our drink order in. Once the drinks came we ordered our food. The soups we got were good, but the half sandwich was um.. a little over stuffed? I couldnt even fit it in my mouth, I had to take some of it apart before I could eat it normally. Good food over all though, just expect a little wait if the place seems busy which is understandable, we will definitely be coming back again for more.

I dont come here often just because Im not in the area, but Im never disappointed when stopping by for lunch.one of the friendliest staff Ive experienced in McAllen. The menu has a good variety of choices, and we usually get the same dishes. Try the beef wrap, very good. There was a problem with my plate on this visit, but the waitress quickly fixed the problem. The owner/manager was walking around greeting patrons, some of whom are regulars. The atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant. Service is great. I would definitely return.

I went for dinner yesterday (Friday night) looking for a healthier, lighter menu. I was not disappointed! The Crispy Brussels were a great starter: flavored with sriracha aioli, toasted almonds, and honey. Ive been here before but had not tried the Pesto Grilled Salmon. It is a salmon filet on fresh spinach and grilled veggies with the most amazing pesto sauce! I loved it! My boyfriend was satisfied with the Grilled Chicken Breast served with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables.

Saturday Fun! At City Cafe! One of my favorite spots in RGV. Is casual and cozy. Great selection of food and wine, Steve is always happy to share the day special and pair it with a drink. I had the worst experience ever here, I used to love this place but this place has really gone down. I ordered my food, A simple fettuccine alfredo with grilled chicken. It was cold, my Alfredo was grainy, my chicken was not grilled and was tasteless, it might had just been boiled without spices, the noodles were undercooked, and the thing that really topped it off for me is that all of this was over priced. The website says one thing, the menu says the same thing but they charged me more. I asked about it and they said that the menu and web are wrong . A real bait and switch. Yeah I know thats illegal. I wont be going back and I dont think anybody should. Sadly this was not my first bad experience here just the last straw. Dont waste your money or time here.

I went to City Cafe on a Saturday afternoon. I was promptly greeted and offered a table. My server (Andrew) suggested the chicken fettuccine. He also let me know that it had spinach & mushrooms to be sure I was ok with those ingredients. I have to say that I was very pleased with my order. The amount of sauce was just right, and you could tell it was made from scratch. The chicken was tender and the pasta was perfect. I do have to say here that I would have preffered a flatter noodle, but the portion and taste were great. It was served with a very soft and crusty garlic bread. I almost requested more of that, but I was already overdoing the carbs. The restaurant had a clean and chic diningroom, and there was also seating available outside. From the amount of people dining there, I could tell this is a local favorite spot. I would definitely recommend City Cafe, and Im looking forward to visiting again. They had what looked to be homemade desserts that Ill try on my next visit.

The food is homemade and marinaded for at least a day....the flavors are phenomenal.....the tomato basil soup is too die for!!!!! The city chicken salad on avocado is fabulous!!!!!! I have never experienced a hamburger in this solar system that was so delicious and did not need mayonnaise or ketchup....yep it was that juicy!!!! You will absolutely not be disappointed by the food,,,,,the owners also come around and chit chat with you while you are eating. Making sure that you are happy with your meal choice, and bringing you samples of other entrées so you decide for your next visit. Beside the terrific food,.I appreciate the owners, remembering everyone that comes in....they remember and call you by name when you return!!!!! This place is a local favorite. The menu is small, yet varied, and the food is fresh and well-prepared. On my most recent visit, I chose the Thai Chicken Curry with veggies only and no rice. The food and service were pretty good. The new owner came over to us and told us about her plans and a little bit of history of the resturant. Its a great place to have lunch meeting and its centrally located in mcallen. (at least for me).

I love going to city cafe for the stuffed avocado. However on this particular visit I was disappointed that they stuff avocado was smaller than other times. The food was delicious regardless and the staff is always friendly.

Ive been eating here for almost 10 yrs. The food, service and atmosphere is amazing. Stephen the owner greets every guest personally and makes you feel at home every time. Chicken Parm is the way to go!!!

Grab the menu and point anywhere and you will have a great meal. Plus there daily lunch/dinner specials are a good change up from the already full menu. Love the look of the place as well, the waitstaff and cooks always do a great job. Either out for a date night or lunch/brunch you will have a great time.
