From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the boss/head chef and he was super kind and friendly. Surprisingly he is the one that took my order and brought my food to me. Let me tell you, from the customer service to the quality of food everything was spectacular. The food is a little pricey but you can tell it s high quality and DELICIOUS every bite is an explosion of flavor. If you re tired of Texmex in the valley, you MUST come eat here.

Service needs improvement, food is good. They recently change their fries to the skinny version and I have to say that for such an expense plate it was a serious disappointment. I also do think the place is overly priced. I m not sure if the service or size of plate are a good justifier on the dollar amount.

But the dessert platter with coffee was Out of this world! Yasir(I hope I spelled your name right) was an excellent waiter/host. He made our visit there a memorable one. Will go back again.

From the moment we walked in, you could feel the friendly, relaxing atmosphere. The service was exceptional! Friendly staff and the head chef were extremely friendly, doing table touches and all. The food is excellent! The flavors are unforgettable, from the surprisingly refreshing salad to the well seasoned chicken and rice to the crispy, subtlety sweet baklava, you will be 100% satisfied with the food. The hot tea was beautifully presented and the tea blend was flowery and pleaseantly aromatic. The flaffel appetizer was crispy and paid splendidly with the sauce, all the sauce were perfect. Naan was warm, soft, and a little crispy, perfect! The decor and music are extremely relaxing. You cant go wrong visiting. If you love flavorful food you need to come!

I love Mediterranean food and was surprised to find this gem in the Rio Grande Valley, McAllen specifically. Ive travelled all over the United States and have had Mediterranean food in many locations, from food trucks, to the traditional buffets and high end restaurants. Fares has to be in my top 3! The food is fantastically delicious. Every order is cooked to order so the food is fresh off the grill. Which means you wait a little longer, but you cant rush perfection. The grape leaves are to die for! They are so delicious and are served warm. This is truly a family run restaurant and mom makes the deserts and the Baklava is certainly one of the best Ive ever had. I could go on about each item Ive tried, but just know that this food is excellent and worth the wait. This is what a mom and pop restaurant should be like. Personal touch and a lot of love in the food.

Unjustifiably expensive prices. I ve grown up around Middle Eastern food for the better part of my teenage and adult life. Absolutely nothing justifies the costs being charged for what s on offer, often for food that is stale (grape leaves, I m looking at you). Average grade food at prices approaching $30 for a single shawarma (Gasp, this is virtually twice the price of a large shawarma from the infamous Café Helen in central London) and $20 for hummus (essentially chickpeas, tahini and lemon juice!) including tax. Heck, even the so called Fares Fries are exorbitantly priced at over $11 for a small plate. Now the restaurant may justify all of the above by stating their use of the highest quality ingredients and rising supply chain costs being borne by a family run setup, but unless they re using Le Bonnotte potatoes from France for their fries, I m not quite convinced. This is a standalone restaurant in McAllen, not Miami. This is Fares, not Nusr-Et. Despite rising prices for most items globally, we still have some of the most cost effective rental, labour and supply charges in the country here. Please ground yourselves like the Za atar you use and come back down to Earth to more realistic prices. Share the beauty of the Middle Eastern culture with more people in the Valley rather than excluding them by providing mediocre food at prices only the very few can afford.

Food is ridiculously overpriced. Have yet to find a affordable with good food Mediterranean/Greek restaurant in the valley. 21 dollars for falafel is insane, which is considered a appetizer. Other ethic restaurants in the valley do not have this pricing and there is no justification. Will have to stick to my trips out of the area for my fix. Only for rich people. Avoid if you dont want to go broke just ordering a appetizer.

Amazing Arabic/Halal food. We were visiting McAllen during a weekend and saw this restaurant that had good reviews on Google, so we decided to give it a try. Since we just had breakfast, ordered the food to go. Overall, the experience was really good, the staff is very friendly and happy to help you decide what to order so you can get the most out of it. We got hummus, baba ghannouj, muhammara, yalanji, curry chicken (which came with a delicious Jazmine rice), manooush zaatar, tabbouleh and some extra pita bread to eat during the next days, every single item was extremely good. Also while we were waiting for our order to come, we got some coffee which had a very interesting flavor, it was strong, a bit spicy (probably it contains some cloves) and warm, enjoyed it a lot. Im glad that they also offer vegetarian and vegan options. Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian and vegan items on the menu, such as tabbouleh, pita bread, falafel, hummus, etc...

I had always wanted to try Arabic food, but never had the chance until yesterday. It was my first time eating here and I have to say that the food was delicious, a bit expensive, but definitely worth the price. This was also the first time I tried baklava and I have to say it was so good. This is a place I would definitely consider visiting again in the future.

I will start by saying that the prices are very high, some dishes were good but not that good for the price, specially for the portion size. The Kofta Kebab was just okay, mine was a little dry not as juicy and tasty as I had in other places, definitely not worth $26+. The Lamb Shawarma was good, the meat was tasty and the fries and salad made it more delicious. The Falafels were just okay, the Muhammara was really good. Overall the place looks nice inside, the service was so so & prices are very high.

First time here. Got the 27 dollar sandwich. Just wanted to try something new as Im a foodie. For the price of the sandwich I thought it was going to be amazing. The chicken was cold... Not sure if it was supposed to be or not. But the chicken just was not good sadly. There wasnt enough sauce in the sandwich. Ive tried Arabic food once before and it was everything and more. Unfortunately I wont be back.

Fares is a family-owned business. Its a local Arabic Restaurant. I dine here occasionally ( mostly takeout). The atmosphere is lively, with an open kitchen concept. I could just come here to eat the hummus and their homemade pita bread. The cucumber mint lemonade is delicious. The flavors are well-balanced. The Kofta Kebab is tasty. The Fattoush salad is so crisp and refreshing. I enjoy beetroot salad, its fresh and flavorsome. But by far my favorite is their Pistachio Cake; I LOVE IT! Mmmmm (mouthwatering) the Blakava and other sweets are delectable too. I recommend Fares Arabic Cuisine!

4/8/23 5:45pm- Ive always been curious about this place and was not disappointed. We had 2 cucumber lemonades, falafel sandwich, lamb shawarma sandwich, manoush jibneh, and a slice of pistachio cake to go. Total with tax $83.22. If youre on a budget yes skip but if youre like us wanting to try new things then stop by.

This was the best falafel Ive had in a long time. The homemade hummus was also very good. The cost of the menu items was very expensive in my opinion, so unfortunately its not a place I can eat often, but I would definitely go again.

Always a favorite of ours! They did not disappoint on our most recent visit. The food was delicious as ever. The service as friendly and lively as we remembered. The menus have been updated since our last visit. The offerings were paired down a bit, however, all the favorites remained. All in all, when looking for flavorful food, on the healthier spectrum, and friendly service, give this place a try!

I had the falafel sandwich and pita with muhammara. The food was excellent! The only issue was that the food didn t come out together so I had to wait a bit for my brother s and dad s food to come out. Other than that, everything was great; the server was very friendly and the ambiance was pleasant. Will definitely be coming back after Lent to try the meat dishes!

Definitely recommend Baklawa with coffee. The palmyra chicken was great, perfect combination of a crusty outside and seasoning as well as tenderness on the inside. Definitely going to come back. The customer attention was great and everyone was very friendly.

Unbelievable waitress who explained the menu, the food, and patiently answered our many questions. Food was the best. Can not say enough about the service. A bit pricey, but to us it was ok considering the enjoyment of the evening and the experience of something new and different. Highly recommend for an enjoyable meal.

Really appreciate the food and great service! A+, excellent waiter and very tasty chicken and hummus. Our server is usually Mohamed and his level of service and kindness is one of the reasons we like to return frequently. The hummus is excellent, the pitas are fresh and hot, the oils they use are wonderful, and the shawarma is also very good, they can customize it for you a little and we added some sort of feta crumble cheese and garlic which went great.

This is well priced restaurant In my opinion it is worth every single penny Not easy to find in the US an authentic food like Fares unless you travel overseas My opinion based that I tried the vegetarian plates only (no meat) The hummus, the eggplant, the spinach pies were authentic 100/100 The tabouli is very fresh seemed like hourly made ,it last long in the refrigerator , at overseas they put more cracked wheat , more tiny cut tomatoes and more lemon reason why taste more juicy but in this case it must be eaten immediately beforethe parsley change color and will sag the fattouch salad is great I like to add more lemon olive oil and little pomegranate molasses just before I eat it
