Way over priced. Chicken was pretty good. Sides were small and terrible. Not as described. Cajun creamed corn not creamy. Brussel sprouts just shaved, not roasted. Fries soggy. Beer substandard and very limited selection. Terrible atmosphere and really really loud.

Dirks has been a real favorite of ours since opening. Cameron and his team are generally great. However, we tried going yesterday (Sunday, Sept 29) at 1:30, and we were turned away. The hostess told us they were closed. Their sign says they close at 2pm, but this was 1:30. The restaurant was packed, probably because of the family weekend. Apparently, they didnt want more customers on this day. My assumption is that the staff didnt want to have to work a minute past 2pm. So, why have a sign that says open until 2pm, if youre not going to take care of customers up until 2pm?? This seems very unprofessional and we were so disappointed because it doesnt match up with their service history.

Best chicken in town, hands down! Atmosphere is nothing to brag about but I m there to eat not to look around. Not a big fan of the Dirk Sauce, but the okra, fries, mash potatoes, or collards are all wins. I will continue to go here when I am craving some fried chicken. Dirks for the win!!!

I ve been here several times and lately only when it s very busy. The food is phenomenal when they aren t packed busy. 50/50 when they are. Atmosphere is great but very very loud. Aside from that, there are some things they need to fix. 1) Sometimes they say they don t take reservations, sometimes they do, sometimes only under special circumstances, it seems to just depend on who you talk to or who you are. For the love of God, get all your staff on the same page with reservations. I called in the early afternoon to try and get a reservation and was told they don t take reservations. I show up to stand in line for a table and I m asked if I m part of the 40-person reservation. Then half the restaurant fills up with those 40 people and there are no tables left. Not cool 2) My friend got served bloody chicken, didn t eat it and they refused to take it off the ticket. They had a small baby and couldn t wait another hour to have it remade (on account of the table of 40 people all ordering at the same time and slowing down the kitchen) the rest of us had no issues other than some slightly burnt Nashville chicken which we ate anyways because it is still great. 3) They automatically add 18% gratuity? We had a table of 7 .not 20 . Cmon 4) if they lowered the price of the cocktails they would sell more of them and people would be more inclined to order them. $14 for a small cocktail is ridiculous 5) they used to have appetizers but seem to no longer have any. They have oysters but when we tried to order them they said there was an issue with their delivery and they didn t feel comfortable serving the ones they had, which I understand. But appetizers and affordable cocktails keeps people in your restaurant longer and you sell more..

I got the combo with the chicken fried steak and the chicken tenders. The tenders were great but the chicken fried steak was super mid. I also got the mashed potatoes with gravy as a side and they were not good. Tasted kinda watery and I didn t even want to finish them (rarely would I say potatoes aren t worth finishing). The fried okra was good. My husband got the Korean fried chicken and it was good but you can get good Korean fried chicken that tastes better and is a lot less expensive at the Wolfforth farmers market! All in all it was a good place just pretty over priced ($16 plates for some good some not great food I wouldn t think is great). The service was great though and the people are really kind.

New to Lubbock and decided to experience Dirk s. You can feel the genuine customer service as you walk in Warm/Friendly/Hospitable. Our server Tara met us with a smile and we got served a twangy Arnold Palmer different yet refreshing. I ordered the Korean Chicken with Jasmine Rice and Creamed Potatoes with Jalapeños Bacon Flavor Gravy. Meal Presentation: Perfect Portion Size: 1/2 of a Chicken aka Must come with an Appetite Taste: Yummy BUT the seasoning/flavor was on the outside. I would recommend it being served with a Korean Sauce (standard) so the flavor stay all the way to the bone Restroom - Female: Very modern and chic and clean. The Sink were as cute as they were functional Parking Lot: As you enter the lot you can smell the chicken cooking and you can start imagining what you are going to eat as the aroma tickles your tastebuds. None the less the parking lot is tight (based on the size of your vehicle) and if you had to park along the perimeter your vehicle s tail would be in the bushes Overall great experience/great price ($50.00/ 2 Persons/ No Alcohol)great ambience/super friendly customer service Parking: Parking Lot: As you enter the lot you can smell the chicken cooking and you can start imagining what you are going to eat as the aroma tickles your tastebuds. Pretty small place and very loud. Maybe its just the acoustics of the room but even when only about 1/3 full it was very loud. We had chicken fingers and the Chicken Andoulle gumbo. Gumbo wasnt very good. Chicken fingers and fries were very good and was a large portion. Menu was kind of limited, not a lot of variety. Was more like bar food, which Im sure is what they were going for. Would give 5 stars on food if not for the gumbo. Overall we liked it. Would like a slightly larger menu though. We would go back again, but would definitely have everyone check the menu beforehand and make sure they could find something they liked.

Dirk s may very well be the best food in the 806. The service was phenomenal (Mason served us). The atmosphere was great with good music and lively people. But the food my God the food was 1 of 1. The chicken was brined and fried to PERFECTION. The greens were balanced and amazing. And those might just be the best mashed potatoes I ve ever had. Speaking as a BIG BOY from Southwest Georgia, Dirk s is real - homestyle southern soul food. Can t wait to have it again. It s easily a 9/10. The ONLY take away I have is PLEASE ADD MAC N CHEESE. Food looks good. Thats about it. Salty is the only way I can describe it. Got the Korean fried chicken. Soggy and over salted fries, the chicken was alright, once you got through the over salted exterior. Served with dry rice. For 16 bucks? Yeah nah. Was just passing through Lubbock, dont wanna come back after that. Server was great tho, she was attentive and refilled our waters constantly! Edit: Buddy of mine who lives in Lubbock suggested that we arrived on a bad day, and agreed that the food was not good. Maybe its usually good, but when we went, it was practically inedible

We arrived around 4:30 pm and there were not very many customers. Immediately, we were greeted by our server, Jordan, so we got a shiner bock and a glass of water while we waited for our entrees. Our decision to choose the bone-in fried chicken with the gumbo and fried zucchini as the sides was a great choice. We also ordered the Nashville hot chicken and the kids chicken fried steak strips. Everything was fried amazingly. All of the meats were tender and fried to a good crisp with the right amount of seasoning. The mashed potatoes with jalapeño bacon gravy were delicious However, the music was too loud, and the establishment was cold inside. Every time the furnace kicked on, the unit was loud and noisy, so I felt like it was too much going on. Parking: You can either park in the street or in the designated parking lot.

We had lunch with a customer here around noon on 12/20. We were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. The place is very creatively decorated with lots of cartoon art. The staff were kind and helpful. We all ordered the combination platter and chose different sides. I had the mashed potatoes with jalapeño bacon gravy and collard greens. The potatoes were smooth and buttery, and the gravy was outstanding. The collard greens were perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned. The chicken tenders and steak strips were both battered expertly with great flavor and cooked to perfection. Both were juicy and fork tender, and a knife was not necessary. I had the Korean and Nashville sauces to complement my meal. Both were delicious, but not necessary since the meat was so delightful without a sauce! Overall, we enjoyed a delicious meal and had a good time. Fair warning though: it was busy and quite loud during our lunch, so if you are hearing impaired and looking for a place to have a nice conversation over your meal, you might find yourself shouting at each other if you choose to eat here.

Portions are good but not huge. The food has their own signature taste and is well worth the extra few dollars over fast food. Not a burger place, but imagine Blue Sky with wait staff. Expect about $15 - $17 per person. A few meals are easily split for lighter appetites. Chicken strips are great and so are the steak fingers if they are tender. Best gravy in town. Im trying the grits and shrimp next time. Only open Wednesday-Sunday.

It is hard for me to describe exactly what was different about them. They had a nice little spicy kick which was a surprise. But I could not figure out what sort of cheese was used. There was a lot going on for just cheese grits. I had the combo platter and cant say that I have had better chicken tenders. I think Ill try the spicy chicken next time.

Great chicken fingers, shockingly spicy Nashville sauce, super crispy no matter what you get. I enjoy the Dirk original artwork that decorates this place, including many renditions of raider Red who was designed by Dirk. Downsides: the martini I got was good and generous, but more of a Vespa than a martini. The portions are insanely large. That doesnt seem like a negative, but plan to split what you get on many plates. Inside is loud, so dont expect romantic quiet or anything. This is more of a rowdy sports bar vibe By the time we left at 7:00 there was a long line out the door. Honestly the chicken here is unbelievable.

Very cool place. Houses tons of Dirk Wests drawings and has a very nice Red Raider vibe inside. Met up with family here, otherwise probably would not have known about this place. I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken with green beans and steamed rice. The chicken was tasty but too spicy for me. I was sad about the greenbeans, they had this potential to be amazing but had wayyy too much salt. My hubby had the shrimp and grits with fried okra. He could not eat his, it was too spicy for him. He did love the okra. It is very well executed with the crusty cornmeal exterior. I stole one off his plate and can verify, they were tasty! My BIL had the regular fried chicken and he said its the best hes had! His GF had the Nashville chicken and it was too hot for her to finish but she said it was good, despite that. All in all, if your tolerance for spicy foods is weak, dont try anything spicy here. Lol Im sticking to what I know next time... regular chicken and chicken tenders. Oh and last but certainly not least, our server was amazing. I think her name was Lindsey? Im not good with names but I do remember the great service!

The wife and I really enjoyed the food from Dirks. I had the Nashville hot chicken. It was hot-juicy and delicious. The fries had great seasoning. The wife had the rotisserie chicken. It was also seasoned well and very juicy. The prices were not bad considering the portions. We will definitely return for this delicious chicken spot!

My husband loved loved his Nashville Hot chicken with mashed potatoes and their amazing jalapeños bacon gravy. I had the gluten free chicken strips. They were covered in WAYYY too much salt (& honestly im not normally a person sensitive to this) I saw a dusting of white on them when my plate was brought but honestly thought it was a seasoning or batter or something. But it was SALT. I brushed and brushed it off each strip. The actual taste was fine but I didnt care for it overall. The fries were yummy.

The food was great and the specialty drinks were good. Service was a little slow but I think they were overrun with Turnpike concert people they did not expect. However the staff were very nice and apologetic so we did not feel overlooked. We will be back.

There s plenty of parking. The night we went, it was packed and we had a wait. There s a bar where you can have a drink or even eat there. We took a table. Mary was our server and she was super nice and efficient. I ordered fried chicken dinner with fried okra and cheesy grits. The okra was delicious and they make their own Ranch dressing. The cheesy grits were good but not cheesy. I love cheesy grits and that bbq in Wolfforth has the best. My chicken had a great crispy tasty breading but it was overcooked - dry mealy texture. My friend had the KFC chicken with cheesy grits. He loved it but thought it was too spicy hot. I would have loved it I think. The portions were great. It s a bit noisy inside. I m going back. Everything I saw on other plates made me want more.

Home run!!!! The fresh oysters were a fine surprise with my bloody Mary. For 15$ main come hungry as you get 2 dark and 2 white pieces of fried chicken in your desired sauce. We devoured the Korean and Nashville style. The heat was perfectly spiced with a kick also in the side: brussel sprouts and creamed corn. We will definitely come back!!!!

First time trying Dirks. Service was okay, but slow delivery of meals.. Korean chicken was too spicy for my daughters taste, but she liked the fries. The Chicken Fried Steak, which was actually steak fingers that would have to have been cooked longer to even be considered rivals for Dairy Queens steak fingers. The fried okra was slimy inside = not cooked long enough. No bread served with meals, drinks are canned, atmosphere is LOud. If wed known okra wasnt cut up we would have ordered something else. At $15.00 per plate we expected much better food; and bread with the meal and drinks that werent canned. We wont be recommending Dirks or going back.

We were visiting from out of town and my cousin recommended this place to us and Im glad she did. The chicken strips were fabulous. The dirks signature sauce was so so good along with them. The side we got with some mashed potatoes and gravy and again the gravy was the next level. We had two of their specialty drinks and again they were great. Next time were in town I guarantee you we will be back and I would recommend you check it out.

Food is good and not bad but definitely pricey at $15 a plate with smallish/average size portions. Very loud environment with very little to help with sound deadening which could be improved on. If your sensitive to loud sounds definitely go elsewhere even for someone with a sound sensitivity. If that could be improved along with becoming a better value. Then restaurant would be worth recommending.

Love this place- every dish is on point- and the beer is locally brewed. You can t go wrong. I will say- it s very loud in there when packed and hard to have a conversation with people at your table. Needs acoustic panels or something to deaden the acoustics. Kid-friendliness: Small kids menu available- but chicken tenders are easy to adults or kids

Dirks serves the best gluten free chicken tenders and steak fingers Ive had in 6 years of eating a strictly gluten free diet. There were several sides including creamed corn, green beans, and brussel sprouts to choose from. I was not disappointed to miss out on French fries. Will definitely be back the next time Im close.

Wow. I didnt realize how delicious a Rotisserie chicken could be. The sides were delicious as well. The Jalapeno mashed potatoes were creamy and warm. The shaved brussel sprouts were bright and crispy. My margarita was perfection. The service was great and food arrived fast. The manager, Cousin, politely introduced himself and was genuinely passionate about the restaurant. My husband also enjoyed his hot fries chicken and our daughter enjoyed her chicken strips as well. Wish we had a Dirks in San Antonio

Emma, our waitress was great! The food is GOOD!! I would have given five stars, but the chicken was way too salty and thats coming from a saltaholic!! The only other deterrent to 5 stars is the place needs acoustics in a bad way.... we are practically yelling at each other at the table to hear our conversation, lol.

I made a pick up order. No one acknowledged me. They just stared as I waited for someone to ask me what I needed. The food was mediocre. I ve had real maque choux and this was far from it, tasted like watery bland corn. The fried chicken was okay, needed more seasonings. The french fries were over seasoned. Personally, I wasn t impressed.

Once again a review for some of my familys favorite food in Lubbock. The best steak fingers (Chicken Fried Steak on the menu) Ive ever had, and fantastic sides to boot. Always enjoy perusing Dirks artwork! 4 stars rather than 5 because of the noise, its next to impossible to visit in a normal voice.
