I retained Attorney Ruby Powers last year for my husband who was denied his U.S. Passport because he was born by a midwife in South Texas. My wife started the citizenship process while we were living in Vietnam. Contacted Ruby and she went over everything we would need to do. When it looked like we may have an overstayed travel problem, she helped us get a travel document to fix that problem. I had the Powers Law Group submit an I-130 for my husband and all can say the packet was poorly done to the extent USCIS sent notice of Intent to Revoke because the proof of a bonfide marriage wasnt not sufficient. I paid the firm a lot of money only having to have the work rejected by USCIS. My advice is seek another lawyer who does the work themselves if you are paying top dollar and doesnt have a high turnover rate. Otherwise, you are wasting a lot of time and experiencing a lot of heartache because you placed your future in the hand of someone who only care is taking your money instead of executing quality work.

I started my case with a different lawyer and was very disappointed heard about Ms. Powers. When I met her she was very helpful I moved my case with her right away. They do everything mostly on line which is great that way you have all your papers on file. Today I went for my biometrics appt and they asked me for my marriage license. For years Ive dealt with Ruby, and I just keep coming back for renewals. With a great team and outstanding communication to keep you up to date on your immigration case. I recently renewed my Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and I have to say I was approved in less than two months! Ruby seems to be a very nice person however, I would not recommend this attorney due to a poorly handling of a case, despite my request to ask for a continuance Miss Powers showed to an appointment unprepared due to maternity leave, also after all fees were paid she held an application with impending deadlines asking for more money, she insisted to held the package and mail it herself despite my request for a last review, later I found the application was filed with the incorrect alien number. She was terminated, still she never provided the requested clients file. Aditionaly to the poor performance in the preparation and the huge mistake about the wrong Alien Number, no respecting the contract makes her unreliable.

I have never been treated so well by a law firm, most importantly is the knowledge of the immigration system, and the results my wife has obtained due to Ruby, Isela, Angie, and the other members. There is a team effort at this firm that produced my wife to obtain a green card status. This is a difficult thing to obtain, and that my wife and I had been experiencing with 2 prior lawyers had no results and very little progress until we met with Ruby. If any other lawyer has told you that you have to leave or that you cant do it, PLEASE do yourself a favor and get a second opinion with Ms. Powers. She helped us out a lot. They are always a phone call or an email away when we had any questions. We have worked with her for Resident process and Deferred Action and everything was really easy. I approached Ruby Power office due to the great reviews and she meet all our expectations. My husband and I had a sour experience with the previous attorney that just had our family in disbelief anything could be fixed. ( adjustment of statues due to standing deportation/ with now a successful green card !) I always received a call back when left a message and if I would email Ruby or her staff any questions or comments were responded very promptly. I want to thank the Law Office Of Ruby L. Powers for the great job they did on my case, if it wasnt for her, right now I wouldnt be considered a US Resident. She knows the Law pretty well, shes very professional, kind and on top of her work. Her staff are kind, professional, and also on top of their work. I would recommend her to anyone, she will tell you the truth and what you can do about your case. She gave me an estimate time of when I would be receiving my green card and it all came out as she said. I went to so many lawyers and wasted money and time for so many years to hear the same thing, that I could fix but that I was going to be asked to leave the country once I went for the interview with immigration while mean time immigration made the decision ( of course I wasnt going to do that, Ive been here in the US since I was about 3 or 4 years old and have my own family with two children. I cant live without my family.) The thing is in the past I had applied for TPS and I would renew it every year, but the last time I applied I thought I wasnt approved because I never received the approval letter. Then years went by and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals appear so I applied for that and well it was denied for the reason of TPS. So I looked up Law Office of Ruby L. Powers and made my appointment, I went there and I explained my situation and I gave her all my paper work of records, well it turned out that she told me that I never needed to apply to any of this, that I could actually apply for the Green card without being asked to leave the country. That I had all my proof, and I told her that for many years I went to a lot of lawyers and I told her what they would tell me. She shaked her head and she actually told me she was sorry I had to go through all of that and for the wrong information that was given to me by other law firms. We went to the Law Office Of Ruby Powers for help with our 601 waiver which has previously been denied (by a different lawyer/ he was pretty high on the google list, we basically wasted money on what we could have done ourselves). Ruby and her team did an awesome job and was able to get our waiver reopened and approved. What makes them so unique. She was compassionate to our plight. I went to Ruby Powers because I needed her help in a complex Naturalization case involving a disability waiver for the exams. Like everyone new to this process, I was nervous and did not know what to expect. After meeting with Ruby and explaining the case, she offered her professional advice with confidence and empathy. WOW! Amazing service and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We applied for a permanent residence status and had it approved in less than 1 year! Everyone was so patient and understanding with our constant questions about what to do and how to do it. Attorney Angie came to our formal interview and we had no issues at all! All I can say is WOW! Love the entire office. My case has been dropped because they did everything they could and went beyond my expectations :) We had a very difficult case and they were able to get my case dismissed. Now we have to apply for my green card and yes we could do it ourself to save money but we dont mind spending the extra money to get it done right. We went through 2 different lawyers before finding Ruby and let me tell you that you get what you pay for. I recommend her office to all my foreign friends and to you as well. They are worth every penny and every second of my time. I see some other reviews about a delay and taking to long but that is not the lawyers fault. The immigration in houston is overwhelmed and pushes everything further out. My case kept being pushed further out as well. And that was to blame on the immigration courts in Houston. Trust me when i say Ruby Powers is the best you can go with!!

We had a simple case of a Canadian man (me) moving to the US, marrying a US citizen (my wife). We needed help on getting the right papers done to get a green card; starting our little family here, we wanted to do things right you know? .... little did we know... I am not used to dealing with this much poor service to be honest. The two attorneys (partners) are knowledgeable, but offer absolutely no support nor do any effort to keep you informed. From where I come from, professionals have diplomas and offer worthy customer service. Not here. Youll be dealing with their legal assistants and the receptionist. They got to work very late every time I had appointments with them; waiting on the couch for hours. They provided very slow work and were not proficient in getting the right information from us in order to expedite the process. This whole process was a headache and we were kept into total ignorance even though we did all we could to stay in touch with them. To be fair, we got all our papers and the process is done. We have had problems and delays, for a simple case. Total process time: 4 months. Others done it themselves in 2 months. Theyll tell you and explain to you for hours how it is not their fault. Truth is: they never show a sign of responsibility. THAT is NOT what we call professionalism. All in all: prepare to take matters in your own hands, becoming more knowledgeable than their legal assistants, for a period of 4 months. Prepare questioning yourself about whether or not you should have kept your 5000$ and done the job yourself, as it was as much effort keeping up with them as it would have been to do the work yourself. Me and my wife have personally done those papers for relatives by ourselves in the past. We had no problems. No work ethics, no follow-ups, no professionalism, impolite customer service, irresponsibility ...and a green card; thats what we got. We have been recommended this Law firm by former customer (friends) and they told us that Ruby Powers Law Firm was the best of the worst... in other words: all the immigration attorneys were worst than what I just described. Ruby Powers is fantastic! She was with us every step of the way as my husband got his green card. Her staff were friendly and helpful in answering my many questions and concerns. Kyle and I were confident and ready for our interview which lasted a whole 10 min! Very few questions needed Ruby had all of our paper work organized and ready to go! First let us start off by sending an ENORMOUS thanks to this team!!! Today our family received the best news we could have ever asked for. My husbands status change and waiver were both approved and he will be receiving his green card soon. With no fault on their end, he has been wanting and waiting for this moment for a very long time. Had it not been for Ruby and her extremely helpful, communicative, patient, steadfast, hard working team, I dont know if this would have been possible. My husband came to this country legally on a school visa but do to circumstances beyond his control, he was not able to go. Therefore, he did not get the change of status approval and was denied. He continued to have meetings with Immigration to find out what the next step would be and he keep getting the same answer....You will receive a letter which never came. So much time passed and it seemed bleak. We kept trying to get an answer. Its very disconcerting not knowing if at any minute you could be sent away from your family and the life youve had for so long. When all you want to do is work, be a provider, and have a life with your family without always having to look over your shoulder. We did a lot of research for a new attorney. When we found Ruby she was in Dubai and did a conference consultation with us over Skype. She listened very closely and gave us all the possible outcomes and options. She was very honest and patient with us. Once we made the decision to hire her they took on the case right away and worked VERY diligently. We did have to wait for some time to file, again not on their part, but once the case was submitted to Immigration everything was really quick. Give or take three months he received his work permit and a week later we had our interview, which was today. We were extremely nervous. Angie, the other attorney at the firm, met us there before the interview. We had also two prep meetings at the firm with her the week before. She told us what all we needed to bring and what to expect. We made sure we brought everything and more that she asked to be fully prepared. While in the waiting area, she made us feel at ease. She has a very calm, confident and pleasant demeanor. In the interview as well. She was right on point with everything. Our agent, who was surprisingly nice and friendly, gave us our approval there in the office! We were overjoyed to say the least! Angie seemed to be just as happy as we were! We first heard about Ruby through the internet. I was looking for a good lawyer to handle my I-601 waiver and her reviews were excellent . My waiver was for misrepresentation , which is usually a difficult one. Basically i have almost lost hope till i met Ruby. She went beyond everything i have ever expected from a lawyer. The first time we talked to Ruby was through Skype , she gave us more than the time that we supposed to have in our consultation. She listened very carefully to everything and i guess she also felt how miserable we were. Ruby gave us the hope and she assured us that anything is possible and the waiver can be approved. Ruby was very very proficient , she knows everything in the immigration process . She is extremely diligent and meticulous in her work. She did an excellent job in assembling our waiver in a one month period that we had. She followed with us regularly, answered all our questions and responded to every single email we have sent to her. I cant remember anytime that Ruby didnt get back to me at all as other lawyers would do. She is very knowledgeable in her field. She masters everything perfectly. Ruby is also a truly genuine person. her fees are very reasonable compared to other lawyers . after we have sent the waiver Ruby told me to expect an answer for the waiver within 3 to 6 months , maybe less maybe more.. They approved our waiver after 47 days exactly , and received my green card in the mail one week later. Isela , Rubys assistant is very nice and she does her job perfectly. Ruby was a gem! (Pun intended) A very knowledgeable attorney and very friendly. She was very punctual and on time for all of our calls/meetings. Another great feature, she does a lot of her work via phone/skype or video/skype or just plain ol phone calls! She was very helpful and also something you dont see in attorneys, honest!
