A marketing idea that is not being properly funded by the government and is in a state of total disrepair. Sites permanently closed, trails only marked for the first half mile then no markings massive damage to the trails from erosion ... a sad sight and an embarassment when you see signs indicating that the sites are the responsibility of the fish and wildlife service. I have visited parks all over the world and have seen better nature areas in India. Indonesia Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, Belize etc. It made me sad!

Lots of trails for walking, many seem to be used by mountain bikes. It definatly is a thicket, in many places you cant step more than a foot or two off the trail without becoming impaled on a thorny bush. Surrounded by residential areas it is surprising quiet. Very quiet as far as birding goes. Birding might be better in the spring.

The only reason it is not a 5 is because of the litering throughout the park but other than that it is a nice park to go bird/butterfly watching.

I am relatively new to the bike trails here and I am very pleased at the amount of variety is available based on skill level. I frequent this park as a birder and photographer and am now making the transition on the trail systems and I couldnt be more excited to make my way up the trail system. I highly recommend this park for hiking, birding and mountain biking as well.

First time at Harlingen Thicket trails. A very nice and clean place to visit. Saw 4 types of water turtles, a White tailed kite, the train going over the bridge, and alot of families biking, running, hiking, or just having a great weekend. Will return some day.

Very relaxing walk. People use it as a running area. It should be to enjoy nature and walk and listen and see what comes out of the next bush. You see rabbits and birds especially when your quiet.

There are toilets and ample parking at the entrance to the park. Entrance is free. Well-known place for bird watching, including the Cactus Wren. Lots of dense bushes but more open landscape along the river. Its remarkable how much nature there is to see in a city.
