Firstly, the torta de milanesa was BOMB with the candied jalapeños. Secondly, the people and service were even better than my meal! So kind, friendly, warm, and authentic. Delia was an EXCELLENT server. Chef Gio even came out to say hello. What a pleasant experience. Kid-friendliness: Very open. A bunch of families with kids loving the riverwalk vibe.

I had an unforgettable dining experience at the River Walk Cantina! Our chef, Gio, prepared the most flavorful and perfectly cooked fajitas weve ever had. The sizzling platter of steak, chicken, and fresh veggies was simply divine. And to top it off, the margaritas were on point, refreshing and full of flavor. Our server, Perla, provided top-notch service she was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Thanks to Gio and Perla, this will definitely be a place we return to again and again!

Perla was SO incredibly sweet and kind and took the time out of her day to chat with us and tell us about her life The food was delightful (fajitas) the chicken and beef were tender and amazing and the guacamole and and elotes were so fresh and flavorful and then when were were about to leave the chef came out to ask how everything was and if we had any feedback, positive or negative and gave us a dessert for free Genuinely one of the nicest dining experiences I ve had in a long time

Best spot in the Gaylord for sure. Staff was so so sweet and attentive, the food was good and had a wide variety for people who dont eat meat or are GF, and its in a nice spot in the hotel kind of tucked away. Obviously its the Gaylord and the food isnt going to be michelin, but this is the best youll get here 1000%! We went here all three mornings of our conference.

This was the only restaurant without a wait so we choose to eat here. I had the short rib tacos which were dripping with grease and water making everything soggy which means they probably were frozen then cooked. They were very bland and not worth $22 by far. For that price they should be fresh and full of flavor. My wife had the chicken tacos with the same issue. They were dry and dripping with watery grease. Just terrible quality for the price and location. Service was okay. Never refilled our drinks but they did comp our chicken tacos cause my wife could not eat them and lost her appetite. I ate 2 of 3 short rib tacos but was not able to eat the third cause it was not good. All in all we spent $90 as a family and left very dissapointed. Not the experience to have at an expensive resort.

**Riverwalk Cantina at the Gaylord: Great Atmosphere, Disappointing Food** Riverwalk Cantina is a beautiful restaurant situated right in the heart of the Gaylord Hotel , offering a lovely ambiance that promises a great dining experience. Unfortunately, the food doesn t quite live up to the setting. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, and they were pretty disappointing. The dish was almost completely flavorless, and the accompanying beans and rice didn t fare much better. The best part of the meal was actually the chips and salsa, which was the only thing that had some taste. I was tempted to order a margarita, but after noticing that the woman at the next table didn t even drink hers, I decided to skip it. Overall, Riverwalk Cantina is a nice place to sit and enjoy the surroundings, but dont expect the food to match the ambiance.

The food was terrible. Salty, smaller portions than you would expect for this price , low quality store bought tortillas that came dry and wrapped in a piece of paper. Because this resort is sort of isolated and its own little city, there arent many options. Breakfast was ok but way overpriced for what you got . I got two eggs with avocado and toast and a small bowl of potatoes with juice for $25. This is average for hotel prices , I guess. Still overpriced IMO. Dinner left much to be desired. Service was great, however.

This is the most beautiful, relaxing, enjoyable place for an amazing meal experience! This was my second time going to breakfast randomly - I promise the quality and flavor never failed! It was just as delicious as the last visit! Nice, filling, warm plates of Tex-Mex, a smooth hot coffee, lots of drinks including amazing mimosas and other adult drinks, and the softest, warmest, most delectable conchas and other pastries and in my opinion, not everyone can make a good concha! All headed by Chef Alvarado, who surprised us and visited our table! My last visit was just beautiful, but today too the cake with the Chef s surprise visit! No picture this time, we were busy enjoying the meal!

Riverwalk Cantina was the only breakfast place open. Honestly, the food was kind of mid and service was also mediocre. Now, Im not sure if the issue was a shortage of COOKS or WAITERS. If theres no food for the waiters, then Im not going to be mad at the waiter. Food = Oatmeal is $10. Maybe a bowl the size of my hand? I mean, its just a little overpriced ... and toast (2 SLICES OF BREAD) is $3. The main issue was that an order of breakfast tacos, oatmeal and toast, and some kids pancakes/eggs took 30 MINUTES. If you see the photos I took of the scenery, they werent bombarded with parties, its a Thursday morning. Food was mid. Service= We had Kabir as our waiter. Now, Im not exactly sure why (not just kabir, was all waiters), but I didnt exactly see much/any waiters walking around, checking on people. We asked for straws and he only gave us 1 ... for a group of 4 .... and not really much interaction was done. Not saying thats bad, but with a wait time of 30 minutes.... Atmosphere= Atmosphere is fine, nice scenery. I like the birds :) It was just a mediocre experience. Honestly, get a pizza delivered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 2/5

Sunday morning, restaurant NOT packed or anywhere near busy. Table of 7, 6 ordered food, 2 were kids. Waiter was friendly and attentive, however the food took more than 30 minutes to arrive, and only for the adults. Eggs were cold upon arrival. The kids ordered a waffle and Avocado toast .still hadn t arrived 20 minutes following the adults food. Then ONE of the children received their food. Now 30 minutes post food arrival and still nothing for the second kid. Way too much money for below subpar service. Not a good way to conduct business.

Located inside the Gaylord on the bottom floor of the atrium along their river. They really do a good job of mimicking the feel of a restaurant along The Riverwalk in San Antonio. The food is the chefs own version of different Mexican and Tex-Mex fare. It does have good flavoring and is of a high quality. During busier times of the year they will offer a buffet in lieu of a menu. They do a relatively good job of keeping the buffet food as fresh as menu items. Just be prepared to spend a little and dont sleep on the desserts.

It is pricey for tex-mex as other reviewers mentioned, but it is in a premium location, in a premium resort, with premium food and service. The margaritas and ranch waters were top tier. The only change I would suggest is removing the pineapple from the birria tacos.

Our waiter Kyle was helpful with recommendations and answering questions on the menu. I had the grilled steak tacos, which came with three corn tortillas, plenty of steak, and a side of spicy grilled onions and black beans with rice. The salsa was also great and not too hot. Service was quick and flavors were delicious! Dietary restrictions: Good allergy friendly and gluten friendly options available based on the menu itself.

Riverwalk Cantina offers a satisfying buffet-style dining experience with a diverse selection of dishes that generally meet expectations. The quality of the food is commendable, especially considering the challenges often associated with buffet setups. However, the experience is somewhat marred by the beverages, particularly the margaritas. Priced at $15, these drinks unfortunately fall short in terms of flavor and overall quality, detracting from the otherwise enjoyable meal. This aspect of the dining experience could certainly benefit from improvement to match the standard set by the food.

Our bartender/server overheard about our experience and quickly came over to apologize for our experience. The next morning at breakfast we had Sandra again and she had her manager David come visit us. Upon hearing about the room mix up, he haves us 2 complimentary bottles of champagne and orange juice as well, to make Mimosas. He was an extremely delightful gentleman and wish I would see more of that management style adopted by other restaurants. We will definitely be back to see Sandra and David again!

The order was accurate and we definitely will return when in the situation of hunger for Mexican staying in the hotel... The chips and salsa went really well with a margarita!!. I really felt valued with my interaction with the staff. The chips were hot and fresh! (Only thing I would change. . The queso/cheese dip is better from the Texas station restaurant... ) Also - (Staff) members interacted with my daughter they were pleasant and smiling....that goes a long way! The live mariachi band was perfect to set the mood! Mexican!!! Thank you again for being awesome. Respectfully, Bryan Yukon, Oklahoma Kid-friendliness: Kid portion is large

All the way around great experience, Food, service, and atmosphere. It is the most inexpensive but that isnt inexpensive by any means. All of Gaylord restaurants are pricey so be prepared for that. Ask to be seated in Danielles section SHE IS OUTSTANDING!

My husband and I were able to choose from a few vegan options at this restaurant (enfrijoladas, veggies fajitas, black bean tacos, etc). Food and service were great! Juan Carlos was our server and helped us with the food options they had available for us. We are so thankful! Dietary restrictions: Vegan options available

Large tex-mex buffet. The location is fantastic. You feel like you are sitting near the river in San Antonio, but you are in the AC! Come hungry because they have a lot of food to try and a large table of mini desserts. Service was amazing. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

I ordered Enchiladas de Pollo and Street Corn with a Dr. Pepper. They provided chips and salsa. The chips had too much seasoning for my liking. I asked for my Enchiladas to be light on sauce, and I am glad I did because the taste of it was a bit strong on the flavor of it. I liked the rice more than the beans. The Street Corn was really good. Overall, I enjoyed my Enchiladas and Street Corn the most. We ate outside, and it was nice with all the colorful tables and butterfly art on the wall. The server was attentive and friendly. Thank you!

Great food service with Perla was amazing we had a group of 16 and she met every need and was soo nice. They only had the buffet on the night we came which was a bit of a bummer I had some things I wanted to on the regular menu that I missed out on. They only make rice with peas so if you have an allergy like me thats a bummer. Churros and flan were authentic and great!!!

I was here for Book Bonanza and wasn t staying at the hotel but wasn t constantly wanting to leave for food. Our last night (Saturday the 24th) we came here to get a bite. Our servers name was Lamar and he was absolutely fantastic. He had recommended a few different things on the menu and if you get him you must listen. I went with the enchiladas de pollo that he recommended and they were the greatest. I was so blown away by the dish. Fantastic service and food.

Food was disgusting. When you are literally the only breakfast restaurant open in the resort and the prices are jacked up, you expect high standards. I ordered eggs over medium and the yolk was solid and not even close to runny. The bacon was undercooked rubber. The potatoes were hard and overcooked. The manager, wait staff, and service were excellent. They did comp my meal... so Ill give them that... and they offered to make it again if I preferred. I still left a nice tip considering the service was good. Ill try again tomorrow and hopefully it was just an isolated mistake by the kitchen, which we all know can happen to any restaurant.

They offered Printed out copies of our receipts for business needs as well. Vegetarian options: Plenty to choose from Kid-friendliness: Cute outdoor patio area with a mural you can have your kids take pics at. There is a nearby stream to be aware of though.

We had a really great time on Mothers Day at the Riverwalk Cantina. The food was great and so was the ambience. We have been spending Mothers Day here for almost 11 years and this was our most special experience. What made this particular visit special was our exceptional server - Trinity. Trinity paid attention to details, got us what we asked for and even what we didnt ask for. My daughter was struggling to eat her chocolate mousse because we accidentally got her a soup spoon instead of a dessert spoon. Trinity noticed this and got us a dessert spoon so my daughter could enjoy her dessert. Thanks for hiring and inspiring exceptional team members like Trinity. We are looking forward to our next visit.

The venue setting is superb set under the huge glass veranda is allows plenty of natural light and wide open spaces which allows plenty of space between tables (it gets pretty chilly so bring a sweater) . The issue is the food quality (freshness) which my wife and I found to be average to below average. My wifes entree with pulled chicken was extremely dry, almost not edible and clearly leftover from the days before or just cooked poorly. My entree of grilled and sliced chicken breast was flavored well but also dry (not as dry as my wifes entree). We found the sides to be prepared well and all were delicious but they have a problem with cooking protein. Our second night was at a vendor buffet event. I tried their pulled pork but it was also dry, overcooked and not eye appealing. Now their brisket was most acceptable, not the best Ive ever had but cooked and prepared well. Service however was the saving grace, professional, fast helpful and friendly.

So a 15 minute wait turned into 45 minutes and had to complain that all the large groups that came after have already been seated. Then advised we need to rush now to get a person ready for prom. They brought her food fast then we ordered and it took forever. When it came cheese that was to be on taco was on salad, and item sauce on side came with it on. We had to just eat and dash. Hope this is not how our entire time here will be.

The service was hit and miss. We were seated quickly but waited several minutes for a server to appear. There was a large buffet served with many delicious choices. We were very satisfied with the offerings. The server did a good job of clearing our plates between runs to the buffet. When finished, we had to wait 15 minutes for our server to return with the check, and another 5 minutes to run the card. We werent in any hurry, thankfully. The buffet with three drinks cost two of us over $100.

Please be aware that the Brunch Buffet is NOT a guarantee and only available based on occupancy. The website does not explain the risk involved so Im taking the time to warn people. After explaining this to front desk management, they seemed uninterested in ensuring future guests were aware that the buffet is not always available, though based on the website it clearing shows it is. Ensure you call ahead or you could be very disappointed like our family was :-(
