Historical local place. Theyve been there since 1966. This past Saturday, they celebrated the anniversary with 1966 priced $.19 tacos. Parking: Not many spots around the building but there are a few that can be used between Don Juans and the auto parts business next door. Its never taken me long to find a place to park.

I ve been eating at this restaurant for 56 years!! It never disappoints. I now live an hour away and still drive the distance for Taco Thursdays. The Mexican Plate and the Grande Plate are my other favorites. We are a three generations Don Juan s family!

Picked up lunch, haven t been to this place the 70 s decided to give it another try. Big mistake, we ordered the enchiladas plate, we were to get beans and rice or guacamole. We got the enchiladas and beans, no rice, no guacamole, the third compartment was filled with sliced jalapeño peppers! It s amazing what people try to get away with when you go through the drive thru. I don t eat jalapeños and I certainly don t like them stinking up my plate. Well, it doesn t matter because the food was terrible anyway. Update: Hey Mason, thanks for your quick reply. Maybe that s what happened, may I suggest that you isolate the peppers in a small container so that the juice or scent doesn t get into the other food (for those of us who don t like jalapeños). I prefer rice and beans with my enchiladas. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Ate here last Wednesday for lunch an hour later I was so sick I got food poisoning and felt like I was going to die wish I went to ER so this place could have been reported because never in my life I felt this bad I m still recovering and just the thought of it makes me want to throw up my stomach hasn t been the same since. Grossss! The thought of this place just makes me sick and ur response won t make ur place better. Attacking people for their opinion shows what kind of manager you are. Instead of apologizing and reply as to I will certainly look into this you decide to attack. You and this place is disgusting. Someone should take that MANAGER title away from you!

I am assuming they had to open Sundays because sales are down. Most likely, due to your unfriendly staff that refuses to make party packs. Must be laziness, in my opinion. Update to manager response: I requested the kiddie party pack. Your KIDDIE Party packs include just 5 kiddie bean burritos, 5 meat and bean burritos, and some tacos. All I requested was for 10 kiddie bean burritos, no meat burritos. Dont see the harm? Save you some meat and a customer. Its definitely a doable request. Id probably hurry back and order that weekly.

Honest review. I ordered several hard & soft tacos & 2 burritos. It would taste 1000 times better if there was seasoning. Where is the seasoning? It s flavorless! Very plain tasting. Even the salsa tastes watered down and flavorless. I really wanted to like it but there are too many other places that aren t afraid to use seasoning on the meat Edit: Lunch date? I used to early here 2 times a week when I lived up there a couple years ago. Yesterday I happened to be in Grand Prairie so I stopped in and ordered over $140 worth of food to feed everyone at home. Food was delicious until I bit into an enchilada and a long hair came out of it. Then another and another. 3 hairs in total were mixed into an enchilada and that grossed me out. I couldnt eat anymore and felt sick from the thought of it. The staff making the food need hair nets. Gag.

I havent been here in years because I no longer live in the area. The food is good and the people are friendly but, any time there is a coupon discount whether it is through Groupon or Dining Advantage something goes wrong. I was in just before closing on 06/12/2024. I had a coupon for buy one get one plate from the Dining Advantage coupon site. I also had a $20 credit to use the BOGO coupon. I placed my order at the register with a manager I assume to utilize the coupon I had. We went through the steps on my phone to use my coupon which would use up to $7 of my credit. There was a code that was given after I chose to use the coupon. I asked the employee if they needed the code and they said no. They just charged me for one plate. She told me my total came to $9.59 so I gave her $10 and she gave me .41¢ change. This was around 9:50 pm and they closed at $10 pm. I got condiments such as pico de gallo, jalapenos and salsa. They handed me my order and allowed me to get extra salsa for my take out order. Walking out the door it had to be just after 10 pm. A few miles down the road it dawned on me that I paid $9.59 cash for my food AND had $7 deducted from my Dining Advantage credit. In other words I didnt get to use my buy one get one free coupon although it is listed as used. I immediately pulled over and attempted calling to speak to the manager but, the phone rang endlessly. It was after 10 pm and they are closed. No service, no phone calls. Now I have a predicament. The manager did not give me a receipt so, I do not have anything to show them if I go back. I am waiting for customer service from Dining Advantage to respond to an email about the situation. In summary, Don Juans is good food. The employees are usually good people. This location has been there for decades and what I consider a staple of Grand Prairie. The only issue I have is with coupons. If you use one, be sure they get it right. Plus, I guess you have to ask for a receipt but, get your receipt in case anything happens. Otherwise youll have to rely on employees to remember and or video of the exchange.

Ive been eating here since 1970! Today, 4/23/2024 at approximately 2:30 pm, went on the inside & ordered 4 kidds burritos with meat & cheese only ( like I always do).. After getting home, to my surprise they had beans & cheese on them & I DO NOT eat refried beans.. I called up their & she said to come back in for a credit.. These burritos I had ordered were my lunch & supper & I live in Irving but I went on & took them back. As I was leaving NO ONE told me to come back, have a nice day, nothing! The Building its self was dirty. The lights and ceiling have mold around them, the high chairs are very sticky and gross. It did not feel like a clean place and its not just because it was old, because you do have to take that into account. Also the food was okay, but it did not taste authentic like Mexican food, it tasted more like taco bell. Im sorry your not willing to look upon your reviews and improve your location. It is surprising to me how unprofessional your responses have been. I have written an honest review of your restruant, and yes I did not love the food and yes I did eat at the restruant.

Ive never given anywhere a one star rating. But this was some of the worst food and worst atmosphere Ive experienced. Have no clue why it has such a high rating. I was genuinely concerned for my safety eating the food. Pretty certain well be on the toilet later. The place looks like it hasnt been cleaned for 50 years, and the food was basically canned food I stopped eating the tamales because the beef didnt seem to be cooked enough.

Just a classic taco joint in the heart of Grand Prairie. The daily specials are a bargain, especially on Thursday. 5 white people tacos for under $5? Yes, please! Add to that the spicy salsa bar, fair waring the salsa there has a bite. Table salsa does not. Theres even a volcano out front that you can use at your own risk! Ive never used it, but tell me if you do. Did you sacrifice a virgin? Win a middle school science fair? I cant wait to find out. If its nice out, sit under the metal umbrellas out front, theres a cool echo when you learn in to talk! The Grand Prairie Historical Commision has even designated this place as a Significant Landmark. If you come here, be sure to tell them I sent you. It wont get you anything, but it will be fun to have an inside joke between the two of us.

Never go on a Thursday night. Waited in drive thru forever. Get to window pay and the cashier sends me out a sack and a plate chicken quesadilla. she tells me to pull to front and they will bring out the rest of the order. I waited several minutes and finally a young lady brings out another sack and plate. I asked if that was it and she said yes. I checked and a plate was missing. I tried to call out to her but it was too late. I go inside and tell them they forgot the tamales and the person behind the counter said no its the quesadilla. They will bring it out to me. I went back out to my car and another customer comes out and said I am sorry they messed up your order. She goes back in and also ask about my quesadilla. A staff member comes out and hands me two plates ( I am only waiting on one) I ask if it was the quesadilla he mumbled something and I said its not that this is cold. He goes back in another staff member brings the two plates back out Looking for the customer they belong to. I yelled at her and asked about the rest of my order she said the kitchen was backed up. Wait on the first customer first apologize. No customer service anymore.

Last night s pre-game meal was had at a local GP staple establishment - Don Juan s! Small, iconic local food joint with a few patio tables outside and a huge variety of food on the menu! There is a small rock volcano on the patio. Somebody tell me there s a story to the volcano because otherwise it was strange and out of place I ordered a combo burrito. It was fine. Nothing exciting, but I also found myself drowning it in salsa to make it more enjoyable. The burrito was lukewarm. My husband is from GP so the nostalgia game was strong! Our daughter and her friends ordered French fries with ranch dressing cups for dipping. Overheard in the backseat, These fries are legit 10 out of 10. Three teenage girls tore up three orders of fries, so it seems as though the fries are a must try next time! I ll likely eat something there again the next time we are in GP for Friday Night Lights. Give Don Juan s a go! It s better than Bell.

Don Juans opened the year after my parents moved to Grand Prairie in 1965 its not changed one bit since its like putting on an old comfy tee-shirt. The food is just as good as ever and now all three of my daughters have sat in the ancient high chairs I did as a kid. The nastalgia is amazing.

Thursday taco special is super cheap but filling. Recommend using the hot sauce they have as it livens up an otherwise bland hardshell taco. They keep the line moving pretty quick so thats nice. I love coming here as the atmosphere is generally very homey and cozy. But it can get packed so be aware or go take out. Parking: Parking is really where this place struggles. I think theres something like 11 spaces total and the drive thru runs through them making getting out difficult if your under a time crunch. Recommend parking in the empty lot by the adjacent NAPA autocare place.

The service was excellent. They were having some problems with their card machine and they said go ahead and eat and well try it again after you eat. The prices are great and the quantity and quantity of food is great. The taste of the food is amazing.

Food was equal to that of taco casa which I find bland and a disgraceful to latina moms everywhere, and I understand the nostalgic feel one would have to the restaurant, but it could use a bit of an update inside. Overall acceptable for the quick lunch, but I wont be returning.
