Ive been here twice for takeout. Not sure what the hype is about, but this place has THE slowest service possible. Not only was my order delayed, but they recommended a dish (bun bo hue) and apparently didnt have the ingredients. They told me this when I stopped by thinking my order would be ready for pickup according to their ETA. So bc of the lack of ingredients, they recommended another soup noodle dish which tacked on another 30 minutes for some reason and ultimately I waited an hour+ on two standard noodle soup dishes (hu tieu & pho). Might I add I witnessed a worker sneezing several times loudly without covering his mouth and when he turned in my view, I could see he was pushing the open carts of customers foods to their table.

Today was a lousy day. Traffic was awful. People were driving 20mph under the speed limit on the tollway in the middle lane. There were communication issues in my group. It suuuucked. So I really needed a win when it came to dinner....especially one that would please the judgiest member of our party: my very Thai mother. Mom always wants pho when were out and about, and shell eat it just about anywhere....but theres always a basilisk-like stare of displeasure and disappointment. Shell be polite but let her feelings be known in the car. Shes not kind. She doesnt share these views with the restaurant. She also never compliments the food to them. She just has that look. 286 Noodle House was the needed outlier to these experiences. The food--every dish--was not only excellent, but Mom declared it the best shed had at a restaurant. She gave it her complete approval. I had to explain to our kind server that my mother doesnt falsely compliment, and she rarely says nice things about an establishments food privately. Their food is of an excellence that it made our lousy day livable. Oh yeah, and my car didnt start after the meal, and I had to sit in the August heat while coaxing my car to start. Yeah, it was that kind of day.

I first decided to try Bep Que next door since I enjoy exploring new places, but it turned out to be a complete disappointment. Despite pointing to a picture of what I wanted, they didn t understand my order and still messed it up. Frustrated, I paid and headed over to 286 instead, and as always, it did not disappoint! Even though 286 was busier, they got my takeout order ready much faster than Bep Que. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Its a surprise for us. We came in for a party of 5 people on Sunday. Heard from a family and we wanted to try their pho beef soup. It was good but a long wait and the pho was highlights of the trip. Everything else in menu were average. There was always people coming in and waiting in line to get sears. VIETNAMESE HOMESTYLE COOKING Wow! This place is great for the home-cooked style Vietnamese food your mom would toil and work so hard in the kitchen for but served in a restaurant! I was actually expecting to eat the standard pho or vermicelli noodles but we chose the traditional Vietnamese menu and ate family style. It tastes exactly like what my mom cooks so it s a great find when I m missing moms cooking. First time here with my girlfriend also the food was amazing and, the service was even better the atmosphere was really calming. The braised fish and sour soup are so delicious, but you have to wait 30 minutes because the kitchen will make it when a customer orders. If you dont make it first, it will lose its deliciousness. You can book before arriving to avoid having to wait. Our familys dinner tray cost $62 but 4 people couldnt use it all, so we had to take it home. The waitress serving my table was very enthusiastic and polite. The restaurant is clean, delicious and reasonably priced

Review updated summer 2024: My family likes their h ti u khô here. The h ti u n c is also delicious. The h ti u broth is savory and smells like traditional h ti u broth. They offer h ti u with the choice of dry with sauce or with broth in, along with choices of ph noodle, thin egg noodle, or clear potato starch noodle known as h ti u dai noodle. My preference is with the h ti u dai noodle. This particular h ti u dai noodle is usually made in Japan known as saifun which cost more and so not many Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in Florida would offer this noodle as an option. The h ti u is served with traditional vegetables and herbs such as tong ho (rau t n ô), Chinese celery (rau c n tàu), Chinese chives (h ), bean sprouts, scallion, cilantro, and fried shallots. The ingredient I must have in my bowl of h ti u is the diced bits of crunchy fried pork fat. The noodle, pork bone broth, spices, herbs, and fried pork fat makes up what is known as h ti u. This place has it all. I recommend trying the h ti u noodle here. Summer 2022: I came to the restaurant with one purpose and that is try their Mì V t Ti m as recommended by the DFW Grub Dub. Mì V t Ti m is Vietnamese herbal duck egg noodle soup. The duck is first lightly deep fried in oil to achieve a crispy golden skin yet still raw inside. Then chopped and stewed in broth with lotus seeds, Chinese jujubes, shiitake mushrooms, and sometimes dried Lily flowers along with seasoning and spices to achieve its unique v t ti m flavor. Neutral Review: Compared to other restaurants I have tried, this is the best version. I can sniff and taste a true v t ti m broth flavor. The fried duck meat at this restaurant is chewy, dry, and somewhat bland as if they fried it to well done and add it to the bowls when ordered to make it convenient, definitely not the texture of duck meat when stewed in the herbal broth. I would still recommend to give this noodle soup a try here. Most other restaurants cheat their way out using Chinese roasted duck, or use h ti u broth or ph broth and disguise it to look like v t ti m broth but doesn t taste like it. Compared to my mama s homemade v t ti m, I love mom s homemade mì v t ti m best. She would stew the duck for a long time so that it s so soft and tender almost falling off the bone kind. I was going to take mom here to try the noodle soup but I will pass since she is very picky. Customer service was okay. The server doesn t have good memory. They put someone else order on my table and also forgot to give my son a small bowl. I had to go up to remind them. There were only two tables filled up at the restaurant too so it wasn t even that busy.

I ve been coming to this establishment now for a good while. Not only does it have its elegance, but also very welcoming. The food is delicious and definitely my favorite combination pho .. Our waitress LA is the best! Very attentive, funny, great customer service. Now I can t speak for all that takes some one who only wants to make sure that you are taken care of in every way would consider that excessive or to much! Delicious, fresh Vietnamese food with great pricing. Get the fresh noodles!!! Not many Vietnamese restaurants offer fresh noodles for their pho but this is one of the lucky few. Portion size is large, food was flavorful and delicious and I left stuffed to the seams. Got: pho dac diet, bun thit nuong, bun bo hue, Vietnamese sweet and sour fish soup and Vietnamese braised fish. The last 2 fish dishes take time to make so I recommend calling like 30 mins before you arrive to order it so that its pretty much ready when you arrive. My family often goes to 286 noodle house to eat sour soup and braised fish, very delicious. I came here with my family on a Sunday and it was packed. I wanted to eat the braised fish and canh chua but was told it ll take 30 minutes give or take so my family decided to get pho instead because we were all hungry. The pho took about 45 minutes to come out. I noticed the table right next to us came in and ordered the braised fish and canh chua and their order came out in 10 minutes. By their conversation with the owner/manager guy I think they know him so I guess their order had priority. I m pretty unhappy about this. I recently had a profoundly disappointing experience. The customer service was, quite frankly, non-existent. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive. My friend ordered bún riêu, only to be told it wasn t available while two others didn t receive their entree. The staff deflected responsibility rather than addressing the issue. They need to be more accountable. That said, the food was excellent. If you plan to dine here, opting for takeout might be a safer choice.

TLDR: This one is a legit staple for Vietnamese food for sure! I keep returning for the food, yet their service needs some improvements. The food: My sister and I visited the place yesterday (around 4:30 pm, April 25, 2024) and as Im writing this review, the flavorful Pho broth still seems to linger in my mind. I can taste the quality of food and the dedication put into it. My sister ordered a Hu Tieu bowl, and it absolutely slapped! Not only that, the spring rolls were to die for (we cant help but order them everytime). Ive tried a lot of their dishes to the point Im glad to consider myself their regular customer, and Ill say that without a shame as their food never fails to hit home for me. Still, if there is anything that holds me back from ever returning, that would be... The service: Most of my visits, the service hasnt been so consistent. While Khiem greets my sister and I with kindness, remembers our preferences and checks on us whether were enjoying the food or need anything else, we dont have much luck with some other servers. Yesterday in particular, a female server (long black hair in ponytail, wearing glasses) was totally cold towards us. As she sat us yesterday, she threw the menus on the table and told another server our drink preferences, without any regard to what else we might want to say. Then, we told her wed like extra veggies and limes, she didnt seem to notice that. As she brought the spring rolls to our table, she turned away immediately while we were trying to remind her about the extras, with absolutely not a care given to make sure if everything was in place or not. Its fair to say he made up for the whole experience, and I think he needs a raise. 5 stars for you, Khiem . It wouldnt suffice without mentioning the manager as well, Mr. Ly. Though we had just a brief talk, he always makes us feel welcomed, being friendly and attentive to our preferences. If you do get a chance to talk to him, please do! Hes super passionate about the food and elevating the dining experience, and he does care to bring the best to his customers. The atmosphere: Nice, bright yet cozy. Ideal for family gatherings, or a night out with friends, or simply a date. It feels like home to me, enjoying great food in a relaxing vibe. Overall, I cant wait to come back for more healing Viet food cravings, haha!! Service is obviously not a priority here. What I found most interesting is how the young man filled the water of the first two booths but never came to my booth. I had to go up to the counter to ask for more water. Then when I asked for to go containers he had the nerve to say and the check like I was going to walk out without paying. I told him I thought I had to pay at the counter because that s what other ppl were doing. Then he stood there while I went in my purse to get the money. I ordered fried egg rolls didn t get them. I had to remind them when my pho came out. I don t know if it s their culture or if they re racist because I experienced the same thing at a different restaurant in that area. I ll continue my search for good pho with good customer service because this definitely was not it. Oh and the young lady slamming plates the whole time I was eating and spraying cleaning supplies all over as I ate really worked my nerves. I won t be going back that s for sure. I ll spend my money with a restaurant that actually cares and don t make their profiling so obvious.

Really like the bun rieu here! Edited to add their banh canh and hu tieu is SO DANG GOOD!! I eat here probably 4-5 times a month lol. Ca kho is good but I am picky with catfish, it s easy for it to smell like the ocean but that s a personal preference. The flavor is ON POINT! Salmon kho is really good and more mild on the fish taste. maybe one day they ll add it to the menu like they added banh canh. The banh canh noodles were perfect. We had a pretty bad experience today!!! My wife asked one of the waitresses for some ice to store her breast milk. She gave the waitress a cup and told her please put some ice in the cup first then place the milk bag on top then add some more ice on. Well, She poured the milk over ice!!!!! Now my new born doesnt have any breast milk today. Definetely wont ever be back to this place again. Like how dense can you be to not understand a simple instruction...

I went with my family here for the first time today and we were all very impressed with this restaurant. We mostly ordered the short rib pho and also the pork chop with rice. The short rib pho is a MUST! The broth, meat, and noodles were all amazingly tasty! This place is definitely now in our top 3 to get pho around Dallas. Also, the pork chop was probably the best we ve had. It was tender, juicy, and very flavorful (perfect blend of sweet and savory). The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Great experience! Definitely planning on making this a regular place for us.

The best pho weve ever had! Super flavorful and it feels like its made with good quality ingredients! Lots of meat which is wonderful, because I feel like a lot of other pho places just give you a lot of vegetables and not much else. The filet mignon here is tender and delicious! Very bad services. I like foods here, but I will never come back. They took my order then left me at the table for about 45 minutes without foods and no services. When I ask the waitress for the first time, she said ok, but I guess she did not care so I had to wait for another 15 minutes. I love coming to this restaurant, and we drive from Carrollton to enjoy their food. Today I got the pork chops with meat loaf, fried egg and pickled vegetables. It was so tender and delicious. We also got the hu tieu because we kept hearing rave reviews from the Vietnamese community, and they are right! The owner is so passionate about authenticity, freshness, cleanliness and it really shows. The passion fruit tea is refreshing as well. I cant wait to to back!

Neither my husband nor I have had Vietnamese food before so how to eat certain dishes came with a learning curve, but the reviews were great so we figured wed try something new. Fair warning, some dishes take a while (sweet and sour catfish soup), but they let you know that upfront, and they also recommend calling ahead if you want things collectively speedier. Great service, water was always speedily refilled. We got the spring rolls, the sauce with them was quite nice. The lemonade is perfect, not excessively sweet or tart. The sweet and sour catfish soup is delicious. For those of you who are new to it like me, just be aware that its enough for 3 people, and to watch for the bones in the catfish, as its multiple cross sections. Also, it comes with a sauce on the side(fish sauce I think?), use sparingly, the broth flavor is honestly already perfect and doesnt need it. I accidentally added to much, but that was my fault. My husband got the braised catfish and it was AMAZING. Same style of cooking, in the sense of watch out for bones, but that is hands down the best catfish either of us have ever had. The dish itself isnt spicy, though theres 2 small red peppers in there that I think were thai chilis(?). Adds great flavor to the dish, just wouldnt recommend eating those individually unless you like a solid fire in your mouth lol. It was a fun experience, wonderful staff, and the food was fantastic. 100% will be going back.

The Canh Chua Ca (Sweet and Sour Fish Soup) is seriously the best in DFW metroplex. It is so flavorful with the right amount of sweet and sour flavor. There are 3 large pieces of fish in the soup. The Ca Kho (Caramelized Braised Fish)is also amazing. I would recommend calling in the order about 20-25 minutes in advance for dine-in for these two dishes, as they will take close to 30 minutes to prepare if you order in the restaurant. The manager is super nice and the staff is very friendly. Definitely a must try restaurant if you like Vietnamese food.

We were just here today! My baby and I were here to have lunch. I asked for a high chair and we were told that we can only sit at table number 16. As we wait for our orders, my baby was upset cause he was hungry. The waiter came up to us and told us that I need to keep my baby quiet cause he is making too much noise and is bothering other people. REALLY!!! I love this place, eating here makes me so happy :) The food is so good it can only be made by people that take great pride in quality and spare no expense in the ingredients they use. When the slice of lime you get with your noodle soup would be freshly sliced off a fruit just picked from a tree. I had the catfish claypot and fell in love with it. The pork chops were so fresh the meat tasted sweet and was soft, and in a time when other restaurants start to shrink their portion, you still get 2 good size pieces in one order.
