This is a nice place for Birthday Dinner Party. A childrens party ,a Pastor appreciation Service. It was three graduation parties being done at the same time in three different rooms. This is a nice clean place. With a outstanding Staffs. Very friendly and respectful. My grandsons graduation party was really nice

Had Win & Vickis Golden 50th wedding anniversary here, and in honor of their som Jonathan. Very nice civic center, lots of activities, people, sports/recreation center, and catered lunch event for us. Win and Vicki were neighbors of ours in Houston, i worked with him at Exxon (he had over 40 years (!!) in construction and management at Exxon!!), we traveled to many of same places in the world, hed also fill-in as backup preacher when regular preacher was away at NWBC and invite us to listen so wed play hooky from our regular church and go listen to him and hear Lord speak thru him, they helped marry bernadette and me, and so many people here gave testimonies of what great influences they were in everyones lives! People were there from his college at Princeton, where he said they barely scraped by financially getting money for sublet with odd jobs, their long 40 year retired dentist was there, neighbors, various church members and pastors were there from where they attended, centers for autism, special Olympics directors ... so many people they touched thru their lives, and they dedicated all this to our great Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! What witnesses! Well done good and faithful servants!

I had my moms 65th birthday celebration there on January 21, 2023 in the theater room. I reserved it from 5-9 and prepared to pay for the extra hour because I needed an hour to setup. Therefore the party started at six. When I got there at 455 to check in the lady at the desk didn t have no idea what I was talking about until I explained to her then she finally found my reservation. I already wasted time then because my paperwork was not in the proper place. When I got into the theater room nothing was setup, they still had tables and things up from the last event. At this point I am hot, another waste of time also means that I had to setup as she was putting out table and chairs. At six o clock people started showing up and things are not fully done. The only reason why they are getting two stars is because I didn t have to pay extra for the hour and the guy was nice enough to take the trash out after we cleaned up. I will NEVER reserve anything else from them.

All brides and grooms should choose an actual venue instead of this alleged venue . The Desoto Civic Center should not book weddings. They don t care to make any moment of the planning special. I was helped by Octavius, who was pleasant; but didn t understand the need to work smart vs hard. The team should really host a weekly meeting to discuss policy and procedure. No one is on the same page. When I expressed what was told by another employee, I simply kept hearing that THEY no longer work here. AND?? I had an entire diagram created to assist with the layout of the room, which was still done incorrectly. Octavius KEPT reiterating that they needed their blank form filled out instead. Okay, so y all trust something I pencil in, opposed to an actual diagram of all THREE Pecan Rooms? With only one hour for real set up, the least that could ve been done is the correct table set up. The room was STILL set up incorrectly. Also, I did each thing that was required of me and yet.. The day of my wedding, My Dad informed me that the rooms were incredibly hot. He mentioned it to an employee (light skin guy at the desk Saturday), and NOTHING was done. We arrived at the facility and no one was around to assist. We searched all over also. Here I am in my wedding dress and sweating by this point. I walk down the aisle and am taken back by everyone fanning and my groom sweating. We finally get to our reception and it was hot and unbearable for our guests and ourselves. No one came back to view the place until closer to 11pm. My guests were leaving early, as did we. We couldn t stand the unbearable heat any longer. I will never recommend that any bride use this place. Weddings are special. If you don t share this value, don t host weddings at your venue . I only chose this place because I wanted to give back to the community I live in. A decision I now regret. Save your money and your time. Go somewhere that has an event planner and staff that cares enough to be there on your special day. On our checkout form, we included these details, and no one has called us to even apologize. Very professional. Thank you for making my wedding day as uncomfortable as possible.

*Long Sigh* From day one I feel as if I was set up to fail from the Desoto Civic Center between miscommunication and tons of misinformation. I was told this was a beautiful place to hold my wedding reception because I was searching around, I m not from here. When I went to the civic center in November 2018 with a friend, we were helped by Ms. Lisa. Upon looking into the different rooms I chose a blue bonnet room because I like the lighting and also the dance floor. My wedding reception was suppose to fall on January 5th 2019, but unfortunately that day was booked so I had to move the date out to February 9th 2019. Which was ok to me because it gave me a little more time. On the day I actually booked blue bonnet room 2 I was asked was a serving alcohol and having music. I originally said no to the alcohol and said yes I was having music. I was then told by Ms. Lisa that music was ok as long as it didn t bleed over into the other rooms! Also if I wanted to serve alcohol I would have to pay for the permit and then get a Desoto police officer to be the security at the event. After my friend and myself gathered this information we decided to pay which included a deposit. I was asked who event it was and politely told them it was for me, it was my reception. Then I was told that I had to provide a copy of my ID and the event would go in my name. At this time we told the guy who was working the desk that my friend was doing all the planning and I was only paying for everything. Fast forward, now it s January and my friend that was with me went to Desoto Civic Center to pay for the permit so we could have alcohol because it s what my wife wanted because we were told at any time we could change and serve alcohol as long as we had a certificated bartender. On this day my friend was told by another employee that I was the one who had to come and pay for the permit and also contact the Desoto police, that we had been misinformed. Get this, the entire time we were getting misinformation from different employees that worked there. To make a very long story short I didn t get my deposit back because instead of leaving at 12/midnight we left at 12:07. We were attempting to empty the trash and find the trash-bins outside. I called the manager Kevin to talk to him about all the miscommunication and misinformation I had received, but the only thing he truly cared about was keeping my deposit. He didn t care that my event didn t start on time because the decorations were not complete. He didn t care that I couldn t have a DJ or music because his employees didn t know the correct information to tell me. He didn t care that I came to the center several times out of my way to have to talk to several people who NEVER once told me that multiple people could have signed the contract. He didn t care that it was my special night and I cried and messed up my makeup because my night was ruined from the exhaustion of his people. All he truly cared about is that I was 7 mins late leaving and the center was able to keep my money after they failed to make my night special!

We had my daughters baby shower in Pecan 1 room and it was awesome. The 7-4 time slot was a reasonable cost and we had enough time for preparation, setup, the celebration and clean-up. The staff was very cordial and friendly. They checked on us periodically to see if anything extra was needed. We needed an extra table, and the nice gentleman located us one without hesitation. I really wish I knew his name, because he was awesome! If you would like a nice place to host an event, I highly recommend the Desoto Civic Center!
