So much to say! Bryan is a top tier server! The atmosphere is luxurious despite the location. The drinks are some of the best in denton, the food is amazing, and the churro cheesecake desert literally made me tear up. We ordered a second one immediately. Definitely check this place out when you can!

Nice place if you like boutique tequila cocktails and want that Wine Bar feel. Not a restaurant even though its tables and dining area will say, restaurant. Pork was salty and overcooked, chicken was really dry. Im sure the cocktails are great, but Im not a tequila drinker.

We enjoyed our Saturday dinner at Wild Cactus. The Mexican sampler was a great deal to split for the table - Birria tostadas, chicken tacos, pulled pork tacos, two chicken quesadillas, guac, queso, and elote. The birria had a great flavor and the pulled pork quesadillas were great. The ocean water cocktail was a fun drink and the churro cheesecake cup was a sweet treat to finish off our meal. Only item that received a ok review was the elote, but everything else was fresh and great.

This oasis is lovely! Great mexican inspired food, such a cool vibe inside, and even better food! Three of us split a flight of margaritas, split the sampler platter. Highly suggest the little round chips with pork on them lol Guacamole was fresh and on point! Great place for a date night or meeting with the girlies! The only challenge is the parking- but its well worth a short walk!

Service and drinks were great but the food: Chicken tacos were dry pork tacos were dry, the elote.... The corn was obviously from a can.. I mean come on... The queso was kind of bland. The roasted house salsa is pretty amazing Guacamole was great and the quesadilla was great. Presentation was beautiful just needs a little quality bump.

This place is spectacular!! Me and my fiancé both work in the restaurant industry and we were absolutely shook by our server/bartender, Brian, and the food & drinks. Amazing, thoughtful, thorough service. Best margarita I ve had in a long time, and I can t recommend their French 75 highly enough - a perfect pairing with anything on the spicier side. Their sampler is a must for your first time. The ambiance is comfortable, cozy, and on trend. Perfect for a casual date night, a sexy party, or a girls or boys night. What a great place just to hang out and have a cold drink. They have open garage like doors and we got our food quick! we ordered crawfish and a poboy sandwich! Yum!!! the craw fish was of big size and tasty! I would recommend that the seating is not so close to each other but other than that, it was great!

Nice and relaxing. However, the portion of food is small and still over $11 with not much variety. Their drinks menu is huge. That s pretty good. The service was slow. I had to flag them down. The salsa was too spicy and there s no other choice to eat your chips with.

Had high hopes because the place is so stinking cute! But we were very disappointed. We went on a Friday night. The place was not busy at all but I had to go up to the bar three times to ask to be seated. The hostess essentially ignored us while setting up for a larger party and then sat the party that came in behind us without saying I ll be right back or anything. Eventually had a bartender seat us. Unfortunately service did not improve. Everything was so slow, we were there for nearly two hours and we again had to get up and ask for water, silverware, napkins, as well as our check. Margaritas were good but the food was adequate at best. The menu is not the same as they have posted online. Your options are tacos. That s it. Queso tasted like it came out of a jar. Very disappointing for a 40+ dollar meal (with drinks). Do not recommend and will not return.

My wife & I used to love this place. The menu changed awhile back, but it still had most of our favorites. However, during the past year they have frequently been out of items we would normally get. Then sometime n the past 6 months the drink menu was cut n 1/2 & prices went up a considerable amount (supposedly due to their accountant saying the prices were too low). We used to come several times a month. Now we only come maybe once every 2 months. Too many other options at better prices n the area. I hope things will change.

I came here for happy hour, more for the margaritas Id heard so much about than anything. They were pretty good! I got a flight of three of the fruit ones, and my mom got one with blueberry as well as another that I cant recall specifics on. The food we got was decent, but not memorable. Id definitely go back. AMAZING, out of the park experience at Wild Cactus tonight. I dont know what was more phenomenal - the atmosphere, the food, the strength of drinks, the dessert, or the incredible service of Angel. Ive had this spot on my list for a long time and finally got the opportunity to go and I am SO BEYOND pleased. Angel was amazing. gave great recommendations, and even was our evening photographer after we checked out. HIGHLY recommend the churro cheesecake DO NOT SKIP THE DESSERT!

Spent $65 on a shared quesadilla for kids and 5 taquitos(hard as an rock) and margarita Nothing comes with sides so I ordered rice and beans as sides. They only gave us one side of it. Would not recommend. I will never go back again. The portions suck and it s not worth the price for the food. I would rather have taco bueno or taco casa before I eat here again. This is a place you pay for the atmosphere not the food. 10/10 would no recommend. I never write reviews and this one really got me going enough to post this!!

I had high hopes for Wild Cactus, and everything on the menu sounded amazing, but the chef was so heavy handed with the lime that it absolutely ruined the elote, the guacamole and the highly touted margarita. The brisket is amazing and its inclusion in the queso, empanadas and flautas helped make up for the miscues on other selections. Our server was highly inexperienced and depended on another woman to handle our group of five. Portions were generous, but the restaurant had no to go boxes for the items that were edible. Checkout took too long, especially when he failed to run my card and had to take it back. On return, he said, My bad, which I then realized he had already said too many times. My bad for thinking Wild Cactus would be a standout dining experience. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp entrance.

Always enjoy a visit to wild cactus cantina. They did such a beautiful job with the decor here. Excellent margaritas and a lot to choose from. Small food menu but good. Enjoyed everything I ve tried so far here. Great happy hour deals. They also own Milpa in town. Highly recommend! Came most recently for National taco day and they had some great specials! The food and drinks were great, it seemed fairly priced and the atmosphere was nice. But the service left a lot to be desired. For starters, the hostess asked if our group of three wanted to sit at the bar. It s kind of hard to talk as a group at a bar. So we asked how long it would be to wait for a table. She then told us there was a high top we could sit at. We said we d like to sit there. Walking around the restaurant there were at least three other tables (but I know maybe they didn t have staff for all of them ) As we got to the table, she asked if we were sure we couldn t just sit at the bar. We said we d prefer to sit at the high top. It seemed like she didn t want us to sit there even though she offered it to us in the first place. Our waiter was nice but there were several times I started to think he forgot about us. We spent over 2 hours there and the majority of that was waiting 10+ mins for him to take our orders, 40+ to bring us salads, 15+ to bring us the bills after we asked, and 15+ to bring back our cards (these are just estimates, of course). I d get if the hostess hesitated to sit us there because she knew they d be less attentive. But she didn t say anything like that and there was another group in that section. They forgot to give us a drink menu until after we ordered food. But the drinks did come out quickly. So kudos to the bar staff! Overall, I might try it one more time because I liked the food and drinks. But if the subpar service wasn t just a one-time fluke, I don t know that I d return a third time.

I really wanted to lo e this place. Just based on the name of the establishment, one has certain expectations. As in all of Denton, parking is a problem. Had to drop my wife off at the door and find a place to park. Ended up a block away. Once stepping foot in the restaurant, I expected to be greeted at the front to be seated with my wife. I had to walk in as no one noticed me. I was finally directed to where my wife was already seated. She had been there for 10-15 minutes already and had not been greeted by a server or asked what she wanted to drink. We had to get the attention of another server to get someone to our table. Once he came, we asked for water and put in our drink order. The water was room temperature with no ice. From this point, things got a a bit better. Once we ordered and the food came, it was decent. The stars at this place are the numerous margaritas and bar drinks. I had numerous choices to take my wife out for her birthday, and I chose Wild Cactus. I probably would not go again. I know they are still under kitchen construction, so I give them a bit of a pass. The food was good and plentiful. I would have liked more chicken alternatives as my spouse is not as prone to eat beef or brisket. The menus dont necessarily let one have chicken/beef opportunities. The presentation was just okay. The atmosphere and other patrons seemed to be upbeat, and the background music was pleasant. I think this would be a good spot. Once they get their act together, I think they might be a great place to dine and have fun. Kid-friendliness: There was a party with 4 or 5 kids having a birthday celebration. I consider this place to be kid friendly based on observations of this large group.

If you come expecting a margarita joint with apps, you wont be disappointed. If you come expecting a full fledged Mexican restaurant with all that entails, you will be disappointed. The queso was like nacho cheese from concession stands with 3 slivers of brisket added. Tinga tostadas had cold dry chicken tinga. Birria tacos were okay and the saving grace of the meal, but still not that great. There are plenty of better Mexican food places in denton.

We love Wild Cactus Cantina in Denton! The owners have done a fantastic job of renovating the place. The decor and furniture give it a relaxed but mid-century modern vibe with a touch of old Mexico. The margaritas are top notch and the flavors are infused in-house. The birria tacos are my favorite! This last time we had the Huarache Mexicano which was delicious! Highly recommend for a night on the downtown square!

I left HUNGRY! Birria tacos were very tiny and very expensive. Quesadillas were ok, but very expensive. The smallest margarita I have ever seen was $10. 2 people total was $40, plus another $6 to stop at Jack in the box to fill up right after leaving. It looks like the food is prepared in a taco truck parked right outside. What is that all about!?! As for the service. Waitress was repulsive. Bad attitude. She arrived with hideously, long, fake nails. One can only wonder how many boogars were stuck under those, and an arm full of tattoos. Clearly, she is starving for attention, but not for her customers. If you have something to say, SPEAK UP! No need to make a billboard of your body. I do not want to be served by a woman that looks like a drunken sailor. Dont get me started on those idiotically , long eyelashes. Cant help but laugh. She proceeded to grope the top of our water bottle with those nasty fingers when she slammed it on the table. This place is aesthetically pleasing, seats are uncomfortable, probably to get rid of you, but the food and drinks are not worth half of what we paid. This place is a woke joke! Checked this place out Saturday for Happy Hour from 4-6pm, their Happy Hour are Monday-Sat., 4-6pm. I noticed the place was seat yourself during Happy Hour before 6pm, after 6pm, it seemed to have switched to wait to be seated . If you re planning on checking it out after 6pm, make reservations for sure it did start to get busier promptly after 6pm. The plates are smaller and shareable here and the place is very scenic, lots of great ambience for you take a few pics for your IG! The place is similar to a Tapas Bar to me, great selection of food and drinks. The only negative I had leaving was paying for the chips and salsa, however, you get three different salsas and tostadas as your chips. It is way better tasting than just the regular house red salsa at a typical Tex-Mex place.

Stood at the front for 10 minutes just to be turned away. I counted 6 four tops and 4 five-seven top tables empty but the host informed me our only options are to sit in the bar due to there only being two of us she followed up that statement with they are about to get really busy and don t normally sit just two people at a large table. I stopped in after work for a quick visit to scope things out. I wish I could have stayed longer. Current updates to the bar/atmosphere. The bartender (Cole) was great conversation and attentive to all. Ill be back soon.

Great spot with a great staff! If you love tequilla this is your spot. They have custom tequilla infusions and creations. You can even try a ghost pepper infused shot ! Must visit when visiting the square.

Really nice cantina. Music is always on point (MGMT, The Killers, Cage the Elephant, etc.) with great song choices. Their house margarita is the best Ive had in Denton at that sweet price point of $5. Wait staff is nice and attentive. The vibes of this place are off the charts. If you like tequila or margaritas definitely check this place out.

First visit, the bartender was very rude and wanted to charge me drinks that I didnt drink and then had the nerve to tell me he wasnt going to give me my change back. A manager came over and was cool, understanding, and made things right. Its crazy that alot of employees could care less about customer service or even people these days.
