Just left the SMU location (first time here, as I usually go to the Wycliff location). My roll had lots of plastic wrapping inside (I was pulling plastic out of my mouth). How awful! The server didnt have a manager come over to address the issue, nor did she comp the entrée. She apologized and said there were new cooks. I will NEVER come back to this location.

OISHI SUSHI & PAN-ASIAN || DALLAS (SMU location) WHAT THEY RE KNOWN FOR: very popular sushi restaurant with multiple locations across the DFW metroplex. THE VIBE: really small interior with patio seating. Recommend a reservation on weekends. PRICE: varied per person but we honestly got way too much food LOL. Average should be $20-$50 per person based on cocktails and quantity. WOULD I COME BACK? Yes. Overall Rating: 8.5/10 - Great sushi spot with TONS of choices for sushi lovers AND non-sushi lovers. There s just so many options you really can t go wrong. - Please get a lychee martini their martinis were absolutely phenomenal! - Space was limited, I had a reservation but it didn t work out but they were accommodating setting another reservation but this place was extremely busy on the weekends which is good for them! - The thing that stood out to me was the service here! The hostesses were nice when I brought a birthday cake for my friend. The server was so friendly. They really made this casual restaurant such a beautiful experience! I love the employees here!

Thanks for the food poisoning: Went on a Thursday night with my wife and the restaurant was extremely warm. We had them remake an item that had a funny taste and ate it the 2nd time even though it still didn t taste right. My wife and I both ended up getting food poisoning and were sick all the next day. I called and asked for a refund for our $175 meal and the manager said she would look into it. She never called me back and I found a $40 credit on my credit card statement. Pretty petty to legitimately poison me with bad sushi and not even refund the whole bill. I asked the manager if the food may have gone bad from being premade. She said when they get complaints about the food that she ll go taste it to see if it s gone bad. In short she admitted that they pre-make sushi based items and use it for several days. I might be done with sushi for a minute but done with Oishii for good. If you get someone sick, refund the bill!

My friend and I went for lunch. She had never been. Ive been many times. About an hour into our lunch, we were sitting talking, no guests standing waiting for a table. A waitress, not ours, walks over and asks if were done and would we need to go containers, in the midst of our lunch. I said well I guess we do since your rushing us and she nodded her head, to say yes. She brought the containers and then proceeded to grab our plates from our hands to put the food in the container and when we declined her help, she literally stood there and waited until we were done putting our food away. I told her she could go because she wasnt our wasnt our waitress anyway and she just stood there making is both uncomfortable. Oishii is such a great place and the although our waiter was superb, this waitresses behavior was disappointing.

Went here on a whim. It was pretty full and people seemed to be having a good time, very nice atmosphere. The calamari had a hair (sent it back, no big deal) and the next one was cold and the breading soggy, we had to stop eating it. Service was ok, our server seemed busy and kept herself at the bar area so we had to get our own straws and napkins.

The sushi and the service here are great. One of my favorite spots in Dallas. I would say that the SMU and Wycliff location have the most uncomfortable long cushion seats (smu against the window wall) and (wycliff against the far right wall) . You sink down low and bad for posture, so I always hate when I get those tables. Im surprised they havent changed them out by now.

Called in to question and they said I could come in and re-order later when they were less busy. Not sure how I would know when that would be. Don t understand how management doesn t know how many tables/seats they have and staff accordingly. Hopefully they know how to allocate resources well enough to keep things clean and sanitary ..but they can t do it well enough to provide food to paying customers with confirmed orders.

Then I got the 2 pieces and saw it had eel sauce on it. I ate the vote and was extremely disappointed my other friend ate hers and definitely was disappointed. We told not only the server and the manager how it was not up to the standards the restaurant presents it. They still choose to keep it on the bill. I will not be going back because their desire to disappoint their own food and lie about quality of a specific product being delicious.

Great first visit at Osihii!! We ate here for a birthday dinner and was luckily seated upon arrival (with reservation) for a group of six immediately. Our server, Alfredo, was very friendly and welcoming, providing tasty selection of the menu for our first visit. Really enjoyed the taste and texture of the fresh sashimi and seared fish. Atmosphere in the restaurant was very cozy and decorated warmly for the winter holiday. The menu had a variety of dishes from sushi, to noodles, to soups, and rice dishes. Best dish we ordered in my opinion was the flower roll. The calamari for the appetizer and stir fry could ve been more crispy, came out a bit soggy, and the green sauce was a bit saltier than what we preferred. Overall, great selection and taste for everyone. Had a wonderful celebration out! We hope to visit again soon! Parking: Small parking lot, there are spaces for street parking as well

Came to Oishii for a friend s 26th birthday celebration that we had booked for over week in advance. When our server first came over, she asked if we d be having anything to drink and we all proceeded to order wine and cocktails. Mind you, we were celebrating a birthday and one of us had brought the bday girl a bottle of wine that was sitting on the table. She asks for our IDs and after checking them, she hands all of them back to us besides the birthday girls . She says that she needs to check the validity of the ID with her manager. We don t sweat it because we re all over the age of 21 and have been for a few years now. Our server comes back to the table to tell us that her manager said the ID is fake and that they can t serve her. We proceed to tell her that her ID is definitely real and that we d like to speak with the manager. He comes over to our table and we all tell him that there s no way her ID is fake and if there was a scanner or something that we could do to prove to him that she s of legal drinking age. He tells us no repeatedly and says that because her ID is a bit worn (some of the plastic was peeling) that he could not accept her ID. The girl has had this ID for like 6 years .come on dude give her a break. It also sits in a wallet in the back of her phone so it s obviously going to have some wear and tear. So there s no way Brett is going to serve us, so we decide to leave. Before we do so, a group of young girls sitting at the table behind us are telling us that they were never asked to show their IDs. They asked if we were actually 21 and up and we said yes of course. We would not be fighting this hard with them if our IDs were fake. So I asked them the same question. Are you all 21 or over? Guess what. They said no. So while us 26 year olds are being refused service, these probably 19-20 year old girls were not only NOT asked to show their IDs, they weren t even 21!!! When we confronted the manager with this he claimed that this wasn t possible .LOL. Every girl at that table had something to drink so either you re telling me that they decided to risk getting in trouble by telling me that they were under 21 OR your waitstaff does not have consistent practices and decides to card whoever they want to. Absolutely unacceptable. If you are going to have a policy, you must enforce it for every single guest. So glad we did not give them our business. The birthday girl had a MUCH better time at Little Katana.

Our waiters walked past us while we looked for help and held onto our menus. No one, not a single soul asked if we needed help. The service our waiters provide make a difference with the customers experience. I will only come back on slower days and with my favorite waiter, Dat. Dat was fantastic last time I came. I have been to this restaurant several times in person and it was phenomenal. Which prompted me to order from Uber Eats. Apparentky this is $108 of takeout. IN STYROFOAM. Who puts sushi in foam??? As a result the sushi absorbed the poor taste of plasticy foam that was produced by heating and expanding tiny beads of plastic, and in repeated exposure can cause A HEALTH RISK. Gross Oishii, you want to charge SMU prices then pack your food SMU priced level. Come on now.

Oishii never disappoints. It has become our go to spot for sushi. Their sushi is always fantastic! If sushi isnt your thing, then their generals chicken with fried rice is amazing!

I had stopped into Oishii under recommendation of a friend and unfortunately, I was less than impressed. I give this place a solid 3 out of 5 stars. Justification for my rating is as follows: Ambience: 5/5 stars. Great decor, vibe and pleasant outside patio. I enjoyed this aspect. Service: 3/5 stars. Came at lunch and restaurant was light-moderately busy and it took over 30 minutes to get two sushi rolls. We had to ask for the General Manager to get an update as to why such a small order was taking so long. The server was nice but just didnt check on us or communicate as to why it was taking such a long time for a small lunch order. At the end, the two sushi rolls were discounted by 25% which is honorable and is why I decided on 3 stars instead of 2 stars for the service. Quality/Taste: 3/5 stars. We ordered the Uptown roll and the Gensei (sp?) roll. Both were right at about $20 a piece. I was less than impressed. It may have been a slight notch above the sushi that I get from Central Market, for about half the price if not less. Dont get me wrong, it was good sushi but the rolls were rather lackluster in appearance, taste and ingredients, for the price point and the given competition with sushi restaurants in the area. I noticed that all the rolls on the menu seems to be some slight variation of crab salad mix, salmon and tempura. Not very creative, diverse or imaginative, given what Ive experienced at many other sushi restaurants in the area. Price Point: 2/5 stars. Sushi rolls for the nicer special rolls on the backside of the menu, were all simplistic and contained some rearrangement of the same common ingredients (salmon, tuna, tempura). No real finishing touches on the plate in terms of things like sauces, roe, etc. Despite this, the rolls ranged from $16ish, to over $20 a roll. Wasnt impressed by this. I also noted that the sushi wasnt actually rolled it was layered and fell apart very easily when picked up with chopsticks. Just, well, seemed like shortcuts get taken. Overall it was ok but not impressed and Im just not inclined to return. I will go to Fujimaya or especially Sa Sa Sushi any day of the week and always be blown away in all rating categories. Parking: Reasonably good parking lot size given the super crowded/confined area in which the restaurant is located.

I dined here today for the first time, and ordered the ceviche, an unusual item to see on a sushi menu. What I received was one of the most beautiful, creative, and delicious dishes I have ever eaten in any sushi restaurant, anywhere. The environment is beautiful, and the service is excellent. Highly recommended.

The sushi rolls I ordered (uptown roll, Himalayan roll, Caesar roll) and crab rangoons were delicious. Seemed like they may have been a little shorthanded on waiters because ours seemed rushed. The man preparing the sushi and sashimi asked 3 times if the food was okay. Typical sushi place as far as decor goes.

My husband and I love this place - it s on our regular dinner rotation for delicious Asian cuisine. Everything we ve eaten here - from rolls, sushi, and stir fried menu items - has been wonderful. Good drinks too. Great service and friendly staff as well. So nice to have a place like this in our area of the city. Love that the restaurant is open on Sunday evenings as well.

Food was fine. Softdrinks were by the can so you paid for each refill. Much like parking lot, tables were on top of each other. Very loud. Parking was bad and we parked on street. Server was very nice and attentive

The rolls here are so fun and creative! The Himalayan roll (which comes on a block of salt!) is the first time Ive had a riceless roll, and the crunch of the cucumber made sure it stood out. The tuna watermelon was a big surprise - definitely worth trying, though I preferred the Tanh scallop roll.

Just a catastrophe for a business lunch! Three menus for a party of 7. Food took forever to arrive and they forgot the order of one member of our party. And if you are on a business lunch where everyone needs to pay separately, in a party that exceeds 6, you are just SOL: not only do they not do separate checks, they refuse to split the bill more than 6 ways. F-u, thats your problem! Just shut up and pay the 20% service charge they add to the bill!

I am a regular at Oishii until today. To give some perspective, I come here regularly with my family and I also do large to go orders for family events. I went today with my cousin and her daughter. The problem began and ended with one of the rudest human beings posing as a server I have ever seen. She seemed to have a major problem with having to return an order and actually stood next to our table to complain to a coworker about us. I asked for the manager and aside from a weak effort at an apology and sending a different server, he did nothing. It s a real shame because the food was actually good. Done with Oishii.

If you like Kona grilled sushi, this place is for you. If you like good sushi, feel free to click on my profile for other reviews. The best dish is the spicy edamame. The spicy sauce gives a little bit of a kick, not enough to be spicy--so its perfect. The Rangoon is decent. Ive had better, but Ive had worse as well. Normally, I would rank each dish from worst to best, but all the rolls were so bad that I only two pieces each to write this review. The ingredients were not fresh, the cucumbers were dry, the rolls needed to be rolled tighter, and the taste was overall wrong. One of the sushi could use eel sauce just to offset the extreme saltiness. Lets dive in: The cajun roll was super dry. I recommend changing how crawfish is cooked. Maybe consider adding eel sauce to add a bit of sweet to it. Maybe check out Little Katana in Irving and see how they do their crawfish roll. The spider roll. I think this sí the worst soft shell crab Ive ever had. The avocado was the only good part. Overall, it was extremely dry, and all you tasted us was the cucumber, which should be cut thicker to preserve the juices. The rainbow row. This roll is a test of how fresh the ingredients are. Unfortunately, this was a huge fail as the fish were not fresh. The problem holds true with all rolls and especially this one, the rolls need to be rolled tighter. The dragon roll. Again, the same problem with the rest. Its just not good.

1st time: We ordered to go. Staff was friendly. Sushi was delicious, but also expensive. We were charged a 10% fee that I didn t learn about until after I had already paid. If you are going to charge a fee on to go orders be upfront about it. I found it annoying that it was slipped in without my knowledge. Overall I would still recommend it.
