The food was good, if a little plain (it s a hotel restaurant if you didn t know). That d be fine but the service was atrociously bad. I m not sure if the server was overloaded or the kitchen was slow, but it took over 30 minutes to get the first set of drinks and over 75 minutes to receive dinner. We almost missed our show because of it. Worse, we barely were taken care of. Water came by 1 time the entire 2 hours we were there. The whole experience felt lacking. You can do better, even for hotel restaurants.

The red snapper was the best Ive had in Dallas. The breaded pork chop was good too. We tipped the excellent waitress for the cost of our free anniversary flourless chocolate cake beyond the standard 20%. The pianist and singer performed well too. Well definitely return. This restaurant, which is in the Hall Arts Hilton, is perfect for Dallas Arts District patrons.

Great atmosphere and comfortable seating. I love all the windows. My chicken was perfectly cooked but the roasted potatoes under it had no flavor. The brussel sprouts were good and great to share with 4 people. The salmon was great, the chop salad was very good. The one thing that bothered me the most, is... here we are, at a nice place and every pen we were handed was broken and shouldnt been thrown away.

Beautiful restaurant. Friday night dinner and the restaurant wasn t very busy, but there was a private event in a back room. The service was slowed down once the server realized we d be taking our time. We had to ask repeatedly for water refills. The live music was a singer with an acoustic guitar and fit well with the ambience. We were seated right behind her and it was not too loud. The food was generally well-prepared and presented, but I felt the price point was a tad high for what we got. The standouts were the lemony hummus app, the corn chowder, and the snapper. They did charge a 20% service charge for a table of 5. I ve noticed this is happening more regularly at hotel restaurants, and do not understand why. Overall, I think it s a lovely place to have dinner if you re staying at the hotel or going to a show down the block, but there are more wow worthy spots nearby if you re looking for a special experience.

Such a beautiful restaurant and the perfect option after going to the ballet at the Moody Performance Hall. It s just a short walk from all the art venues around. Great food and beautiful vibes. Staff is always very friendly and their drinks are delicious. They close later than most restaurants around there so it s perfect for a night cap.

I was exited for the place because of the live jazz but I won t be back. We came for brunch and both got the burger which we ordered medium. It came out beyond well done charred Jerkey . I would have told the server if he would have done the standard, how is everything? check in but he never came by to ask how the food was. Had to flag down other wait staff to get things we needed like refills on drinks. I can see why this place was more than half empty on a Sunday during brunch time. Just very lack luster. The second star is only for the truffle deviled eggs which were to die for.

The live jazz was enjoyable. The food was not. We both ordered the burger and ordered it medium. Both burgers came out well done and mine was missing some of the items I ordered to be on it. The burgers also came out with little to no sauce. If you venture out to this place do not get the burger. Even if cooked right, I dont think it would have been that good.

This is a hotel restaurant - we were not aware. They seemed to have low staff for the amount of patrons so service was slow but they were friendly and pleasant. The food was ok but we were expecting more flavor. Tuna poke bowl, caprese panini and hummus. Nothing was bad just very average and did not meet our expectations. Very nice location in downtown Dallas and very walkable.

The overall look both interior/exterior was appealing but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the Pork Milanese which basically tasted like it had been breaded & poorly fried...no salt/pepper or seasoning of any kind, very bland. The accompanying tri-color salad was the same, no kind of dressing whatsoever. I had to ask for something so that I could get it down so our server brought me some type of Balsamic dressing that was as thick as BBQ sauce but at least it helped b/c I was determined to finish this overpriced unimpressive meal. My cocktail was tasty w/a decent amount of alcohol so that saved the meal along w/some rolls that one of my other friends shared w/the table. All in all, Im not motivated to return so I doubt that Ill give it another try. I work too hard for my money to just waste it on dull food. I must say our server Sydney was superb His attentiveness & customer service saved it from being a completely disappointing dining experience. My intent is not to be rude, just honest.

For an exorbitant amount of money, we were served with a limp, lackluster dinner. The famous fries came out lukewarm, disappointing enough. Then the salad had a few whole lettuce leaves, a tiny drop of dressing (literally one small drop) and one, count em, little anchovy. The shrimp were the kind you get at Sams, no texture or taste, with no improvement with cooking, pale and insipid. Hard to throw away your money on such low quality. Luckily, the ambiance and show helped alleviate a little of the sting.

I had a reservation for Easter Brunch on March 31st. I was charged $75 to book the reservation more than two weeks ago. The amount was not taken off the bill, and i was told by the staff the amount would be refunded. I understand this is not immediate and waited a few days. I called three consecutive days and was told the manager was busy, in a meeting, or will call back by end of the night. I cannot even get a return call or find someone in the restaurant to refund the charge. I followed up with an email on April 7th and there is still no resolution. There are many other options in the city to choose for special occasions with better food and don t require their customers to call three days in a row for something as simple as returning a charge to secure a reservation.

I was charged on March 3rd $50 to book a reservation with Ellies. The customer experience of having to contact the restaurant multiple times with no follow up after being told the manager would contact me is unacceptable. I have provide the screenshot of the charge. The charge says this would come off the bill, but it never did. Essentially my party paid double $79.03 PLUS THE $50 CHARGE JUST TO BOOK for a very mid brunch. DO NOT EAT HERE!

This spot is in the Hall Arts Hotel. Located in the Dallas Arts district. Ellies pays homage to Craig Halls mother, Ellie, a trailblazer for womens rights and a passionate advocate for art. Ellies Terrace provides a picturesque cocktail setting overlooking the Texas Sculpture Walk and a captivating James Welling mural. We had the cheese board, artichoke ravioli, tuna tartare and radicchio salad. Everything was superb. This spot shimmers and sparkles! Loved it!

The servers and hostess were some of the greatest people I ve met since visiting Dallas! The atmosphere is calming and elegant, and scenery is beautiful. The food options were nice as well. I had several meals here, but breakfast was my favorite! However the sweet potatoes fries were really burnt. And I m not sure why, but the interactions with the shorter/older bartender were not as great as the interactions that he had with others around me. I can t quite put my finger on why but it felt very noticeable. He wasn t rude and he was polite but it felt colder and shorter towards me. I m very polite and kind of quiet so I don t believe it was anything that I could ve done. The taller/younger bartender did great making me feel welcomed for dinner. I would recommend this establishment.

The staff, especially the director of food and beverage, went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. Not only was the service impeccable, but we were also pleasantly surprised when a delightful array of desserts arrived at our table, compliments of the house. Each dessert was a taste sensation, reflecting the chefs creativity and skill. The gesture truly enhanced our celebration, making it even more memorable. The attention to detail, exceptional service, and delectable cuisine showcased Ellies dedication to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Ellies Restaurant and Lounge to anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience. Thank you for making my birthday celebration truly magical! Lets start from the call for the reservation. Service for that was top notch for sure very accommodating. I found out they have a valet thats only $5 if youre eating at the restaurant or I believe, staying at the hotel. We went on a Sunday for brunch for my sisters birthday. The staff from the time we arrived were very professional, and accommodating. Our waitress at first was a little bit more reserved initially ,however very accommodating. As time went on she became more personable we loved her. Management was clearly on the ball to accommodate all the guests around us. The jazz band was amazing, the atmosphere amazing, the artwork amazing, the bathrooms amazing, food very good. Great choices for all food preferences. I dont eat meat and the vegan burger was fantastic along with the sweet potato fries. The only thing I would say regarding one dish we ordered was, the butternut squash soup. It was great, but just a little bit spicier than wed hope. ( They do call it spicy butternut squash soup lol)Our server said it wasnt that spicy.lol We sent it back and they removed it no problem. All in all the four of us had a wonderful time it was a great experience, we will be back again and again!

The entire staff at this restaurant and hotel are polite, on-point, and go above and beyond. There is a high energy vibe throughout the full restaurant and bar, and yet one is able to slip away and connect to or reflect on one of the many contempory pieces of art on display. Parking: I highly recommend the valet parking. If you have your ticket validated before you leave, its $5. Cash, Venmo, or CashApp only. ATM on site. Wheelchair accessibility: Between valet and doorperson, one wont have any issue at the door. Smooth flooring, elevator, ramps, and bistro tables and chairs, and generous space.

We came here for valentines day. There was a great atmosphere due to the musician but took off a point for the host who was rude. We were originally seated right by the bar, who was filled by loud people tonight, so we asked if it were possible to be seated a little further from them to which the male host said give me a moment. and walked away. as he was about to walk away, i asked sorry, should we follow you? and he just firmly repeated himself give me a moment . I understand if youre busy, but to have an attitude with me in front of my date on a special occasion was very inconsiderate and just a mood ruiner! My fiancé and I moved past it though and had a great server named chelsea. She was very kind! Our food however took literally an hour to get to us. We were starving by the time it came out. This was a nice outing but for the amount of food that I received this would not be a place on my return visit list. One would expect when you go to one of the alleged best restaurants in Dallas, you would have a singular experience. The experience was singular alright, singularly poor and disappointing. This was our Christmas party which everyone was in holiday mode. It started with the waitress who when asked if the salmon was wild-caught, she answered an affirmative yes, only to come back our table to inform us it was not. Then it went downhill from there as did our trust in her recommendations. She was inattentive and we had to flag her whenever we needed something( which was more often than needed to be). Then my main course roasted duck came. It was tough, and had a funny taste, almost inedible. The ribs were pretty mediocre, as was the salad. And the whole meal for our party was very expensive and frankly overpriced. I felt a little cheated like we were paying for the view of the art( which admittedly was beautiful) with a meal thrown in as an afterthought. Online research shows Ellie s to be one of the top restaurants in Dallas. This is simply not true. I felt quite deceived. For the service and food, I d rate it 1 star. For the ambiance-5 stars.

The server stopped by my table only one time and she was busy with other tables. As I am Asian, I felt this was very racism. She was busy with all other American tables. (It would have been sent back had we not been pressed for time.) The fourth entree didnt arrive as the server had neglected to put in the order. They scrambled and brought out that order. (We were not charged for that entree.) No servers stopped to fill water glasses, offer more coffee, or clear plates. A conversation with the manager yielded a lot of excuses but no apologies. I ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad, and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. No where on the description did it mention lettuce, so I was expecting mostly tomatoes and cucumbers. What I received was a bowl of lettuce, 2 halved cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, burrata, miniscile dressing, and about 5 pita chips, no larger than nickels. I paid $10 extra for shrimp, so the total was $34 dollars for the worst salad I have had in my life. Horrible food.

I m telling all my friends in Dallas to check it out. We visited on a day they have Burgers at half price and we didn t even spend $40 for two. It s really affordable. I heard their Egg Benedict is to die for. Go early for Breakfast. Vegetarian options: They do have veggies options Parking: $5 an hour Lots of parking spot. Guest parking spot. Do remember to validate your ticket from where you go. Otherwise parking is $10 Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.

My boyfriend took my little sister and I here this past Sunday for brunch around 11:30am. Service was literally the server just asking us what we wanted and then drop off food after like 25 min of waiting for honestly pricy breakfast food that was not even hot to the touch and then to drop off the check. Not once where we asked if we needed anything else or if the food had came out to our liking. Not once. Place was not packed or understaffed. I got the breakfast sandwich and honestly nothing special. My little sister had the hash bowl and all she had to say was that at least the bacon was crunchy. My boyfriend had the burger and he thoroughly enjoyed it he said it was juicy and his fries were good. I personally would not come back here again especially after a $20 tip was added to my card without my consent. I always tip cash and at the least 20% because I know servers are not taxed on it. I contacted Ellie s on Tuesday letting them know about it and spoke to Bryan who said was the director of beverage and food and would get this fixed after I provided him with my check receipt number which is one of the main reasons I keep my receipts because I do not tip on my card. I was contacted on Wednesday afternoon by a server asking for my email which would reflect my updated receipt with the correct amount but I was not provided with an explanation to why that tip was added without my consent. Besides all this the art in the hotel was worth coming by and seeing.

Sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly and provided great service. Food was very slow. 45 minutes after ordering I was told they were out of the salmon I ordered. Also out of the branzino. So no fish. I switched to the chicken, which was dry and overcooked, and took another 45 minutes to arrive. Came with gnocchi that was also dry. So, nice bar. Skip the food.

I have been here twice now and have had amazing experiences both times! The first time I visited as for a Sunday brunch around Christmas time. There was a 3 piece live jazz band and the apple cider mimosas were phenomenal! They also have a mezcal sour made with pinapple, lemon, agave and egg whites which I highly recommend! The second time was for lunch this past week, and the experience was amazing. I had the Sonoma Chicken Sandwich which included grilled chicken, fire roasted peppers, mango, and chimichurri on an herb ciabatta. I will definitely be ordering it again!! I also look forward to returning soon so I can try their sweet and sour tamarind chicken, lemon & English pea risotto, and sweet corn & marjoram ravioli!!!! Aside from the amazing food and drinks, the atmosphere, lighting and ambiance during the daytime is absolutely gorgeous! I even noticed that their patio was slightly shaded and had air conditioning as well. I can t wait to bring more people back!!!

The atmosphere was nice, and its not a spot I would recommend or go back to. Parking: Parking attendees didnt say if you get ticket validated, itll cost $5 instead of $20. They only accepted cash and venmo, and I didnt have either. I made several calls to help me pay. My cousin, who I joined came to my rescue and them they said I could go ahead. I stood in the heat for a while, Im grateful but wishing they wouldnt have allowed me to go through all of that.

We went last night for our 10 year anniversary dinner with high expectations. Drinks were good. The Isreali Brik Cigars were delicious. The charcuterie board was.....meh. Unfortunately, our entrees were....terrible. My husband got the gnocchi with pesto. Ive never seen gnocchi served that way. ..like they were going for halfway deconstructed, but just ended up missing the mark with a cold dollop of pesto off to the side. I got the scallops. They were poorly cooked, and the cabbage/bacon/cream stuff was not good at all. The cabbage was SWIMMING in lukewarm cream sauce and I ended up leaving half of the scallops and most of everything else on the plate. The trout roe also didnt quite taste right and there was WAY too much. Did not want to make a fuss at the time as service was moderately slow, we had been there for a while, and we had other plans for the evening, so we just skipped dessert, paid and left.

Loved the pork bao buns, charcuterie, mushroom soup and salads but the entrées were uniformly disappointing. Pricey ribeye with foie gras ordered rare turned out to be a gristley , thin piece of shoe leather cooked medium. Lamb was average, chicken was dry. and my wife left her scallops. The atmosphere and staff made it an enjoyable evening, but unfortunately, we won t be back.

We visited this super cool restaurant with family, definitely more of an upscale dining experience. The restaurant is in the arts district and part of it is a rooftop outside, very private feel as it wasnt very crowded. They give you plenty of heaters if it gets cold and the service was very good! Appetizers and meals are generous portions. I would recommend the cigar type eggroll for an appetizer. For dinner we loved the filet mignon and the scallop dish was one of the best Ive had. Highly recommend this place if you want a nice dinner that isnt right next to the downtown crowd.

Three of us ordered coffee, the waitress brought coffee for two of my friends, and when I asked if she was bringing coffee for me as well (just to double-check if she has noticed my order as she was not writing down anything), she replied with a rude remark, saying that she only had two hands!!! We had bruschetta board, salmon, fillet mignon and ribeye steak. Everything was good but ribeye steak was top notch. Juicy and soft. Melting in the mouth. It came with grilled roots salad and basil pesto. So fresh and good. Salmon was okay but it came with grilled lobster pieces which was amazing. Staff were nice and very attentive. Our Valentine s dinner at Ellie s was a horrible experience! Being health conscious my husband and I avoid red meat so we ordered Shepherd s Chicken Pie from their limited Valentine s menu. What we got was pieces of stale (probably leftover from days before) topped with the most disgusting mashed potato (with an artificial taste). We returned home with upset stomach and feeling queasy all night long. If Google allowed a more objective scoring system we would have selected -10 for Ellie s. We will not step into this restaurant ever again and warn all of our family and friends about it!

I went by around the time the hotel first opened for happy hour and hadn t been back until today since I ve been working remotely. Now that I live near my workplace next to the hotel, I thought I d check out one of their weekday events in the hopes of making it a go-to spot. The event was advertised as including complimentary champagne and lite bites. I reserved nearly a month ago. The experience today was full of false advertisements, awkward glances by the staff, and incorrect checks. First, I showed up at 5:30 since that was the time advertised on the Ellie s website, but the reservation link apparently marked me for 6:30PM. The hostess first told my guest and me to stand by the busy bar to wait for the event, but then she said the event would be held outside. She finally sat us at a table but provided confusing information about the event. Our server was nice and attentive, confirming the event would be inside and later confirming the event would include complimentary bites and champagne. We ordered drinks, which was an ordeal of its own since the menu was different online, and waited for the event. Once it started, you could hardly hear anything from the speaker since most of the guests in the lounge were clearly not there for the event. A drink also had to be returned since it was far from what was ordered. We closed our tab one hour later after having received nothing complimentary except a check that did not include that half off happy hour prices. I want to reiterate that our server was friendly, but clearly there is an issue with trust and delivery of service at this establishment. I can t say that I ll never go back, but it certainly will not be a place I consider with my colleagues. I still overtipped at over 30%, but I wish I could ve had an experience worthy of tipping more and worthy of making this a short evening walk from the office. Parking: No easy parking.
