Seating is first come, first served. And there s not enough of it. Small place. They don t carry everything in their bar. Small food menu and the food was ok. A different kind of crowd comes in later and it gets so crowded in there. I asked for a reservation but was told they don t do them. While there, waiting on a table that the staff said would be available soon, other people took the seats before we could get to them. And nothing was said to them by the staff. Every person for themself here. The website says they enforce the dress code, but it s not enforced. There was a guy in shorts, sandals, and a Fanny pack! The library area has a cool vibe early in the evening before the crowd is there.

You walk in and this place has such a good vibe- the first area is a more chill, nice library feel and the second room a kind of retro loungey feel. The music is always great and puts you in a good mood along with the environment. It s great to go for a date or with a group of friends. You can either chitchat and still have that loungey feel or dance to the music with some good cocktails. I met the manager of operations, Liz- and she has always been so welcoming to me and my friends. Makes you feel at home and taken care of! Definitely a must place to try

I went to Babou s with a girlfriend and it was pretty awesome. It was a Saturday night and when we got there it was quite full but not packed.. it got much busier about an hour in so my advice would be to go early. The dj played some nice tunes nothing too cheesy or commercial so I didn t feel like I was somewhere that caters to a younger crowd but rather more mature and that was appreciated. Great place for date night! People were dressed chic so definitely a place to people watch. The service was great, cocktails were yummy although a bit on the more expensive side. The staff was attentive and sweet and the GM was nice enough to stop by and chat with us/welcome us which is an always a great touch. We felt at home! Thank you for the hospitality! Definitely coming back.

Babou s is a marvelous place for a sweet meet and greet amongst friends. It epitomizes sexy, swanky, and classy all in one keeping in rhyme with the natural beauty of Hotel Swexan. The drinks are wonderfully crafted, and very tasteful. The servers/bartenders are wonderful and attentive. I had an espresso martini with tequila blanco and it was the perfect drink to capture the true essence and nature that is known as Babou s. Babou s has quickly become a Dallas favorite of mine and I praise the way it speaks for itself. I would especially commend how unique and lively the nature of Babou s is in itself ranging from decor, the craft cocktails, the music, and the location. As a newcomer to Dallas, it was a highly pleasurable time for my friend and I, and I look forward to going back.

Terrible vibes at this pretentious club masquerading as a speakeasy. To start, there is a strict dress code policy that doesn t allow women to wear flat shoes or men without collar shirts. If you do end up inside, it is difficult to enjoy the eclectic atmosphere due to security guards constantly watching you and giving the place a real uptight vibe. The drinks are way overpriced at $22 for an old fashioned and the whole time felt like we were being watched. On the flip side, the hotel lobby bar was a much more enjoyable experience.

Bartenders are very rude and they think they are doing you a favor when they are actually serving you. This place wants to pretend is a high class lace when is actually trashy. For the price you re paying for the drinks and food is not worth it.

My wife and I have yet to try it out and I know it s got a few bad reviews but I also noticed the owner responded To every review and offered to make things right. That s very unusual for a nightclub and it makes me all the more eager to want to go check it out.

Always told family to stay at this hotel, not anymore. Allowed one of us in with the same shoes as me and denied me because I had a different color of shoes not nearly high end enough for that type of exclusivity a waste of time more than any bar in Dallas. Would rather go to a dive bar than waste my money there never met ruder people

A shame that a place that has so much potential is wasting away into another trash bar with terrible service and overpriced drinks. With the original team running Stillwell s you could walk in sporadically at night, greet everyone at the bar, then get yourself a table outside on the patio and have a great round of drinks and catch up with the staff. Apparently this is a foreign concept to the new team, who will stare at your party as you walk through an empty bar to the patio, stare at you through the patio doors repeatedly after you are sitting down, and proceed to let you sit there for 20 minutes before you go back inside and ask if you can trouble someone to check if we would like to order, and then be told you have to go back and check in with the front desk if you d like to be served drinks, the same front desk I had already spoken to as I entered the restaurant. About 4 were people eating inside at that time, making the customer-to-staff ratio about 1:2, and it didn t occur to anyone standing around that maybe they should at the very least ask the table they keep staring at outside what they are doing there, and if by any possible chance it was related to being in a bar and wanting a drink, even if it was just to tell them that hey, not sure if you know, the hostesses haven t told us about y all ? After being told we had to go back to the hostess before the waiters could gain sentience, we decided enough of our time had already been wasted, and that maybe Babou s would be a better experience. As we exited the elevator my optimism was short lived, as I remembered we would need the approval of the Gestapo before we could enter. I ve been fortunate to have never been turned away from the door, but always forget how talking to this dude is about as fun as having someone fart in your mouth. After giving my drivers license, social security number, mother s maiden name, and next month s winning powerball numbers, we were let inside. As usual, and the exact opposite of what having such strict bouncers would make it seem, Babou s was almost completely empty, so we walked straight up to the bar and ordered a drink. No problems there, but cue my gasp when my friend orders a well tequila soda and is charged $25 before tip. Huh? How is the Ritz across the street now a comparatively more affordable option? I order a White Russian, which again, I didn t know would be a mistake, as I was then told, after a half made drink was sitting on the bar 5 minutes, that they were still looking for half and half, milk, or some sort of cream. Do y all not take inventory before doors open? We waited another 5 minutes, to which the bartender then asked if I d be okay with an espresso martini, or something else coffee related without the cream, which I said absolutely. He then turned it into an espresso martini, apologized for the wait, and offered it to me on the house awesome dude, he s great, was really nice of him to ask what else I d like and offer it free of charge. Just had to mention he specifically was great, but cmon, I mean like how does Babou s run a bar without having common ingredients ready to go?? Anyways, if you re a geriatric with too much money and not enough taste, Babou s is a great place to stand around weirdly placed couches with fellow seniors. The library has always been sick, though, so can t ding you for that, just a shame it doesn t have better drinks. Great place for cool pictures. See attached picture for proof of coolness, my hedgehog is named Jerry.

Probably the most comical, ridiculously overhyped, wannabe high-class bar Ive ever been to. The whole experience was comedy, but the real kicker was when I thought the bartender accidently charged my card for TWO glasses of red wine. We ordered our wine, paid, got our cards back but didnt get our checks (shady), I took a sip, my friend says, this tastes like airplane wine, I wonder how much they charged us. I went to get my check.. and I couldnt believe that I actually saw $32 for ONE glass of wine!!! The craziest part was, they only had 1 option of red wine to choose from and somehow they thought it was okay to charge $32 for it! I have gone to actual mixologist/cocktail lounges in NYC, speakeasys, restaurants all over and have never paid $32 for a glass of wine unknowing the bottle of wine. Also, there was cork in it! The atmosphere.. EMPTY for a Friday night.. Probably a total for 25 people at 11pm on a Friday. What a shame, I thought this place couldve been a great local bar for a night out or a night cap, but I will definitely never be returning and am appalled that the owners actually overcharge people like this- the bar is really not that cool and exclusive- its lame, not unique, and similar aesthetic to every other cocktail bar opening up in this area. ooo a library and disco balls - never seen that before!

2/15/24 I just felt ripped off. We went with a group of friends for dinner to Lexy s and then to Babou s for drinks. I ask the bartender for a malibu rum with pineapple or something similar, something sweet! He said let me do a drink for you and kept CC. time to pay and surprise $21.65 for 1 drink. a very small drink receipt doesn t even say what the drink was. but my tummy knows wasn t a good drink . Looks a nice place, and parking right next to it. At Lexy s Herb Roasted Salmon was $20 and Moscato $11.

Foggy, still the fabulous shines through! Babou s is a tale of complexity; Are we a lounge? Or are we trying to be a club? Are we striving for elegant, or settling for casual. The initial impression entering is one of early American, and European opulence; from the hardwood Parquet flooring, assorted upholstered seating, hand woven tapestry rugs & Helical stairs; The Library is elegantly practical, right down to the silver tray service, the smartly dressed staff, and diverse clientele. The adjoining room however is where the functionality of the design doesn t rise to the occasion. The kindest word I can use to prepare any visitor, is compact. Based on the desired marketing plan, I love the idea, of a DJ, with table, and bottle service, however presentation, and execution are paramount. The VIP staff I experienced, (Victoria, Aarin, and Nai) along with other staff members are the gems of Babou s, but they can only do so much. The well stocked standup up bar, minimalistic in both size, and customer flow area, offers little space to order or stand. The furnishings, although nice, sit much to low, not to feel your personal space invaded, while enjoying your cocktails. I wouldn t consider any area in Babou s a dance floor, but for those with deep pockets, and a reservation they offer true VIP seating. Always a plus for me, valet is offered, However an important FYI it s North Harwood, their website makes no distinction, and for those of us not from the area, I learned, there s definitely a difference between North, and South Harwood. I hope to enjoy Babou s with you soon; you already know where you ll find me. Xoxo Lorenzo!

Babous was amazing. From the beginning we were greeted by a door hostess Victoria. She briefly explained the experience and offered us seating in library or lounge. We didnt do a table but we will definitely have to do it next time! Dre, the manager was so kind and helpful. The drink, the scarlet letter was fantastic. You can tell they truly put their heart into making them, and the food was impeccable. I enjoyed the quesadillas the most. The ambiance was terrific, this might just be the best new spot in Dallas.

The vibes of this bar are misleading. The library aesthetic kind of hints towards a more chill, relaxed energy, but once you go in, you ll find that the DJ is playing EDM remixes of throwbacks in the worst sound quality you ve ever heard, with the bass cranked up all the way. In any case, the space is super cramped and the speakeasy vibe only goes as far as the first room, of which there are only two. Additionally, the minimum price for a drink here will run you 20 big ones. Can t tell if this is for a younger or older crowd, but it s definitely the vibes if you re looking for a bar that s trying to be a club. As another reviewer said, we already have a few spots in Dallas that are already like this. The bartenders are fast and skilled though!

This nightclub and speakeasy has a very classy yet 70 s-80 s style feel. The main club room is loud because of the DJ but you can still manage to have a conversation, drinks were great and well balanced, and the vibe was lively as well as respectable. The speakeasy has a hidden door and which you can host private events for whatever occasion you may be celebrating. In the speakeasy room the noise level is reduced greatly, which gives it a nice feel and more intimate setting. The staff is friendly and can make great cocktails, although the production rate to make cocktail needs to be quicker the bar did just open, so there are bound to be mishaps when you first open. Overall, I had a great time with the people, staff, music and drinks!!! Parking: It s complimentary parking with valet!

I went to Babou over the weekend, they just opened several days prior. There is a library section with cool seating and then a more club setting with the bar. To reserve a table would require doing the $1000 bottle service which is ridiculous. I went with a group and each of our drinks were underwhelming, they are $20 each. The music was all over the place, they had a DJ that played mostly edm type music. The music did not match the ambiance. I am not sure which crowd they are trying to cater too. I was expecting more high end feel but you can get the same experience in deep ellum. I had high hopes for this place. It did just open so maybe they will make adjustments but we have several places like this in Dallas already. The service as a whole was good. In the library area, someone did come around frequently. Most people were crammed in the open seating area. I cannot forsee myself going back there unless some changes were made.
