Sassetta was quite a pleasant experience. We were visiting from Austin and initially had reservations at the Crown Block at Reunion Tower until we started reading through the reviews and made an audible for Sassetta since we were already staying at The Joule Hotel. We didn t know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by Sassetta. The food here was pretty great and I would come back.

Very cute hotel restaurant. I liked it so much I brought my coworker the next night. The whipped ricotta was good, we asked for extra toasts as it came with only a few originally. The RADIATORI AL PESTO was amazing! I also got the PASTA DI AGNELLO ALLA BOLOGNESE and it was good but I think it was just too meaty for how hot it is in Dallas for me personally. They have a good selection of Italian and other wines. Highly recommend the tiramisu!!! It was so so so so delicious.

Went with friends to celebrate my wife s birthday, we had 4 kids with us and it was a wonderful and memorable evening. The food was more than on point and the service was exceptional Amanda the manager, Antonio, Jose our smiling server, the hostess at the entrance were very courteous, professional and very friendly - took personal care and Amanda came multiple times to check on us. We were so pleased that the table was set beautifully with a happy birthday card. Must try items are mussels ( the broth was so delicious - forgot to take a picture :) ) , gnocco Fritto, lobster spaghetti, radiatori pesto, duck breast, filet mignon and in desserts the tiramisu is not like a traditional tiramisu but a dense chocolate mousse with coffee gelato on the side which was enjoyed by adults and kids We will be back again - compliments and kudos to the Chef, staff and management at Sassetta - well done! Kid-friendliness: They made sure a good table was given to us where kids could be accommodated and our server Jose and the manger Amanda came in to check on the kids and ask them directly if they were enjoying their time

Decided to come on a Friday night to the bar for dinner and drinks and was blown away! The manager and staff deserved this 5 star review! There s a bartender named Max, who I would recommend! His cocktails were made extremely well and his service was just as great. I got the mussels as an appetizer and the pesto pasta as an entree, both tasted amazing. Def would come back and if you re ever in the area, give them a try!

Came here with a friend for dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant is located downtown but there is valet offered (complimentary for 2 hours, $20.00 flat fee if you go over that). You ll most likely go over the 2 hours so plan to pay the fee. We did want to be seated near a window but that didn t happen but nevertheless the customer service (servers) were amazing! Our waiter described the drinks/food perfectly and we ordered various options. For appetizers, we ordered the ricotta montata, gnocco fritto, and cozze al vino bianco (mussels). For drinks, we ordered the melone martini and frozen bellini. We enjoyed these appetizers and drinks but I did have issues with my mussels. I kept biting into tiny pearls and I had to send the meal back. They did remake it but the same issue was there and I couldn t risk cracking my teeth. Outside of that issue, the broth was tasty. For the mains, we both ordered the pasta di agnello alla bolognese. The pasta was cooked perfectly but the sauce wasn t savory as I expected it to be. The aged balsamic overpowered the dish and that s really all I could taste. I definitely wouldn t order this dish again, unfortunately. For dessert, we ordered the olive oil lemon cake and créme fraiche panna cotta. The desserts made for a nice ending and I really enjoyed the panna cotta. Overall, the service was excellent but the food fell a little short on a couple of items.

My significant other and I have been coming here for upwards of 6 times now and Sasseta never disappoints. Its one of my favorite vegetarian friendly spots. The food is impeccable. The fresh made pasta never disappoints, the cocktails are delicious, the pizza is heavenly, and the deserts are perfectly sized....I have dreams of their rigatoni. Highly recommend getting a pizza and pasta and splitting it, best of both worlds. Service is always top notch. Your water glass is never empty, removed silverware quickly replaced, attentive servers and managers who are not only friendly but genuinely love getting to know guests. This place needs to be on your list. This is the perfect date night spot for an evening out or a sure fire crowd pleaser when taking out of town guests out to dinner. My only criticism is that sometimes the dining room can get a little loud if the tables nearby are a bit boisterous and that the menu isnt always clear on what is vegetarian. Almost no vegan options which is a shame. Overall? Still coming back. Will be back. Need to have their pizza again. Vegetarian options: Menu featured a large array of vegetarian friendly pasta dishes and pizzas. Several apps are vegetarian friendly. Their sides are all vegetarian friendly and perfectly sized as an app.

We recently had our engagement dinner at Sassetta, hosting about 13 people, and it was an unforgettable experience. The private dining area was beautifully decorated and felt incredibly intimate, perfect for such a special occasion. The service was impeccable and attentive. They made sure the kids table felt included, giving them the attention they needed, which we truly appreciated. The food was absolutely delicious! The mussels, short rib, and tiramisu were the standout dishes for me. Every bite was a delight and received compliments from everyone at the table. The portions for each course were perfectly sized, leaving us satisfied but not overwhelmed. A special shoutout to Antonio, the general manager, who made the whole process seamless. From booking the event to curating a perfect menu, he ensured everyone felt welcome and provided exceptional service. Antonios attention to detail and warm hospitality made our engagement dinner even more special. Highly recommend Sassetta for any special occasion or just a wonderful dining experience. Thank you, Antonio, and the entire team for making our night so memorable!

My wife and I had an exceptional date night at Sassetta! This was our first visit, and we were thoroughly impressed by both the food and the service. The presentation of the dishes was impeccable, and every bite was a delight. The general manager, Tony, made our evening even more special. He was very attentive, making rounds to greet guests and personally welcoming us to the restaurant. It was evident that he genuinely cares about providing a top-notch dining experience. If youre looking for a perfect spot to take your significant other or entertain guests, this is the place to be. The ambiance and atmosphere are fantastic. We booked another reservation for the next day while we were still at the restaurant because we could not leave Dallas without trying again. This is not an exaggeration but it was top 10 foods I ve eaten in my life. What we ordered and will be coming back to experience tomorrow: Rigatoni Margherita pizza Italian chop salad Meatballs While the pizza and meatballs were exquisite, the salad and rigatoni had us in awe. In fact, we ordered a second salad before we were done with the first. To summarize, delectable food, exquisite service, and an outstanding experience.

Had dinner here because we stayed upstairs at the Joule, but the overall experience was surprisingly good. Victoria did a great job taking care of everything I could think of. Food-wise, the meatballs are must-try. I also liked the Calamari Fritto as well it could be even better if the calamari were a bit chewier. You ll find Shrimp Panzenella very tasty if you enjoy sweet-sour salads. They used pesto instead of basil leaves for margherita, giving the pizza more herbal flavor, which was pretty interesting and not bad to me. The Carpaccio was a bit too salty but they were cool to take it off my bill once I pointed that out impressive management.

Update: We have been back several times, driving well over an hour and paying a babysitter $20 per hour, so I can get the delicious rigatoni. The waiter last night told us that a new menu is coming in a few weeks. Please for the love of everything don t get rid of the rigatoni or whipped ricotta. These items have us driving across the great state of Texas and battling the crazy Dallas roads to eat! Husband loved the chicken dish and now we re scared it may disappear. Everyone is friendly, but service was pretty slow, it took a very long time to get refills and check last night. Also, It was freezing inside the restaurant as well. We sat next to the open window and it was 76 outside and they kept offering to close the window, but it was warmer outside than inside. Original:We went twice while staying in the Joule hotel. Very delicious. The burnt honey pizza sounds crazy and I m picky, but I liked it. The Caesar salad is really good. Loved the whipped ricotta. Rigatoni pasta was so flavorful and filling. Husband loved the scallops. The first night we went was a Wednesday and service was a little slow. They were out of several items, but today (Friday night) they had what my husband wanted and service was much more speedy so I m glad we gave them another try.

I had really great expectations of this place. I should have done the work to review their menu before choosing the restaurant. I wanted a classic italian Pasta, but had only about 4 options. Bartender was initially nice, but became classist when I asked for a garlic bread and more options on their menu. Finally ordered a sourdough bread, and the packaging wasn t nice at all - the toast looked burnt, and the bartender pretty much told me that s how classic Italians eat . I didn t touch the sourdough, but still got charged for it. I honestly wasn t in the mood to have a lengthy conversation about it - so just paid. Also, the Moscow mule didn t taste right. I won t be coming back.

I can summarize our experience at Sassetta by saying Im not mad, just disappointed. We had reservations, and were seated pretty quickly. The host was friendly and we had a great table. At this point in time, the restaurant was probably only about 25% full. We sat for almost 10 minutes before our server stopped by to say they would be back to take care of us. Once they returned, we ordered drinks, starters, and entrees. Our starter arrived about 10 minutes later, and drinks arrived 5 minutes later. Im glad we ordered everything at the same time! The food and drinks were great, and not stupidly expensive. Our server was friendly, and made some great recommendations, but it seemed like they had a lot of tables. Maybe my expectations were set too high.

I had high hopes for the restaurant, but unfortunately, several things went awry and left my family and me utterly dissatisfied with our experience here. Im certain we wont be returning, if youre in a group or a family looking for a solid and enjoyable Italian meal, I dont think this is the place for you. Regarding the food, we ordered the following items: Whipped Ricotta with Sourdough and Olive Oil Sausage Pizza Cavatelli Lasagna Rotolo Rigatoni The Whipped Ricotta and Rigatoni were quite good. However, the other two pastas (Cavatelli and Lasagna) and the pizza were average at best. As for the service, if you happen to be in a group of four or more people seated at the back of the restaurant, it doesnt seem like youll receive attentive service here. I dont think it was entirely the fault of the staff who served our table, but rather an issue with how the restaurant is operated. We noticed another group sitting next to us going through similar issues. Here are a few pointers: - We frequently ran out of water. When we asked for more water, we were told the waiter would bring it right back, but it usually took another 10-15 minutes. First time, I joked I am chugging down everyone elses water while waiting but it quickly got a little old the second time. - Our cocktails were the very first thing we ordered but didnt arrive until the end of our meal. Mind me, Ive checked with the staff and told they were coming. Since the timing was off, we decided to send them back. The restaurant comped us for the cocktails, which was a nice gesture, but still a bit disappointing considering our high expectations. - We asked for our remaining food to be boxed when the bill came to the table, for the uneaten pizza and a plate of cavatelli. However, we waited for a long time, at least 20 minutes, and no one brought the requested to-go boxes. This was particularly inconvenient as we were traveling with three young children. Eventually, we approached the front and asked if we could pay for our meal and get our food boxed. The manager came by to help me pay, but nobody knew what had happened to the requested to-go boxes. At that point, I decided it wasnt worth waiting any longer and left the restaurant without them. Overall, it doesnt seem like staff are well trained or staffed fully to manage the amount of the tables in the space.

Impression: We arrived to sassetta in the early afternoon and although the restaurant was mostly empty, we were told that a window seat was not available as we didn t have enough people in our party. The rule makes sense, but at 2pm it seems the staff should be empowered to make a sensible decision here. Food: We ordered the chop salad with shrimp on the side (pictured). While the menu mentions feta it was not apparently present. Shrimp were cooked well but that s where our interest ended. My guest ordered a pizza that left a lot to be desired. Service: Decent but some interesting quirks as they were turning over service from lunch to dinner and we felt a bit rushed. Overall, the experience was just . Fine. For the price we paid, we hoped it would resemble the wonderful experiences we had at the previous location. Docked 1 star for food, 1/2 for atmosphere and 1/2 for service.

We came here for a date night when we were in town visiting, and decided to sit at the bar. Even though we weren t hungry we ended up eating and spending almost 3 hours here. First of all, the service is wonderful. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with the bartenders. We ended up getting the caesar salad to share, two entrees, and a dessert. Also the cocktails and wine we had were all fantastic. One of the best meals I had in a while. I can t wait to come back.

Ordered the beef short rib for 2 and there was more fat than meat. Typically the meat of short ribs just falls apart but this did not. We cut off the fat we could see but still ended up eating some with what little meat there was. Not intentional! the fat grosses me out to eat. I mentioned to the waitress to let the chef know but nothing more was said from the restaurant side. Ended up awake all night with stomach pains and gas!

The only reason Im giving this place a 1-star rating is because of the way the manager handled a customer-service related situation. We were a large party of 11, and one of the individuals had to leave early for a personal emergency. Before the plates had come out, she asked to cancel the order and hurriedly left, thinking it was all taken care of. However, the waitress still brought out the plate while we were all in the middle of eating, and mentioned that the food had already been made and couldnt be taken back, and they still needed to charge for it. Since I had planned the entire event (it was a birthday dinner for a friend), I took on the responsibility of figuring this out, so everyone else could enjoy their night. This was now MY food, and IM the one who had to pay for it- which was understandable. But, I tried the plate (it was the crab linguini), and it tasted awful. The pasta was far too sour from the citrus, the chili flakes were tacky and too strong, and the crab was rancid. Overall, I wasnt happy with this plate, and I definitely didnt want to pay $36 for it. I brought the waitress back and explained that I understood the extra plate would be charged to me, but now it was an issue of not liking the food itself and wanting to possibly swap it out for something else. You would think, any restaurant that wants to keep its customers satisfied and comfortable would gladly offer this- it wasnt food I was okay with eating. Instead, the manager came out and bluntly placed the food back on the table, said there was nothing that could be done. The plate was already made and it needed to be paid for. Not only was her tone upsetting and extremely unaccommodating, but it was a horrible way to handle what couldve been an opportunity for kindness and top-tier customer service. The way I see it, it was a bad plate of food; It doesnt matter if it was a cancelled order from someone else or not. It wouldnt have been an issue paying for it if the food was good. Overall, this ruined our night and we wont be recommending this place to anyone. I would, however, like to point out that before this situation, the waitress and hostess were really kind and accommodating, especially for such a stressful amount of people at once. The ambiance of the restaurant is very aesthetic and a solid dinner spot for a nice atmosphere. They even used the candles I bought for the dessert we chose for the birthday. Just wish they wouldve met basic customer service needs and expectations, so I could recommend it to others.

Not the best valentines experience. they stuffed us between 2 couples in back corner in a table that was maybe 1 foot from the 2 beside us. despite seeing many many open tables. we made reservations 2 weeks in advance so I find this ridiculous. upon asking to be switched to the bar they happily obliged. food was good but way way overpriced. wine pairing was subpar as well. not worth the extra $110. The thing that made this experience even worth stars at all was the lovely bartender. he was generous funny attentive and clearly loved his job. after all this the valet guy then brought us the wrong car and that was frustrating as it was raining out. wont be coming back unfortunately.

My friend and I had a great meal at Sassetta! For our starters we ordered the salumi/mozzarella/focaccia plate. For entrees, the pappardelle bolognese and the soppresatta pizza. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the restaurant itself has a cool mid-century modern vibe. Our waiter was just a little too soft-spoken at times, especially as the dinner crowd started to roll in, but we have no real negatives and will definitely be back when we get the chance!

My wife and I attended Sansetta s New Year s eve dinner. The service and atmosphere were amazing! Unfortunately, the food did not match the price point. The first course options of arancini or lobster & buratta were perfection, but things went downhill from there. The second course was the choice of rigatoni alla vodka or potato gnocchi Alfredo. The gnocchi was cooked well, but the Alfredo sauce just tasted like black pepper. I let our waitress know, and she kindly offered to replace it with the rigatoni, which was just edible and not memorable. For the third course, we got to choose from jumbo prawns with polenta (fancy shrimp & grits) or NY Strip and black-eyed peas. Both were seasoned really well but, unfortunately overcooked. For the dessert course, my wife had the passion fruit tiramisu, and I chose the blood orange creamsicle. Whatever crumble was on my dessert, I wish I could order it by the pound. Overall the ambiance and our servers did help my rating, but with an almost $500 price tag (including gratuity and a wine pairing), the food quality left a bit to be desired.

The restaurant atmosphere is nice. The parking is horrible and the valet is expensive. The staff was OK. We saw more of the manager than our waitress. The manager was nice and attentive. Our waitress, which we had to ask numerous times for certain things, must have assumed that the gratuity was all she was going to get and she acted as such. NONE of the food you see on Google menu or in the photos they have. (except the pizza) We waited almost an hour for a luke warm, VERY small, very al dente, VERY expensive portions. The drinks taste good but they dont have much alcohol in them and you get charged extra if you veer from the selected drink menu. We came for a birthday dinner with nothing special for the birthday girl. To bring a cake youd be charged $45. Will I return ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! A tic tok find and fail.

I don t normally go out of my way to post reviews on every restaurant I go to, but this one deserves the negative reviews in my book. I came here with a group of friends for a birthday dinner. (Party of 8) Overall service was a poor. Waitress was all nice and friendly at the beginning but later on she wasn t. Read until the end. Cesar salad came out in large leaflets. My husband and I ended up having to use a fork & knife for it. Who does that for a Cesar salad? Meatball appetizer, came out with burnt bread. Tagliatelle Bolognese came out dried as the Sahara desert. Market fish was just plainly sad (tiny fish fillet). When it came to desserts we were told it d be a cost of $35 to eat the cake that we brought in. We had a decent size cake as well. So we had to turn down dessert menu for the ridiculous policy. Our waitress flipped a switch on us when that happened and gave us a bitchfit and didn t even bother to ask how to split the check properly amongst the group. It shouldn t matter whether we get desserts or not. What, people can t have the right to not order desserts to their liking? If that affects your paycheck then don t be in the food industry job. Common sense tells you regardless if the check is split OR is all in one, you still get your tips. The only great thing I had to say about this place was the aesthetic and that is not enough to last long in the food industry. Save yourself from wasting your time and money here. out.

The food was decent. My waiter really hyped up every item on the menu which seemed fake. Im not looking for a yes man to help me make a good culinary decision. My biggest issue was portion size (or lack thereof). I audibly gasped when they brought out the Hamachi Crudo appetizer. Is that seriously all I get for $25?? Then my wife ordered the Crab Ravioli. Again, I audibly gasped because SURELY the entree would be a more appropriate size! But no...my wife got FIVE (5) raviolis for $26?? They were good, but not THAT good and they were Chef-Boyar-Dee sized raviolis, not large by any stretch. Thankfully I ordered the pizza, which was a good portion, but the quality faltered there. I ordered a pizza with white sauce and honey and my waiter suggested I add pepperoni to it. Bad call! I honestly dont think the guy had tasted any of the items we ordered! Ultimately, my wife and I left hungry and felt like the place was just a pretentious location to drop a wad of cash purely for the sake of image. My waiter was visibly dissatisfied when I turned down dessert and cappuccino when I had my card in my hand ready to pay for the meal. Crazy expensive for very small portions.

Indifferent service could not offset good food and ambiance. Our host never mentioned that they were closing soon or that there was a last call. When we went the Bar, the Bartender ignored us until rudely telling us they closed already. When I tried to validate my valet ticket, the hostess made it a point to mention that I had been there 16 minutes over the valet limit. This felt like salt in the wound when we had spent an average amount of time ordering and eating food and were trying to have a drink at the bar unbeknownst to us that they had already closed. The service was severely below par when compared to its CBD neighbor.

The service was good and we went right before the dinner rush so they were able to get us a good table. Ambiance was nice. The lighting was good for a date night. Good music playing in the background, but not too loud. For an appetizer, we tried the Burrata. It was good though I do wish there were a few more tomatoes. As an entree, we tried the Lobster Fra Diavolo and Halibut Cacciuccio. The pasta was just okay. We were missing more lobster and flavor. The halibut was cooked very well and tasty. For drinks, we tried the El Paradiso and Il Bandito. El Paradiso was very lavender forward but I liked it. It was refreshing. Il Bandito contains a 12 year old scotch that hubs liked very much. We enjoyed dessert the most. The Marsala Sabayon was delicious and the olive oil cake with candied pistachios was good as well but not great like the Sabayon.

Food was okay for the price. Atmosphere is decent. My main concern is that we had 9:30pm reservation and when we arrived, the hostess tried to tell us the kitchen closed at 9:45pm and so we wouldnt have much time to order or eat. I became frustrated that they would offer us a reservation time slot so close to the closing of the kitchen and was told by the hostess that it was the restaurant rules. I became more irritated and finally another staff member came over and clarified that this was not the case and we could have a normal dinner as planned. That said, the place was empty and we felt like they were rushing to get us out. The appetizer and salad were brought at the same time and then main courses were brought out less then 10 minutes later before we were done with the salad. The meatball appetizer was cold. We expressed concerns about feeling rushed and the manager was nice and apologetic and slowed things down. But overall we just felt rushed and like we were bothering everyone for dining late even though it was a reservation time slot they offered online. Will not be going back or recommending.

First of all , I was so disappointed with the service. Significant wait on the drinks and the food. From the appetizer menu ... We had to return the stuffed olives to the kitchen because they tasted really bad. Initially the server was very defensive and made us feel like we were doing something wrong ! It was really uncomfortable feeling ... she even said without tasting them thats how they always taste asking us are you familiar with castelveltrano olives ???? . Reluctantly, she took the plate back to the kitchen ... eventually she came back saying that the chef tasted them and he agrees they tasted bad and he took them off the menu for the night ! . The steak tartar was really below average ( still eatable and we were hungry at that point) . It was very salty too, and our water glasses were only refilled one time after again flagging the server ( the inside of the restaurant was very hot ). When we got the main dishes, we were not offered any Parmesan cheese or black paper or anything and when we asked ( we had to flag another server ) eventually after the dish went cold we provided with tiny side plate with Parmesan on it ( see photos) with no apology for the wait or for the embarrassing cafeteria style Parmesan. The main dishes were ok . Again nothing really standing out at this establishment. After 2 hours of bad service we decided to ask for the check. The server went ahead and grabbed our plates even though we were still eating and they were full with food without asking us if we needed boxes. Glad we were holding on our drinks ... otherwise similar thing could have happened. The bottom line ... if you are going out for dinner in Dallas and you desire some Italian food or a nice experience I think you should go somewhere else .

I think Sassetta is a tad to fresh to be judged. I understand that previously it was an amazing place but right now they dont have their feet under them yet. The food I sampled was fine, nothing blew me away, but it was good. The price for most things on the menu was quite affordable, especially considering its downtown in a hotel. The service was friendly but besides the waitress not fully trained. I know its only a few weeks in but I think they have some work to do in order to get back to the prime Sassetta.

Fairly good spot. It is a step out from their previous location in the design district. Allot of fresh takes on several of the dishes, the price is a little steep for the portion size. The pastas where fairly good. The clam pizza was good, although the dough was super light, and there barely any clam on it. This is not an Italian restaurant per se, there is allot of influence from the cuisine but its more of southern European food with modern influence. Although this was a pleasant experience.
