Very nice looking restaurant and service was great. The food was lacking. The taste, texture, shape and color of the shrimp leads me to believe it was boxed/imported/Sysco. Definitely not fresh gulf. Oysters were off tasting as well. Maybe just a bad day.

We had a great server! But it took an hour for our second order of oysters. Then they set us as a couple between all these kids and we were extremely uncomfortable and it ruined our experience. Kid-friendliness: They put my husband and my self in the middle of kids and teenagers. It was a miserable experience.

This place is a tourist trap. I ordered fried oysters with a salad instead of french fries. The salad was really good but the oysters were the size of large olives and I only got seven. The batter had something sweet that tasted like raspberries. Raspberries? Thats just plain weird. Waitresses were very nice and attentive. My low review is due to the $50+ check lunch for two. Water to drink.

Very loud restaurant likely because of the high ceilings. Food was average. There is so much potential for local oyster dishes yet they keep reverting to deep frying everything even though the menu states that it s a light dusting of cornmeal !! Couldn t taste the oysters for all the breading and they were tiny and overcooked! The shrimp were cooked perfectly with a slight coating but that didn t really save the meal!

Water Street now thinks they own a public street. The painted to go parking on the street curb and put signs on a public sidewalk. Who in the city would let them pull off a scam like this? Now tonight were told they charge $3 for extra house dressing. No thanks! Theyve ruined the oysters with farm raised oysters that are 3 times less flavor than wild. No thanks on these nasty things too! Weve been loyal customers since 1991 and they are not what they used to be. Weve tried very hard to accept the changes but unfortunately its time for us to find another seafood restaurant. Good luck with these Great Iniatives!

If you knew Water Street 10-20 years ago, you likely won t care for the limited menu options now. It s just not what it once was. And what is available is on the bland side. I think there are now better options in the area that haven t got complacent in the business. Parking: Not a lot of spaces to park at near the restaurant, but not bad for that part of town. Plenty of parking across the street. Just be careful when you cross!

WSOB has always been a special go to place for our special occasions. So for our 29th Anniversary we decided to dine in. The place is very unique. I have always loved the place. We had no wait time around 6 - 6:30 Wednesday evening. We were seated in the extended room to the right. This room always seems a bit on the cool to uncomfortable side, but it was fine. There is a lingering smell of fish. I know, its a seafood restaurant, but some who are not used to that might find it unpleasant. A better vent system maybe? Reason for on atmosphere. Main dining area very nice. Our waitress was nice, but seemed to forget we were in her area. She would walk right by w/o checking to see if we needed anything...Finally got in the groove. She mentioned bringing bread, but we wound up having to ask for some after we had finished our salads. No biggie, but the bread was tough and cold. We ordered the Mesquite Grilled Sampler dish, and the Fried Shrimp w/ loaded baked potato (extra charge, of course). The portions were of good amount. My wifes sampler was hit and miss. The grilled drum seemed good, the kabob was overcooked as was the rice. Crab cake ok. My fried shrimp looked amazing, sadly though, it was over fried. If you are familiar with shrimp, you know theres a point where too long equals rubbery. Although there were plenty of them, 8 or so, they all fell victims to over frying. My extra charge loaded baked potato was warm at best. It seems what I have seen happen to other restaurants is happening to WSOB. Days gone by, Brad would walk the floor, checking to see if the meals were up to par, and making it right if it wasnt. He set the bar high, hence the reputation of the whole complex. It might have been an off night? It happens. Jury is out, for now, about when, or if we go back. Overall, if it were not for the company of my beautiful bride of 29 yrs. the evening would have been a wreck. Give it a try, maybe I had an off night.

This has been a favorite in Corpus for me for years. After a run of not great meals in Rockport, we stopped by on our way to the airport. Service was excellent, the restaurant is clean and modern and the menu has a variety to choose from. I had a sampler with grilled Mahi Mahi, a crab cake and shrimp tarpoon for a little over $20. Then I gladly paid an extra $3 for an upgrade to a side of baked gouda mac and cheese. Its one of the best M&C Ive ever had, its so creamy! I would also suggest the wedge salad. All of the food was fresh and well made!

We had a great experience! Hostess was friendly and welcoming. Place was pretty busy on a Saturday night which Im sure is typical. We were able to sit at the bar and order food. After sitting down we were greeted immediately by Savannah the bartender who took care of us for the rest of the night. Savannah was very friendly and welcoming and had a great personality. She asked if we were getting food or just drinks and after I answered, she immediately brought out some menus for us and got us some water to get started. You could tell she had experience with customers. They were all killing it behind the bar. We ordered a dozen oysters, half in Savannahs favorite and half bay oysters. Both of which were delicious. She also brought us some pico de Gallo she recommended for her favorite oysters and it was definitely a good recommendation. Be careful with the horseradish! It was no joke! Very spicy! We also ordered a sushi roll from the new Sushi Room at the Oyster Bar. We ordered the waters street roll and really enjoyed it. Sushi tasted fresh. It wasnt mushy and was rolled well. The flavors were great and it was also devoured quickly. We ordered the mesquite grilled salmon with a lemon dill sauce and the seared grouper with mango salsa. Both entrees came with a salad of your choice (house, Caesar, or wedge) and sauteed veggies and seasoned rice. The salmon was absolutely delicious and the lemon dill sauce was perfect. The lemon was not overwhelming any other flavors of the sauce and it was buttery, creamy and lovely. The grouper was good. Lightly seasoned with a great sear. The veggies were also nice and lightly seasoned and well cooked. The mango salsa was a great addition to every bite of grouper. Lightly sweet and a little spicy. We also ordered an extra dirty martini and a Moscow mule. Be careful with those drinks, Savannah made them smooth and they could get you into some trouble with how easy they were to drink. Overall, a great experience! The restaurant design was a red lobster reimagined according to my wife which I think I could agree with, The hospitality for the staff we interacted with was great and everyone seemed nice, and it was a great date night/ birthday dinner. Definitely recommended for a great meal, and great hospitality from Savannah. Thank you very much for taking care of us!

In short: Its a nice looking restaurant with a disappointing, very limited, and relatively expensive menu. We were excited to go as Weve lived in the area for many years. Always heard good things about the restaurant, but what we received didnt live up to the hype. Water is served in a cold carafe, but no ice. Our calamari appetizer was under seasoned. I had the seafood jambalaya and that was acceptable to good, but not for the price. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. Mildly rustic, but classy at the same time. The service could have been quite a bit better and is the low point of this place. Had to wait over a half hour after our plates were taken from us to finally get our bill. Probably an off night for the wait staff, but it was not busy and impacted our experience. I personally wouldnt recommend it based off what I saw.

I visited Water Street Oyster Bar for lunch around 12:30 PM and found the place quite busy. Since there was a wait for a table, I opted to sit at the bar. The bartender, Nicholas, took a few minutes to attend to me, but he was friendly and polite. My cocktail was served promptly, but I had to wait at least 35 minutes for my Padre Island Roll, which was frustrating. Unfortunately, the sushi roll was somewhat bland, with barely any shrimp, and the rice wasn t sticky. Overall, it was a mixed experience.

After seeing this restaurant on Texas Country Reporter my hubby wanted to try it when we came to Corpus. We arrived on a Thursday evening @ 7:07pm and were quoted 1 hr wait for 6 people. We were prepared for the hour wait. The little area outside was nice for the wait. Where the problem occurs is when we waited an hour and then questioned an open 6 top table that had been empty for 15 minutes ( we could see through the glass in the front). We were told it was for a group checked in before us that couldnt go upstairs. At the 70 minute wait we were told the hostesses were waiting for a buser to clean the table for 10 minutes but according to the hostess they dont like to go upstairs. 2 of our 6 people are over 80 years old. Actually it was the day before my dads 81st birthday. We also asked 2 hostess to speak to the manager. We didnt see the manager at this point. It would have been nice to see the manager trying to get us seated. The 2 hostess didnt seem fazed at all. Keep in mind the table downstairs is still empty, cleaned with plates and glasses but they refuse to seat us there. My 2 kids and senior parents as well as myself were getting more frustrated by the minute. At 8:20 we were seated at the same time as the other party of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids) who had checked in at least 30 minutes after us. I pointed out that the other party came after us and the response was sorry, my fault. The waitress was ok, seemed tired or irritated. I had to go back downstairs to ask again for the manager after 30 minutes. The young man at the desk paged the manager and then went to get her. The manager, Yesemia, was apologetic for the manner it was handled. We ordered shortly after being seated and the 2 kids meals of chicken nuggets came out at 9:23. The restaurant at this point wasnt full and it seemed the kitchen was slow. My crawfish stuffed chicken had 2 crawfish tails, our waitress heard me complaining and offered a different meal. I ordered fried shrimp and they were very good. Bacon wrapped shrimp was good but the rice was crunchy. We ordered 3 desserts to go and only got 2 but they were comped. I must say overall the trip to Ocean Street Oyster was a bit of a disappointment.

If I cared more about the service or the atmosphere, Id rate it higher, but just based on the food...not great. Everything was way overpriced for not the portion, but the technique. I ordered the Jambalaya pasta and while the protein in it was great, the pasta was BLAND bland. Like its boiled in saltless water and then rinsed. The sauce was wet, and wasnt sticking to the pasta, as if the pasta is just tossed in a heated sauce and not actually finished in the sauce like it should be. Bland flavors. Sloppy presentation. Just not a 25 dollar plate of pasta. I was REALLY gonna drag this place for the gumbo, but my waiter was nice enough to take it off the tab, so Ill say it just wasnt for me. Key lime pie was the worst ive ever had, but the Oysters were the best All in all, just eh. I also cut some slack because we had a HUGE party, but we also were very patient with the nearly 2 hr wait, so there was give and take. Overall, just not the spot to be at after a long day at the aquarium.

There wasnt really any love put into the food they make. Most of the food was just outright bland and some dishes werent even eaten by people in our party due to the bad taste. Dont get me wrong. The oysters were great. That was really the only good thing we got. Multiple dishes that were ordered were just disappointing. Overpriced mediocre food. Even the appetizers we got were poorly made. The spinach dip was mostly just cream cheese. The bread was hard and the butter tasted like nothing. The lemonade was overly sweet to where we had to water it down. Service was slightly below average as multiple dishes were forgotten/put in late thus making the wait time longer and tiring just to get more disappointed at the food that was brought. Our party was just so tired and so hungry that we tolerated a lot of it but by the end, it just wasnt worth it.

Great atmosphere! Our server (Lee) was wonderful and the shrimp appetizer sauce stole the show (some spicy butter concoction that I drizzled on everything else I ate). The sushi was great (especially the half-off Happy Hour deal), as was the red snapper my wife had (which was NOT half off ) Enjoy!

The raw oysters and peel & eat shrimp were delicious. The shrimp salad was great, but I would recommend a different salad dressing for the veggies. Tge hush puppies were light & fluffy on inside & crispy outside - perfect. The fried meals were good but not great, only reason for a four star instead of five.

So yes they serve seafood here and I don t like seafood. But for this Land lover they have chicken dishes and pasta. I highly recommend the Chicken Rockefeller and the Creole Hushpuppies the garlic cream on the chicken is amazing.

The Oysters Rockefeller were delicious! The drinks were not! I ordered a Salty Dog if there was vodka in it I d be shocked. My daughter also ordered one and said the same thing. She is.a professional mixologist. My grandson and mother ordered Shirley Temples, they were made with club soda instead of a lemon lime soda and the grenadine was almost non existent The food was lack luster for the price ie two shrimp and two fried oysters that were tough Our waiter was nice and the ambiance was very nice.

The fried calamari appetizer were way too salty. The bread tasted warm and fresh. Service was nice and somewhat fast (they were really busy). Atmosphere is also nice. The shoyu salmon was okay. The salmon didn t taste too fishy, but it also didn t taste that fresh. The blackened chicken fettuccine was not the best. The pasta was kind of watery and it also had no flavor. The chicken, however, was really good. The seafood pasta jambalaya also didn t have too much flavor. The sausages were also way too salty. All the pasta noodles were overcooked. The water St. Po boy (shrimp) was okay. It honestly just tasted like the burger king s classic chicken sandwich except this one had shrimp instead of chicken. The tempura shrimp roll was just so-so. Couldn t even taste the shrimp.

Our service wasnt great, but it was the end of a dinner rush so I assumed we would be paid some attention. We waited a very long time to even take our order, granted our server touched base with us but we waited very patiently irregardless the entire night. Our food was just fine, our service couldve been better.

There was understandably a long wait line. We got seated promptly. Then waited for nearly 1.5 hours with my friends from New Jersey to get our food. Ordered the red fish, got tired of waiting and took the food to go. I get back to the hotel only to find out that I was missing my sides. This was a 200 meal for three, I am embarrassed to have my friends from so far away, and have a bad experience. Ill never go there again.

This place is absolutely amazing. Ive been coming here for over 15 years. The only complaints I have are the rising costs, understandable, and the smaller loaf of bread that is free, lol. The lemon dill sauce on their salmon is absolutely to die for. If youre looking for a more affordable dish that youll be hooked on, try the grilled chicken wedge salad with their homemade dressing. The only part of you that wont be happy after you leave here is your pocket book.

Ate all the oysters at the bar. Happy hour has half priced raw oysters, but not the cooked ones... The normal flavors were very good but the blue cheese and pecan fried have to be tried! The only down side was that the oysters were quite small and the portions for the cooked oysters were very small for the price. I did enjoy it but would not return because of the poor value. Parking: Parking is hard around here. Too many venues and not much parking.

Water Street Oyster Bar stands out as not only a staple but also the epitome of elegance in our city s dining scene. From the moment you step inside, the calm and inviting ambience welcomes you, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. We started with a dozen Blue Point oysters, each one bursting with freshness and flavor. The selection of local Gulf oysters and other varietals offered a delightful variety. Alongside, the shrimp picayune stole the show with its perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors, accompanied by perfectly grilled toast points. For our main course, we indulged in the quick and satisfying poke bowl. Opting for the Lulu with yellowfin tuna and the Shoyu Salmon with Atlantic salmon, we were treated to a symphony of fresh flavors. From the succulent proteins to the crisp vegetables, every bite was a culinary delight. Water Street Oyster Bar has truly set the bar high for fine dining in our city, and it s a place I ll gladly return to for more unforgettable meals.

Went there for dinner and while waiting to be seated, my cousin was pushed by another customer and staff did not assist, we walked away to wait our turn and when we returned we were seated upstairs. She too our order for beverages and appetizers, 49 min later the waitress returned with waters and appetizers and informed us we would not be served alcoholic beverages because she felt uncomfortable. Maybe we were having too much fun but it was very degrading and the management did not help at all. Maybe the customer is always right only if you are the right shade of skin at this establishment. The manager would NOT provide her name to me and I will never ever return to that restaurant. We gladly gave our business to the new Fridas restaurant since seafood and alcohol were served everywhere else not just here. It was a very weird and hostile experience. I live up north never had I experienced racism like I did here. Disgusted by the way management handled our quiet complaint.

Took a lunch break during a beach visit, lured by the promise of varietal oysters. Today they had 2 Canadian oysters, a Maine variety and their own farmed oysters. We ordered a half dozen of each and were happily surprised by the flavor. The drinks are delightful (salty dog and Venus were amazing) and their Mac and Cheese was amazing. The seafood tower was amazing and our server Lee took amazing care of us. Finished off with Pineapple cheesecake and Key Lime pie and they were both some of the best desserts Ive had. It pulls its weight amongst some of my favorite California seafood spots. A++.

A bit of a let down. We stay in Corpus just to go eat at Water Street. We ordered drinks and two appetizers. Those hit the table before our bar drinks. It was not busy since there was no wait. Usually we wait, which is no problem. Appetizers were on point. Midway thru our appetizers, our bar drinks arrived- draft beer, vodka tonic and lime. Easy peasy drinks. Main dish looked like the sides had been sitting under the heat lamp a tad too long, till the fish came off the grill. The nueces crawfish sauce looked stale- ( refer to picture) rice was, at best warm., broccoli was cold. The server was great. The kitchen and bar let her down.

Food and service is always great here but on the Water Street Oyster side the glasses on the table were pretty dingy almost like they were washed in dirty dish water and then air dried. They need a micro manager to be the bad cop to inspect these little things and correct the staff when they do this because its the little things that count especially if youre a classy place. On the Surf Club side, they need to get rid of those tiny thin French fries on the fish n chips.
