We were excited to eat at Selenas favorite restaurant. Our waitress was so nice & told the manager we came from Kansas to the Selena museum & was told to eat at Hi Ho, Selenas favorite restaurant. The manager came up to us & was so welcoming & nice & even took our pic in front of the restaurant! And the food was great!

MAYNE HOLD LUPP when I tell you this place have to be the best Mexican food we have ate we see why this was Selena favorite place to eat we got the beef Enchilada plate and the steak fajita tacos we went in the am we didnt think they sell dinner In the am we called and placed our order I would do that in advance made it no wait time went in side and Mayne hold lupp you could feel the amazing energy the fresh food being made is just in the air I was like got damn we might should eat inside I seen like love every where the cooks was just enjoying cooking the food real talk we got the food and MAYNE hold lupp the beef Enchilada was like meat sauce inside I dont know how they got it like that but the beans was made to where they smash the beans you can tell the steak fajitas was damn fresh with the home Hand made Tortilla was so damn good I not gone lie we came back around 1:30 pm no mind you they Close at 2:30 pm that shows you how foolywooly they food be we got the taco plate and when I tell you it was off the meat racks I said got damn they dont miss food was amazing and not even high we just went home and went to sleep great great place to eat and the cook they food with love we saved the tortilla and brought them home to eat for later they made them right when we order them had to Mayne hold luppppp this plac here must go to when in bird city

Ill be honest, the only reason my husband and I wanted to try this place was because we heard it was Selenas favorite restaurant. Let me tell you though, she had impeccable taste in food! If I lived in the area I would eat here everyday. The tortillas, I could a thousand! I ordered the Carne guisada, which may not be hard to make but sometimes people use too much Chile not enough cumin and sometimes people use pork, instead of beef. IT WAS PERFECT. The meat melted like butter in my mouth. We also ordered the cheese enchilada plate for our 9 year old, whos very picky and he demolished his plate, I had to tell him to slow down. Lastly, we ordered the fideo con Carne for our 3 year old, it was the chefs kiss for sure. When we visit Corpus this will forever be our 1st stop! The service was great, we always had a full drink, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. I wish we didnt devour it before I snapped a pic, but I can tell you between us 4, there was not a crumb left!

I went this past Saturday. The food is good however customer service is horrible. There were flies everywhere and the food took 45 minutes to come out. We only had one Mexican plate and one enchilada plate. Honestly, wasted my time and money here

It was my first time in Corpus Christi.. their style of Mexican food is . Different to say the least. I had a co worker who lives there rave how good the food is there. I ve been all over Texas, born and raised in El Paso and Corpus food is just very different. The two places I went, it was very Tex-mex even though I was told it was supposed to be authentic. What they call chalupas, look like tostadas and NONE of their restaurants serve enchiladas in red or green sauce, it s this weird meat/gravy looking sauce. None the less I was unimpressed with the food in the city and Hi-Ho wasn t any different. I had a lot of expectations for it since it was deemed as Selena s favorite restaurant growing up

First and last time visiting this place. The moment I walked through the door I shouldve walked back to my car. It has a terribly strong moth ball smell that I could never get used to. I dont drink strong coffee, but this coffee tasted like water. I ordered the potato and egg plate and the egg had a dull appearance and it includes onions which are not listed in the ingredients, and beans had no flavor. The only thing that tasted good was the chorizo.

Went here for a quick lunch trip. My daughter and I are traveling from North Texas, & she wanted to go eat at Selena s Favorite Restaurant & they did not disappoint with the food! I for the beef enchiladas w rice & beans. Probably the best I ve had and I ve lived in TX for over 20 years now. The place is bit old and the service was slow but the waitress we had was just so friendly & quick with drinks and refills. Will definitely visit again!!

We waited more than an hour and they didnt serve us. I personally went THREE times to ask for service and they only answered well serve you right now... people finished eating and left, others came and served them and so on and so on and it was just us They looked at us in a bad way until they looked at me as annoyed for insisting again. There was no apology or even a logical reason. I simply believe that we were not the type of person who is welcome in that place. TERRIBLE PLACE

Definitely not worth the hype, but that s just my opinion. The chicken fajita was alright.. the grilled bell peppers and onions tasted better than the chicken itself it was very dry. The carne guisada was dry too and had no flavor. I m from San Antonio so being served mashed potatoes on the side of a carne guisada plate was very interesting. I also waited an hour for my food and it was just for two people. That s crazy.

I ate lunch at HIHO and almost cried! The food reminded me of my welas cooking! Real beans.... Just beans not all crazy borachos or whatever. Just great tasting charro beans. Next, regular delicious Spanish rice! No peas and carrots and whatever else! Just orange rice! The enchiladas just like wela and mom used to make! And OMG THE TORTILLAS! I ate 2!!! NO REGRETS because they were fluffy, flour-y in your hands, and beautiful! I was really just happy because it was so nostalgic!

My husband I visited on Saturday. It was very busy and seating was hard to find (It is a seat your self situation) . The food was good but it took 35 minutes for us to receive our food. One couple got tired of waiting and walked out. It was worth a try.

I visited Saturday for breakfast. The coffee was delicious, but it went downhill from there. The food took forever. They are always busy, but this took way longer. The Beans had no flavor, potatoes were not cooked all the way, and the worst part was the Barbacoa was dry like beef jerky. looks can be Deceiving..

I have been going here for years. They have the best enchiladas in town hands down! I get the childs plate cheese enchiladas(its enough food for an adult who doesnt eat much) with extra onions and two over easy eggs on top. Their sweet tea is also really good. The waitresses are always very kind.

Ive heard of this place and finally got a chance to go and man Ive been missing out. It was supper packed when we arrived and surprisingly the service was good. Homemade Texmex food is always a plus and this place hit the spot. The Carne guisada was on point and so were the enchiladas. The walls were covered in some great pictures of some great locals. I was really excited to come to HI-Ho...Being i have heard people talking about how good it was....but I was disappointed the food was ok but I cant say I was impressed some of the dishes that were brought out to the table were greasy...( Carne Guisada being the worst ) The smell of the restaurant was very nauseating ( smelt like sewer gases) On an up note the waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Nowhere near as good as other reviews gave. Acoustics are horrible. Only 2 of us, sitting across the table from each other and had to almost scream at each other in order to be able to hear each other. All other customers and staff having to talk as loud as well.

Food is great..to-go service SUCKS! Waited 40 minutes for my food, which itself wasnt even the problem... Good food takes awhile to make. But then my order comes out, togo person opens it, takes it back to the kitchen and nukes it to death IN THE STYROFOAM.... Apparently to melt the cheese ... No one could seem to understand that I didnt want Styrofoam-leeched food and thought I was complaining about the wait time, I understand they are short handed, but that doesnt have anything to do with KILLING the plate in a microwave. In the course of doing this they got the grease in the rice and beans so hot that it burned holes thru the bottom of the platter. Come on Hi-Ho.. You can do better than microwaved Styrofoam infused food. Ill just sit inside and eat alone next time.

Waitress took forever to greet us and take our order and then basically ignored us after she brought the food; never refilled our drinks. We had to get our to go containers from the cashier. Food was as good as always
