I had to really think about what I wanted to say regarding my recent representation by the team at Atkinson law. I will say I met Doug once, and he s a great salesman. I hired him immediately. My case lasted 6 months and it felt like my hearing kept getting reset to a later date. At the end, I scheduled a meeting to come see Doug but I was only able to meet with Sophie. I want to make it clear that I do believe Doug has way too many clients and maybe sometimes doesn t have time to meet with you one on one. But having said that, I believe he has a great team behind him and that s what good attorneys do. Sophie met with me a few times. She listened to my concerns and answered all the questions. At the end, I was able to meet with Sophie on a Tuesday and my case was dismissed on Thursday. I am very thankful to the Atkinson s team. Douglas and his team went above and beyond for my case (DWI 2ND ABOVE A .15). The court appointed could only get a few terrible offers. 1. 2 year probation with a bunch of classes fines and court costs and alcohol interlock device etc... 2. 90 days in jail, 3. Take to trial. Wow! Mr. Atkinson took the time to learn about the core problems my brother had to end up with his 2nd felony charges for possession on probation. Doug has helped me tremendously and changed my life. I spent my 20 s in alcohol riddled depression and caught 3 DWI s in 5 years. I hired Doug for the last one, facing a felony third and a motion to revoke probation for the second all at once. I still wasn t taking things seriously and failed drug tests. Doug advocated for me, saved me yet again from a motion to revoke felony bond, and worked with the judge to get me therapy. It took over a year to pay him $10k and after fulfilling my obligation to him he had my felony reduced to a misdemeanor. While on probation 18 months later I could not afford to hire him again for a motion to reduce the conditions of probation. I really needed this and went in to get it myself, but I was very anxious. He recognized me in court about to go up Pro-Se and scooped me up Pro-Bono. Motion granted! I m forever indebted to him and his team. Don t take this man for granted. I had never been accused of any wrong doing in my life, let alone to have a felony lodged against me. I was truly out of my realm with this horrible charge but thankfully found Doug. I am a REAL PERSON and if your FREEDOM is important to you READ THIS! After a bad breakup my ex, which is an attorney herself, she decided she wanted to make me suffer. She filled a bogus complaint with the Montgomery county Sheriffs office, and from that day my life turned to hell. This was the first time something like this has ever happened to me, and I was very unaware of the process since I never even had a parking ticket to my name. I initially hired an attorney in Conroe, I thought was knowledgeable and competent, but as time progressed I realized, I wasnt getting anywhere with him, and my situation was getting worse. As a last straw of hope, I got Dougs number from a friend in The Woodlands, He told me to go see Doug. At this point I was already pretty deep in the process, and had to appear in court every month, and I was even offered a plea bargain with serious prison time. When I called to setup the appointment, with Doug they first asked me the trial dates, and when I told them it was in the upcoming week, Doug immediately met with me the very next day. When we met Doug wanted to know the story with my ex, and almost immediately started strategizing. My case it was a little complicated since my ex stole my backup hard drives and the sheriffs department confiscated all my computers and electronics, we didnt have a lot to work with to prove my innocence. Immediately after our first meeting Doug gave me his personal cell phone number and communicated with me on a regular basis. Every time I had a question or a concern I sent him a text and he replied always, almost immediately, is if I was texting a friend or a family member, this put me at ease knowing the attorney fighting for my innocence and freedom is well familiar with my case and working hard to resolve it. This would be the time to say my case was not very common and a little intricate. (An uncommon felony charge) I spoke to two Houston attorneys, that didnt even want to deal with it. To make a long story short, after Doug and his team, Bruce and Shannon, started handling my case, the communication between them and the DAs office was on a regular basis, until the case was DROPPED about 2 months later. Are these reviews fake? They have to be because from my personal experience, Doug and his partner was by far the worst lawyer I could ve had. He never gathered the information needed from me to defend me in court. Every time I had court, he would attempt to inform me of inaccurate information that didn t pertain to my legal case. I had no criminal history, was a Nurse, was in county jail for 6 months without even getting the bond lowered from $100k. In the end, I lost my nursing license, spent 6 months in county, and ended up with 5 years deferred probation in the worst county in Texas. This theft charge crime didn t even occur in MOCO, it occurred in Harris county. Doug never asked any details or slightly attempted to provide a defense. He shows up very LATE every court appearance (UNPROFESSIONAL), sits down with the DA smiling, laughing, and then comes to tell you he basically can t do anything and is at the mercy of the DA. There are other attorneys that are incredibly better in their career field. I will not ever be in trouble criminally again, but if I know anyone that is I will HIGHLY recommend them not to waste their money on this lawyer.

I used Doug s office and it was a terrible experience for me. If you want to be treated as you are a client that matters and receive information regarding your case, not ignored constantly I would recommend someone else. As I am pleased with the end result of my case I am not happy with the way I was treated throughout the whole year of this case. I would call for information and would get the run around and never a call back. I accepted a plea offer and they went behind my back after I already paid in form of a money order and did not inform me they were going to try to get a different offer for me (which would have been fine) until 2 months of emails and phone calls before I got a response from them about what was going on in my case. Took 3 weeks just to receive a call back from the attorney, after calling constantly asking to speak with someone regarding my case after they issued me a warrant for failure to appear even though I was told not to appear. It was appealed to a higher court which took even longer . Fast forward to court they aren t even aware of the money order that I have taken to their office and given to Sylvia so they have to go hunt it down and again offer me another plea deal. This was more of a hassle than it truly should ve been. They are so unorganized and truly do not care about their clients.

I have to recant my statement I would definitely recommend this law firm to anyone else I would ve never gotten nearly as far. The fact that my cdl is still allowed me to work just after a year of what I went through and, put on myself but, at the same time the lawyer here cared enough to even give me the super positives about what happened for me and my case. Thinking that I got screwed when in actuality I probably got off nearly Scott free considering my case. So I gotta give it to them they did an amazing job for my case and definitely appreciate them.
