The food is generally delicious and served quickly, with wait times under 10 minutes. However, over recent visits, the food has been excessively salty, to the point of being inedible, particularly the barbecue beef ribs. When we addressed the issue with staff, their dismissive response acknowledging it as a common complaint but doing nothing about it was disappointing. While the place has its strengths, the overly salty food have made us reconsider returning, especially with other BBQ spots in College Station offering better experiences.

We had a murder mystery party in one of their private rooms that they were kind enough to allow us to use for our group (random to do at a BBQ joint...I know lol but it was PERFECT). The food was absolutely delicious and wonderfully prepared, every staff member that we encountered was friendly and helpful, the facilities were immaculately clean and well presented. We had a great time and will definitely be back 10/10 !!! Thank you Coopers for taking care of our quirky group!

As a Former Ag and now a parent of two Aggies; I was surprised to have only just recently been to Coopers. If you are staying near the stadiums/campus its a bit of a hike and by that I mean a ride in a vehicle but only really 10 - 15 minutes depending on your location. The food is good if not great - definitely a true TX BBQ experience. Oddly enough I had a BBQ pork chop it was fabulous. My wife had a loaded(?) baked potatoe basically a monster potatoe with all the fixing and a meat choice. The seating is picnic tables / family style so you could have a large group sitting together. A word of caution for those wearing hearing aids or family members that have not swallowed their pride yet but need hearing aids - it is a large open room and the acoustic are tough - sit near the edges of the room. Worst case just order extra food and ask your friends later what was discussed.

I moved to Caldwell, Texas, back in 2018 from New Braunfels, where I was introduced to Coopers BBQ in 2009. Now I have to say a little bit about our history with Coopers. Coopers in NB catered our wedding and many other events we had at our property. They were always great and had wonderful attitudes, Now fast forward to 2015 after 6 years and thousands of dollars spent we walked in and the cashier gave us attitude about wanting a water cup to drink some of the tea from the gallon container we just purchased. Needless to say, it turned into a thing, and we never stepped foot in the store again. We were excited to find Coopers in CS, and we were so hoping that this store was like the Coopers of old in NB. To our delight, this Coopers surpassed the New Braunfels store by 1000%!! Every time we have come in, were greeted with not just a hello but huge smiles from staff that honestly feel like they enjoy working at this store. I enjoy walking into this Coopers and the employees here should train the employees in New Braunfels. Now the food, the food is always above par even when close to closing. I enjoy it so mu i stopped here to get a potato after having back surgery. Chicken is juicy and I dont even dunk my chicken breast, which is a great sign they understand how to cook chicken, you cant go wrong with the brisket or ribs, sausage has not been overcooked or dry, chops and loin are so tasty and I am not a huge fan of pork or meat in general. With that being said Coopers BBQ, is only 1 of 3 restaurants that I will eat meat and if I dont want any meat I turn to the most incredible baked potatoes and other sides that could satisfy any tummy. Desserts are always great and make your entire dining experience more than enjoyable. Thank Coopers of College Station for redeeming Coopers brand and name. Keep up the wonderful work, and dont change.

I went to Cooper s on yesterday and I can t believe people call this barbecue. I was up from Houston visiting a client in College Station in 8/14/2024. When i walked in I didn t smell any smoke so I knew it was going to be a problem. I got the worst cut of brisket anyone can give you. The food didn t taste like anything it was bad. I was up from Houston. I want return the service was good but the food was not tasty at all. I will try the other barbecue spot next time I am in town.

I wish I would have read an honest review of this location before we celebrated my birthday there. I am now going to give an honest review of our visit. Let me start with the ribs, there was no meat on the bones and what meat there was, was similar to jerky. Next the brisket, it was over cooked to the point it was mush and inedible. I do not make reviews, but this was garbage! It is not the Coopers barbecue we remember.

Coper s BBQ in College Station, Texas, is a true gem in the world of barbecue. During my week-long stay in College Station, I had the pleasure of exploring several barbecue joints, and Coper s stood out as an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the passion and dedication to great food and hospitality. The service at Coper s is unparalleled; it s not just attentive, but incredibly personal. Each member of the staff exudes warmth and genuine care, making you feel like a welcomed guest in their home. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Now, let s talk about the star of the show: the meat. Each bite of the beef rib, brisket, pork rib, and jalapeño and cheese sausage was a testament to the skill and expertise of the chefs. The meat was not only incredibly flavorful but also melt-in-your-mouth tender. It s clear that Coper s takes pride in sourcing high-quality ingredients and mastering the art of barbecue. But what truly sets Coper s apart is the atmosphere. The love and passion for what they do permeate every corner of the restaurant. From the inviting ambiance to the sincere smiles of the staff, you can t help but feel right at home. If you find yourself in College Station, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Coper s BBQ. It s more than just a meal; it s an experience you won t soon forget.

Good food, the brisket had a nice flavorful bark on it. If they ask if you want your meat coated in the bbq sauce, say yes... their sauce is more just a flavored liquid that will go on everything except the meat. Their banana pudding was pretty much what i expected, pretty tacky pudding base with bits of banana. We loved their all-you-can-eat beans and overall it was a good bbq place. Service was good, attentive, was approached by more than 1 person All in all good bbq place to go to if youre traveling and in general

This is our first time at this at Coopers. Its pretty sad that the bbq sauces are vinegary, the pinto beans are too salty, the cream corn literally has no flavor, I added sugar, like the forgot the sweetness. Potato salad is usually my favorite it was vinegary as well and also sour tasting. My husband said the Cole slaw was okay and the peacon cobbler was good. The meats were okay but nothing to write home about. 73 bucks for 2 people and I dont think will come back this way.

At first we were excited to see a Coopers here. We have bought from Llano store before and always get good food. Here, not so much. We bought brisket, sausage and pork ribs to eat there. The sausage seemed to be store bought and not anywhere near the level that we would expect. The brisket was a bit chewy but the pork ribs were good as expected. So, we decided to buy some more to take home and eat in a couple of days. I order a beef rib, some pork ribs and also lean brisket. I asked that the brisket not be sliced as it will get dry by the time we would eat. Well, some #%@# behind the counter actually sliced the piece that I asked for and then cut the strips in half. In addition, they the put it in a pile and put the pork ribs on top and tightly wrapped in aluminum foil. Well, when it was time to eat I did not see the package for the brisket. I did take out the pork ribs and guess what? The brisket was glued to the bottom of the ribs due to the fat forming a ball of meat that you could not take apart. As expected the meat was VERY dry and not that good. To be fair, the pork ribs were good and the beef rib was excellent, but I will say it was not worth the $45 that it cost me. OH, almost forgot to say that we also bought cole slaw and loved it. I doubt that we will be going here again as the prices have gotten out of hand.

This place sure looks the part. It is a nice restaurant. Central Texas style buffet line where they serve the meat from their hot plate. Now for the food. I should have known not to go kind of late in the day but they were open and I figured it was so popular theyd have good food. Thats where I was wrong. Ill start with the good. The jalapeno sausage was pretty good, kinda dry but had a good flavor. The light bread they served was pretty good. It was just plain old sliced bread but it was fresh and good. They have beans on the self-serve bar along with onion, pickles and jalapenos. All you want. The beans were thin, but they had a bean flavor. They were ok. Coleslaw was not bad either. Kinda sweet and sour type. Two types of BBQ sauce were also on the bar. One was vinegar based, runny with a pretty good flavor. The other was thicker with a sweeter flavor, pretty good also. It was downhill from there. Mac and cheese with brisket and jalapenos. It was tasteless. Kraft mac and cheese would have been better. 14$ Ribs were very dry. Kinda like they were deep fried after smoking. They had a strange flavor. The real reason to go to a BBQ joint is the brisket. I had a slice of moist. There was plenty of fat on there and some good looking bark. I was able to cut the first bite with a fork, it was ok with a little flavor. Then the next bite I could not cut. I had to go get a knife to cut the rest of it. Not my kind of brisket. The moist should have melted in your mouth, this did not. It just stuck in your teeth. Because of the ribs and brisket, I have to give the food a 1 star.

Worst experience ever. Came in To order and was told to order our food at a different line. After 5 people passed us was then told we were suppose to order else where. Horrible customer service and will never attempt to eat at this establishment again.

Our pellet smoker was on the fritz last night and had to cook the skin-on, bone-in chicken breasts in our air fryer and while they came out shockingly good... the absence of smoke was obvious! So I was craving smoked meats for dinner tonight. Stopped 1st at the meat pit and got 1/2 smoked chicken, 1/2lbs of beef rib, 1/4lbs of burnt-ends and goat ... then proceeded to pick-up several sides. At the sides stations we picked-up 2x side-salads , 4oz cream corn , 8oz macaroni and cheese and the 8oz loaded smashed potatoes . Thats in addition to the two different BBQ sauces and beans ! The restaurant was clean and service was attentive and friendly. All-in (with taxes and tip) we spent $84.96 for 2 adults with big appetites... given the mountain of food and respective food quality... we were quite pleased!

This place is so damn good. Gooooood lord! Some of the best sausage I ve ever had. But the pork ribs?!?!? HOW?!? So good! The seasoning, the tenderness, the crispy little end?! I can t get enough. Joe was working the front pit and had killer recommendations. 10/10 would eat again and highly recommend.

Pretty good barbecue. I had brisket, it was tender. A bit dry and not much flavor, with the most clear being black pepper around the outside. I got a half pound, seemed like a lot less than that, and for $12.50 just for the meat, seemed a bit steep. I got potatoe salad and a twice baked potato casserole loaded with bacon and cheese. That was excellent! Sauce was ok. Tasty and thick enough, nothing to write home about. Together with a soft drink, the total came out to $21.74. These days, they probably arent making much profit, but that is a bit much for a lunch of that size and quality. Very clean, inviting place with friendly faces!

Awesome place!!! The food was amazing - ordered the brisket, burnt ends, and a little bit of anything else. The sides were mediocre, but thats ok, I was only there for the barbecue. You need to have it baptized in the sauce for sure! The cobbler was to die for, every single flavor. I enjoyed the way they move you through a line and have plenty of seating! Will definitely come back here.

Not worth it. Outta the way and over priced. I ve never had drier ribs and they measure by the pound for ribs so you end up getting like 2 stringy ribs. Only perk is the free beans and bread but how many cups of beans are you willing to eat?

I mean I ve heard good things and bad mostly bad about not good bbq and it s to expensive. Went last week and as a bbq person my self and my dad being a retired chef I give this place a 1 star for all the meats their and the free beans were on point ribs salty and no flavor with in and brisket could of used less salt and more smoke time with added seasonings. Would not recommend should have listened to the wife sorry but it s a no go any more.

This is the first time Ive been to Coopers. My son decided to bring me for Bar-B-Q so I thought it was my turn to treat him. Looking at the meat since Im a big meat eater, my eyes were probably bigger than my stomach, but I was choosing for both of us, so I got everything but the ribs and sausage. A half of chicken that was extremely small, a nice sized pork chop, a slice of pork tenderloin, and marble brisket. I got the double mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and blackberry cobbler. He got jalapeños Mac and cheese, double mashed potatoes, and banana pudding. 2 large drinks. Now keep in mind all of the meat is weighed, and we chose the small 4oz cups of vegetables. When we got to the checkout, the order came to 81.00. I about fell out. After paying, you sit at a table and get all the pinto beans you can eat. Now for the food, Im not gonna lie. The food was good. The Bar-B-Q sauce added that extra touch. You could tell the potatoes and mac and cheese were the real deal. The pinto beans were excellent. The meat was tender and flavorful, although the chicken I was disappointed in as it was dry, and for 10.99, I did scoff a little. The blackberry cobbler, not a fan. Had it have had just that good ol fashion cobbler dough yes. But this had like a dark granola taste unpleasant to the taste buds. Needless to say, it was my first experience, but for the price, Im sure I can find some place else that has good Bar-B-Q.

This place has moved VERY high in my rankings around Texas. Start with the jalapeno and cheese sausage, had a nice texture with some proper firmness to the casing. Not overly spicy and just solid flavor. 7.5/10 on sausage. The brisket was a show stopper. The smoke was different so how, but in a good way. The outside bark had great seasoning on it, a must in my opinion. Id dont normally rate this high, but 9/10 on brisket. Loaded mashed potatoes were good as well, hot, lots of toppings, and good butter throughout. I tried the Coopers original sauce, I think it was vinegar based, and I dont like vinegar, so Im not capable of properly judging it. Service was super friendly. I WILL be back to try the rest of your menu.

My recent visit to Cooper s Old Time Pit BBQ left me with mixed feelings. While the restaurant itself is quite pleasant and the staff are friendly, I must say I was a bit underwhelmed by the food. I tried the chopped beef on the baked potato, but unfortunately, it didn t live up to my expectations. The flavor and texture of the beef left something to be desired. Additionally, I also sampled the brisket sandwich, which was decent but nothing extraordinary. On the positive side, the ambiance of the restaurant is nice, and the people working there are welcoming and hospitable. It s evident that they take pride in providing good service. However, for me, the food is the main draw when it comes to BBQ joints, and in that aspect, Cooper s didn t quite hit the mark.

It was big, spacious and had a great atmosphere. The people were very friendly and helpful and answered all the questions that we had. The food was even better and the seating was nice and clean. Im a big fan of their pinto beans and their corn on the cob was great too. I will definitely coming back in the future.

Ive been all over this great state and seen many places and good places to eat. But this place is the number one place Ive been to since I have been doing this Google research. I arrived a little early and a kind gentleman came outside and asked me what I was doing. I told him I wanted to come on in and take some pictures and let people know this barbecue is Good from other places I visited and he welcomed me in like Ive been living here and one of the regulars. The hospitality I received here was legendary and I wish everyone could come down here and enjoy not only the great place to get some grub on if youre hungry for some good delicious food. But enjoy the ownership and staff here as well good old folks good old food. This place also had a bar where you can come up and sit down and watch a little bit of cowboys play and some Aggie football. So if youre visiting Texas and you want to come down yonder check out this place you will not be disappointed and I want to thank the staff and owners for making me feel like this place was my second home. God bless you amen. Parking: Lots of space to park. Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
