Such a great restaurant to get soon tofu soup! This place does get busy so come early if you can. We ordered the combo special so along with the kimchi soon tofu soup we got spicy pork bulgogi and the regular beef bulgogi. All of it was delicious. The soup wasn t too spicy but just enough. The meats were seasoned well and not too overwhelming sweet or spicy. We also loved the side dishes and I thought the kimchi here is good. In my opinion, the soon tofu soup may even be better than a popular chain that s across the way. Service was great and you do pay at the counter. Overall, it is a must-try if you re in the area!

Cho Dang Village is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious Korean cuisine. The food here is consistently flavorful, with a wide variety of dishes that showcase the best of Korean flavors. Whether youre a fan of hearty soups, sizzling barbecue, or savory stews, youll find something to satisfy your taste buds. A great tip is to order a little extra so you can enjoy leftovers later the portions are generous, and the food tastes just as good the next day! The staff at Cho Dang Village are absolutely amazing. Theyre attentive, friendly, and always ready to help, making your dining experience even more enjoyable. One of the best parts is that they cook the food for you, meaning you can indulge in the delicious grilled meats without leaving with that lingering smoky smell on your clothes. Be prepared if you re visiting on the weekend, as it tends to get packed. Expect to put your name on a list, but the wait is well worth it. The food comes out pretty quick, and the restaurants lively atmosphere makes it a great place to meet up with family or friends while enjoying a memorable meal. Parking: Theres a parking lot but theres a bunch of other restaurants so youll be competing for parking

The professionalism of the servers at the most decent restaurant is a bit disappointing, but... Has the owner changed? They seem to be paying less attention to the kitchen and are having a hard time with the food. Salty, undercooked, etc. The number of customers is decreasing

We went for breakfast and this place did not disappoint. It was easily the best meal on my last trip to the area. I had the kimchi tofu soup with pork, spicy level and it was so delicious. I ate the entire bowl! I cant wait to go back. The one thing I didnt get a photo of was the seafood pancake and it was really delicious.

We usually go to BCD but we wanted to try a new restaurant. Foods here are kinda tasteless compared to bcd. Prices are similar but you get a little larger portions ($29 for a galbi combo is just crazy anyway you put it). More attentive service but they charge automatically 18% tip for party of 6.

(6-22-2024) I keep forgetting to update my review, but this place is DELICIOUS EVERY TIME. I NEVER GET TIRED OF IT. I even tried to learn how to make soondubujigae because of this restaurant. My soup will never compare still despite many tries, adding msg, adding fish sauce, etc. Their flavor is superior, and I don t think any soondubujigae can be better than this place. (1-19-2024) IT WAS DELICIOUS. Especially on such a cold day, the warm spicy soup just makes everything better. i got the beef soup and ribs. My partner got the spicy chicken. both have its perks. Ribs- make sure you really enjoy chewing ur food to get all of the flavor. Chicken- mixes very well with the delicious rice.

They increased the price significantly recently, why oh why??? Food is good. They re always jampacked with people no matter the time and there is always a line but they re efficient in getting people seated anyway. Have always been eating here and we loved the combination orders. However, it s a shame that they changed the menu and increased the price significantly just recently! No idea why. Wondering if that s the reason there were many empty seats last Sunday? Did the owner get greedy due to so many people and wants more profit? Or this is the strategy to not have so many people waiting to be seated? $25 for a combo???? Game-changer for us, we ll just redirect ourselves to any korean eat-all-you-can near the area Bye bye! It s a shame your food is good but the price is not commensurate really! Will miss cho dang village.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on a friends recommendation. We went with my friend on a Sunday around 1 PM. There was a bit of a wait, but it wasn t too bad, and it wasn t crowded by the time we were seated. We ordered the seafood tofu soup and beef bulgogi. The food was fantastic! We loved both dishes, and the portions were perfect for the two of us. Their kimchi side dishes were also delicious. However, we were very disappointed with the service. When we ordered the combo and mentioned we would share, the server muttered something that felt like disappointment about our sharing. Later, the server took away the barley tea pitcher even though it wasnt empty, and we couldnt really understand what she was saying. She kept on pointing to my friend s rice bowl and indicated we didn t need the barley tea because she mixed egg with her rice. I really dislike it when someone unsolicitedly tells me how to enjoy my food. Overall, the food is really great, but the poor service means I dont think Ill be coming back. Too bad.

Food was delicious! Pricey tho (menu went up $2) Bad service was the highlight for me, waitress shows dissatisfaction when they find out that we will share a combo even tho our bill is $40. They never checked us if we need anything (despite all our sides were empty already... :( they even took the barley tea kettle away even tho it still half and told them we want it..they said it should be put in the rice pot and it serve it purpose...Its sad...theyre telling me how should I eat my food...we were disappointed...not looking forward to come back.

Ok, I am very late to try this place out in Dfw area, however, man the food is just amazing. It s my first time trying out the Korean Banchan, and I fell straight in love with it. The stir fried glass noodles has got the perfect nutty sesame flavor, with just the right amount of vegetables. The kimchi tofu soup just made me realize how closely the Indian and Korean spices would match up The chilli powder cucumbers are just bomb. The sticky purple rice is delicious too. I normally don t like any sprouts as such, however to my surprise, I fell in love with the bean sprouts over here. I just am not able to figure out the miraculous taste of this place. I mean I am just in awe! I sure am going here again. Vegetarian options: I have asked them to remove beef from the stir fried noodles and they did it so well.

Don t waste your time driving to this place thinking they close at 10pm. Their kitchen closes at 8.45pm!!!!. You eat under pressure of them coming to your desk and asking you to pay while you re still eating because they want to close and leave soon, that s basically daylight cheating!!! Ripping you of your money and not giving the service and time to finish up dinner. This place is not maintained in a clean and hygienic way. Worst attitude and sarcasm I ve seen in waiters. Stay away! Go elsewhere! So you don t have to eat under pressure. Also this useless waitress told us we can t to go the sides we rightfully paid for. Guess they wanted to save for next day diners!!

My mom wanted to eat here for her Birthday and it did not disappoint! She made the reservation ahead of time and when we arrived, admittingly no one came to us for like 5 minutes until my sister went to the counter in the back to let someone know we were here. There were a lot of other people waiting too (some checked in possibly?). Once we sat down in our room, there was a box of metal utensils and a button for service. Drinks were water, cold or hot (boricha for hot) and the banchan and food were all so delicious! Service was great because no matter who came in, they would help us out with any requests (napkins, to go boxes, etc). I would recommend this place and I am excited to try the new location in Plano across Mitsuwa!

This place is chaotic. No structure whatsoever. Came in for lunch with a party of 4 and took over 10 minutes to talk to an employee to get seated. What frustrated me is that she never wrote down our party down, just verbally confirmed it. Then 5 minutes later the same employee asked if we got checked in yet. However, a group of corporate Korean employees came in after us and got seated immediately. Not saying the establishment favors based on race, but it seems suspicious. Nevertheless, our party left after wasting over 15 minutes trying to get seated and never getting put on the waitlist. Please consider fixing this issue moving forward.

We recently tried the Fish Egg --- and I lowkey really liked the flavor but the texture was a bit grainy bc of the fish eggs. Anyways - their banchans always hits. There are various stores around, allowing for one stop shopping for daily necessities. I found the Chodang Village Tofu Restaurant, which I had seen near Gyeongpodae in Gangwon Province, South Korea. I came here with my friend Mr. Jeong, who resides in Arlington. The interior resembled similar branded restaurants in Korea and perhaps due to the weekend, there was a long waiting time The food style and tastes were similar to Korea And prices, although different from Korea ,seemed moderate by local standards On a cold day, spicy food is good

There was a bit of a wait after adding our name to the list, and we agreed to sit at a 6-top with another table of two at the end of the table to get service faster. We ordered two combos and a veggie pancake, which was really way more food than two people could eat. I did the beef bulgogi with mushroom soup and my partner had the short ribs with seafood soup. Everything was perfectly made and full of flavor. We did have to take some home. For the price, I would pass on the pancake next time. Parking: Busy retail center parking lot.

They are known for their soondubu or tofu soup and highly recommend getting that. Spice level is adjustable and they can do no spice which is great for kids. Each meal comes with banchan and a fried yellow croaker which has tons of salty flavor if you can navigate through the bones. The LA galbi is really good as well. Meat is tender and has a great grilled flavor. Seafood pancake is also great and its of the thicker variety and comes on a hot plate. The service is always super efficient. It gets busy but the ajummas have a great system to get you your food asap. Does get pretty busy at peak times but wait times are never too long because of the efficiency.

First time here and my very first time trying Yukgae Jang and Naeng Myun. They were both so delicious! Yukgae Jang came out hot and tasted so good with the Banchan. Naeng Myun was yummy and refreshing. I think it was the owner who was so sweet to show us how to eat it by adding a little mustard and vinegar and cutting the noodles for us. They got really busy but still got us extra bowls, Banchan, and rice when we asked for them. We will definitely be back to try their Soon Tofu soup and pancake.

All-around, one of the better Korean restaurants in DFW area... Similar to quality in LA, California (without the LA prices)... The cold noodles are arrow root - healthier and a little more chewy. Try the watery one and ask nicely for a little bit of the sauce for the spicy cold noodle.. DELICIOUS! The tofu soup is good too - comparable if not slightly better than BCD. And when u order the combo (with the meat), they dont give u a smaller bowl of tofu like BCD does. They also give u tea to put in the rice, which is better.

I used to consider Cho Dang one of the best Korean restaurants in the city due to their excellent food and service. Even my father, a Korean man who is quite strict when it comes to judging food, thought that Cho Dang was very tasty. However, Ive noticed a distinct dip in the quality (and consistency) of the food and especially the quality of the service ever since the restaurant changed owners. I still think its worth going to Cho Dang for a meal because of the food alone, but I would suggest going to Musiro (another restaurant close by that also sells traditional Korean food) instead if good service is important to you. To elaborate on the bad service: most of my gripes with the restaurant are because of the inattentive waiters. I went to Cho Dang 2 days ago with two of my friends at around 8 PM. We were seated quickly but the waiters stopped paying attention to our table after they gave us the menus; I had to wave at this one gentleman (the only person who was really looking around - I think he might have been the owner) after around 10 minutes in order for my friends and I to order our food even though not all the tables were full at the time. After we received our food, it took a very long time for anyone to come by and refill water even after the cup had been emptied. Normally when this happens I look directly at the waiters and try to make eye contact so I can let them know I need something, but none of the waiters were really looking. In the end, I ended up pouring myself a cup of the barley tea thats meant for the rice. I did want to specifically mention one waitress who I thought was quite disparaging and/or rude - I never got her name but she was an older woman who had glasses and a bob cut. My friends and I all ordered tofu soup and when she was handing us our soup, she stared me down and slowly repeated the word kimchi a couple of times when I asked for clarification on which specific kimchi tofu soup she was putting down on the table... yes, I know what kimchi is, Im asking because we all ordered different kimchi soups with different spice levels, okay!! It honestly wasnt a big deal and I wouldnt have mentioned it if thats the only thing that happened. However, my father, mother, and their work colleagues also had issues with this same woman when they went to Cho Dang yesterday for dinner... and unfortunately, their experience with her was much worse than mine. Because my father and mother came with colleagues who were not very familiar with Korean food and drinks, my father asked the waitress for both water and barley tea in case the work colleagues didnt like the taste of the barley tea. This waitress told my dad something along the lines of That will be too much work. Ill give you diluted barley tea instead. After they had received the diluted barley tea, my dad later asked her for some normal, undiluted barley tea, but the waitress said that she had already given them barley tea (a lie, she had given them diluted tea that was little more than slightly flavored water) and REFUSED TO SERVICE THEM. The request wasnt exorbitant at all and there was no reason for her to turn down the request. I believe that the attitude of this waitress is a huge problem and I feel that its important for other potential customers to know that this is the level of service they might receive if they choose to dine at Cho Dang. Cho Dang was a great restaurant in the past and it has the makings of a great restaurant in its future; as of right now, however, I find it harder and harder to justify going to Cho Dang over other restaurants like Musiro, Maht Gaek, and Ddong Ggo when the food and especially service are both compromised. Im giving it a pretty negative score of 2 stars, but I do so with the hopes that the issues I and my family have with the restaurant will be addressed in the future.

Consistent. [7/4/2021] Very friendly and superb value. The first page soft tofu meal costs $12 per person. They are very tasty. This place was packed on Sunday night. The restaurant is at the back of the main h-mart area. So, this restaurant has to do many things right to pack itself this busy. I am so glad this non Korean bbq buffet place doing great. I am tired of a lot Korean restaurants becoming Korean bbq buffets.

We come here A LOT! This will be the last time we come here. We waited about 20 minutes at the table, when I stopped the male waiter, I asked if he could help us as no one had stopped to help us. Now, the table across from us came in after us and the immediately got menus, water and their food were ordered. The male waiter takes our order and gives us water. We then wait 10 minutes before our side dishes come out and then another 20 minutes before our tofu soup comes. We are eating for about 15 minutes and the male waiter brings our check! I didnt ask for it. I leave it on the edge and continue eating. Then another female waiter stops by and scoots the check tray further inland. That was it. I put the card on the check tray, and we were going to ask for to go boxes. We waited over 15 minutes before anyone would come and pick up the check tray; and by that time, we didnt even ask for to go boxes. Now, remember that table across from us, they came after us and left before us. They had 4 people and we had 2. They all ordered tofu and so did we. Another table also got their food before us and they were in front of us. We are not Asian, so I understand the language barrier might be an issue. But we shouldnt have to go through all of that.

I got bibimbap with bulgogi in a hot stone. The bulgogi was alright. It was good, but not amazing. The bibimbap was ok. I did not like the rice in the bibimbap. It was very wet and mushy, and I think they added too much water to the rice when cooking it. There was a fried fish appetizer, but it had too many small bones to be enjoyable. For the price of the bibimbap, I was expecting the rice to be better.

Vegetarian options: I get the Kimchi tofu soup. Which is VERY flavorful. More of a vegetable option. The side dishes comes with plenty of flavor and they constantly ask if you want more sides, they also bring the yellow fish out hot. We noticed a few employees were eating Kimbop and we thought they had it on the menu. However they didn t-but they shared a couple of pieces BEFORE they ate and told us we re we could purchase it. We now get our Kimbop at that location They are closed on Wednesday-so my daughter and I tried a different one. And quickly regretted it The food was not good-the menu not very clear and hospitality was awful. We didn t tip either-to many red flags not to We are going to Cho Dang Village today-because they have great hospitality- which makes for good and flavorful meals and the menu is very clear.

Absolutely horrible service. Will not visit again. I understand that they can be busy, but I have to agree with others here. Waitresses don t care. My food was given to someone else and they brought it back to me without much apology. I asked them to confirm, Is this my order/food? They just walked away from my table whispering, Yeah, yeah. I speak Korean fluently, so no language issue there. They also brought the food back to their kitchen to fix it, I am not completely sure what they actually did because the food looked the same. Be transparent and don t be shady if you made a mistake. Just apologize, that s ALL you had to do. I used to be in restaurant industry and actually was a general manager for a restaurant doing multiple millions in annual sales, so I understand how mistakes can be made. However, their nonchalant and unenthusiastic attitude gives me too much bad vibes.
