DO NOT GO HERE. Had dinner with 9 friends here last Friday night and it was the worst dining experience I ve ever had in my 10 years of living in Austin. We spent over $1k and I will never go back here. We celebrated a birthday and ordered cocktails once we sat down. The restaurant was crowded and we didn t see the waitress for about 20 minutes. She said the cocktails were taking a little bit. Totally fine and no issue. She took our food orders and we decided to add some wine to the bill. Another 15-20 minutes. Still no cocktails. The waitress explained it was taking a little bit, but offered to open the wine up and we concurred. The cocktails finally came after about 45 minutes. The food then took an absurd amount of time to come. We ordered steaks medium rare and they came out medium/medium well. We were not drunk or an obnoxious party. I would say we were very good customers and never complained about the overcooked meat. Since we were a large party, it was clear the staff knew they were getting a mandatory 20% tip so they didn t treat us with any urgency. We were there for so long the entire restaurant cleared out and we decided to add another steak (the waitress cleared the steaks when we ordered were enough). Again, totally fine. Here is the biggest POS move by the restaurant: the waitress came over laughing and goes so I hear we are celebrating a birthday! How about we get some shots! What kind of shots do we want? She was clearly insinuating they were going to be free since we spent so much $ and waited so long for drinks, but when we clarified she said ..no . She was trying to upsell us on everything yet the service was horrible. Bizzare service. When we got the bill, they thought we wouldn t notice if they put stuff on it that we didn t order. We asked for bread and never got it. So many things were terrible with this place. I don t write reviews much, but please take the time to read this if you are thinking about attending this place. It was horrible service and incredibly overpriced. The steaks were average at best. We didn t get anything comped for in the end. We never complained or made a big deal of it because we were celebrating our friend. But this was the worst experience I ve had at a supposedly nice restaurant .

Great location (right in the middle of downtown) and excellent delicious food. I came here for a private event - the inside was very spacious and cozy with plenty of seating, and great service. The food was lip smackingly delicious. The File Mignon was top class, and flavorful. Everything else from the salad, accompaniment, to the dessert were all fantastic. Highly recommended Steakhouse.

My wife and I recently dined at the Roaring Fork, downtown Austin location. We had previously been there before and had a great meal but didnt realize it was the same restaurant we previously enjoyed. I had the rainbow trout and my wife had the pork tenderloin. Both were very good. Service was great (Ty was our server) and atmosphere wad equally as good. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area. We stayed at the Driskill Hotel and it was a convenient block or so walk to the Roaring Fork.

Had reservations here, went to a graduation. graduation ran late. They charged us 100 dollars. Said they had servers staffed for our table as if they didn t have those servers scheduled to work. This place is also NEVER packed at 1 pm. Will absolutely never be dining here ever again, I suggest you don t either. Food is sub par at best too, manager sucks.

We went for our anniversary dinner while visiting Austin. Atmosphere was very relaxing in the dining room. One small negative for the night was it was a little too dimly lit for us but it could just be in the table we sat at as there were over lighting options on other tables. We had Ty as our waiter and he was just excellent in every way. I ordered the fillet and my partner has the ribeye. Both were excellently cooked and seasoned. I like how Ty asked us to cut into our steaks when they arrived to ensure they were cooked to our liking. Nice touch. The sides of mash potato, broccolini and Brussels sprouts with bacon were all delicious. We had the peppercorn sauce which was also tasty. We both had dessert cheesecake and pecan pie - both equally delicious. We felt the price, service and atmosphere were a ten to make our anniversary dinner a special night. Highly recommend.

Great food! Its a good place for a date night where you want a fancier restaurant, but not pretentious. Its a classic steakhouse with well executed dishes. Theyve got some specialty dry aged steaks you can share as well. I was especially surprised by their queso con puerco. I wasnt expecting much and it really was quite great. We went through that well before our guacamole order. Parking: The hotel has discounted valet parking ($10) for 3 hours if you tell them youre going to the Roaring Fork.

Building and location are great, staff is absolutely amazing! The steak? The chef cooks it properly and the seasoning is good BUT very poor quality beef for the cost. You can literally get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse. The owners are sourcing beef from a Chicago company and also buying farm raised fish! Texas has amazing beef ranches and the Gulf of Mexico is literally 3.5 hours away Roaring Fork is crap on a cracker.

Food was fantastic. We had the fish special (halibut), burger and shared a 26oz rib eye. We also shared the green chilli pork stew and everyone loved it. Hamburger was gigantic and the steak was cooked perfectly. We had fries, green chilli mac cheese and brussels sprouts (with onions/bacon) as sides - they were incredible. The only thing better than the food was the service. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and they went above and beyond expectations on a busy Friday night.

Went there for moms 60th and the food was not good compared to three years ago. We had a group of 12 and we will not be going back. Found a place that is consistent every time we go. Tru lucks is where we celebrate our memories. The waiter left us for another table and didnt come back, the food was not hot and overall not good. The nice thing about RF was we were able to bring bunt cakes in for moms birthday. The parking was difficult as well, but now we know about the restaurant being attached to the hotel.

Met some friends here during my visit to Austin. I made the reservation while on the east coast and didnt realize that the time did not convert correctly. The day I landed, I received a reminder about my appointment for an hour later than I expected. A phone call to the restaurant, and they were able to update the reservation time easily. Thankfully, they werent fully booked. My friends and I were seated immediately upon arriving. Our server was very helpful and friendly. The water did not taste very good here. It had a soapy taste to it. I did tell the server, and she replaced it, but it still had a horrible taste. Everyone enjoyed their food, but my friends (whove never had mussels) and my daughter RAVED about the mussels. They were ABSOLUTELY delicious. There were many items on the menu that piqued my interest, and I cant wait to return to this beautiful city to try them all. A DEFINITE recommend 4/5.

Rather laid back and comfortable. I arrived a little after the lunch crowd, but the restaurant was clean and ready. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the bartender. Ordered a whiskey and a burger. They have a Big A-- Burger and a Half A-- Burger (my censor, not theirs). Difference is 12 oz vs. 8 oz. I had the 8 oz, and bartender immediately understood when I ask for the Half Burger. The hamburger was well prepared and plenty. I didnt even eat much of the fries. I would like to try a dinner there the next time Im in Austin.

Here goes .. We were back home in Austin for my dad s funeral the next day (6 Feb). This place, for decades, has always been a go to favorite for my family. However, Sunday was not a good night for several reasons. My wife and I flown in from Lynden WA and our daughter from Naval Air station Lemoore CA. We joined my sister s family. Eight of us total My wife s side salad was basic and right sized. Pork entre was a little dry but edible. My martini was not what I ordered. It was not dirty and did not have stuffed blue cheese olives. Our server was new and delightful! First night on the job. I walked my drink back to the bar a short 25 ft from our table. Presented my drink and explained what I ordered and was instructed by both males to give it to my server. I did and it was returned like I wanted. I just didn t like the two bartenders attitude. My steak was ordered warm pink center not over cooked but medium rare. Not a cheap ribeye but large, with enough left over to take home. It was undercooked and I mean RAW in most places. I sent it back waited 15 min and was returned. The corn bead stuck to the cast iron skillet and was hard like a rock and only softened by the runny and watery Queso. Yuck The side shrimp however was good and consistent with what I remembered. The desert was a disaster. Out of pecan pie .bummer. So, I ordered the Cream Brule. Not good. It was soupy with a sugar crust. Looked like a melted milk shake. My coffee was delivered ROOM TEMPERATURE!! I thought how the F does this happen. I asked my wife to stick her finger in the cup and she said not here moron I ll just feel the cups outside. By this time I was tired and overly disappointed because this was not the experience I was hoping for. The coffee came back hot. I drank it and we left. I am a retired Navy Sub Commander, Naval Academy grad and home town boy visiting Austinite for years since 1972. My dad retired Colonel out of Bergstrom AFB a F4 pilot for 30 years pilot and 93. His passing had no influence on my critique or the poorly prepared food. Maybe this was just an off night for the cooks I don t know but more than one person in the kitchen and the bar were off their game. The only person that was exceptional, delightful, courteous and pleasant was the recent Texas State grad Tera who was working her first night. She made our evening despite the off food, drinks and dessert. Bottom line is the evening for me was a disappointment. My past experience has ALWAYS been over the top and exceptional. I spoke to Grace a manager this evening about our experience. My wife and I are heading back tonight for dinner before we return home tomorrow and sadly say goodbye to Austin. I m confident tonight will be a better experience. USNA grad, retired Navy Sub Skipper and native Austinite. CDR Scott D Waddle USN Ret

Paid extra for a 50 day dry cure 20oz ribeye that never should have hit the grill in a so-called steak house. It was tough, grisly and had a mostly stale flavour. When we complained about the quality of the steak, the manager did not seem surprised, and adjusted the bill by a mere 25%. Felt a lot more like a tourist trap than a bonafide steak house.

Our first time here was wonderful. Our server Andres was attentive and helpful. We got the trout, ribeye steak and the green chili Mac and cheese. The steak was cooked to perfection. The flavor and sear on the trout was amazing. And the green chili mac and cheese is delicious for anyone who enjoys hatch green chili dishes. We also had the flourless chocolate torte - it has changed my mind about flourless dessert in a good way. The atmosphere was louder than we expected. Our table was near the kitchen so that noise combined with the noise from some loud large parties was subpar. However the food and our server made up for it. If you re staying at the Hilton Austin this hotel is walking distance from there.

Disclaimer: we did not order a steak Now that we have that out of the way, the service and vibe were 10/10 what you would expect out of a steakhouse like this. We stopped by for lunch during a work trip. We got the trout, sliders, and the French onion soup. The first two were just okay. Nothing really to be wowed by, as I ve had many versions of the same dish that have been better. (Especially the au jus). The French onion soup however was amazing, just a little too much cheese for the average person I d imagine but no complaints for me. If this place was cheaper, it would be a 4+ star but with the price factored in, I can t say I d be back over other places like Perry s.

We walked in with no reservations and were just hoping for the best. Were flexible diners and there was one table vacant at the bar so wed sat down right away! We had an awesome server (I believe his name was Jeffery) and he was fantastic. Very engaging, great personality, and he kept us informed on our appetizer and the meal. This was one time where we had the chance to relax and just enjoy the night! We choose the Queso Con Puerco, a great starter! A fantastic flavor and would recommend! We ran out of chips but our server kept on top of it and we quickly had a refill. Our drinks were the Sweet Potato Old Fashion - Im not much of a bourbon guy but that was a unique drink I had to try! My entree was the Rainbow Trout w/Sautéed Green Beans - excellent choice!! Since we took our time dining we decided one last drink before heading back to the hotel - I opted to not go with the same drink. I chose The Bees Knees - Gray Whale Gin, Honey & Lemon. It was definitely different. I would highly recommend trying this place if you make Austin a travel destination. Or if you live here put that on the to do list for a dining adventure. However, making reservations is probably a good idea.

When I checked in to the hotel I saw this place attached and went over and asked if I could order a drink and take it to my room. They said absolutely. I feel bad I don t know their names but the two people working the bar were so accommodating and know how to make a real Old Fashioned! After going and settling in, we decided to come back here for dinner before heading out for the night. The food was fantastic! The drinks are incredible! But what did it for me was the service. I m 30+ years in the service industry and I can recognize genuine service. We were so lucky to be sat in Lauren s section. She is an incredibly kind, funny, and very knowledgeable of their menu items server! If you come here you must ask for Lauren tell them Marc sent you . An absolute gem of a place. The esthetics of the restaurant is really nice. Beautiful establishment. Our waiter was very sweet and informational on the menu to help me with my selection. Of course when I go to a restaurant Ive never been to, I always take the waiters opinion/suggestion with great thought and consideration. However, I was very unpleased with the amount of money I paid for the service and the food. We had been seated for approximately 15 minutes and nobody has came to even speak to us. There wasnt even a host/hostess at the door or anywhere to be found for that matter to show me where my group was sitting so I was just walking around looking for my group. Still nobody came up to me and asked if I needed help because I did. We sat in there for 3.5 hours. The drinks probably was the fastest thing to come out. The food took the entire night to come out. I waited about 30-45 minutes for the appetizers and entree to come out for me to not enjoy it. I ordered the salmon and it was very bland. I only ate a corner of it, I honestly just couldnt enjoy it. For a 20% gratuity to be included Id prefer the service and food to be just a little better. Parking: Theres a parking garage thats very tight right behind the restaurant.

My steak was great, cooked perfectly and they made sure it was before they left the table. The Cheesy Grits have shaved slices of serrano pepper. Everything was amazing. We finished dinner at 7:15, the server took care of our payment promptly and we strolled next door for the show. What a great experience!

Stonelake area was amazing experience for an Austin, Texas vibe. Accommodations were gladly and graciously accepted for our seating area with an infant. The staff were prompt for refills without myself or my family even noticing we needed another refill for water. This is is exact atmosphere for having a wonderful time for the atmosphere of the party. I saw couples outside drinking wine by the fire pit, some on the balcony, some cozy in a booth, larger parties seated for 20 people, the bar happy, and my baby was with her family happy as could be. Wonderful experience! Salad iceberg was overflowing with food, fish tacos were not greasy as other places I visit. Chips were not over salted.

Ahoy, gourmet mates! Me visit to Roaring Fork was like sailing into a cove of culinary wonders! The dishes, as exquisite as treasures from the deep, were a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The steak, cooked to smoky perfection, was as satisfying as a hearty meal after a long day at sea. The sides, each a masterpiece of flavor, complemented the feast like a fine rum accompanies a sailors tale. The crew, as skilled and attentive as the finest navigators, ensured our dining experience was smooth sailing. The ambiance, with its rustic charm, was as inviting as a warm cabin on a chilly night. For its exceptional cuisine and top-notch service, Roaring Fork gets a roaring five parrots out of five from this food-loving pirate!

OK, if you are only familiar with this place in North Austin, you have no idea how much better this place is Downtown. The shaved beef tenderloin carpacchio with onions and crispy capers was delicious!!! The aged dried steak options are so good. The 8oz filet, cooked Pittsburgh style, and medium rare with caramelized onions and mushrooms is so good yo!!! I actually woke up this morning remembering how good it was . Ill keep keep it simple for you, if you gotta dine out downtown and eat very well $$$, this is the place to go!! It was worth every penny.

I dined in at this location once and got take-out once while in Austin at a conference. We LOVED the Green Chile Pork Stew (so much that we came back to get it for take-out the next day), Bacon & Onion Brussels Sprouts, Waldorf Salad, and mango sorbet. Super delicious and pretty good prices! The service was pretty different the two times we came in. When we dined in for lunch, the service was bland and robotic, almost arrogant. But when we got take-out the following evening, as we sat at a bench waiting for our food, the people at the hostess stand engaged in conversation with us and were so friendly and nice to talk to. I would definitely come back.

I was hosting friends from Houston this weekend who were in town for a conference and they decided on the Roaring Fork for dinner. Our waiter, a bearded gentleman in his mid forties, was awesome. He was super pleasant and did a great job. The food was great. From the steaks, fish, mussels, desserts .all great. We were a group of 7 and at the end of our meal as some folks were wrapping up dinner my buddy came over from the other side of the table to chat briefly before we all left. He had just paid the tab, over $800 and wanted to briefly chat before we all headed our separate ways for the evening. He placed his glass of water on the empty neighboring table when our pleasant evening got ruined by what I m assuming was one of their managers. She came over and rudely told my friend not to put his glass of water on the table. I was shocked at her attitude and brash way she told him. I was super embarrassed and quickly asked her why. She said because he was going to ruin the place setting/ cleanliness of the table for future guests. What?!? He just spent $800 and she essentially undressed and embarrassed him in front of his whole staff, friends, and his wife all because he placed a glass of water on a linen table. She gave our table icy stares as she walked by one last time. She was blonde, mid 30 s I guess, with a huge tattoo on her left arm. Hard to miss. We had such a great evening and it was a shame that at the eleventh hour someone could ruin our experience in a fleeting moment. I rarely if ever write reviews but it s been gnawing at me all night. I hope it was just a bad night for her and she realizes what a poor choice she made in handling a very simple situation.

Spent over $100 here by myself at 3pm Steak came out like a weiner but it s w/e Waited about a hour for my steak. Definitely One of the worst steaks I ve ever had. I ordered a medium and Steak came out super raw and cold like sushi. Ate some of it cold thinking it was just a warm spot.. so prob gonna be sick after this.. I had to send back the first steak ever in my life. my sliders came 15 mins after the steak and it was terrible super dry. Also asked kindly to charge on a charger they had and guy was unhelpful.

I rarely make an effort to do a review and always give a restaurant the benefit of the doubt when service is bad. However, I felt that I should provide a review as our service was so bad this past weekend. We booked several months ago as F1 was in town. We have been before and always enjoyed the experience. Our server was pleasant but really not good. We were a group of 8. She did not get our cocktails right, brought the wrong wine which she decanted without allowing us to taste or verifying the bottle. Our mains arrived with no sides despite them all being ordered together. All of these issues would have been solvable with a bit of attention and an apology but that never happened. Maybe the restaurant is better depending on the server but we will not be returning.

The food was great and great atmosphere. The music is gentle and the front desk team is so kind and helpful. I came here with my wife and her family from Vietnam. We were celebrating our marriage, we got married the night before. When we ordered our drinks and appetizer the drinks were brought quickly which was perfect. The appetizer never came though until I asked the server about it, he said he forgot to order the appetizer so we waited from 9-930 to get our appetizer. The next issue was a hair on my appetizer dish. I then subtly told the server so my party wouldn t know and he brought me a new plate. When I asked the server if I could buy some more breadsticks for the appetizer we had he didn t listen to what I was saying and just placed the dirty plates on our appetizer pan. I spent more than $200 and left a nice tip but felt the whole experience was not worth the value. I will leave a positive note that the atmosphere is very nice for people of all ages. Parking: Theres a garage nearby.

When we complained about the service, the managers response was, We don t have to service you and told us to leave. Humiliated us in front of my Dad. Worst place, worst service I don t suggest you go drop $80 on a steak to be treated like trash. Avoid this overpriced Tourist trap at all costs.
