The building supervisor has let this library go to trash. They are absolutely okay with junkies shooting up in their bathroom, needles around the entryway, and the entire entryway full of homeless and their carts. But they have a problem with a library card holder sitting down with a scooter.... Thats strange to see a place that would rather have junkies around KIDS then a wheeled vehicle. But thats okay, most businesses here are fine with my scooter, including city hall. But the library? No, theyre only fine with the needles and homeless carts.

Used the drive up book drop to return a bunch of books and a few days later noticed one was still checked out. I went inside and told them I returned all my books and that it must be an error. I also went inside multiple times after and looked on a ton of bookshelves to see if it was shelved without checking in. To no avail. Then this week we got a bill for a $17 replacement book. Ironic the book was about Passover and this is the first time I ve felt like antisemitism at its finest. Ironic a Passover book for children goes missing when I ve never had it so much as a fine for any book I ve ever checked out. So much for trying to help, be honest and actually take time to try to help find what they lost and are making me pay a fine for. Will never use them again. DO NOT USE THE OUTSIDE BOOK DROP!

I wish they had more events designed for kids who have parents who work Monday through Friday. Unfortunately they only have events for children who have a stay at home parent. Theyre all in the middle of the day on a weekday. I know on the weekend they have larger family events, but I wish they could do some smaller ones like the little art/music classes based on age on the weekends too. I feel like thats not very inclusive.

As a frequent visitor to Arlington public library, I must say that it is an absolute gem in our community. With its excellent variety of books, fun activities, and classes for all ages, this library truly has something for everyone. One of the things I love most about this library is its focus on providing a space for children to interact and grow their love of reading. The kids section is thoughtfully designed, with a great selection of age-appropriate books that cater to diverse interests. Additionally, the library has a remarkable collection of international books, allowing readers to explore cultures and stories from around the globe. Whether youre looking for popular fiction, non-fiction, or even bilingual books, youre sure to find it here. What truly sets Arlington public library apart is the range of classes and workshops available for both kids and adults. These engaging and educational sessions are led by knowledgeable and passionate staff, making learning a fun and interactive experience. In summary, Arlington public library is a welcoming and inclusive space that fosters a love of learning in people of all ages. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to read, learn, and grow!

Dangerous location with no procedures in place! The front of the library has 4 lanes of traffic. A train crosses at that area too. They do not give you bags to help with the book load rented nor do they let you use the baskets. You have to juggle the books and your safety with absolutely no help. I frequent the library with my 3 children (7yo, 4yo & 2yo). I have instilled a love of reading & print in my children so when we leave we have a large load of books. There is a woman in her 50s with neck length light brown hair & cat eye glasses at the front that refused to give me a plastic bag, refused to let me leave my library card to utilize a basket & smiled & watched me (with a smile) as I struggled to carry books and hold my children s hands to cross this dangerous street. We utilized the crossing that gives you 20 seconds to cross but it wasn t enough for a 2yo that could only hold my finger. They should really offer bags, let you leave a library card to utilize the basket & make sure you return it or have a person on hand to help. I love this library but it s dangerous & because of that should have procedures in place to help. They should also hire caring staff up front. A caring person wouldn t watch another woman struggle with small children to cross this dangerous street.

The library itself is great. But the librarians are SO loud. I know how much it sucks working at a boring workplace but it becomes extremely hard to study when the librarians are cackling like hyenas. Ive been on the third floor for three hours and for the entirety of the last two, the librarians have been engaged in their own conversation, cackling like hyenas every thirty seconds. If you want to engage in such lively conversation with your co-workers, then a librarian job is not the job for you.

This library is amazing. It is well stocked with all types of media like books, movies, audiobooks, and more. I can name a few facilities that are available here, such as private meeting rooms, semi private study rooms/booths, table sets among the shelves, seats of all shapes/sizes, outlets, a protected charging station, help desks, water fountains, water bottle refill stations, a kids play area, a rooftop garden lounge, computers, Wi-Fi for library card owners, bathrooms, art, the DISCOVER! sculpture on first floor that can double as a couple of seats, and probably more! I want to emphasize how modern this library is, they have computers everywhere for accessing their catalog and the internet, the water bottle refill stations are automated, the protected charging station is automated; I am particularly impressed with the automated self checkout for books and other media too. The servers for the online catalog are also fast and organized too, one could check out online ebooks/audiobooks from anywhere without even having to make a trip to the library. So far I have not had any negative interactions with staff, in fact they have all been so very sweet to me by showing me where books are, how to get a library car, and explaining to me how the self checkout system works.

The facility is immaculate, and well stocked. My issues are when you return and item and it says that it wasn t turned in, it is YOUR fault and if they don t find it too bad you pay for it! The kids area is amazing but ANYTHING louder then a whisper and your kid gets told to be quiet. What is the kids area for then? Yeah I get no shouting but how can a kid be a kid? Also how rude and unwelcoming can a staff be? They seem bothered when you have a question, don t bother asking for help using the copier or any other machine.

Ive been here a few times & have loved the location. Still do but decided to make this review for other people wondering. I bought food to eat & brought into the library, sat at a table with no one around or anything that I could ruin, but was told I could only eat my food on the 3rd floor balcony (in triple digit weather). I made sure to research the website to see if there was a rule about it, I also saw NO signs anywhere in the buildng about not being able to have food. So now I am in my car, eating, after having already carried my backpack & books to the 2nd floor & settled at a table. Very irritating. It has tainted my experience because I could have avoided the frustration & inconvenience altogether had they made clear signs within the vast building &/or notice about it on their website.

People always talking on cellphones and kids running around screaming. Even if you book one of the private rooms they arent sound dampening. There is no silent floor on this library. Thus you are pretty much required to bring headphones if you want to concentrate. I understand kids will be kids but maybe I am just old school but I believe there should be at least one silent floor here.

I would strongly advise you not to come here for passport services. My experience was horrible, and I wasn t even able to get my passport renewed. For context, I m a high school student and my parents both work. Like most people, it s difficult to find time to take care of stuff like getting your passport renewed. Luckily, the library accepted walk-ins so I went with my Mom right after school. I got my number and sat down, waiting patiently for 6+ hours. We asked for a time estimate in the beginning, but they gave very vague answers. During those hours, they were only able to help around 25 people. That is insane, only 25 people in 6+ hours. Still, I waited all that time, and I was one of the last people so I was sure that I d be able to get my passport renewed quickly, as I had all of the required documents. There was 5 minutes left till 9, and they decided to turn away me and another person. We both waited 6+ hours to come home empty handed. That is unbelievable. They gave no updates or cut-off times during the whole process. One of the reasons why they took so long, which the front office lady admitted she was in the wrong of, was the fact that they admitted people who didn t have the necessary paperwork which made the process 4x longer. This could ve easily been solved, but it wasn t. Also, it appears only one person is taking care of all of the passport services when there are 50+ people to help. Why did they think this was a good idea ? I have no clue.

Okay, so this is my review on the passport acceptance facility. I would not recommend coming here for passport need while they just recently offered this service. First off, they allow walk ins. however, what they do not tell you is that you can walk in but it is not guaranteed that you will be seen. The first time walking in was on a Saturday. I got there right when they opened (12pm) and I was told that they were not accepting any more walk ins because they reach capacity. I was also told that people line up 3hrs before they open. So, I did just that the next visit. A few of us were lined up early outside the main door. There is absolutely no structure at that Library. They had people lined up at the main door and the exit door. It doesnt matter if you are first in line, it counts once you are inside. The doors being opened are not prioritized. it is based on which door the workers get to first. (that was the reason provided by the workers) We stood in line for 6 hours only for them to open the exit door first so everyone on the opposite side who was probably in line for only 30mins-1hr got in first. Now, once you are inside, they take your name and give you a number and let you know that you are not guaranteed to be seen. There is only one person processing applications. If someone doesnt have all the forms together, it makes the process slower. It is basically a waiting game. There is no organization. People tend to skip and nothing is done about it. I am not sure what the point is of taking a number if they do not check when they call it out. There were a few of us that almost made it to be seen but once they closed, the lady processing applications took one more person and then told the rest of us, okay, bye which I personally thought was pretty rude. It was pretty frustrating when you are wasting a whole day hoping to be seen. A friend of mine told me about going to the courthouse. I went on my lunch break and was in and out within 10-15 mins. No line and the ladies were very nice. If you can find a location close to you during the week, I suggest you try going there. The courthouse also has the wait times online, which is in real time. that was very helpful to plan my trip there. The passport agency at the library definitely needs better structure and more help to get more applications processed and give people an opportunity to be seen the same day they arrive.

THIS REVIEW IS NOT OF THE LIBRARY ITSELF BUT OF THE PASSPORT ACCEPTANCE FACILITY LOCATED WITHIN THE LIBRARY. You will thank me for this review. Please don t go here for your passport needs especially if you have minors. This is how the process goes; line up outside of the library before it opens, rush to get in line to sign up at the desk for passport services, wait for hours not knowing when you will be called. This facility and the woman processing the passports is a joke. This is a walk in facility but you have to line up outside the library 30 minutes before it opens up or you will not get to sign up on the list. Even after you sign up, the library staff and the passport processing woman take the sign in sheet and you will never have a chance to look at it again to see how far down the list you are. You are basically stuck there until they close since you don t know where you stand in the list and they might call you anytime and you might miss it if you step outside. If they happen to call you if you have stepped outside to get fresh air, you lose your spot in the line. Also, the woman processing the passports lets people jump lines since no one else can see the sign in list. She lets people come back later in the day and fill the paperwork if they do not have required documents. This displaces and pushes people further down the line and leave people waiting endlessly for hours hoping to be next. We waited with our 9 month old baby for 4 hours on a Sunday and were told rudely at the end that the library was closing and we needed to come another day. Save your time and save yourself misery, agony and frustration and make an appointment elsewhere. That evening, I made an online appointment with the post office and got one for 2 weeks out. At least I have a confirmed appointment now and it sure won t take me 4 hours of wait time.

When I ran into friends from Mansfield here, they said, We dont mind driving 30 minutes to spend the day here. With a vast selection of books, movies, games for the kids and more, I wouldnt mind driving an hour just to spend the day here!

Went there looking for a private study room, there are none. One room available to rent, but must sign up in advance and cost something like $10+. Can t speak to book selection or other services, but not helpful for my needs.

I know. I know. Libraries cant really be this cool, right? WRONG! My kids are sad theyve aged out of the Discovery Kids Area. Well, until they went upstairs to see the Teen section. We love all the Arlington Public Libraries, though!
