The first thing I noticed when I walked into the restaurant was the incredibly warm and inviting decor. There were so many amazing details in the design of the restaurant from the photos of the chefs and owners, down to the glassware selection. Our server was so friendly and provided exceptional service to our table throughout the night. The drinks were out of this world and it just kept getting better as the night went on. The FOOD!!! I cannot stress enough the tenderness of the meat we had. You can tell that everything is locally sourced from the taste of the meat alone. All our dishes were so creative and well thought out. Everything from the flavor of the food to the presentation was truly top notch. I cannot wait to come back!!!!

Second Update: 9/21/24 Tonight, we experienced what I can only say was the difference between a kitchen that is busy and one that is not. One cocktail was fixed wrong, wrong sides were brought to our table, my steak was nearly charcoal on the outside, and the brussel sprouts were burnt. For a $200 anniversary dinner, we were very disappointed. Inconsistency is the ruin of many restaurants. We wont be back. Update: My wife and I had a date night meal. Everything was Top Drawer. Service from everyone was outstanding. We ordered dishes that you cant get everywhere. Superbly done. I would say if you dont like something you ordered, it is not because it was prepared poorly. We will be back next month for our anniversary. Just doing a Google search. Looks like a very interesting, upscale place. Dietary restrictions: They offer GF, DF, and V food selections.

Food and atmosphere were excellent! So glad Waco has another nice restaurant to dine at. Plenty of tasty appetizers to choose from. There was a noticeable wait to for the server to take our drink/food order. Steak was slightly too salty but cooked to order though. Their potato fries are too chunky for my liking. Everything else was absolutely delicious: Brussels sprouts, burger, bao buns, ribeye, and Mac and cheese is what we ordered. Wish I had room for dessert.

Nothing but exceptional! From service, to decor, to beautiful, creative, balanced, delicious dishes, we were very impressed. This restaurant has everything you could want in a fine-dining steak house. The atomosphere is a mix of classy-cozy-vintage-eclectic. Our serve Tyler was very friendly and knowledgeable. Even the restaurant manager Matt came over and made us feel quite welcome. The Butcher s Cellar is a place we will be returning to. Thank you guys for a wonderful dining experience.

Celebrated my husbands birthday here and we were both very pleased. It is beautifully decorated and we enjoyed great attentive service. We were treated to a complimentary appetizer as first time guests which was a nice hospitable touch. We had steak, the mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. We also tried the key lime creme brule for dessert. All the dishes were on point and well presented. We enjoy fine dining in Dallas and other larger cities, and we were pleased to find such a great experience here in Waco! We will definitely return!

Waco/Woodway needed a place like this. Walking in the vibe is very fresh. House margarita : delicious and very fresh. Honey Basil lemonade: the perfect amount of basil and different flavors complimented each other very well. Shareables: Lobster Roll: old Bay lobster salad on milk buns, with lemon and chive! Baby Gem Salad: personal favorite, bread crumbs, pickled onion, Parmesan, Calabrian chili Cesar dressing. So delicious!!! Grilled Oysters: chorizo butter, pickled chilis, lemon. Wagyu Meatballs: iron table wagyu, Calabrian chili, marinara, burrata, Parmesan Spicy tuna crispy rice. The base are crispy (fried) rice squares. Topped with delicious tuna. Super fresh tasting. The pickled Serrano is amazing. Adds just the right spice. Would absolutely recommend! 1000-layer potato: fun shareable food. Very thin sliced potatoes stacked into 1000 layers. Oysters: the citrus was just right in the sauce. Just perfectly flavored. Mushroom risotto: very flavorful and delicious. Strongly recommend. Shrimp cocktail: nothing special, shrimp tasted super fresh. 8oz steak: melts in your mouth. Just the right seasoning and very very delicious. Sides Corn ribs: sweet, savory and delicious Fries: just amazing, steak fries with the perfect amount of seasoning. Desserts: Toffee cake and ice cream: salty, sweet and plays a perfect violin over the tongue, with the different flavors. Cheesecake tart: my absolute favorite part of the meal. The crust and the cloud of cheesecake was absolutely breathtaking.

The service was lacking, and it appeared more staff would help; Our server struggled with her hand-held point of sale device and it was uncomfortable for conversation and a private dining experience. Now for the food - the appetizers were incredible; Although we wanted the signature oysters as recommended by our server, only to be told after we ordered them that they had sold out of oysters the night before our visit; no free bread - but $12 for bread is insane: The food came out one plate at a time.... uggg. Two in our party ordered the Dino Rib ( 2@ $55 ea) and both stated the meat was flavorless and the mashed potatoes seemed over pureed ($13); The side requested was the Triple Cooked Fries w/malt vinegar ($11), however, we were told that this side order sold out the night before///odd???? One had the Steelhead Trout ($43) which had a great miso glaze, but it was served cold; One ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop ($45) - which took some time because of the thickness and cut, so we can only assume thats why the fish was sitting and waiting to be served. Desserts were ordered - one blueberry/lemon tort - dry and day old; one chocolate chip cookie bake which turned out to be the highlight of the evening. All in with cocktails and our party of four, were in and out for $503. With prices like this and boasting hi-end dining experience, the Butchers Cellar has a few things to work on. Our party agreed we might return for Happy Hour and enjoy the appetizers once more, but as for the entire meal not so much.

As others have mentioned, too much salt. Went there for the first time and we were excited to try a new option for fine dining. The restaurant decor and set up is inviting when you walk in. The staff and our waitress were all excellent. Sadly the filets we got were so over salted neither of us could finish them. Very disappointing as it seemed like a high quality cut of meat. SO over salted. The sides were good but I didnt understand the point of the corn ribs. They waitress said you eat them like a corn on the cob but there was really no cob to hold onto so I decided I would cut the kernels off the rib and that was very difficult as it is just a small sliver of the cob left which is the rib. I finally gave up on that. Sadly, for the cost of the meal and the saltiness we wont be going back.

My husband and I tried it when they first opened and we were very underwhelmed. We decided to give them a few months to work out the kinks and give it another try. Unfortunately our last visit was worse than the first. My meal was completely inedible. I got the lobster alla vodka and it was so overly salted I couldn t eat it and there was very little lobster in it. Our drinks came VERY slowly and those weren t much better than the food. We REALLY wanted to like this place because our favorite place for date night (Oak and Ivy) closed and the location that they re in is very convenient for us. I guess we ll just have to keep looking because this is definitely not it.

Ive never heard of this place before until my aunt messaged me, saying we were having dinner here to celebrate my father and aunts birthday. The experience was INCREDIBLE. The sides are family style, meaning they will get passed around, and whenever the food is ready, it immediately comes out, so some items might come out first before other items, but roughly itll be around the same time. The atmosphere is also fantastic, with a rustic/modern clash, with glass chandeliers and granite fireplace. The restrooms are VERY clean, and very decorative with wallpaper of small little animals, and even a crow in front of the Mens Urinal. Our server, Tyler did a fantastic job with making sure we were taken care of, and answering any questions we had. I will DEFINITELY be coming back to this restaurant for dinner, either by myself or with family.

Best meal we have had in the Waco area! Wow! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last night and it was a great experience. Our waiter was super helpful and attentive. He apologized for the delay as the kitchen was a little backed up, but it was very busy there and we hardly noticed a delay. The food was fabulous! We had the crab stuffed squash blossoms to start, which were so good with the accompanying sauce. Great flavor and crunch. For entrees I chose the steelhead trout and it was the star of the night for both of us. My husband said thats what he is ordering next time. It was incredible. The sauce from the dish was heavenly and I could have licked the plate clean. My husband had the NY strip which was excellent too. Perfectly cooked and great flavors. We tried the brussels and corn ribs for sides. The brussels were full of flavor and we loved those. The corn ribs looked great but fell a little flat. They were good, but I think they needed something more to elevate. Maybe a dipping sauce or something to make them juicier? That is my only critique of this whole meal! For dessert we tried the key lime creme brulee, which was awesome, and the peachy monkey bread, which was stellar. I could eat it every day. Overall a great meal with one hit after the next. We were so excited to dine here and it lived up to our expectations! Our new favorite Waco restaurant, for sure.

The butchers cellar is in my opinion, the closer thing to a real steakhouse in Waco, TX. They add a twist to the experience by making food family style with an attitude on sharing. The ambience and the experience amalgamates with the food on their menu. I recommend the food and the quality. Especially as a date spot! While the prices are expensive this is an establishment where it is worth the price. The only reason I gave the food category a four star rating was simply because of the quantity size in certain dishes. Get a couple appetizers of sharing between 2-3.

The Good and the Need for Improvement. - we had a very good experience at Butcher s Cellar. The environment is very nice , the people are beyond friendly and there is an army of them., checking on you, taking completed dishes , checking on your food etc. We ate at 6 on a Wednesday and when we were there it wasn t all that crowded but got crowded before we left. As such , the food almost came out too fast. We will go back. Now for a place this nice and at this price point I was shocked at the limited bar. I could not get the scotch I normally drink and it s a very common scotch. Upgrade your selections. I had a martini instead ordered with olives. I got one little tiny olive. A place like this should have Spanish olives and offer a variety - blue cheese or jalepeno stuffed. The martini was cold but it was not right. It should have flakes of ice in it from being shaken. Something is amiss in the bar. One more thought. When we walked in the bar area is the first thing you see and there were what looked like several guys who just got off a construction job who filled the bar. It s not a great first impression for a place that is working at $100 a person for dinner. Good luck - we hope you do well.

We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and decided to try out the new place in town. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all fantastic. I had read a handful of the reviews here and can report that they definitely listen. Some specific examples: We were greeted with smiles immediately entering, when we were seated, we were handed drink menus and given a rundown one the Butchers Cellars experience, food menus were brought with our drinks and our server gave us a thorough rundown of the apps, and additional utensils are now placed on a plate. My wifes steak was perfectly medium rare and my trout was delicious. I may need some instructions on how to eat corn ribs, though :) Some folks in Waco may get a bit of a sticker shock with the final bill but you definitely get what you pay for! I believe our server name was Jamie, I know it starts with a J. Shout out to her for taking good care of us.

Best way I can describe it is that you can tell when someone really is passionate about something and puts the same amount of effort into it. Visited today, on entering the restaurant we found that the aesthetics were pleasing, but were a bit turned off by the lack of a welcoming host. There were three folks standing there and none were very pleasant. First words I got were Do you have a reservation. So initial impression with service was already a bit sour. We were then brought to a tiny table and given only drink menus. We tend to prefer a look over apps and chat about the menu so was quite annoying to not receive a menu until eventually our server came. For a restaurant with relatively high prices and a name like The Butchers Cellar and a pretty eclectic menu, I expected our server to give a bit of a rundown of how things worked. No such menu tour happened so we fumbled through it. The general concensus on food was that everything lacked salt and honestly the skill for some of these dishes seemed a bit lacking. We had gummy mashed potatoes, undercooked scallops, vodka sauce that was separated and had next to no lobster or seafood flavor. Drinks took a surprisingly long time to arrive and we were pretty bothered by our server casually placing our appetizer serving utensils on the bare table...YUCK. We definitely think the cellar has potential, but with prices like that and staff that seems unskilled and lacking in pride of service, we wont be returning for some time if at all.

He knew the menu, answered all our questions and was very attentive to our requests. The atmosphere was relaxed and just beautiful. My husband had the Whole Fish which was the Sea Bass Mediterranean and I had the 6 oz Filet. Our sides were mashed potatoes and corn ribs. We had the mushroom risotto and milk buns as the appetizers. To drink he had tea and I had a strawberry margarita. Both fish and steak were cooked to perfection. The taste of both were exquisite. The mushroom risotto had a creamy texture to it. Wife ordered Scallops over a Cauliflower Puree which was also cold. Wasnt looking for comp or discount but a $360.00 tab for cold overcooked food isnt acceptable. Will not make a second visit. After I told the story to the manager and only then did I get an apology. He said it wouldn t be appropriate for him to crawl under the stall door to attempt to open the door, but I guess it was ok for a young lady in her 20s to crawl on the bathroom floor! The waitress said she was locked in there prior and it had happened several times to others. FIX THE BATHROOM STALL DOOR.

The Butchers Cellar is one of the only places you can go in Waco for elevated dining and fine service. This emerging gem has been finding its footing, and has some incredible staff and wonderful food. Recommended: The spicy strawberry margarita - hot, bright, light, fresh. The milk buns with fascinating accompanying butter - soft, fluffy, well-seasoned, generous. The mushroom risotto - umami, surprising, delectable, balanced. The whole fish - flaky, tender. The chocolate crème brûlée - almost rich, creamy, indulgent. This one is going on my list, and should be on yours.

It was a wonderful experience. The service was excellent and the food was great! I reserved a table and they gave us a corner one. The table was pretty small, and so was the tight space between two chairs right in the corner. Overall, its a great experience, and I would love to go again. Dietary restrictions: On the menu, it has DF, GF, & V.... Dairy Free, gluten-free, and vegan. If you need help, the service is extremely helpful

My fiance and I were so excited to try this place. We sat down our server said they would be right with us. 30 minutes later someone else decided we should have an opportunity to order food like what we came here to do obviously what else are we sitting here waiting for didnt even give us a menu. First problem my fiance ordered a Pina colada cocktail and was given a sour lime drink that was awful. Second try another slightly less sour lime drink. No pineapple or coconut neither flavor was in the drink I dont know how that was so hard to make that it actually couldnt be done by the bartender? Idk the carajillo was the best thing they have on the drink menu though. The food the risotto was delicious but theres only 3 bites of it I asked if it was a meal size I was told yes thats a lie unless youre 4 and under maybe. The $70 ribeye my fiance ordered came with the only seasoning or flavor added was the burnt outside of the entire $70 steak. $250 of disappointment like just give up that was a terrible experience go back to the drawing board the concept is only good at scamming people thinking theyre paying for quality.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! Our drinks were unique and the food was perfection. We tried the butchers cellar bacon and the 1000 layer potato and the milk buns for starters. Our entrees were the sea scallops and ribeye(which melted in your mouth). The chocolate cake was so delicious that I want to go back and order all the desserts. Everything is shareable. We will be going back soon!

My husband and I have gone once every week for the first 3 weeks they ve been open! We have tried every drink on the menu (the purple gin drink- Reign something- is my ABSOLUTE FAVE!) and are making very good progress through the remainder of the menu. The decor is SO much fun and everywhere you look, there is another beautiful and eclectic feast for your eyeballs to take in. Their team, although still new, is quick and eager to serve and ensure your water glass stays full and your table stays clean. The atmosphere is warm and lively and classy. It has been the absolute perfect place to celebrate anniversaries or long time friendships or just the fact that you made it to the end of the week and we look forward to continuing to celebrate here!

The food, service, and decor were exceptional! Such a unique place it felt like sitting in an art gallery. Lots of interesting design elements, delicious food, and incredible drinks. The layout, seating options, and overall environment was inviting and and calm. Though the tables were filled with patrons the night we dined, it didn t feel too loud, overstimulating, or overwhelming. There s no other place like this in Waco! the hallway to the restrooms and the restrooms themselves are even works of art. This is one of those places that I feel like if I sat in a different spot everytime to dine, I d have a whole set of different and interesting decor to look at. Can t wait to go back!

From the moment I stepped through the front doors, I immediately knew how special and unique our evening would be! It was more than I could have imagined from the start. From the beautiful decor, amazing drinks, incredible service, and the out of this world food, we couldnt have had a better experience. Our party of 6 shared several dishes and we got to experience quite an assortment of meals, appetizers, and sides. With each bite, we were all in heaven! I even have Celiac Disease and I could enjoy the majority of all of the items on the menu. You will not be disappointed and the Chefs have worked very hard to make a very top notch menu that will be constantly changing! THANK YOU for our wonderful evening! Love the decor!! Overall, a bit overpriced for what you get and the level of service. When our food arrived it was called out, like who had... instead of just being placed in front of us like every other fine dining restaurant we go to. That cheapened it somewhat. The broccolini was cold, my steak was undercooked (both sent back), and the vinegar powder fries did not have any vinegar flavor. Not the night we had hoped for.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary at The Butcher s Cellar and it was fablous! We both had the 6oz filet, and shared potatoes and corn. You have to get the corn ribs! I had a Purple Reign cocktail, it was pricey but very well done. Highly recommend. Pricey but worth it!

The appetizers were pretty good, but the main courses were disappointing and everything was over priced. The scallops were especially disappointing, because the waiter asked if I wanted to add truffles for an extra $10, so I said ok. But, when it arrived, there were no truffles. When I pointed this out to the waiter, they told me that the small yellow pieces of pickled cauliflower were truffle. I never tasted, smelled or saw any truffle. I would not go back because the food just isnt that good.

We went to The Butcher s Cellar for a birthday dinner. There were 10 of us. 3 of us ordered the ribeye, medium rare. All 3 came overcooked. One of the guys sent his back, and the second steak came back overcooked. To the chef - medium rare is a warm red center. The corn ribs and Mac & cheese were great. My wife ordered the salmon and the risotto. She had to send the risotto back because it was too salty. I know the restaurant is relatively new, so I will try it again and hope for better results.

I cant imagine the pressure this entire team feels with all the build up and excitement of its opening. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere, design, layout, menu everything has obviously been well planned and thought out. The food and drinks were incredible. Im so excited to get such an exceptional place in Waco! Our service was off a bit, It took quite a while to get our drinks, apps and our sides came about 5 min after our mains. Im looking forward to my next visit and having a 5 star experience.

The service impeccable and the onion rings and mushroom risotto were to die for. Food was cooked perfectly, and oh so delicious. Whoever did the interior design needs a ginormous pay raise. The details are actually insane! You can tell there was a lot of thought that went into creating the space + menu. We can t wait to go back! The ribeye was to die for, the corn strips were amazing, and the homemade SMORE S. OMG.

Thank you so much for having us this evening. The food was incredible. We loved all the fun paintings, pictures, wallpapers, and chandeliers. The Purple Rain was AMAZING! 100% recommend the Tomahawk Steak, the 100 layer potatoes, and bone marrow. The pork Tomahawk was also so, so good. The char(crust) on it was so flavorful. The corn ribs were delicious as well. We missed out on dessert this evening, but we are looking forward to trying the house made smores and the cheesecake tart! Again, thank you so much for having us this evening!
